So, I know its been a long time since I last posted and I did say that I'd be posting Eric's outtake most likely before this one went up. Well… shit happened… Word wasn't opening at all on my laptop, which causes making notes in class quite difficult, so I backed up all my documents and had it factory reset… What I didn't realise until I tried to open up GF is that I lost my first version of this chapter and an unfinished outtake of Eric's POV.
I couldn't turn on my laptop without getting angry and wanting to throw it across the room. I couldn't find it in me to write anything as I had also lost some other stories that I had been writing for years now. I was depressed and angry and was lashing out a bit. But then I noticed I got more depressed because I wasn't writing so I've slowly been getting back into it. I don't know if or when I'm going to start rewriting Eric's outtake, but I don't want to give up on the ideas I had because he was the cutest and I want to share that with you all.
Anyway… On with the chapter!
When Hector opens his mouth to rebut her statement, the door opens to reveal Bulldozer.
"It's nearly time for people to be arriving Beta – oh?" BD pauses, his eyes glancing from Issy's neutral expression and the deflating rage on Hector's face. "Is everything okay?"
"Yup!" Issy smiles but it doesn't reach her eyes. "Ready to ruin some sleep patterns?"
"Yeah." BD glances to Hector and Issy misses the unsure look they share. "Positively excited."
Issy stands in the garage with a smirk dancing on her lips as she scans the tense line of trainees in front of her. Her own squad stand a few steps behind her in parade rest shoulder to shoulder, all the while grinning ferally at the fresh meat in front of them. There was a chalkboard next to her and on the hidden side was all their names in order of rank from the basic training they had received. She didn't say anything for a while, just stared at them until some of them started to shuffle. Her golden eyes found Robyn and she winked at the young woman. A muscle ticked in Issy's jaw when her eyes found Emmett smirking at her, his stance almost laidback.
Issy's expression hardened and she frowned. "Now I don't know what any of you expected when you chose to train under myself and my squadron but if you thought because I'm young and new to my position, this is going to be easy then you are wrong and you may as well leave now." The line in front of her shuffled but none of them moved. "This next month for you all is going to be brutal, it's going to push you to your limits and far beyond that. Because there are so many of you, it will be difficult for us to really concentrate on training each of you individually. So, considering this, after the second week cuts will be made and four of you will be cut." Spines snapped straight and eyes widened slightly. There was only Robyn that didn't seem disturbed by the idea, having only just came out of initiation. "For those four of you that are cut, you will most likely go back to your old jobs or can petition Leadership to be placed somewhere else. For those that remain, you will be assigned to someone in the squadron to train beside and after another week there will be another cut." Now, some of the trainees begin to look uneasy and Emmett swallows. "Four of you will remain and train together before the squadron and myself make the decision of who makes it. Rankings will be updated and emailed to you every night but for now, this is where you stand." Issy flipped the chalkboard around and eyes focused on the list.
1. Soren
2. Hannah
3. Robyn
4. Elliot
5. Milo
6. Vera
7. Tommy
8. Lani
9. Kale
10. Emmett
11. Leo
They had all been ordered due to where they were placed from the original rankings out of fifty. Some of her squad was surprised to find Robyn, who was the youngest out of them all, to have been placed eighteenth overall. Though Hec and Issy argued that it wasn't surprising as she's just came out of initiation to be thrown into two more sets of training. Out of all of them, the young lass was most used to the extensive training they were about to go through.
Issy turned ever so slightly to the side and nodded once to Bulldozer. He grinned, stepping past Issy with a small pouch in his hands.
"These are patrol alarms," He started as he passed one to each person. "Keep them on you at all times. We will sometimes use these to communicate where we will be meeting up in the morning as none of you are allowed key cards yet."
"I'd advise you to keep checking your emails over the first week for the training schedule while we get started as some things may change." Issy stared at them, sharpening her golden gaze on each of them in turn. "Tomorrow I'll show a little bit of leniency but after that, if any of you are late, you will be immediately cut from my programme." There was a muffled snicker behind her as the trainees become pale. Obviously, for some of them, this isn't what they expected when they signed up for her squadron. Her voice was low when she started talking again. "Do I make myself clear?" Some mumbled their agreement while others nodded. "I said," Issy growled. "Do I make myself clear?"
"YES BETA!" They shouted simultaneously.
"Dismissed."
