Seraphina's POV
I rush to the one nearest to me, the black haired male vampire.
He threw a punch but I quickly dodged it and kicked him in the stomach making him fly back.
I hear hurried footsteps behind me and I move to the side just as the tanned man threw a punch, I grabbed his outstretched hand, burning him in the process and send him flying into the wall of flames.
Oops, didn't mean to kill him that quick.
I look to see the brunette female looking at the wall of flames desperately, looking for a way to escape.
"You can't pass to the other side unless you cross but the chance of you surviving are slim to none." I say, tauntingly.
She turns back to me fear in her features, but her face hardens.
Aw trying to act tough, isn't that cute.
"I swear I wouldn't have hurt your mate." She says.
I chuckle darkly, "That's not what I saw you doing earlier, you agreed with the plan."
Her lips quivered knowing I'm right.
She starts running away and I let her before forming a fire ball and throwing it at her.
She dodges just in time.
Curses, I need to work on my aim.
I feel a punch on my back and I scream, I furiously turn around and see the youthful blonde.
"Punching me from behind, that's low." I say.
"Says the one burning everyone to a crisp." He replies smartly.
"You shouldn't have plotted against my mate." I sneered.
Before he could react, I pounced and grabbed his arms from behind and kicked him hard in the back.
Show him how it feels to get hit in the back.
After that I had him in the floor, and skillfully snatched his head from his body.
"I don't need to use my gift to kill you." I murmur and throw his head and then body to the wall of fire.
I search for my remaining targets.
"Three down, two to go." I mumble.
I see the black haired man look at me with anger in his eyes.
"You think you're so powerful with that fire gift of yours."
I know so.
"You are not the only one with gifts." He gives a sly smile. "I, too, possess a gift!"
Out of nowhere I feel a strong force blow me away.
I grab a tree in order to not get blown away again.
It's the wind! He control air.
"See! Foolish girl! Who's mighty now?!" The black haired guy cackles.
I roll my eyes.
This guy is getting on my nerves.
"Still me." I answer and make fire come out from where he is standing.
He screams and uses his gift to try to extinguish the flame but I just make my fire stronger.
Before long he is enraptured in flames.
"Moron, if he would have been smart, he could have used his gift and extinguished the wall of flames enough for him to escape." I say to myself.
Specially when I was busy fighting the others.
Another vampire was still keen on escaping as she kept eyeing the wall of flames.
"It's only me and you." I tell the brunette girl.
She sees me and looks around her, noticing I had killed all of her comrades.
She gulps back, the fear in her face only doubles.
She looks to the fire wall and then to me, and rushes towards the fire.
The fire wall being too strong swallows her whole.
"Told you, you wouldn't make it." I whisper to the air.
I then hear the sound of clapping.
I turn towards the noise and see Demetri clapping, with a sly smile.
"Well done, Seraphina."
I look at him boredly, "I see you didn't move a muscle."
"You had it all under control, I would have stepped in the moment you needed me." He assured me.
"Mhm." I roll my eyes.
"We make a marvelous team." Demetri says with a cocky smile.
"You standing there and me doing all the work, yes a marvelous team." I answer sarcastically.
"I didn't just 'stand there'." Demetri says offended. "I tracked him, remember?"
"I suppose." I reply.
I make the fire disappear, only leaving ash, smoke and debris behind.
"Lets head back." I tell him.
And with that we head back.
I smirk.
This should be enough to show my abilities and finally go to official missions.
Alec's POV
I was growing desperate.
I had been looking for all Volterra with my sister for hours on end and to no avail, she was nowhere to be found.
"Brother, we have looked everywhere in Volterra. She is not here." Jane reasons with me.
"Where else could she have gone!?" I ask her, angrily. I've been growing more agitated with every passing hour.
I could feel my sister gulp back at my tone, not used to me being angry but still replies, "She may have left Volterra."
I growl, feeling frustrated.
"We should go back to the castle, Aro might be able to help us." Jane says.
I nod, not seeing any other option.
Why did she do this?
I understand she was angry at me for not letting her go on missions but it was just to protect her.
I should have heed Aro's words when he told me Seraphina has a habit of leaving covens after a few months.
But what about our love? How could she just leave?
Before I can torment myself longer, we arrive to the Volturi castle and are soon greeted by the secretary.
"Has she come back?" I ask her, ignoring her greeting.
"N-no, sir." She shakes her head and turns to Jane worriedly.
I walk past her bristly, my sister by my side.
We soon reach the throne room and my sister knocks.
"Come in!"
We both enter the throne room, and as usual the three masters are seated in their thrones.
"Ah~ Alec, you've returned." Aro says, happily.
"Hope you returns with good news." Caius says with a frown.
"I'm afraid not, Master." I scowl. "There is no trace of Seraphina in all of Volterra."
"Oh heavens, this is dilemma." Aro says, worriedly. "I didn't think this would make her so angry to leave us."
"Neither did I." I reply. "I would like to request permission to travel outside Volterra to look for her."
"That would be ideal." Aro says. "Unfortunately Demetri is on a mission, but he can track her as soon as he is back."
"I don't need him." I sneer. "I can look for my mate on my own."
"And what makes you think you'll find her?" Caius asks me.
"She's my mate." I state.
"That didn't stop her from leaving." Caius taunts.
I snap, my sisters hand not reaching me in time and dash towards Caius, I grab him from his shirt pulling him up.
"Put me down Alec!" He orders, anger in his features but I can see the fear in his eyes.
I glare at him, the respect I have for him disappearing completely.
How dare he say that! He doesn't even have a real mate himself! He had to make one!
"Alec, stand down." Aro orders me, sounding serious.
I narrow my eyes before letting go of Caius.
Aro sighs, "Caius please think before you speak. The boy is franticly looking for his mate and you're not helping."
Caius scowls but doesn't say anything.
Aro then turns to me, "Young Alec, I understand you're desperately looking for your mate but don't forget Caius is still your Master."
I purse my lips and nod.
"As for your request, I really do believe it would be better to wait for Demetri. He shouldn't take too long, he should return by tomorrow noon the latest." Aro says.
"Ah but Master, you should know I am much more faster than that." A sly voice says.
I recognize that annoying voice anywhere, but what truly captures my attention is another scent that comes from the same direction.
I look back towards the doors and find Demetri and…
"Not just fast but efficient as well." a melodic voice says.
My mate…
"Well I am anyways, can't say the same for Demetri here." Seraphina chuckles.
"Ah~ Seraphina! You are back, we were growing…worried." Aro says and looks my way at the end.
My attention was solely focused on my mate though.
I scanned her, looking for any injuries.
Thankfully she wasn't injured in the lightest, on contrary she was elated.
If I wasn't so worried for her I would be happy myself to seeing her so happy.
"Worried? What for?" She scoffs. "I can take care of myself. Demetri can attest for that." She smirks and turns to the blonde at her side, who chuckles and nods.
My insides churn at the closeness they seem to share.
Since when are they so close?! I thought he was annoying to her and she had no interest in him!
Fury and indignation curses through my veins as I stare at my mate smugly talk about her feats with Demetri at her side.
"I have easily disposed of Roberto and his rebel group, no backup or-" she turns to me. "Babysitter needed."
I swear if this woman wasn't my mate I would have destroyed her.
Demetri snickers at her comment.
I have no problem destroying him though.
"Those weren't your orders!" Caius yells and then turns to Demetri's. "Or yours!"
Demetri's smile slightly falters but he replies, "I was told I could bring anyone on the mission with me, I was never specified to not being her."
Slimy bastard, if the masters don't punish him I'll be sure to do it myself.
"He does bring a good point." Aro muses.
I stare intently at my master.
You're not supposed to agree with him!
"Either way, the threat has been disposed all thanks to me." Seraphina smirks.
"Us." Demetri corrects her but she simply rolls her eyes.
"Not us, he tracked and I got rid of them." Seraphina specifies.
Demetry grins slyly and places his arm around her, "Don't we make a wonderful team?"
Jealousy and fury overtakes me and I almost dash to beat over the obnoxious blonde when my sister grabs my arm stopping me.
"Brother, not in front of the masters. You might be punished." She warns me.
I'm about to shake her off, not caring about the punishment as long as Demetri learns his lesson, when I hear a hiss of pain.
I look at the source and see Demetri clutching his hand as he hisses with pain.
"Damn Seraphina, I thought we were friends." Demetri grumbles.
My mate glares at him, "As if those were your intentions with me, don't touch me again or I won't stop with your hand and I'll burn you completely."
A sly smirk appears on my face as Demetri is finally given a warning by none other than my mate herself.
Aro seems to be more interested in how she defeated the rebels as he quickly says, "Seraphina I'd love to see how you carried out your mission."
Aro offers his hand and my mate touches his, letting him see her battle.
After a few seconds Aro cackles in delight, "Wonderful, oh so wonderful. Your power really is unmatched, none of them even had a chance against the Fire Witch herself."
Seraphina's smile only widens by his words and so does her ego.
"As I so many times told you but you refused to believe me."
"I believed you dear, but we were simply being careful." Aro smiles.
Seraphina takes her hand away and with a hand on her hip she asks, "Will I finally be given missions?"
And to my anger and her joy, Aro responds with, "Absolutely!"
Seraphina's POV
With my goal reached, I exit the huge door and not a second after I exit I am grabbed by a strong arm and pulled to an empty hallway.
I let myself be dragged away as I know fully well who it is.
"Well hello Alec, didn't you see you there."
Of course its a lie, I ignored him with all my might during the briefing I had with the masters, the only time I looked at him was to spite him by calling him a babysitter.
It surprised me how quiet he was during the whole thing I expected him to quickly tell Aro how wrong I was and how I should have more training and whatnot.
"Why did you do this?" He asks me, anger and hurt clear in his features.
A pang of guilt hits me but I soon wave it away.
No, I needed to do this and he wasn't helping me.
"I had to. I know what I can do and the extent of my powers and I needed to prove it to them. To you. What I'm capable, as none of you seem to believe all that I can do." I said, my voice full of resolve.
"I know what you can do, how amazing you are. But why did you have to leave without telling me. Why did you leave with him!" Alec says, growing furious by the end.
"Hey! Its not my fault he was the only one willing to help me reach my goals unlike…!" I say but I don't finish it off.
"Unlike me?" He says finishing my sentence.
I look at his face and I feel my heart break as his face shows profound sadness.
"I was looking for you for hours. I was growing mad as I thought I lost you. But it's obvious from your words and your display at the Master's room how you didn't even think about me when you left. You were simply thinking about yourself and your goals."
A punch would have hurt less than his words did, but nevertheless the punch was delivered as his words hit me hard.
It's not the first time I've been told that.
I know I'm selfish, I know I'm self-centered.
I've always been on my own, so that's what I'm used to.
Just caring about myself.
Alec looked at me intently, waiting for me to respond but for the first time in a long time I didn't know what to reply.
If it would have been anyone else, I would have scoffed and told them that's how I am and if they don't like it, they can leave.
Which is how I lost many friendships and been kicked out of covens.
But it's different with him.
I actually care about him and know it will destroy me if things ended between us.
After a long silence, Alec continues, "Do you feel anything for me? Are my feelings for you one-sided? Would you have preferred Demetri to be your mate?"
My eyes widen and I quickly reply, "Of course I feel something for you! And I have no interest in Demetri! When he's acting decent at the most he's an ally but that's it."
It's true, even if I hadn't met Alec I would have never been interested in Demetri. Casanovas have never been my type or blondes for the matter.
"Then why must you always go against my wishes!" He yells angry.
I start to feel eyes on us and I notice the once empty hallway is beginning to fill with curious vampires.
"What are you looking at?!" I yell at the eavesdroppers. "Scram before I burn your eyes!"
They all quickly run off, but I still don't feel comfortable discussing this in a hallway as others could come.
This time I grab his hand.
"Lets go to my room." I say calmly and see how his eyes soften.
We quickly dash to my room and don't begin talking until the door is closed.
"Okay, Alec we must make some things clear in our relationship or else we will keep having arguments."
He doesn't respond but his attention is solely on me letting me continue.
"I care for you, I truly do, more than anyone I've met in my hundreds of years of 'living'." I say gently and put his hands on mine.
I can definitely see him calm down from my words and my touch.
"But that doesn't mean I'm going to bend to your every command. I care for you and want us to have a happy relationship. But I will still be me and want you to respect my wishes." I tell him with resolve.
He stays quiet for a bit before responding, "And your wishes are to fight."
"That's right." I answer.
He sighs before looking at me again, "Fine, I'll respect your wishes."
I instantly bright up.
Finall-
"But in return-" He continues.
Damn it, I knew it wouldn't be that easy.
"I want you to never leave me." He was ever so serious.
"What?" I ask.
I'm then pulled into an embrace, he hugs me tightly, so tightly he might have broken something if I was human.
Thankfully I'm not.
"You have no idea what I felt... I thought you didn't care about me anymore. That your ambition was more important than our relationship." He says, his voice raw with feeling.
I feel my chest hurt, I didn't mean to hurt him. I was just focused on finishing the mission.
"Alec, look at me." I tell my mate.
He slowly parts from me enough for me to see his face.
I caress his face and smile gently, "I love you. I didn't mean to hurt you. I'll always tell you when I have to go on a mission just like you tell me."
I notice Alec widen his eyes, at my confession.
I had never told him I loved him, he has told me few times over the months but I always felt too bashful to do the same.
Yes, believe it or not I can get bashful.
I'm used to guys fawning over me but the feeling has never been mutual.
Not until Alec.
He smiles handsomely and I can feel my insides melt.
He puts his hand over my hand thats gracing his cheek, his touch giving me warmth to my otherwise cold body.
"Its a promise." He smiles.
I grin back and to make it official our faces inch forward until we kiss.
The kiss sent a shiver through my spine, his kisses always leaving me wanting more.
Our kiss soon becomes more passionate as I can feel how much he missed me in the past few hours.
If I knew he was going to become this passionate I would have left months ago.
...I'm kidding! as much as I love this assertive attitude of his, I know it really hurt him that I left.
I feel him snake his arms around my frame as the kiss grows more heated.
My hands are around his neck as the kiss deepens.
Though before it can get too heated, we hear a familiar, monotone voice.
"Hope I'm not interrupting anything."
We separate and look towards the source of the voice and find Jane by the door her with her usual pokerface but I can see slight amusement in her eyes.
"Impeccable timing as always, sister." Alec says sarcastically.
I lightly chuckle and start walking towards Jane, "You didn't interrupt anything important, Jane." I say and turn to Alec mischievously.
He glares at me.
Jane in return smirks, "Glad to hear it. Well I came to talk to you as I didn't expect you to show up to the Throne room with Demetri by your side no less."
"That makes two of us." Alec grumbles and he walks closer to us.
I look pointedly at Alec, "As I had told your brother I simply went to Demetri as he offered to take me on a mission, no more no less."
Jane nods, accepting my answer.
Wish Alec was this easy to convince.
Jane lightly smiles, "Well I'm happy you're back, me and my brother were worried sick."
I'm touched by her concern, I know she rarely cares about anyone.
Kind of like me, no wonder we get along so well.
I grab her hands and smile, "Thanks for looking for me, but you have nothing to worry about I'm not going anywhere."
Both twins smile at my words and I can see relief in their features.
I need to learn it's not just me anymore, there's people that care about me and want me at their side.
And for the love I have for them as well, I will stay with them.
Sorry for taking long! I'm not used to writing fight scenes so it took me awhile. Hope it wasn't bad.
Seraphina returned! Good thing cause Alec was going crazy haha.
What do you think? Please do comment! I'd love to hear your thoughts!
