Seraphina's POV

I rummage the small bookcase in my room, as someone was distracting me from choosing a book from the library.

I hear a knock in my door.

Speak of the devil.

I know who it is even before opening the door thanks to his alluring scent.

I open the door and smile.

"Well hello I didn't expect to see you so soon." I say, as I put one hand in my waist.

Is he here to ask me for a date?

"Now that you have toured the castle would you be interested in some battle training?" Alec asks me.

Well isn't that a romantic date…

But then again It's been forever since I have fought someone.

"Of course I am!" I say excitedly.

I've been itching for some action.

Alec then glances at my outfit and says "Not that you don't look divine but wouldn't you prefer to wear something more comfortable to train?"

I look down at my elegant dress.

"If there's something you should know about me Alec is that I can bring destruction in any outfit." I say with a wink.

With that I walk outside and close the door and walk a few steps and stop since I don't know the way to the training grounds.

Alec looks at me and gives a silent laugh before showing me the way to the training grounds.

I see some vampires battling, kicking, punching, flipping them over etc.

I smirk, finally some action.

"I see you have brought in our new member." a big burly guy, with brown hair says with a smirk.

"Hello little one, my name is Felix." he says while putting out his hand for me to shake it.

I usually don't like touching people (vampires) but just for calling me little I'll make an exception.

I grab Felix's hand and burn his hand while he was about to shake it.

He pulls away in a hurry with a pained cry.

I don't like being called little, it makes me feel small and weak and my 5'2 height doesn't help.

(A/N: Alec is 5'6 in my story, i know wiki says 5'0 but that is according to the book and my story is based in the movies but the actor is 5'10 making him too tall for many who call Alec and Jane young and small vampires so I decided to change his height)

I try to always wear heels but even with those I am short only being 5'5 (A/N: in the 1920's the heels were 2 or 3 inches so Seraphina can't get any taller)

"Little and feisty, I see." Felix says with a grimace as he shakes his hand from the pain.

I simply smirk, he may have called me little again but he got the point I'm not someone to mess with.

"Well lets see how trained you are." Felix then walks far from me and got in an attack position.

While Felix was walking away Alec whispered in my ear "You shouldn't burn people every time you touch them, it's bad manners."

I look at him and smirk "As if you didn't enjoy it." I say referring to the burning kiss I gave him not too long ago.

He is about to retort back when I felt Felix presence near and shifted my attention to him and blocked his attack with my hands but his strength was too great that I flew to the wall.

"Damn it." I grunt as my back hits the wall.

I run towards Felix and raise my fist as if to punch him, he quickly puts a defense position but instead I jump up and appear behind him, grab him by the neck and slam him to the ground.

He grunts in pain and I'm barely able to form a grin when he grabs me from the ankle and throws me to the wall…again.

"Felix! Be careful with her" Alec yells warningly.

"Since when have you cared about the new recruits or anyone besides your sister?" Felix asks, confused.

Alec simply glares at him.

"Tch, I don't need him to hold back!" I yell in anger and charge towards Felix.

I'm not weak, I can take care of myself.

I have been doing so for centuries, having a mate won't change that.

I punch him and he grabs my fist and begins crushing it.

I grunt in pain and burn his hand.

He pulls back in pain and glares "This is a physical abilities practice, no gifts allowed."

Tch, easy for you to say, your gift is superior strength.

But fine I accept your challenge!

I began to strike him but he blocks some of my hits only angering me further.

He also manages to strike me a few times though I manage to dodge some of the hits with my flexibility

With one of my punches he grabs my arm and holds it behind me harshly enough to make me cry out, not a second after I can feel my arm again and Felix presence is off of me, I turn around confused.

And see Felix in the floor with Alec hovering above him, glaring at him.

I growl at Alec for interfering and but he still doesn't turn to me and says still looking at Felix.

"That's enough, practice is over." Alec scowls. "Felix, what are your observations?"

"She is strategic and is very flexible but her temper makes her moves stronger but sloppier and more predictable, I imagine she relies too much on her gift and doesn't practice her physical abilities." Felix states and with each word I only grow angrier at myself since I know it's true.

"Therefore Seraphina as long as you control your anger and practice more, you should improve in your fighting ability." Alec tells me, now turning to me.

"Okay." I mumble looking away, "I need to get some fresh air, I'll be back soon."

After saying that I run off straight to my room.

I let out an unneeded breath, I sit down in my bed and think about the wrong moves I made and how humiliating it was, specially with Alec watching it all.

I open the door to the balcony and go outside and take a breath of fresh air.

I may not need air but I still like the feeling of air.

The day is very sunny so by stepping out the sunlight hits me, making my skin sparkle like diamonds.

I stare at my skin, many vampires hate the sparkling skin because it makes us have to hide in dark places and stay out of human eye when it's too sunny.

I too like them have to hide just so the idiotic humans don't get a heart attacks.

But I don't hate the sparkling skin, I have always loved shiny things even as a human so seeing my diamond like skin in the sunlight makes me happy and serene.

No jewels and gems I have bought or could buy could ever be as shiny and strong as my skin.

Before I could enjoy my moment of peace further I heard a soft knock in my balcony door.

I quickly step back from the sunlight and look at the intruder.

And see Alec looking very pleased for some reason.

I must have been really in my thoughts if i didn't hear him or smell him near me.

"Don't you know it's rude to enter an unmarried woman's room? Specially without her permission." I say teasingly, saying one of our society's rules or at least that's how it used to be before humans became more liberal.

"I apologize, I did knock several times but you did not answer." Alec says while getting near me. "And I believe I deserve a pass on that rule as your mate."

I feel my frozen heart warm at his words 'mate'.

"I suppose I'm feeling generous so I'll let it pass." I smile and cross my hands over my chest. "So why have you visited me? I did say I needed a minute to have fresh air."

"I came to check on you, I saw that you do not take losses well." He said seriously but I could see a hint of a smirk in his lips.

I scoff, "I did not lose, you stopped our match, if anything it was a draw."

"Right." he says with a grin, not believing that only making me irked.

I jab him the chest, "If anything its YOUR fault, for stopping my fight, I had it handled."

I saw his eyes blaze and he gripped my hand that was jabbing him and said.

"By handling it, you mean you were about to have your arm ripped out then yes you were handling it amazingly."

I widen my eyes from his tone, it was the first time I had seen him angry, but I still didn't hold back.

"It doesn't matter, my arm would have healed quickly! I know I can win so don't interfere in my battles."

He calmed down but his eyes still looked pained "Just the act of seeing you in pain made me shove Felix away from you." He held my hand more gently "You're my mate, its normal that I don't want any harm to come to you, I want to protect you."

My eyes soften at his words and realize my mistake.

All the time I'm underestimated by other vampires because I'm a woman and they don't believe a woman can be as strong as a man, vampire or not.

Because that's how society has been for centuries, things are slowly starting to change after the women's movement but people are still adjusting and many old vampires keep the old beliefs.

They 'protect' me because I'm a woman and want something from me but Alec is different he is protecting me because I'm his mate and he cares for me.

I would have done the same if someone was hurting him.

"Sorry I wasn't thinking of it that way, I just didn't want you to think I'm weak." I said and looked at him earnestly.

"I know you're strong, no weak vampire would stride confidently to the masters without sending a letter prior." he smirks and kissed the back of my hand "And the way you burned that human whole, heh half the guard can't look at you in the eye."

I felt myself warm from the way he kissed my knuckles so tenderly and his sexy laugh and smirk.

I have no doubt if I was a human I would look like a tomato.

"I did notice many avoided my eyes in the hallway, who knew giving a free performance was gonna receive such a big result." A sly grin comes to my lips at the memory.

"It's better that way, I'd prefer if the others stayed away from you." Alec says.

I snake my arms to his neck "Why? Afraid I might hurt them?" I asked with a fake innocent pout.

Alec places his hands on my waist "More like I don't want them to get close to you." He then leans into my ear "Don't want them to get any ideas." he says with a smirk, a possessive glint in his scarlet eyes.

I smile and tease him "Hm? Whatever could you mean?" I fake ignorance.

"I could show you what I mean" he says and gets closer to me.

Using my hands in his neck for balance, I jump and flip from over his head and appear behind him "Maybe next time, I have a match to finish." and with a devious grin and a wink I disappear from his sight and head to the practice room.

When I arrive I find Jane and Felix talking in the practice room.

I'm about to get near them when I sense a familiar presence behind me.

And such person, grabs my waist and gets close to me

A sly smirk crosses my lips "Yes, Alec?"

"I'd really like if you would stop running away from me, il mio amore." I could hear the annoyance in his tone.

And it only made me chuckle, "I don't run away, I simply know when to make my exit."

And before he is able to retort I run to Jane and Felix using vampire speed.

"Hello, I'm ready to continue training." I say to Felix and then turn to Jane "Hello Jane, training as well?"

"No, I'm simply observing" Jane said with her usual blank face

"Well get ready for a show." I tell Jane

Felix and I begin circling each other before Felix grows tired and charges at me in which I evade him from the side, grab his arm and this time I threw him to the wall, he launches at me hitting me and throwing me back but this time instead of growling in fury, I laugh, probably making me look insane.

Though what can I say? I love the feeling of fighting, haven't done it in awhile.

While I speeded to reach Felix, I though of my training or should I say play fighting with my pirate buddy, Viktor.

Felix and I started having hand combat, throwing punches and kicks, he had punched me many times but I got him back as much with my swift kicks and flexibility.

I then got an idea, and stomped on Felix foot, purposely putting all my force on my 3 inch heels.

Felix grunts not expecting that and loses his guard, giving me the opportunity of pulling his arms back and throwing him to the ground and pulling all of my weight on his back.

"I win." I smirk and head to where Jane and Alec stand.

Alec stands there and gives me a proud smile in which i reply smugly "Told you I could win."

"I never said you couldn't, love." He replies with a slight smile.

I try to ignore the warmth in my chest from his comment as I shift my attention to Jane.

"What did you think?" I asked Jane.

"It was interesting I saw different tactics that you used that I hadn't seen before so it was highly informative, might I ask where you learned your tactics?" Jane asked, still with a blank face though her expression does look curious.

Heh Jane is so formal.

"I learned most of my moves from my pirate days." i said with a slight smile, reminiscing.

Her eyes widen "You were a pirate?"

"Not any pirate, honey." My smile widens "I was the captain."

"I find that hard to believe, piracy was a mens job." Felix says with a scoff.

My eyes flared at that "Thats where you're wrong, piracy was predominantly males but there were some female pirates." I glared fiercely at him "Cheng I Sao, Anne Bonny, Mary Read and Grace O' Malleu to name a few."

Felix puts his hands up "Okay I believe you, now stop glaring at me and tell Alec to do the same"

I shifted my eyes to Alec and see Alec glaring at Felix.

I feel a small smile appear on my face at his support and continued "A lot of female pirates dressed up as men as a lot of pirate ships held the stupid belief that having a women on board will bring bad luck."

Alec brow shot up "Did you dress up as a man?"

I laugh at that "I believe it's impossible to disguise my beauty, even if I cut my hair short or use men clothes." I say smugly. "Besides I am proud to be a woman and if no stinky man wants me in their ship then I'll get my own."

I saw Alec, Jane and Felix smile at my liveliness.

"I simply used female pirate clothes and before you ask, no that wasn't sold at local shops so I had it made for me." I explained.

"What made you want to become a pirate?" Alec asks.

"Before I was a pirate I used to be a viking and after the viking era finished I grew bored and became a pirate as soon as it grew infamous."

They all looked at me wide eyed until Felix exclaimed.

"You were part of the criminal world, how in the world did we never find you?"

"I may be fantastic in the spotlight but I'm equally great at hiding myself when I wish." I sneered.

"Well enough about me what about you all?"

"We have stayed in the castle." Alec said.

"Completed missions and returned." Jane added.

"Uh... that's interesting" I say with a strained smile.

Wow how can they be content with such boring lives…

"Well the battle with the Romanians was intense." Felix commented.

"It wasn't that spectacular, their army didn't stand a chance against our coven." Jane said ever so smugly.

I did hear about that battle, it did sounded pretty epic, the two most powerful covers against each other.

I have actually met Stefan and Vladimir before, they offered me a position with them but I declined because I refused to listen to anyone's orders besides mine.

"Well that was an interesting match, Seraphina and a very intriguing talk, I have to return to my duties now but I hope we can chat again about your adventures." Jane said with a bashful smile.

I grin, "Of course any time, Jane"

With a small smile, Jane runs off on vampire speed.

"Well I'll have to go back in training if I want to defeat a former viking and pirate."

Felix said with s grin.

"Keep dreaming, Felix." I say with a smirk

"It's not a dream, I defeated you in our first match." He smirks back.

I scoff, "It was a draw!"

He simply waves and runs to train again.

What should I do know? Explore the castle some more?

Just as I was pondering my next move, Alec interrupted my thoughts.

"I need to talk to you."

"Um okay?" I say and wait for him to continue.

"Not here, follow me." with that he runs off and I quickly follow behind him.

We soon arrive in a beautiful garden.

Wow I didn't know there was this part in the castle, I thought as i looked around.

"I forgot to give you this." and he pulls out a black box from his coat.

Um I hope that's not an engagement ring as I still need more time.

Much to my relief he opened the box and revealed a necklace.

I held the necklace and saw it had two beautiful rubies, one in the top and the other in the bottom, it had a crest with a 'V' and some figures in the middle, I figured it was the rumored Volturi crest all guards and members of the Volturi use.

Before I could decide whether i should wear it or not, the necklace disappeared from my hand and Alec from my sight.

And once again he was behind me, only this time putting the necklace on me instead of my cloak.

"Is it just me or are you just looking for a chance to touch me?" I ask him, teasingly.

"Not at all, I'm just being a gentleman." I hear his husky voice behind me.

"If you say so." I reply.

"I am so." Alec responds.

I smile despite telling myself not to enjoy this.

Once again I feel his hand linger on my neck longer than necessary before pulling away and standing in front of me again.

I touch the crest and see its antique beauty.

"This..." I begin but stop since i don't know what to say.

I've never stayed with a coven long enough to be considered a member or be given their crest.

"This is where you belong" Alec says holding the hand that is touching the crest "your home".

"My home..." I say, the word sounding foreign to me as I have never stayed in a place for too long to be considered a home.

"Yes, you belong here with me, this is our home" he says looking deep into my eyes while holding both of my hands.

And for once I truly feel compelled to be part of the Volturi, not because of Chelsea's power after all I'm immune towards it.

But because Alec is here, his presence making me feel whole like I have never felt before

I felt a genuine smile form in my face, and simply nod and nestle myself in his chest as he wraps his hands around me.

Seraphina is very stubborn but even she can notice her mistakes, time has made her (somewhat) wise.

Hope you like how their relationship is going!

Will Seraphina ever feel the Volturi is truly her home?

Stay tuned to find out!
