It hadn't taken long for rumor to spread about Jaden turning down a duel because of the stakes and positively terrifying the captain of the Tennis team as well.
Most were shocked, Jaden almost never turned down a duel! And while he could try and act mean sometimes he certainly never seemed to be the kind of guy who could or would terrify someone, especially not someone like Harrington. Many wondered what Harrington had wagered or said that could have possibly pissed off the most naïve but skilled Slifer.
Funny enough the entire girls dorm knew about the incident and why Jaden reacted the way he did in less than an hour after Mindy and Jasmine got back from the Tennis Court, and hearing Jaden's reasons for turning down the duel and scaring the crap out of Harrington had earned him more than a few brownie points with the female duelists on the island. Jaden was very confused by the girls suddenly defending him from other bullies or those mocking him for turning down Harrington's duel.
Crowler found the whole thing hilarious naturally and had a quiet word with Harrington for his behavior later. Such a thing was unbefitting a member of the Obelisk Blue dorm.
Not to mention that he didn't want the arrogant playboy anywhere near his baby girl. Whether he knew about Jaden's real gender or not. And Crowler made firmly sure that Harrington did not know his daughters real gender.
What caught everyone's attention though was the fact that a bunch of Obelisk Blues were being challenged to Duels and getting their asses kicked, having their rarest card and their blazer taken once they lost to the giant.
And apparently the term Giant was quite literally if you listened to the rumors. Being over six or seven feet tall and as thick as a full grown oak tree.
Jaden was deadpanning as he looked at the ones who were saying those rumors and then at the teachers and security force scrambling to figure out who it was. Seriously? There was only one person who came remotely close to fitting that description that he knew of on the entire island.
Was what it that Aunt Fonda said before? Something about common sense being lacking? Well she was very much right.
Going to her fathers office she informed him that she knew who the Duel Giant was and that she could catch him easily if he let her borrow a blue Obelisk uniform. He beamed at her.
"My little girl in her proper uniform! Of course princess! I had one made for you at the start of the school year!" Crowler said immediately going to his cabinet and withdrawing a female Obelisk uniform which made Jaden deadpan. It didn't help that she could hear Burstinatrix already talking about how cute her 'princess' would look in the blue and white skirt and shirt.
"Daddy…you don't want anyone to discover my gender do you?" Jaden asked slowly and making Crowler blink and then look at the uniform in his hands and then pout.
"I had it made in case your gender was discovered." Crowler admitted sheepishly as he rubbed the back of his neck.
"Always being prepared. I just need a blazer daddy." Jaden said sighing but looking fondly amused at her fathers antics.
"Of course princess. You know most of the school would be expecting me to somehow punish you after this or for you to be given a reward." Crowler said pointing out the obvious as he looked at his daughter who frowned.
"I understand the part about you having to punish me for show, but I don't need or want a reward. This duelist is taking his opponents cards, cards that they care for and put a piece of their soul into. How would you feel if someone took Ultimate Ancient Gear Golem or Blood Golem from you?" Jaden asked looking at the special hidden spot in the cabinet that contained the cards which had been her mothers last gift to her father before her mother had vanished. Both of them were ultra rare cards, with Blood Golem being a limited edition. There was only twenty five of them ever made.
Immediately Jaden could see the rage and heartbreak on her fathers face and he nodded once sharply in understanding. If anyone had taken two of the only three gifts he had of his wife that he had at the school…he would lose his mind.
"I understand. Give them a lesson that they won't ever forget, my little vampire princess." Crowler said pressing a kiss to his daughters head and making her nod sharply in agreement.
"I'll be using that deck…I won't let you down daddy." Jaden said making her father smile softly at her.
"You never do baby girl. Now shoo. Here's the blazer and you have a Giant to trap." Crowler said handing his daughter a blue Obelisk blazer. Crowler was treated to one of his daughters grins that showed just how pointy her eye teeth were. Something she inherited thanks to her vampire mother.
"I'll be done by morning at the latest daddy. After all…" Jadens grin widened and his brown eyes flashed a bloody red.
"Giants are prey for Vampires." Her voice even echoed a bit as she seemed to nearly glide from the room, her vampiric side coming out a bit more than normal.
"She is just like her mother." Crowler said shaking his head fondly as his daughter nearly ran down the hall, her feet not seeming to hit the floor at all. That was both a good and bad thing in his mind. After all her mother had been a wonderful amazing loving woman, even when she lost her humanity,…however her mother had also had a lot of fanboys and guys that wanted her. There was no way in hell that Crowler was letting fanboys and playboys and jerks anywhere near his little girl.
"There you are Bastion!" Jaden said perking up after she followed her nose towards her friend who had just gotten done winning a duel against another Ra.
"Jaden? What can I do for you?" Bastion asked raising an eyebrow and wondering why Jaden had a blue blazer on. He did have to admit that it looked good on the girl in disguise however.
"You know about this Duel Giant going around?" Jaden asked making Bastion nod. Of course he did. It would be an ignorant fool who did not hear the rumors, and he was neither ignorant or a fool.
"You plan to lure him into a trap by using yourself as bait?" Bastion questioned as he looked at the blazer his friend was wearing.
"You know it. Mind coming along to act as backup? Since he attacks at night it's doubtful I'll need the backup but I figure it would give me a witness as to what happens and reassure the teachers." Jaden said and glancing back the way he came Bastion followed his gaze and his eyes lit up with understanding when he realized who particularly he meant. After all the way she had just came from had Crowlers office along with the nurses office and a little ways down was the Chancellor's office. All three who cared greatly for Jaden and would be very much relieved that she had backup when dealing with a potentially dangerous foe.
"Understandable. I'd be glad to accompany you. Let me know when and where we are to meet up once darkness falls." Bastion said making Jaden flash him a fang toothed grin that nearly caused him to blush. Nearly because he had much more control of himself than that.
He would never stoop so low as to lose his head over a girl after all.
