Black velvet fell. There was no waking creature except a witch. Strawberry golden strings played no music under the moon. She just stood straight there. Then she whispered some words and waited for her loyal friends. The leaves of the oak trees began trembling when an owl hooted. Silver waves rippled. The air was dominated by magic. A flock of the winged creatures crossed the sky.
'Burn all sinks of iniquity.' The witch muttered and vanished.
Their shadows moved over the forest. After a while, a few people on the brooms followed them. A quiet chasing game started. If muggles had seen them, it might have looked like enormous transport aircrafts moving from one airbase to the other.
Adrenaline rushed, witches and wizards lost their sight. One of them gathered all his strength and shouted,
'We lost them. Let's land on the ground.'
One by one, they descended to the top of the hill. The grass were rustling in the wind.
'How could they disappear so suddenly, Charlie?' Ron asked helping Hermione to climb down the broom in the dark.
'I've learned the ancient dragons could vanish and appear at their will. I must report what we witnessed to the ministries in the world. '
Harry looked up at the night sky. The King Dragon was not in the flight of dragons. The imagination that they could vanish and reappear easily made him feel eerie. The moon was hidden by the clouds rapidly. A soft hand clasped his. Ginny said,
'It was so exciting. I've never had such a flight before, even in the Quidditch games.'
'Why do so much trouble happen again after the battle? To have a peaceful life is impossible forever?' Frustration caused by failing to catch the suspects after long investigation reached to his mental and physical limit.
'No, it isn't. As we unite against difficulty, it is possible.' The moon reappeared and illuminated her face.
He loved her cheerful mood. He held her hand tightly, 'Yeah.'
Two women saw them withdrawing. Heavy-lidded one tried to catch the shape of her favorite wizard in the shade. The strawberry-blonde spoke,
'It's no use wanting him, Verina. He has a girlfriend. And your mother...'
'I know. She was in the opposite side.' She bit her lower lip. She turned to her mentor. 'Will you train me as a dragon tamer, then?'
'Yes. We need more dragon gaurdians.'
'But your first plan was ruined. They know you are an imposter.'
'I couldn't predict the house-elf would obey Harry Potter. It is rare considering over their history, exploitation of labour.'
'Yes, he is an uncommon good person. I want him more and more.' The memory at Hogwarts produced a pool of moisture in her crevice. 'It was a close. I can't stop enchanting him.'
'It sounds you give up true love. Only physical connection won't make you happy, Verina. Forget him. Focus on your bigger dream.'
'He was so cute on my bed. I'll get both.' She smiled wickedly just like her mother.
Harry unfolded the Daily Prophet. There was no information on Hogwarts. He fathomed professors didn't provide any around the incidents going on. After the battle proper education was essential. Evans disappered. He remembered McGonagall's fear on her face when Charlie explained his view about the trace of King Dragon. He didn't think it was evil conspiracy like Voldemort's. Yet, it totally seemed unearthly.
He flipped through the next pages. When he tried to read the result of the Quidditch League matches, a small article jumped into his sight. It told about a big fire in the Muggle town. It reported that the area was a base of criminal syndicate. Ron talked to him from behind,
'Did Chudley Cannons win?'
'Eh,...no. Puddlemere United won.' He smiled at a Keeper in the magical photo and passed the page to Ron.
'Oliver. It's great to see his save in the game, but I expect him to give Cannons a little mercy.'
'He won't. His saving average is a matter of life. He has quite a few rivals in the team.'
Harry pulled his wand and let it cut the article about fire.
'Why do you care about the corner article?'
'I saw the other report on fire in a muggle village the other day. I forgot the detail. I should have recorded it.'
'Do you mean the two fires might be from the magical side?'
'Yes. I need to see your father.' He stood up.
'I'll go with you.' Ron followed him.
They went out of the Auror Office to Arthur's. When they reached to the door, Ron said,
'I don't want to skip lunch. I'll ask dad for office delivery.'
Arthur looked delighted to see them. He urged them to sit down, 'Office sandwiches are not so bad. I'll arrange them for you.' A paper airplane left his desk and flew close to Harry's head. Another boxes of sandwiches were soon carried to the letter box. Ron finished eating first while Harry told Arthur about the articles. Arthur's face got serious listening to what he said.
'Do you think the DA professor's missing has a connection with the muggle occurrences, Harry?'
'Yes. I ask you to investigate the areas.'
'Have you told your boss about this?'
'Not yet. I want to make sure before telling him.' He started eating. Sticky egg paste and cucumber flavor mixed in his mouth. It tasted good. When his hand grabbed another, the other paper airplane arrived. A red stamp, 'Urgent' was read on the wing.
Arthur caught and opened it, 'It's your letter, Harry,' handed it to him.
'What did it say?' Ron looked in.
'MacGonagall asks me to be a temporary DA teacher.'
Ron whistled, 'Cool.'
'You don't like it, Ron. One of the other trainees will be your partner in place of me. I won't accept this.'
'Why not? You were a brilliant teacher. I remember the achievement after Hermione suggested in our fifth year. You should be.'
Harry observed his best mate's face, searching for a glimpse of envy. His smile looked genuine. 'Well, I will, if you say so.'
