Last Time on Left To Right...
The figure unzipped the bag and looked through the money. Len studied the figure. "I know you don't talk much but I gotta question. How much dirt exactly do you have on me? Like, you always send me a little bit randomly but I wanna know how much you know."
The figure narrowed his eyes at Len.
"There some things that I don't want anyone to know, not even you. Sorry, but I plan to take some stuff to the grave with me," Len answered, calmly tapping his finger on the table.
The figure went back to checking the money.
"I been nice to you, bro. You know I coulda been working to blow your identity but I choose not to. I feel like we have a spiritual connection, you know? You're definitely my type," Len said with a smirk.
The figure didn't say anything.
Len sighed. "Playing hard to get. I see. Let me know when you want your next payday to be. Later."
The figure slid a note across the table to Len. Len grabbed it and read it.
Who is Hiyama Kiyoteru?
Scene 2 or Rehearsal 5: trust me
Len blinked. "Who the fuck is Hiyama Kiyoteru?"
The figure didn't say anything.
"If your gonna stalk me and find dirt on me, make sure I actually know who the fuck you're talking about, okay?" Len told the figure before standing up.
He glanced at the figure before making his way out of the club. As soon as he entered the van, he took off his beanie and his glasses.
"How did it go?" Kaito asked, looking up from his phone. He didn't have the weed anymore.
Len didn't answer Kaito and put his hood over his head.
"What are you planning? What type of manager do you want me to be for your grand plan?" Kaito asked.
"I'm always right, right?" Len asked as Kaito started the van and drove off.
"What are you planning?" Kaito repeated.
"This Vipperloid dude. How much do you think he knows?" Len asked.
"Why? Did he give you a reason to think that? Have you finally come to your senses and realize we need to discover this guy's identity and stop him from leaking everything out without the use of hush money?" Kaito asked.
"I could care less about his identity, but what I do care about is how much he knows," Len answered.
Kaito approached a red light and looked at Len as if he was crazy. "What type of guy doesn't want to catch his stalker!? And bro! You had so many chances to catch him! One day, ima call the cops on him when you and Vipperloid are meeting up! You'll be thanking me!"
"Okay, boomer," Len answered, pulling out his phone.
"I'm 2 years older than you! Anyway, sometimes, I feel like you're trying to destroy yourself," Kaito said. The light turned green so he drove off.
"The dinner was good," Len said as he scrolled through the articles.
"Yeah. Rin's surprisingly good. The song she wrote in that small time period was really good," Kaito said, understanding that Len wanted to change the topic.
"I know. Now I definitely can't afford to lose her," Len said, tapping on one of the articles.
"I bet Mr. Yohioloid has heard the news. He must be working on a contract for Miku as we speak. Miku will become a Vocaloid," Kaito said.
"About that. Don't let Miku sign a record deal with him," Len said.
"Why though? You promised Rin that you'll turn Miku into a famous popstar. In order for that to happen, she needs to be signed to an agency. Vocaloid Entertainment has the hottest stars. A contract with Mr. Yohioloid is perfect," Kaito explained.
"Why don't I make her into the popstar?" Len asked.
"You sorta did," Kaito answered.
"Like, instead of working on my album, I manage Miku's career," Len said.
Kaito blinked. "Wait, you're not going to work on your album?"
"My fans will understand. I found a talent and I'm not gonna lose it," Len answered.
"Miku is talented," Kaito agreed.
"So is Rin. Look at how many streams the song she wrote is getting. Rin has to be my songwriter," Len explained.
"Okay. Now I'm lost. You just said that Rin has to be your songwriter but you're also saying that you're not going to work on your album because you want to manage Miku's career. Look. Let Miku sign with Mr. Yohioloid and Rin can write your songs for your album," Kaito said.
"We'll call it Project Diva. We'll manage Miku's career and turn her into a star bigger than my mom. Rin will be writing her songs and my fame will rise. I won't just be a pop sensation, but I'll be like some sort of mentor that is talented and capable of turning anyone into a star," Len said.
"Now I see where this is going. It's your inferiority complex with your dad," Kaito said with a sigh.
"He's not my dad," Len said, slightly dropping his laid back demeanor.
"Whether you want to admit it or not, he is. You guys are blood, after all. If it wasn't for him, your mom wouldn't be Sweet Ann and you wouldn't be Kagamine Len," Kaito said. He's said this plenty of times but wasn't certain over the exact number of times he's said this.
"Maybe I should do something about Vipperloid after all..." Len said, changing the topic.
"You wanna catch your stalker!? Finally!" Kaito cried.
"I just want an excuse not to go to school," Len answered.
"...At least you're catching your stalker. That's all I care about," Kaito said.
"We need to get me a bodyguard who can fight. The next time I meet with Vipperloid, the bodyguard can attack the guy. I hate bodyguards though," Len said.
"I'll start looking for the best bodyguards in Japan," Kaito said.
Len's phone started ringing. When he looked at the ID, he smiled. It was Neru. He glanced at Kaito.
"Aren't you gonna answer that? Who is it anyway?" Kaito asked.
"It's nobody," Len said, declining the call and shoving his phone into his pocket. He made a mental note to call Neru again as he leaned his head against the window with the blunt in his mouth.
Rin was minding her business, brushing her teeth, when she heard her mother SeeU, real name Si Yu, scream.
"What!? What!?" Rin cried, running out of the bathroom and into the living room.
Si Yu was jumping up and down and had her eyes glued to the TV. Len and Miku's performance was playing. "Is that Miku!? The Hatsune Miku I used too look after when you kids were migits!?"
Rin, who still had her toothbrush in her mouth, nodded.
Si Yu squealed. "I wonder how she's taking all this fame! Rin Rin, have you looked through social media yet!? People won't stop talking about Miku!"
Rin went back to the bathroom to finish brushing her teeth. Then, she came back out. "I never got to."
Si Yu pulled up her Twitter and showed it to Rin. Rin grabbed the phone and read the Tweets.
where did she come from? its rare to find talent like her!
must be a dream come true performing for kagamine len!
from a nobody to somebody!
modern day cinderella! luckyyyyyyy
omg! yungmony sashadachacha therealmiki baifalishia mtotheotothe rumi101 bluiv
shes soooo pretty i wish i was her!
how high can her voice go?
"I wonder how Miku's parents are handling their daughter's overnight fame?" Si Yu wondered out loud.
"I don't even think they knew Miku was going to do this to be honest," Rin said, sitting down.
"I'm worried about Miku though. The whole country, maybe the world, has their eyes on her. I wonder if they've figured out where she lives yet? I mean, the Barbs can figure that out in under a second so I bet people have discovered Miku's address by now," Si Yu said.
Rin suddenly stood up. "I have to get ready for school!"
She quickly got ready for school and ran out of the house. Miku lived a few houses down so she sprinted all the way to her friend's house. By the time she got there, it was crowded. So many people, both paparazzi and fans, were standing outside of her house.
How's Miku gonna go to school? Rin wondered as she looked for a way to enter Miku's house. She reached into her pockets for he phone before remembering she doesn't have a phone.
She walked up to the girl closest to her. "Can I borrow your phone?"
"Why should I?" The girl asked, scrunching up her nose.
Rin glared at her. "Bitch, if you don't give me your mothafuckin phone, ima-" The girl quickly handed Rin her phone.
Rin bowed before dialing Miku's number.
"Who's this?"
"It's me, Rin!"
"OMG! Rin!"
"How are you gonna go to school? Are you still in the house?"
"I'm waiting for everyone to leave."
"Girl, you know damn well nobody's gonna leave/"
"But there has to be some other way for me to leave! Should I just go out there?"
"Yeah. I'll be your bodyguard and fight anyone who lays their crusty fingers on you."
"Aww! You'd do that for me!?"
Rin hung up and deleted Miku's number before handing the phone to the girl she took it from. Then, she started pushing people out of her way as she made her way towards Miku's front gate. Whoever didn't move got a black eye. As soon as she made it to the gate, Miku came out. Everyone started screaming.
"Hold my hand and don't let go," Rin told Miku. Miku nodded and grabbed onto Rin's hand.
"Move! Superstar coming through!" Rin yelled as she paved a path out. Miku waved at everyone and had a large smile on her face. She winked at some people who fainted.
"Look! Luka's car!" Miku cried as a black, fancy looking car approached.
The car's backseat door opened, reveling Luka. "Get in quick!" Luka cried.
Rin and Miku ran and hurriedly entered the car just as everyone figured out what was going on.
"Follow that car!" Someone from the crowd yelled as Rin closed the door.
The car drove off. Miku looked behind them and saw the people who were crowded in front of her house chasing after the car.
"Fans are the worst! I hate fans!" Rin cried.
"But they give me love and their love gives me power!" Miku cried, sitting back down.
"You already have a fanbase," Luka said, looking through her phone.
Miku's eyes lit up. "I do!? Already!? It hasn't even been 24 hours yet!"
"They call themselves the Twin Tails," Luka answered.
Miku played with her iconic pigtails. "So they're not childish like my parents and sister have been telling me! I have a fanbase named after them!"
"Wait. Okay. Len's gotta help you with this career thing though. Things are already getting out of hand!" Rin cried.
"Everything will be fine, Rin! Just enjoy the ride!" Miku cried.
Rin sighed. "Where's Lily?"
"We're kind of not talking right now so she took another car to school. She's kind of frustrated that she's not a star yet though" Luka answered.
"Lily's a good singer. She'll get her chance!" Miku cried with a smile on her face.
"She has her modelling gig so I'm sure she'll be well known soon," Luka said.
"It's gross how optimistic you guys are. I can't even be in the same car as you guys anymore," Rin grumbled, shaking her head.
At school, it was even more chaotic than at Miku's house. This time, the people actually knew Miku. They've even grown up with her.
Lily approached Miku. "Hey bestie!"
Miku blinked. "Me? Bestie?"
"Yeah. You're best friends with my sister! That makes us besties!" Lily answered.
Miku smiled. "Yeah! We're besties forever!"
"Let's sit together at lunch!" Lily cried. "Okay!" Miku cried.
More girls came up to Miku and asked her all sorts of things.
"Look at us suddenly becoming invisible," Rin told Luka as they both watched Miku get swept away with the girls.
"Fame," Gakupo simply said, appearing next to Luka.
"But at least she's happy," Rin said.
"I wonder if Miku's going to actually start a singing career?" Luka wondered.
"I'm not exactly a fan of the entertainment industry. I don't think Miku should get involved in it," Gakupo said.
"That's what you think but ultimately, it's Miku's life. Whether she gets involved or not is completely up to her," Luka told Gakupo.
"I need a phone..." Rin grumbled.
"I can buy you one," Luka offered.
"No, it's fine," Rin said, opening her locker so she could switch out her shoes.
She saw a box in white wrapping paper and a golden bow sitting in her locker. Is this a present from a secret admirer or something? Wait, I don't get secret admirers. So is this a prank? She wondered, taking the box. There was a golden envelope under it so she put the box back in her locker and opened the envelop.
call this number ASAP: 012-345-6789
Rin snorted. They spelled number wrong.
She put the note back into her locker and opened the box. Turns out, she was given the latest phone model. Len.
"A new phone? Wow. Whoever put it there must really like you," Luka said.
"Or he must be stalking you. How would he know that you need a new phone?" Gakupo asked.
"Good point," Luka told Gakupo.
After school, Rin went straight to work. She used the time to set up her phone. Once it was set up, she called the number she was given.
"How you liking the new phone? Save this number. It's Len, your number one star."
"So. How's this whole stardom thing going to work for Miku?"
"Straight to the point, are we? Well, as much as I'd love to turn her into a star but that decision is up to Miku."
"What do you mean?"
"She has to sign with me, not Yohioloid."
"Why not Mr. Yohioloid? He's been turning people into Vocaloids since day one. You're just a product of his work. I trust him more to manage Miku's career than you, total offense."
"Maybe you don't know this but I'm Yohioloid's son. I'm also the son of Sweet Ann, one of the greatest stars in the world and Yohioloid's first product. With both of them in my blood, I know I can turn Miku into a star. I got all these plans for her that are ready to be carried out. I can be the best mentor because I was born into the spotlight so I know how life's like in the spotlight a lot more better than Miku. And, you're my songwriter."
"Ghostwriter at this point. And what does that have to do with anything?"
"You'll write songs for Miku and I'll say I wrote them."
"You're not working on an album?"
"I'll be way too busy managing Miku. My fans will understand."
"If you say so."
"Kaito's actually with Miku right now."
"Really?"
"Yeah. They're at my penthouse. Miku should be signing a contract with me as we speak."
"All of this is happening so fast."
"Of course it is. I'm not gonna lose her to Yohioloid."
"Last thing. You'll protect Miku, right?"
"She's the sound of the future. Of course I'll protect her."
"If she doesn't want to do this anymore, you have to promise me you'll let her go with no objections and make sure she's safe."
"I don't think she'll wanna leave."
"Just in case. I like to have insurance policies."
"Okay. I promise I'll let her go when she wants to be let go and I'll make she she's safe. Happy?"
"She'll need a bodyguard."
"That's so funny! I'm actually hiring bodyguards right now!"
"But she's getting at least one bodyguard, right?"
"Of course."
"Just...make sure nothing goes wrong."
"Just trust me."
Len hung up.
Rin stared at her phone. "How do I get all of my stuff that were on my old phone back? Was everything backed up?"
Then she went onto the internet and searched up "Kagamine Len." On his Wikipedia page, it said that his parents are Yohioloid (real name Kagamine Yohio) and Sweet Ann (real name Angelina Kagamine). She was surprised to find out he has a little brother named Oliver. "I've never heard of this Oliver kid. I guess he's not interested in the entertainment industry..."
By the time she was done with work, she had finally figured out how to work her phone. It was nighttime when she left the 24 hour corner store. She was minding her own business as she made her way to the subway when she felt someone following her. She looked at the screen of her phone and saw the reflection of a man in black following her close behind.
Fuck, why do I gotta deal with this now...? She grumbled as she took out her earbuds and plugged them into her phone. She played Meltdown and put the volume up.
Rule one: make them think that I don't know that I know they're following me, she thought before singing to the song.
Another guy appeared behind her. Rule two: lure them without letting them know that I'm purposely putting myself in a bad situation, she thought as she turned into the nearest alleyway.
As soon as she hit a dead end, she took out her earbuds and turned around. A total of 5 guys dressed in black were looking at her. Rule three: act scared, she thought.
"Um...who are you guys...?" She asked, dropping her phone and earbuds.
"It's okay, baby girl...we won't hurt you..." the first guy answered, walking closer to her.
As soon as he grabbed her arm, she flipped him over. Once he was on the ground, she kicked him in the face. Rule four: drop the act and fight, she thought.
The second guy ran towards her. She punch him in the face. The rest of the guys came after him. One by one, she knocked each of them out of commission. She had just picked up her phone and earbuds when one of the guys stood up and pulled out a pocket knife. He backed her against the wall.
"You fucking bitch!" He yelled.
Rin simply kicked him in the balls.
She took the pocket knife he dropped and put it in her school uniform's pocket. "Thank you for the knife! I can add it to my knife collection!"
When she walked out of the alley, she saw an expensive car parked right in front of the alley. She didn't pay attention to the car until it put its passenger seat window down.
"Damn! Maybe you should be my bodyguard too!" A familiar voice from the car cried.
Rin walked closer to the car and peered into the window. The she frowned. "Len."
Len smiled. "Get in. I'll drive you home."
Rin looked around before entering the passenger seat. Len drove off.
"Are you stalking me?" Rin asked.
"I put a tracker on your phone so I guess I am," Len answered.
Rin frowned. "What?"
"Reasons," Len said.
"Take out the tracker," Rin said.
"Nope!" Len cried.
Rin glared at him. "I don't like the fact that you're tracking me wherever I go!"
"And I don't like the fact that I gotta deal with a stalker who knows everything about me and where I go," Len responded.
Rin scoffed. "You have a stalker? I'm not even surprised."
"Yeah. I tried getting a bodyguard to deal with the stalker too but none of them worked out. I just saw you with those Yakuza members and I realized that you'd make the perfect bodyguard!" Len cried.
"Me? Bodyguard?" Rin asked.
"First of all, you can fight. Second, nobody would think you know how to fight cuz you're so tiny. You're perfect," Len answered.
Rin sighed. "Look. I'm your ghostwriter. Now you want more from me?"
"You don't gotta go to that part time job you work at no more cuz I'll pay you. You'll be with me at all times so that can also help with the songwriting. You'll know my flow and shit so the songs you write will sound more like I wrote them," Len explained.
Rin didn't like the idea of being somebody's bodyguard. She also didn't like the fact that she'd have to be with Len. "You forget that ima high school student with a life."
"No, I didn't forget," Len answered, smiling at her before facing the road.
"So what would make you think I want to leave all that just to work for you?" Rin asked.
"You care about Miku's safety, right? If anything bad happens to me, then Miku's in trouble. I know you don't trust me but you being my bodyguard will let you guarantee that Miku's safe. And there will be other experienced bodyguards to help you out," Len answered.
Rin leaned back in her seat. "How much am I getting paid?"
Wassup!? It's ya gurl, sugarsugarrush! Sorry that this chapter is short! I planned it out and shit but it turned out to be shorter than I expected it to be.
Random thing of the day: It ain't Halloween until you watch Halloweentown. Early 2000s kids know what I mean
Question: Should I rewrite the first few chapters? Should I make a whole new story? Should I leave things the way they are now?
Don't forget to leave me reviews and PMs and I hope y'all like this!
