Seraphina's POV

I'm on my room practicing my gift, trying to make fire come out of my feet as I deliver a kick.

I could always just burn my enemy with a single glance but where's the fun in that?

I hear a knock on my door and open it, and find a lower guard member with a gift in his hands.

I arch my eyebrow, "You do know that my mate will kill you on the spot if you give me a gift, right?"

The guard member shivers from my comment but manages to say "T-This is a gift from Mr. Alec."

A smile immediately appears on my face, "A gift? How romantic of him." Then a thought occurs to me and my smile turns to a frown. "Why didn't he deliver it himself?"

He would have easily earned a kiss.

"He was going to but Master Aro gave him a mission before he could." The guard replied looking tense.

"Ah Aro of course." I scowl.

It irks me how annoyingly loyal Alec is to Aro.

Most girls feel jealous of a prettier girl but me? Oh no I feel jealous of a middle aged creepy vampire.

Woe is me!

"Thank you." I take the gift and he quickly scrambles off.

Pfft calm down, I'm not gonna bite...hard.

With a smirk, I close the door.

Well I haven't lost my touch to inflict fear into others, even without using my power.

"Now let's see what my beloved has sent to me." I tell myself.

I open it and see a beautiful black dress, jewelry to go with it.

Hm, who knew Alec had taste.

There's a letter and I read it.

Mi amoure Seraphina

I wish I could have given this to you myself but my duties enabled me from doing so.

I remember seeing this piece, in the front of a store and immediately imagined you in it.

I know nobody could do it justice like you can.

Please accept my humble gift,

Much love,

Alec

I smile to the letter and look back to the dress, he's right I would look amazing in it.

But I'm not that naive, I do believe he saw it in the store front as he doesn't seem like the type to throughly look for a gift. But I know he bought it for another reason besides me looking great with it.

I confirm my belief after trying on the dress and looking at myself in the mirror.

Since the last few weeks he has been commenting on my clothes.

"My love, isn't your dress uncomfortable for you to fight?"

"You would look magnificent with an elegant, long dress."

"Amoure, As delightful as you look, don't you think you should wear other type of dresses?"

"Maybe Demetri would stop flirting with you if you wore other dresses."

"Have you tried any of the dresses that are already in the closet? We made sure to supply you with the most elegant."

And it just so happens that this dress is long, hiding my legs completely, no cleavage showing either.

Alec never liked my flipper dresses, he had also mentioned that I would look good in royal clothing, that it would befit me.

But I've never liked those clothes, I have always hated having to wear a corset and big puffy dresses that were popular centuries ago.

When the soonest chance to leave them came, I took it right away.

This dress isn't puffy or has a corset and I like the style so I will wear it.

Though if Alec thinks I will be getting more longer dresses he's dead wrong.

I put the matching jewelry and leave my curly red hair down.

I look at myself in the mirror and head out.

I only take a few steps and I reach my destination and knock two times.

The door opens and Jane greets me.

"Hello Seraphina." she then looks at my dress. "That's not your usual style, but it looks good on you."

I narrow my eyes, "Don't act innocent Jane that's not YOUR style. I know you helped him out."

Jane grins slyly, "I suppose innocence has never been my forte."

I roll my eyes and enter her room without her inviting me in.

It goes against society norms but I cared little for them.

Jane seemed to be a stickler for them but made an exemption for me.

"I assure you I only helped him with the jewelry, he found the dress himself." Jane admits.

"If he hates my clothes so much I'm surprised he hasn't already burned them."

Jane smirks, "Oh he thought about it, but he knew you would burn him if he did."

He got that right.

"So he does loathe it." I say, confirming my suspicions.

"I would not go that far but it does...displease him." Jane says, thinking of a word.

"What has he said?" I ask Jane.

"He has asked me if I can get you dresses like mine." Jane tells me.

I discreetly look at her dress and frown.

"I knew that's what face you'd make. So I told him that you wouldn't wear them." Jane says nonchalantly.

Shoot, guess I wasn't as discreet as I thought I was.

"Your dress looks great on you! It's just... not my style." I say not wanting to offend her.

She wears simple black dresses, and though they are not puffy. They are too simple and monotone for my liking.

Jane smiles a bit, "Yes, I know."

"As for why he doesn't like it it's because he has never liked flippers, with their loud music, vulgar language and flippant personalities."

I chuckle at that, "I don't think I'm a flipper, my hair is still long and I'm not that obnoxious."

"Still you dress like them and you could say he's the polar opposite."

"Now that you mention it, he likes classical music, I like Jazz. He prefers to stay here, I prefer to travel. He's more of an introvert while I'm more of an extrovert. He prefers to kill quick and waste no time while I do it slowly and hurt them as much as I can and try to make a performance when I can."

Jane smirks remembering my last performance, "That was quite the performance, they don't call you Fire Witch for nothing."

I smirk, "That's right, well back to Alec. We really are opposites when I think about it."

"There's nothing wrong with that, there's the phrase 'opposes attract'. Besides I'm sure you must have things in common." She replies.

I smile, I guess she's right.

"We... both like reading." I say after thinking.

Jane smiles, "See, I knew there was something. Besides you've only been here a few months. I'm sure you'll find more things in common as time passes."

Who knew Jane could give such good advice?

"That's true. Well I think I will vary my style a bit. I do love variety. Though no puffy dresses." I say.

"No puffy dresses." Jane grins.

I turn to leave but remember to ask Jane, "That reminds me, when will Alec come back?"

It irks me that Alec left without telling me. He always bids me goodbye before leaving.

"About a week is what I imagine." Jane says.

"Ah okay." I say, still grumpy.

"He left without telling you because it was an emergency mission, he had to leave right away." Jane explains, as if reading my thoughts.

I stare at her surprised, "How did you-"

"Read your thoughts? Took a guess, don't worry I'm not a mind reader like Edward Cullen."

Edward Cullen?

"I made the same face whenever brother didn't tell me he was leaving. As he always tells me even after all these centuries. The only times he doesn't is when its an emergency and Master Aro urges them to leave at once. So don't take offense to it." Jane continues.

Ah so that's how it is.

"Alec tells you whenever he leaves? I thought you'd knew. You know with your twin telepathy." I snicker.

Jane deadpans obviously not amused.

"We don't have that kind of power. It would be useful for missions though." Jane muses.

"I bet it would." I smile slightly. Even when I joke about it Jane takes it as a suggestion.

I'm about to leave when there's a knock in Jane's door.

Jane opens the door and there's a guard member, as usual I don't know his name nor do I care.

"Master Aro requests your presence Miss Jane."

Jane's about to respond when I say, "Oh really? For what purpose is that?"

It's bothering me how Aro just calls in who he pleases, Jane just had a mission yesterday must he make her do another one so fast.

"Mr Alec and his group have returned and Master Aro would like Miss Jane to-" he was saying but I quickly interrupted him.

"He's back? But he only just left." I narrowed my eyes.

The guard member flinched under my gaze.

"There was a change of plans and Mr. Alec and his group had to come back so that Master Aro can give his newest command, Miss Jane needs to be present to be notified on the matter as well."

By the time he finished his sentence I was out of the room and making my way to the throne room.

So that Master Aro can give his newest command, phonus balonus! (That's horseshit)

"M-miss Seraphina!" I heard the annoying guard member call out to me.

"What?!" I snapped.

"Master Aro didn't command me to call for you and um..." he stuttered.

My eyes blazed, "Are you stopping me from going to the throne room?"

Instantly the cool temperature turned hot and I'm sure the stupid guard could notice.

"N-no. You are free to go where you want Miss Seraphina..." he said looking down.

Damn right!

Without sparing him another glance I continued my way to the throne room.

I opened the door to the throne room and instantly eyes were on me.

"Ah~ dearest Seraphina!" Aro's voice boomed in the throne room.

"I was about to call for you but I see you could sense your mate in the castle. Ah such is young love~" he sighed wistfully.

Ugh weirdo.

I ignored him and shifted my eyes to my said mate.

He looked as handsome and untouched as usual. Good to see he wasn't harmed I calmed down a little.

He gives me a smirk as his eyes roam my body, obviously liking the way the dress hugs my curves, and I feel my insides melt.

How does he always have this effect on me...?

I cast my eyes towards Aro, not wanting to accidentally embrace Alec.

"Why was Alec and his group recalled? He just left." I ask Aro.

"That's right Alec and his group left at sunrise but I called them back since an informant has told me the threat had taken care of themselves." Aro informed me.

In other words they fought each other and killed each other in the progress.

Talk about a waste of time.

"Is this what you were going to notify me, master?" Jane asks.

I was so focused on Aro and Alec I hadn't noticed Jane was here.

"Ah yes, although those vampires met their demise we still believe that there are other vampires like the informer who were invited to join them with their rebellion others might be interested to rebel as well." Aro said.

"And how do you know who the others are?" I ask, my brow quirks up.

How irritating he wants to stop the 'potential threat'. He should wait to see if someone actually does something.

Most are afraid of the Volturi so the chances are slim.

"Through looking at the informer's mind I could see yet another vampire they invited. Whether he joined or not we will see. Which is why I will send Jane and a few others after him." Aro says.

Smart, Jane's gift will make her victim experience unimaginable pain which will lead to him spilling the information.

"And I was thinking about sending you with her Seraphina." Aro smiles creepily as always.

My eyes widen at that.

This will be my first mission. I've been mostly training and chatting with those few who interest me these past 3 months.

About time!

I smile, "I'd love t-" I was saying when my mate interrupted me.

"Master, isn't it too soon?"

Excuse me?!

I glare at Alec. If he wasn't my mate I'd had burned him to a crisp.

"She only just got here, I believe she still needs training." Alec added, ignoring my glare.

"I already talked to Felix and he told me training has been going great. She has defeated many of the guards without her powers and even Felix himself sometimes." Aro assured Alec.

A smug grin comes to my face, nowadays none of the guards volunteer to fight me.

"Alec do not forget she has lived many years and has fame for destruction, she can handle herself." Caius says, reminding me of my past feats.

That's right, stop worrying.

I thought Alec would give up after listening to his Masters words but he didn't.

"She's not ready." Alec insisted. "She might jeopardy the mission."

I'm going to jeopardy your face if you keep talking.

Aro's face grows serious, "How do you think she might jeopardy the mission?"

"She's too confident in her abilities and usually only focuses what's in front of her, when she trains I've seen some of the guards sneak up on her and manage to use that in their advantage."

I look at Alec in horror and embarrassment.

"That happened in a practice where it was three guards against me! While I was fighting two of them, one sneaked up behind me!" I quickly defended myself, trying to erase the humiliating memory.

"In battle, we might be against hundredths of vampires so If you can't defeat three measly guards, you aren't ready." Alec states looking blankly at me.

I feel many emotions then, anger, humiliation, and embarrassment.

"That's because I wasn't allowed to use my damn gift! If I used my gift I could kill all those hundredths of vampires in minutes!" I exploded.

Aro looks at me intrigued, almost imagining my power working on hundreds, Caius looks at me displeased as always, Markus looks at me disinterested.

"Her temper also doesn't help, she gets too caught up in her emotions which can be a hindrance during missions." Alec adds and not a second after he finishes I send him flying to the wall as a loud thud is heard.

"Who's not focused now?!" I snapped, making fire appear behind me.

Before I had to hear Caius's annoying voice, I stormed off, leaving small trails of fire as I walked.

Only a minute passed as I stalked off that I heard another annoying, familiar voice.

"For what it's worth, I think you are more than ready to go on missions."

I turned to look at Demetri as he shot me a smirk.

"I already know I'm ready." I shot back.

"It's too bad Alec can't see that, and our Masters listen to him just to appease him." Demetri says with a frown.

He doesn't need to tell me that, I know that as well.

I roll my eyes and start walking off.

Demetri is quickly at my side, walking beside me.

"But I'm different, I can see your potential!" Demetri adds with an assuring smile.

I'm sure you only see me as a potential fling.

"Good for you." I say, curtly.

He doesn't take the hint to leave me alone and continues.

"Which is why I would like to propose to you to come to a mission with me." Demetri says quickly picking my interest.

I look at Demetri with interest for the first time since I've met him.

Interest for the mission anyway.

Demetri smiles knowing my attention is on him, "I'm supposed to leave in a few minutes, I was told I could go with who ever I wished."

"And you chose me." I say.

"What better partner than the Fire Witch herself?" Demetri says with a grin.

I feel myself smirk.

I don't particularly like Demetri but I don't see anybody else offering to take me on missions so…

"Deal, I'll come with you."

Ohhh What's going to happen with her and Demetri? What will Alec think when he knows?
