OH MY GOD! CHAPTER 100 GUYS!
A very very small part of me wants to say that we're getting to the end of this story but we're not, we are really not… I've never been able to write short novels, so you're stuck with me and this story for a while longer…
Thank you to the awesome Guest that reviewed! Honestly, you lifted my spirits and gave me the motivation to finish this chapter! I think I'd cry too if I stopped writing this story, it's the only thing that really helps me keep a hold of things.
"I'd advise you to keep checking your emails over the first week for the training schedule while we get started as some things may change." Issy stared at them, sharpening her golden gaze on each of them in turn. "Tomorrow I'll show a little bit of leniency but after that, if any of you are late, you will be immediately cut from my programme." There was a muffled snicker behind her as the trainees become pale. Obviously, for some of them, this isn't what they expected when they signed up for her squadron. Her voice was low when she started talking again. "Do I make myself clear?" Some mumbled their agreement while others nodded. "I said," Issy growled. "Do I make myself clear?"
"YES BETA!" They shouted simultaneously.
"Dismissed."
Early the next morning, Issy and her squad stood outside one of the exits of the compound. All of them were dressed in training gear as they waited. Bulldozer and Red snickered as they took bets of what state the trainees would be in when they arrived. Issy smirked but said nothing as she threw her own patrol alarm in the air, the screen flashing as eleven people had yet to turn off their alarms.
It was an easy decision on Issy's part, backed up by the sadistic grins on the members of squadron 226. The trainees need to know that she was serious about everything she said yesterday. Just because she was the youngest captain and only older than the recent initiation class by a year, she would not make it easy for any of them.
Being as kind as she is, Issy set the alarm off at twenty past five, hoping they'd all be ready for the scheduled run at six. The squaddies had met her outside within a few minutes, having known beforehand that the alarms would be going off.
It wasn't until a few minutes past half past when they heard the incoming sound on boots on the ground. In a small group, five of the eleven trainees jogged outside. Some of the faces that Issy saw wasn't a surprise, most of them were serious about wanting to be a part of a squadron. Soren, Milo and Elliot seem to be the ones that'll be fighting for the spot. Issy watches as Milo's eyes narrow at Lani when she jogs out Kale by her side. Hannah, Tommy and Leo are the next to join them and after waiting a few minutes more, Robyn and Vera come running through the doors with Emmett following closely after. Emmett throws a wink in Issy's direction, but her eyes are focused on the women he followed. Both seem to be glancing at Emmett from the corner of their eyes as they split off to stand with others.
It was interesting to see how they had already formed small groups with each other. It made Issy wonder if this is similar to what the instructors see each year with initiation. Hannah, Tommy, Vera and Leo stand side by side, throwing reassuring smiles at each other. Lani, Kale and Robyn Stand close together, the women glancing to Emmett as they whisper quickly to each other. Milo stands a few steps behind the trio with his arms folded and openly glaring at Emmett while Soren and Elliot stand to his side. Even though everyone seems to have found their own social circles, it seems that there has been an unspoken decision to group up against Emmett, who stands separate from the rest, smirking.
Issy glances to her squadron and sighs. How are they meant to enforce teamwork with all of them when all the trainees have already singled someone out?
"How'd ya like that as a wake-up call, huh?" Billy laughed as some of them yawned through their scowls. Billy grinned, making the others of squad 226 laugh, he was enjoying being on the opposite site too much… "Don't worry, there's more where that came from."
"Alright Billy," Issy called out, rolling her eyes. "That's enough." She looked around, watching as the trainees shuffled into a rough line in front of her. "At breakfast I will be explaining the routine for these next two weeks, seeing as half of you don't have actual email addresses. For now, we're gonna take a run around the border." Some of them groaned when Issy set off jogging, realising that she wasn't joking. "Let's go!"
xXx
Dauntless was the second biggest faction after Amity. The groans were replaced by huffs of breath as Issy jogged around the first half of Dauntless' border. Cutie Pie, Geek and Rainbow jogged on her heels from practice during Issy's take over as Captain. After them followed the trainees, who tried to keep up with the pace that was set by Issy – a pace that she thought was reasonable. Billy, BD and Red brought up the rear, snapping and taunting at those that started to lag.
Issy slowed the pace down as they neared the garages, being cautious of the guards with rifles who manned the checkpoints on the border where patrol trucks followed the single road towards the compound from this side of the faction. Dauntless was getting more and more cautious of who came into the faction and had started enforcing more security along the borders. She stopped by the side of the road as a truck at the in checkpoint restarted its engine and began to roll towards the garage.
"BETA!" Someone stuck their thumb out of the window of the truck and Issy laughed when she realised who it was, not having noticed the numbers on the side of the truck. Axel grinned around the cigarette between his lips.
"Mornin'!" Issy yelled back, her grinned widening when Eric leaned out of the window.
"Early start Beta?" The Leader asked and Issy scrunched her nose up at how alien it was to hear Eric call her Beta.
"No rest for the wicked!" Issy smirked at him as Eric barked at a laugh but it didn't last long. The laugh ebbed away, and Eric's expression hardened like ice as his eyes found someone behind Issy.
"Have a good day Beta." Eric said, his cold eyes never leaving his target.
"You too sir."
Eric's eyes flashed to Issy and she rose an unimpressed eyebrow in response.
"LATER BETA!" Axel shouted as he sped the truck up, probably eager to unload the truck.
Issy grimaced at the thought of the absolute shit fit that Eric was about to have once he located Max and Harrison. Then she realised Eric will probably come looking for Emmett at some point to threaten him and she sighed. Issy shook her head as she started jogging again until they got to the same pace as before. She just hoped she didn't have to hold Eric back from committing murder when he found his target again…
So, Eric's gonna throw a hissy fit – whether that's going to be in the next chapter or kept to the outtake, I haven't decided yet…
I have a question for you guys though!
What do you think of the trainees so far?
I remember on review saying that it had started to get confusing from all the OCs I introduced so do you guys want descriptions on them or are you guys good fabricating their descriptions from your own minds?
