Gerrycanada: Sorry it won't be Huntress that becomes Batman's third wife. It was going to be Mystique but I have someone else in mind now. The next person to get rings will be Kyle Rayner. Unfortunately Dick will be with Barbara as I alluded to in earlier chapters. It ain't War World either.

Chapter 18: Queens and Vampires Part 3

A portal opened up and Grail, Verna, Deimos, and a captive Jess all arrived at their base. Morlun looked to see that only Jess was present. "You only brought back one Spider? Where was the other?"

"Why decided to get this one only. The other one wasn't someone that the Spider-Man cared for so this would have to do", Grail said.

"I say we should just kill her now", Deimos said. "Better yet we should enjoy our moment with her before the Spider-Man arrives". Deimos grinned darkly at Jess who had her head turned away from him. Deimos' smile faded when Grail placed a blade next to his throat.

"You are not allowed to touch her at all. None of you are allowed to touch her until after the Spider-Man is dead. Is that understood?" Grail asked with a glare.

"Yes, I understand", Deimos said as he held his hands up and slowly backed away.

"Everyone, everything is ready", Jennix said as he walked in. All the Inheritors smiled at this news while Grail nodded.

Grail got up and walked to the back while dragging Jess to a cell for her before placing her in there. "I wouldn't get too comfortable with believing the your friend will save you. I'd suggest making peace with the idea of death". Just like that Grail walked away.

Jess looked at the ground as she began to think back on an incident with her and Peter.

-Flashback-

A few years ago, the New Avengers aided in arresting Norman Osborn who at the time called himself the Iron Patriot and his Dark Avengers. The group was Peter, Jess, Carol, Logan, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and Doctor Strange.

As the heroes began to walk out of the building they were in, they were swarmed by various reporters. "Mr. Cage can you explain what happened here?" a reporter asked.

"All that happened was Osborn created a Back Market ring and we stopped him. That's all that happened", Luke Cage said.

"Spider-Man you have faced off against Osborn before, what are the chances of Osborn getting free"

"Trust me we have a special cell at the Raft just for Osborn that will monitor his every move and make sure that he doesn't get out. Osborn won't be escaping any time soon", Peter answered. Soon enough Jess, Carol, and Logan walked out with Norman webbed up as they walked down the stairway.

"Question Mr. Cage, what is she doing on your team? Wasn't she responsible for the Skrull invasion?" a reporter asked.

"No she was not responsible and the one responsible is dead. Spider-Woman is a friend and ally", Luke said.

Apparently some people were still angry at Jess for something she didn't do. One man watched all of this and called Jess a traitor he threw a glass bottle at Jess. Before it could hit Jess, Peter stepped in and caught the bottle. The man stopped in his tracks as Peter walked up to him.

"Don't throw this again okay", Peter said as he put the bottle in the man's hands. "And if it makes you feel any better, she's just as much a victim because of the Skrulls". With that Peter walked up to Jess as she, Carol, and Logan handed Osborn to the police. "You okay?"

"A little. Thank you Pete", Jess said with a smile.

"Anytime. By the way, if you ever need any help, don't hesitate to let me know", Peter said. Jess smiled hearing this from Peter and hugged him as a result.

"I won't hesitate for that", Jess said.

-Flashback End-

A small smile crossed Jess's face before she looked up with a determined expression. "I'll continue to believe in Peter, regardless of what you say", Jess said.

in a Quinjet

Flying in a Quinjet was none other than Peter and his group. They were able to get a Quinjet and head over to the location that the Inheritors were at. As it turned out they were in San Francisco at an old facility that was run down.

The group continued to fly there as they were ready to rescue Jess when Carol spoke. "We're almost there everyone, so get ready", Carol said as she piloted the Quinjet.

"You sure this plan will work Peter? Sue asked.

"Of course it will. They want me so let's give them exactly what they want", Peter answered before turning to look before him. "Jean, you ready to go?"

As it turns out, Peter asked her if they would join them and help rescue Jess. Jean agreed because Jess was a good friend.

"Yeah, I'm ready", Jean said with a smile. Peter nodded at them with a smile.

Adriana who was next to Peter the entire time spoke to him. "How strong are these Inheritors?" Adriana asked.

"Strong enough to effortlessly push me around. Which is exactly why I have a plan to beat them", Peter said. "You sure you'll be okay taking them on?"

"Of course I am. They may be strong but I'll show them what true strength is", Adriana said.

"Speaking about you how did you survive our last battle?"

"You can thank your old nemesis Miles Warren for that", Adriana said. "He ended up using a new cloning procedure that reanimated me back to the land of the living. Though I was grateful for what he did, I saw that he had intentions of using me and so I had to get rid of him".

"Of course Warren was responsible, cause why not", Peter said.

"That's why you like you so much Spider-Man, you understand what it's like to feel betrayed by others. It is exactly why I am dead set on my goal for a kingdom to rule over, so that nothing that will ever happen again", Adriana said.

As much as Peter wanted to dispute that, he couldn't and he'd be lying if he said Miles Warren didn't deserve what happened to him. One thing he does know is that Adriana is confident enough to make her goal a reality.

"Here we are everyone", Carol announced as she began to land the Quinjet near the facility.

"Alright then", Peter said. After the Quinjet landed, everyone stood up from their seats and Peter spoke again. "Let's go save a friend".

-Inside the Facility-

So far the Inheritors were inside of the building waiting patiently for Spider-Man to arrive when Deimos spoke. "I can't take this anymore. Why can't we just kill her right now?" Deimos asked with a scowl.

"Because I said so", Grail said sending a glare his way. Deimos growled at her leading to Grail's eyes glowing red. "I'd be careful if I were you. Let's not forget who's daughter I am".

"Relax brother, after all we'll still have the pleasure to kill the Spider-Man", Jennix said.

"No that pleasure will be mine and mine alone", Morlun said.

"Don't think for a second Morlun that you alone will kill the Spider by yourself", Verna said with a stern look towards her brother.

"I can and I will", Morlun said with utter belief that he can win.

At that moment Grail sensed that someone was there and smirked. "We'll just have to see because the Spider-Man is here", Grail said as she got up.

Soon enough Peter appeared walking into the facility. The Inheritors saw Peter and stood up with the intent to kill him. "I'm here as you wanted. Now release my friend", Peter demanded.

"It's not going to be that easy Arachnid. We have a score to settle", Morlun said with anger.

"Fine by me", Peter said as he slipped into a fighting stance. Before Peter could do anything however, a large metal object fell on top of him and pinned him to the ground. "What the what is this?"

"Apologies Spider but that won't be happening at all", Jennix said as he stepped forward. "We will be delivering you to our father who has plans for you personally". Jennix walked around as Peter struggled to lift the metallic object off of him. "If you're wondering why your Spider Sense didn't warn you of this, then it's because I built my own personal Spider jammer that neutralizes all of your abilities".

The Inheritors proceeded to walk towards Peter with malicious intentions when Grail spoke. "Stop, that isn't the real Spider-Man", Grail said as she approached them.

"Yeah you got me. I'm a hologram", Duplicate Peter said before he burst into purple smoke. This caught everyone by surprise.

"If you're looking for me, I'm right here. I should let you know however that I'm not alone". The Inheritors and Grail looked to see that Peter with Carol, Diana, Pam, Dinah, and Adriana. Peter was wearing his Spider Armor MK III in order to fight against them effectively. He once used this in order to stop Doc Ock from destroying the Earth with help from the Avengers and Justice League.

"Don't think you won't escape me this arachnid. You will die today", Morlun growled with a glare.

"If that's the case then let me remind you, I don't go down easy", Peter said before he and his group charged forward and fighting against the Inheritors. Peter fought against Morlun with Adriana's help while Pam and Dinah fought Verna and Carol started beating Jennix.

Morlun was barely able to hold his own against the two Spiders as Peter and Adriana were kicking the crap out of him. As Peter went for a high kick to the face, Adriana used her sonic scream stunning Morlun allowing Peter to kick him in face.

Dinah and Pam continued fighting Verna as Dinah tried to fight her hand to hand. This was a bad idea as Verna overpowered her but Pam came to her rescue as she summoned vines to attack Verna. The vines wrapped around Verna's body and lifted her up. Dinah who escaped from Verna's grasp used her Canary Cry to blast Verna away.

Jennix tried to punch out Carol but Carol wasn't hurt badly. She got over to him and began beating Jennix into the ground.

Diana was fighting against Grail. The two traded punches but ended up punching each other back several steps. "Why are you with the Inheritors, Grail? What would Darkseid gain from working with them?" Diana asked.

"Simple, my father and the Inheritors will share the multiverse after the Spider is dead", Grail said. Soon enough the two charged at each other again.

While everyone continued fighting Deimos escaped to go find Jess and just kill her. As he went to where Jess was he was shocked to find out that Jess was gone.

"Impossible where could she have gone?" Deimos asked.

"Behind you!" As it turned out Jess was right behind him with Sue and Jean. Deimos turned around only to be blasted in the chest with a Venom Blast, a Psychic Push, and a Force Blast fired from all three. The ladies decided to run away while he was unconscious.

As they arrived, they joined in the fight to turn everything around for the others. Jess ended up fighting with Peter and Adriana. "Hey Jess, glad to see you're alright", Peter quipped.

"Of course I was going to be alright. Did you really doubt that would be okay?" Jess joked as she kicked Morlun in the face.

"Of course not. I always believe in you Jess", Peter said as he managed to web up Morlun's face with taser webs causing him pain.

"WOULD YOU TWO SHUT UP AND DIE ALREADY?!" Morlun yelled out before being superkicked by Peter, Jess, and Adriana at the same time super hard. He fell hard on his back before struggling to get back up which he did manage to do.

Having had enough of this, Jennix decided to speak. "It would seem that we won't win this fight if it continues any longer", Jennix said before throwing bombs at everyone and grabbing a device to create a portal. As the bombs began to go off everyone scrambled to leave. "Another time Spider-Man, another time".

"Everyone get out as fast as you can!" Peter yelled as he ran out. Thankfully, everyone made it out safely as the building started fall apart due to the explosion. "Is everyone alright?"

"So far so good", Dinah said as she inspected everyone present.

"Wait where's Adriana?" Peter asked. Apparently Adriana had disappeared. Before Peter could search for her...

"Don't look for me Peter Parker. We'll see each other again a lot sooner than you think", Adriana said telepathically to Peter. Besides Peter, Jean also heard her thoughts as well.

"And I'll be ready when you do come back", Peter said. "Alright everyone let's get out of here". Everyone agreed with Peter decided to get going. It was one Hell of an exhausted day and they all just needed to go home.

New York

Some time after leaving San Francisco and dropping Jean off at the Xavier Institute, the group arrived back at the Baxter Building where Peter was in the medical room with Jess. He did this just to make sure that she was alright. As it turned out she had a few scratches on her. "Jeez Peter, I'll be alright. I'm not dying any time soon alright?" Jess joked.

"I know but I just wanted to make sure that you were alright", Peter said as he began to rub alcohol on her minor wounds. "By the way, Carol said you wanted to tell me something. What did you want to tell me?"

"What I wanted to tell you Pete is that I love you and always have been", Jess said.

"I love you too Jess", Peter said. Jess hugged Peter before the two kissed each other. Soon enough Peter pulled out a ring from his pocket. "Jessica Meriem Drew will you marry me?"

"Yes I would", Jess said. Peter put the ring on ring finger. A wave of pink energy washed over Jess' body before it dissipated. "I'll admit I don't like that I'm your sixth wife but all things considered it's better than not being your wife at all".

"I agree", Peter said before resuming kissing Jess.

on Xandar

The Guardians of the Galaxy were inside of their spaceship called the Milano as was docked on Xandar. The group was currently having lunch made by Groot and Moondragon as Rocket Raccoon was speaking.

"Oh come on, Quill think about it! All we have to do is go to Hala and steal those crystals and we'll be set for life", Rocket said.

"Rocket the Kree would have devices that let them know we are on their planet and would fire at us", said Peter Quill aka Star-Lord before he looked around and spoke quietly to Rocket. "If we're to steal those crystals we'll have to find a way to disable their tech first".

"We're not stealing anything you two", came the voice of Gamora, deadliest woman in the galaxy. "Besides we should contact Koriand'r to see if she's alright".

"What do ya mean? Kory's a strong lady, she can handle herself. Besides what's the worse that could happen?" Rocket asked.

Soon enough, the door to the ship opened, which startled the Guardians, with Kory walking in. "Friends, the Phoenix Force was taken by Vulcan!" Kory said with fear.

All of the Guardians looked on in fear as they heard the news. "I am Groot", Groot said.

"Yes I know buddy. We are all screwed", Rocket said.

Next time Peter and Jess have a good time together. Plus Batman get's his final wife.
