She spun around and walked out before he could say anything else. This game that they've started will torture them both but Issy is ready to win.

Who's going to lose their control and snap first?

Let's find out.

After lunch Clark showed her how to file a report and took Issy through the extra reports she'd have to fill in depending on the weapons and such. She was amazed at how detailed and yet simple the reports were. They were just like a quick questionnaire with sections to fill out and boxes to tick. Clark had released her just before dinner, reminding her that she had to come up with a squadron name and patch. He also informed her that the squad will be getting new jackets to hold the patch and name.

With a tight smile and a growing headache, Issy left the garage with no destination in mind. She knew that she'd have to come up with a name and patch soon but taking the role of captain was a lot more stressful than Issy had thought. It wasn't that the work load was getting to her, not at all. Issy was actually enjoying the extra work. It made her feel like she was actually having a hand in protecting the city… It probably sounded stupid now that she thought about it. She had patrolled the city, sure, but it never seemed like she was doing enough

What was getting to her was the fact that now she has soldiers looking to her for orders. That, and the fact that she had to come up with a name and patch for the squad. Issy loved the idea at first but then she began thinking harder on it. It would be a name and patch that will be tied to the squad for as long as she was captain. Whatever Issy decided to use, she had to be sure of it and not just use a quick sketch. It had to be thought through and in her opinion, it had to have meaning.

Issy broke out of her thoughts when a cold wind started biting at her skin. She was on the roof above the net. Issy hadn't even remembered the journey there. She bit her lip. It was freezing on the roof but she needed somewhere to think and she didn't want to go home just yet. Instead, she braced herself against the winds and walked over to sit against the ledge. It blocked out most of the wind but it was still cold. Her clothing was thin and it didn't help at all. She pulled at a loose thread of her top and tried not to shiver. It wasn't even October yet and it was already promising a nasty winter.

Thinking back to creating a name and patch, Issy remembered when Clark told her about how he decided on his. Clark's name and patch had come about as he had always thought that lions were majestic creatures. They were prideful, strong and predators. So were Dauntless. Clark had told Issy that he had added the arrows to the lion along with the motto Be Not Afraid to say that even when injured, don't be afraid, get back up and keep on fighting. It took a lot more than a few arrows to take down a king. Not all squads had a motto though, that bit was optional.

It was a lot more detail than some of the other captains had gone into when creating theirs. Though Issy wanted to meet the bar that Clark had set. She wanted it to mean something. To her and to Dauntless.

Warmth enveloped her and something heavy was placed around her shoulders. Issy looked up to see Eric standing over her and he pulled the thick blanket tighter around her on one side. The other he left loose. Issy opened her mouth to question him when Eric sat down right next to her and puller the blanket tighter on his end.

"You missed dinner."

Issy's head snapped up. "What time is it?"

"Around seven o'clock."
"Shit."

Eric held up a cylinder flask and pushed it in her direction. "I brought you some soup."

Issy took the flask from him and wrapped her fingers around it. The flask was warm, sending goose bumps across her skin and she realised just how cold she actually cold she was. Issy shuffled closer to Eric in search of the warmth he emits. Eric slipped his arm around her waist and pulled her closer. Issy snuggled into his side and Eric sighed. "Thank you." Issy whispered as she began to unscrew the lid. Stream escaped and thawed her cheeks. She took a small sip. "Ah fuck yesssss. Chicken and Thyme." Issy whispered. "How did you know?"

"I asked Dec."

She reached up to kiss the junction of his jaw. "Thank you."

"No problem." Eric didn't say anything as she sipped the soup. Issy just enjoyed his heat and his presence.

"Eric?" Issy spoke up after a long silence. "How did you feel when you first became captain?"

He shifted. "I'm guessing you don't mean if I was happy to take the role?"

That leaves Issy with another question in her mind. "Were you happy?"

"Yes I was. I was excited to lay down my own plans for the faction. I still am."

Issy nodded. "But how did you get over the fact that you had people looking to you for orders?"

"I don't know. I guess I just realised that they trusted me to know when I needed to ask them for ideas. I trust my squad and they trust me. We look out, protect and never give up on each other."

Like a family, Issy realised… Like a pack…. Then one thought led to the next as something what Eric said had triggered a memory in Issy's mind. It was when she was younger and still learning Latin back in Erudite. She had been researching phrases and combinations of words for fun and –

"Eric do you have a pen or something on you?" Issy moved and pulled out a piece of lined paper and slipped her tablet under for support. Wordlessly, he handed her a pen began to write. There were four words, two on a line, once she was finished.

"Is that Latin?" Eric asked and she nodded. "What's it for?"

"Inspiration." She whispered as she began to get up. Issy paused for a moment, only to pull Eric down so that she could kiss him. She smirked against his lips at his obvious confusion. "Thank you." She was up and jogging to the door leading down.

"Wha – Wait!"

Issy stopped by a ledge and looked back. Eric had the flask in one of his pockets and was trying to fold the blanket up quickly. "I have an idea and I need to get it down before I lose it." She took off again, leaving Eric grumbling behind her as he fought with the blanket that didn't want to fold.

When she got halfway down the metal stair leading from the roof, Issy heard Eric start climbing down them. By the pace he was setting Issy could tell that he was trying to catch up with her but Issy reached the ground before Eric was even halfway down.

Issy stated running then, not wanting to lose the image in her head. People moved out of her way all through the Pit until she slammed the door of the tattoo parlour open and strode in. Tori and Bud greeted her and shared knowing looks when Issy ignored them. She passed Josh who started to call out after her but stopped when Issy picked up his sketch book, a pencil and a rubber. Issy settled down on one of the comfy chairs and opened the pad up to a clean page before beginning to draw the idea in her head before it ebbed away.

Soon enough there was a dark grey wolf with blazing fiery eyes on the page. No surprise that she had drawn a wold from her fear sim. The wolf was snarling, its stance defensive and there was a burning banner wrapped loosely around its body. The banner said Non Desistas, Non Exieris meaning Never give up, never surrender. Above the wolf was another banner that was also burning but looked like it was floating down towards the ground. It that banner it said Lupi Bellator meaning Warrior Wolves.

Issy grinned. She had her name and patch. The pressure lessened slightly and she was excited for her captain duties again.
