Chapter 40
Last time, Team RWBY finally made it to the Hotwater Gym after going through a jungle. They met the gym leader, Adrian, who spoke in a manner from the Galar Region while also surfing. Yet Rusty washed-up on the shore and wanted to fight. Adrian agrees and uses a Chatot but Rusty uses Boldore and Rusty manages to win with ease. This was a shock to everyone as if Rusty has changed. Now, the conclusion of this gym battle.

Rusty and Adrian are about to conclude the battle with Rusty managed to gain the advantage.
"Can't believe that dolt is winning." Weiss says in disbelief.
"Neither can I." Yang is just as stunned. "Who would've thought that Rusty could win. I mean, he was a complete mess when we last saw him."
"Guess studying at school must've worked." Blake says.
"Indeed." Weiss agrees with Blake. Then looks at Ruby, "Studying is very important if you want to get ahead in life."
Blake also look at Ruby, "Unlike some people that should be leading by example."
Yang also look at Ruby, "And one should never skip on any homework no matter how dull it is."
Ruby look at her teammates staring at her, "Why is everyone looking at me?"
Back on the battlefield, Adrian goes, "You ready, Rusty!?"
"Always!" Rusty is determine to win his next badge.
"Alroight ya little man, time to kick things up a notch!" He throws his pokeball, "Go, Corsola!"
Adrian's next Pokemon is a Corsola. But this one is different. The top part of its body is all jet black with the reef branches looking crystallized, almost as if they are made of obsidian. It has red eyes and a glowing underbelly that resembles a flame as the yellows, reds and oranges swirl around. It is ready for battle as it fires flaming jets from its branches.
"What is that?!" Ruby is surprise by the next Pokemon, "Yet very cute though."
"Dang!" Yang is impressed, "Now that's a Pokemon I would like!"
"It is cute, I would say." Weiss judges, "But not sure about the crystal branches. It makes it a little bit creepy."
Blake pulls out her Megadex to learn more.
Corsola. The coral Pokemon. Ultima form. Fire and water-type. Due to the volcanic activity of Obsidian Coral Reef, the Corsola had to adapt to the new changes to their environment. Able to camouflage from any predators with its surroundings and able to thrive on the volcanic soot from geothermal vents. The belly of this Pokemon can reach up to 1,000 degrees when threaten.
"Obsidian Coral Reef, huh?" Blake is interested. "I think that I saw something like that on the map about underwater trains passing by it."
Rusty then throw his pokeball, "Go, Machoke!"
Rusty's Machoke popped out yet it is completely different. It has black skin, three yellow ridges on its head, yellow vertical stripes on its muscular arms and a lightning bolt on the right side of its muscles of its torso. It has navy blue briefs with a black and gold electric belt resembling a championship belt. It slams its fists together and produce electricity while emitting a warcry.
"What is that?!" Weiss freaks out by the sight of this new Pokemon.
"It looks like a Machoke." Yang points out, "But looks...different."
Blake uses the Megadex again.
Machoke. Omuran form. The thunder Pokemon. Electric and fighting-type. A belt is worn by a Machoke to keep its overwhelming power under control. Because it is so dangerous, no one has ever removed the belt.
AN: This Pokemon is from Pokemon Empyrean...and boy does it have some disturbing boss Pokemon.
Ruby whistles, "Reminds me of Nora. Super strong and uses electricity."
Yang asks, "Is there a Machoke that is also a fire-type?"
The battle begins!
Adrian orders, "Corsola, use lava beam!"
Corsola aims its branches at Machoke and fires a beam that looks like lava.
"Machoke, use force palm!"
Machoke thrusts its right palm with with a great amount of force. So great that it deflected the lava beam up into the ceiling. Once that is done, Machoke's right hand is bright red from the scorching heat of that attack.
"Charge in and use bubble beam!"
Corsola moves fast to get a closer before jumping into the air to shoots a stream of blue bubbles from its branches. Machoke just smirks as it easily dodges the attack by just moving slightly away from the direction of the attack as if it was child's play.
"Use thunder shock!"
All the areas of Machoke's body that are yellow started to glow yellow and give off sparkling yellow electricity before firing an electrical bolt from its three ridges right at Corsola with such amazing speed that Adrian never ordered Corsola to dodge.
"Oh no!" Adrian realizes that his Corsola is in deep trouble.
Even worse, Corsola's body started to be effected by yellow electrical sparks. Corsola is now paralyze.
"That ain't good!" Adrian is in deep trouble now.
Rusty turns his hat backwards, "Now that was shocking!"
Yang says with her arms cross, "Now that was terrible."
The other three members of Team RWBY snicker at Yang for being a hypocrite.
"But now's the time for the, big smack down! Machoke, use close combat!"
Machoke closes in by running towards Corsola to prepare to use close combat.
Adrian says, "Quick, get out of the way!"
But Corsola can't move. Still under the effects of paralyze.
"Oh no."
Once Machoke is close enough, Corsola is doom. Machoke unleashes a flurry of punches and chops with its hands glowing white at Corsola with its health bar turning red on the screen.
"Now finish it off with force palm!"
Machoke uses its left palm to deliver the final blow as he knocks Corsola close to Adrian's feet. And with that, Corsola returns to its pokeball and a buzzing sound is heard. The screen shows Rusty as the winner.
Rusty jumps up and down, "WE DID IT!"
Machoke then flex its muscles while doing a little victory dance with Rusty and give each other a high-five.
"Ow!"
Which resulted in Rusty having a sore hand.
Weiss is completely stunned by this turn of events, "That idiot won? On his first try?"
"Rusty actually won." Ruby confirms.
"I can see that, you dolt!" Weiss glares at Ruby.
Blake compliments, "He took us all by surprise and he has gotten good."
Before Yang can speak, Blake place a finger on Yang's lips.
"Please, no puns."
"I was gonna say; that guy is going places."
"Good."
"All he has to do is Machoke his way to victory because he was Feleng it. Eh?"
Blake just look at Yang with disappointment.
"What?"
After that, Rusty stands in front of Adrian, who is holding a tray to present Rusty is reward. Team RWBY are right behind him as Adrian presents Rusty his badge.
"Rusty," Adrian speaks, "you have surprise me in more ways than one during out battle. For your cunning and quick thinking, you have earn the Palm Badge and a TM02: Whirlpool. Along with ₽3,040. "
The Palm Badge looks like a palm tree with coconuts on it with bananas under the coconuts while the trunk is on an upside down blue triangle with waves on it.
Rusty hold his awards up in the air, "Alright! I got my second badge and a TM!"
Team RWBY give Rusty an applause as he jumps around and dance for his victory.
But he stops to ask Adrian, "By the way, where did you get that Corsola?"
"I got it from the Obsidian Coral Reefs just southeast of the island."
"Cool, thanks."
Before Rusty heads out, Blake asks, "Hey, Rusty? What happened to Rotomdex?"
"Oh right! I need to plug him in." He looks back at Adrian, "Can you point me to the nearest outlet so I can get Rotomdex recharged? I keep forgetting to recharge his batteries."
Adrian points one located where Rusty came out.
"Thanks awesome gym leader!" Rusty runs off and plug in Rotomdex.
After a few seconds, Rotomdex started to wake-up. "Oooohhh..." he doesn't sound well. "What happened?"
"Hey, Rotomdex! Sorry for not getting you charged earlier!"
"Rusty? Rusty!? Rusty, you absent minded jerk! You're lucky I can't get out of this thing so I can find someone better! You left me uncharged for what feels like two weeks!"
"A week in a half, actually. But I got some good news! I won my second badge and it only took me one try!"
"What?! IMPOSSIBLE?!" Rotomdex finds it hard to believe, "There is no way you could've won!"
But Rusty shows off his new badge, "See?"
"WHa-wha-whaAAT!?" Then Rotomdex starts to have a break down, "Does not compute! Does not compute!" His screen goes dark with smoke bursting out of the spike on his head before shutting down. Completely.
"Uh-oh." He looks at everyone, "Does anyone know where I can find a mechanic?"
Adrian goes, "Oh dear."
Team RWBY head over to a bungalow and it is very nice and furnished for a jungle hut. The floor is clean and made of jungle wood planks, has some jungle theme decorations with two beds and two hammocks for bunk beds. Even has a jungle-themed bathroom with a jacuzzi tube and large shower head, the toilet in a shape of a tiki-head, the sink is in a shape of a fern bush with the faucets being mushroom shape, and the tile has some weird islander theme swirls of blue, yellow and green. It also has a small kitchen with a mini-fridge, an oven with two stove burners, a microwave, and has handcrafted Alolan-style dishes in the cabinets.
Yang whistles, "Daaaannngg. This place is awesome!" she throws her arms up in the air.
Weiss doesn't seem to like it, "I don't like the decor though. I mean, we've just went through a jungle for crying out loud."
Blake sits on one of the beds, "At least the beds are comfy. Better than camping."
"True." Weiss admits that it is better than camping in a jungle.
Ruby dashes, "Dips on a hammock!" as she jumps into one.
"Count me in!" and Yang jumps into the other one.
Both sisters swing back and forth on them as they laugh because they are having fun.
But Blake asks Yang, "Don't you have a battle to prepare for?"
Yang stops, "Oh right! I should make a battle plan." Yang thinks about it as Weiss lies down in the last bed, "That Chatot of Adrian's seem to be very fast and able to take on rock-types. Flying-types are good against grass, fighting, ground and bug-types. Yet they are also weak against ice, rock and electric-types. But with Chatot's steel wing, rock and ice-types won't be effective as much. So I'm gonna have to use an electric-type." Yang pulls out her Megadex, "Better check the Pokemon I caught to double-check. We caught a whole bunch in the jungle."
Blake says, "Not to mention his Ultima Corsola. That Pokemon is both a fire and water-type. Fire-types are strong against grass, bug, steel, and ice-types. Water-types are strong against ground, rock and fire-types. Fire is weak against water and ground and water is weak against electric and grass. But both types are ineffective against dragon-types. However, I'm not sure the Pokemon we caught are consider dragon-types."
"Then check your Megadex."
Blake pulls out her Megadex, "On it."
So Blake and Yang try to see their options for facing against Adrian while Weiss and Ruby head out towards the beach.
Ruby and Weiss are walking along the beach. They enjoy their walk as they smell the sea, watch the waves, see the Wingulls flying over the horizon and water-type Pokemon breaching out of the water. They pull out their Megadexes to see the different kinds there are.
That is when Ruby gets distracted, "Look at that seashell!" She runs up to the shell washed ashore.
She picks up a strange scallop with all sorts of red hues ranging from dark crimson at the base to bright red towards the edges.
Ruby shows it to Weiss, "Look at this! It totally matches my color scheme! And its really pretty."
Weiss then sees a dosina shell that is bright white and glittering. She picks it up, "I got a good one as well!" Now she is going completely out of character. Acting like an excited little kid.
And so, the two gather a lot of seashells and place them in their bag. Not long, Yang and Blake join in after coming up with some strategies and know which Pokemon to use in their battles tomorrow. So, they joined in on collecting seashells.
"Man, I would love to swim." Yang says while looking at the sea, "If I would've know we would be at a beach, I would've gotten us some swimsuits."
"Yeah." Weiss agrees with Yang, "I could use a tan."
"But we have something that is just as fun." Blake says.
Ruby asks, "Like what?"
Blake pulls out her fishing rod, "Wanna catch some water-types?"
And so, Team RWBY spent the remainder of the day catching a few water-types with their fishing rods. By the end of the day, they managed to catch 20 different Pokemon. As for who got what, well, best to wait and see next time. And on that day, Yang or Blake are gonna have a battle against Adrian. Or better yet, a tag gym battle! Until then, to be continued.
AN: Hey everyone! Glad to be back and glad that you guys have been patient...despite some of the stuff that went down and...yeah. Let's change the subject. Just to let you guys know that when The Rising of the Post-Apocalyptic Shield Hero ends, the forum I made will close when the new story begins. If you guys have any idea on what can survive, please look at the link in the previous chapter. Despite everything, I hope this year will be better than the last. Well, hopefully in the second half once we get our vaccines and stuff and we won't have to wear masks anymore. Hopefully.
