. 23. One brief Moment – Deja-vu
For one brief moment their lips connected in a sweet kiss.

One brief moment.
One brief kiss.
One brief second of comfort.
Enough to slip attention.

In the next moment she was lying in his arms with a pain contorted face and coughing hard while her warm blood was seeping through his hands.

"Sasuke-kun?"
The last Uchiha and Naruto were startled by the unexpected female voice which both knew from the past. They turned into the direction of the person approaching the cave.

"Watch out!" The woman at the entrance shouted breathlessly, as if she had been running for a while. She pointed at the women inside the cave.
Right in that moment of distraction it had happened. One of the women inside had shot an arrow aimed for Kakashi. The woman at the entrance shrieked.
All of a sudden Sakura had managed to spin them around in a blast to shield the man she loved. She got shot in her back with an arrow that was aimed for Kakashi. The pinkette had used all her remaining force to do so. Her eyes went wide as she broke down unable to move. Her body felt like it was burning from the inside. The hokage pulled her close into his arms and desperately looked for help.
Yoko laughed insanely, "Now you will suffer for the rest of your miserable life, Kakashi!" She was leaning against a wall immobilized from her neck downwards. "Suffer and watch her die instead! Her life will be seeping through your fingers no matter what you're going to do, that's for sure."
The other women started laughing, except for the approaching one who held her hands up high in surrender.

"The bitch who pestered kazekage-sama finally gets what she deserves!", claimed one woman happily and the last Uchiha beamed at her.
Everything inside of Sasuke exploded and he caught the maniacal laughing woman in a torturous genjutsu.

Naruto stormed over for assistance and they captured Karin and led her to the remaining captives, which had been tied up by the clones with chakra suppressive rope.
Karin whispered to Naruto, "You must know that they are skilled botanists from Suna."
"Of course they are." The blonde roughly tied her hands.

"Highly skilled in toxicology and shinobi skills." The redhead tried to explain.
"Sure." Naruto was unnerved.
.
"I'm not a threat!" She sounded sincere.
The blonde man snorted and pushed her forward to the captives.
.
Then Yoko laughed bitterly and said, "And I thought I would finally get the chance to watch him die like he watched me once." Then she bit on something that gave her body spasms and she stopped breathing as life left her body.
"What did she use? Tell us!" Naruto shouted.
"You will never save her. We'll take our secret with us into grave." Then the other captives laughed and bit on their capsules which they had to be hiding in their mouths. Naruto cursed as the two women fell to the floor with foam seeping from their mouths.

Sasuke glared daggers at Karin, "Do not even think about it!"
Karin looked in shock at the remaining woman in genjutsu, who seemed to have already passed away.
"I don't have such a capsule. I'm not your enemy, I'm here to help you!"

It was a horrible sight.
The bleeding and unmoving Sakura in Kakashi's arms while he tried to stop the blood loss and talked to her. "Sakura, I'll stop the bleeding. Help me, stay conscious. I need you, please!"
For the infamous medic-nin it was no easy task, again and again she drifted off to unconsciousness. Basic medical jutsu didn't seem to work. The stressed copy-nin pressed his fingers hard against the streaming wound.
Her already pale lips formed her last word before it all went black: POISON.
Kakashi had never looked so helpless in his whole life.
