Off to Hawaii
*Chapter 8*
Day 1
Skye woke with sunlight softly touching her face, as she opened her eyes she glanced around and looked down to see she was lying on someone's chest. With a jolt she sat up, calming as she realized it was Phil, before blushing and quietly uncurling herself as she got up from the lounge chair the two had been sharing.
"A.C., get up. Your neck is gonna be sore from lying like this. Come on A.C. I'm gonna leave you here and go to breakfast alone." Skye threatened as she prodded at his chest.
"I thought I told you you can call me Phil." he groaned as he cracked open his eyes to stare up at her, a soft smile on his lips.
Skye chuckled quietly before sliding open the door and slipping inside, as she walked in she stopped and peered back at him.
"I'm going to go to the restaurant downstairs for breakfast. You coming or you gonna enjoy sleeping on the comfy lounge chair some more?" Skye teased before walking all the way in. Phil huffed out a laugh as he stood and walked inside behind her.
Skye slipped into her room and pulled open her drawers grabbing a pair of jean shorts and a tank top. After quickly brushing her hair into a ponytail she changed into her shorts and top and slipped on a pair of flip-flops before heading out into the main area.
"You ready to go?" she asked before stopping and staring at the empty room. Skye frowned and turned towards Phil's door which was partially opened.
"Hey Phil, you ready to go?" Skye asked as she pushed the door open a little. Phil was facing towards the wall with his shirt for the day in hand. As Skye peeked in her eyes moved through the room before landing on him and the scar that ran over the middle of his back. Skye stopped, staring at the jagged lines that ran across his back.
"Is that where it happened?" She questioned, her voice barely above a whisper. Phil turned towards her, dropping his shirt in shock.
"Skye? What are you talking about? Is what where what happened?!" Phil spluttered as Skye walked in and gestured to his scar.
"Oh...Yes that scar is from when Loki stabbed me." Skye nodded and walked towards him, looking at the similar scar on the front of his chest as well.
"Does it still hurt?" Phil shook his head before moving away from Skye and grabbing his shirt off the ground. Skye took a breath and turned towards the door.
"I'll, um, I'll just go wait in the main room. Uh, yeah, be ready soon." Skye stuttered as she pulled on the hem of her shirt and quickly walked out of the room.
Phil gave a nod and pulled on his shirt as the door shut with a soft click, Phil let out a breath. Before pulling on his shoes and walking out into the main area.
Skye was waiting in the main area playing on her phone and clicking through something as she stuck her tongue out in concentration.
"Ready?" Phil asked as he pulled open the door, Skye nodded as she walked past and called the elevator to their floor.
The two were silent as they walked down to breakfast, neither quite ready to discuss what had happened in the room earlier.
"I'm sorry A.C. I shouldn't have just barged in like that. I should've knocked, I just had noticed that the door was open and thought maybe you'd gone back out to the balcony, but I wanted to check!" Skye rambled, breaking the silence between the two.
"Skye, it isn't your fault yo-"
"I know that I didn't know, but still. You knocked before opening my door and I just walked right in! I just…." Skye trailed off as she looked at her hands, playing with her shirt hem once again. Phil waved off her apology before taking her hands in his
"Skye honestly, it's fine. It's not like you did it on purpose. We all walk into each other's bunks without knocking half the time. It's a habit." Skye smiled at Phil's words before tugging his hand to continue walking to the restaurant.
"Aloha! Welcome to Hau Tree! Table for 2?" the waitress greeted with a large smile and two menus in hand. Skye nodded and they followed the girl to a booth.
"Your waitress will be with you in a moment." the girl smiled before setting down their menus and walking back up to the front to greet another group that had come in.
After placing their order the two fell into easy conversation as they worked through their breakfast. As they laid out their plans for the day they finished and paid for their food before going back up to their hotel room.
"So are we swimming in the ocean or at the pool," Skye asked as she pulled the door shut behind them, "because I'm rooting for the ocean"
"I think the ocean sounds great, we can get changed and head down." Skye smiled and walked over to her door as Phil went into his own room.
Once in her room Skye grabbed her swimsuit bag and pulled out her swimsuit as well as her beach towel and sunscreen. After quickly changing she pulled on a pair of shorts, a shirt, and flip-flops, before stepped out into the main room. After a few minutes Phil walked out as well and gave her a smile.
"To the beach?" he asked as they walked over to the door. Skye gave a grin and nodded as she pulled open the door for the two to walk out.
"Definitely! Beach time!" Skye laughed as she walked over to the elevator and hit the button to call it up.
"You gonna work on your tan or you gonna join me for a swim? Either way, I have the sunscreen and I'm sure you remember how bad it was being burned after our trip to Peru." she smiled, her eyebrow quirked as she turned to face him.
"I think swimming would be fun. Peru was a nightmare in and of itself, so the fact that we all got sunburns from it does not surprise me nor do I wish to relive the pain from it." Phil chuckled as they stepped into the elevator and hit the button for the ground floor.
As the two stepped off the sidewalk and onto the sand Skye gave a whoop, before grabbing Phil's hand and dragging him to an empty set of chairs near the water.
"Skye the water isn't going anywhere!" Phil laughed at her antics, but continued to run with her. Skye stopped at a set of chairs and put her stuff down in one as Phil put his in the other.
After getting their stuff placed Skye quickly pulled off her sundress and grabbed the sunscreen. After putting a good amount on her front, legs, arms, and face she handed the bottle to Phil.
"Do you mind getting my back after you're done. I got my shoulders, but I can't reach past that." Skye smiled as she turned towards him. Phil nodded before working on putting on his own sunscreen and then turning back towards her and helping apply some to her back.
"Thanks Phil! Now we just gotta let this dry and we can go swimming!" Skye grinned before sitting in her chair and pulling out her book while she waited.
After a few minutes Skye looked at Phil and put her book away before standing up and kicking off her flip-flops.
"Ready to go for a swim?" Skye asked before rushing off towards the water with a laugh as Phil followed after her with a grin.
After spending their day at the beach and in the water the two began to pack their stuff up and head back towards the hotel.
"So where were you thinking for dinner? Cause I don't know about you, but I am famished after today." Skye smiled as the two stepped into the elevator and clicked the button for their floor.
"I found a place called Red Water Cafe. The reviews look pretty good, thought we might give it a look." Phil suggested, glancing over at her.
"Sounds fun, I call dibs on first shower. I'm pretty sure there is sand where sand should not be" Skye claimed as she shifted her bikini bottom through her sundress.
Phil gave a chuckle and a nod as the elevator dinged and the doors slid open. The two walked out and walked over to their door before swiping their key and walking in.
"Sounds good, be quick, I'd like a shower as well. As you said, the sand is traveling" Phil said as she walked into the bathroom and he put their stuff down in the living room.
After another 10 minutes Skye burst out of the bathroom door with her towel wrapped around her as she dashed from the bathroom towards her own room.
"Your turn!" she hollered before slamming her bedroom door shut. Phil stood for a moment before shaking his head and walking into the bathroom and closing the door behind him.
Skye poked her head out of her room and walked over to the bathroom, and gave a tentative knock.
"Phil? I think I left my bra in there. Are you still decent? Or do I need to wait?" As she finished the door cracked open and her bra appeared through the door, balanced on one finger.
"Thank you" Skye squeaked before returning to her room to finish getting dressed and walking out into the main area to wait for Phil, who had finished his shower and returned to his room.
After a moment his door opened and he stepped out with a gin. He stopped and looked at her for a moment before giving her a soft smile.
"You look beautiful" he complimented, causing her to blush and glance down at the floor, smoothing invisible wrinkles from her sundress.
"Thank you, not too bad yourself, shall we?" Skye replied, shooting him a smile of her own before heading out the door and going over to the elevator, with Phil behind her.
The drive to the restaurant was short and a calm silence settled over the two. The sun set down over the ocean as Phil pulled the car into the parking lot and turned it off before getting out and walking over to hold the door open for Skye. As the two walked up to the door, Skye reached down and grabbed Phil's hand before continuing the rest of the way.
"Aloha, Welcome to Red Water Cafe. Please seat yourself" read the sign by the front doors as the two walked in and looked for a seat before walking over to a booth a few tables down. As they sat a waiter came over and placed some utensils and menus at their seat.
"I'll be over in a minute to collect your orders," he said before walking off towards another booth filled customers.
Skye grabbed one of the two menus and began to browse it looking over at the entrees and drinks.
"What do you think? Ribs or curry?" Phil asked, peaking at Skye from over the top of his own menu. Skye smiled and looked up.
"I was thinking of the Ahi. I've never had it before, but it sounds delicious." she replied, glancing back down at her menu.
After ordering their drinks and food the two handed over their menus before turning back towards the table.
"I was thinking we could go exploring some tomorrow? There's supposed to be a waterfall a few miles from our hotel, maybe we could try and find it?" Skye suggested as the water dropped off their drinks.
"That could be fun. We could pick something up for lunch and have a picnic?" Skye grinned at the suggestion and nodded as she took a sip from her drink.
The waiter returned with their orders and silence resumed as the two began to dig into their dinners.
"You have to try this. Their Ahi is amazing." Phil looked at Skye as she cut a piece of the fish and held it out to him on her fork. After nodding he leaned forward to taste the fish.
"You're right that is good. Here try the curry." After holding out the spoon towards her with a grin Skye leaned forward to taste and gave a nod of approval, before taking a sip of her drink.
The two quickly finished before paying and heading back towards the hotel, exhausted after their long day.
