A/N: Grr, I know that I posted this chapter already, but FFN is being super weird and taking a lot of my chapters down from my stories, but just know I'm almost done with the next chapter. Sorry for getting hopes up for the next chapter with this update!
"The Public Restroom Confrontation"
"Has Sakura's results come back yet?" Syaoran asked as his eyes scanned over one of his patients charts, though he paid little attention to them. He just needed to look like he was here for other things, other than getting information on Sakura.
He had come to this floor specifically to find Sakura's doctor he assigned her to. He figured the results were in since it had been a little over a week.
"Ms. Kinomoto's?" Ruby asked, sitting down one of her own patient's chart
"Right," he said, realizing he had used her first name.
"I don't find it appropriate to discuss her medical information unless we had her consent," came the response from the doctor, surprising him.
"Excuse me?" he said, feeling offended that she had said something like that to him, despite him being the one to set the appointment for her.
"I don't think Ms. Kinomoto would feel comfortable with me discussing her medical information without her consent," Ruby said, sounding confident as if she would not get in trouble for withholding information from him.
"Dr. Ruby, I respect you and your position, which is why I put you behind the examination. But let us not forget that I assigned you to this job for my benefit as well," he said.
"And you are right, Dr. Li. However, per your policy, a patient must give consent to their medical information being discussed to another," Ruby said, keeping her eyes glued to her charts as if she were trying to avoid his eyes, something he picked up on immediately.
"Dr. Ruby," he called sternly, making her look at him. "The results...what did you find?"
As if she sensed the seriousness to his tone, she let out a sigh, shaking her head and looking apologetically all at once. "Ms. Kinomoto requested I not give you any of her medical information no matter the results, so I must respect a patient of mine," she said.
Syaoran froze for a moment, ears not believing what he had just heard from the woman.
Who does that woman think she is?
"Thank you," he said, deep in thought before walking off to get back to his patient he had waiting.
He would handle Sakura as soon as he saw her at Eriol and Tomoyo's surprise party since she nearly refused to see him these days.
Syaoran sat at the table with Yamazaki and one of the twins as he watched everyone talk amongst themselves while eating the hand-foods prepared or drinking wine out of fancy wine glasses.
There were a lot of unfamiliar faces here, which Syaoran assumed to be the Hiiragizawa's coworkers, while there were the faces he had been quite familiar with from the Takahashi's baby shower a few months ago. He spotted everyone he did not care to see, while the one face he looked for had not came into sight since he had been here.
Where could that woman be?
"Are you looking for someone specific?" Syaoran heard from the opposite direction his eyes had been trained on.
"Where's Sakura?" he asked, unashamed of who he wanted to see.
Granted, he did come here for Eriol since he had invited him to come, but he was hoping he could see Sakura today too.
"Hmm...she's been with Tommy all day," Yamazaki said, looking thoughtful about that question.
Syaoran frowned, wondering if she had run off every time Tomoyo came out of the kitchen area because he had seen Tomoyo a few times today and even spoke to her once when he first arrived. Yet, he always seemed to miss Sakura.
"You seem stressed. Want me to go get you a beer?" Yamazaki asked suddenly, breaking him from his thoughts.
His brows scrunched together in concentration before nodding his head. Maybe he did need to lay low for a bit. He came here to enjoy the company of his friends.
"Here, hold Chiyo while I go and get you one," Yamazaki said, standing from the chair and handing the little girl to Syaoran, not really giving him much of a choice but to hold her.
Immediately, Syaoran panicked, trying to hand the baby back to him. "Wait, wait, wait," he rushed out, feeling like he might harm the little being in his arms. "You don't want to trust me with your kid," he said, looking at Yamazaki pleadingly to take the baby from his hands as he held her up under her arms.
Yamazaki waved it off as if he did not even notice the anxiety Syaoran felt right now. "You're a doctor, so of course I trust you with my kid. Look, it'll be quick," Yamazaki said, already walking off before he could retaliate or stop him again.
"Yama...zaki," he said the last part of his name under his breath.
His eyes slowly shifted over to the infant in his hand, seeing her stare him dead in the eyes as if she were searching his soul. He swallowed, bringing her closer towards him to sit her in his lap. He froze when he heard a cooing sound come from the little girl before he realized she smiled at him, making him untense.
A small smile crept to his lips unconsciously as his other hand moved to smooth down the little strands of hair that were flying on her head. Chiyo giggled and reached up to grab his hand with her wet ones.
He cringed, but let the little girl clutch her fingers around his pointer finger tightly as if it were her favorite toy she did not want to share. When she tried bringing it to her mouth, he gently pulled his hand back with hers from her mouth, not wanting her to put any unnecessary germs in her mouth.
He swallowed, studying the baby's every reaction before an image of a baby Sakura came to mind. If they had a girl together, he was almost certain that the little girl would look exactly like her; innocent and sweet. And that...had never sounded more pleasant to him than it did right now.
"Here you go, man."
He looked in the direction of the voice, seeing Yamazaki stand with his beers in hand. "See? I told you that you'd be fine," he said, setting the beers on the table. "Matter of fact, she must really like you because she never lets anyone hold her these days without throwing a fit."
"R-really?" Syaoran stuttered, handing the little girl back to him carefully.
"Absolutely. She even cries when I have her when Chi is around," Yamazaki said, accepting Chiyo from him.
Syaoran popped open the beer, feeling a sense of emptiness when watching Yamazaki entertain the little girl. It almost felt like a loss of something he would never have. Especially since Sakura was keeping things from him.
At that thought, he drowned himself with the two beers Yamazaki had just brought him in mere seconds. He looked at Yamazaki and told him that he would be back to get something stronger than the beer. He walked around cluelessly, not sure where to go, as there were far too many unfamiliar faces here.
"Oh, Li-kun! I'm so glad you could make it," he heard a familiar voice behind him.
He whipped around immediately, seeing the best friend of the woman who had been hiding from him all night. "Daidouji," he acknowledged, nodding his head towards her. "How's everything going?"
She nodded, subconsciously placing her hand on her stomach to caress it. "Great. I have been feeling fantastic the last few days actually. I didn't think you'd make it out today," she said.
He shook his head slowly. "No...trying to do better with...attending my...friend's special occasions," he said awkwardly.
He could not tell why he felt awkward around the woman, but he wanted to bring up Sakura's whereabouts without seeming like he only came here today to see her.
"That's good you're coming around again. Sakura's been all over the place today, stressing about this when I told her she didn't have to go all out," Tomoyo said.
At the mention of her name, he looked at Tomoyo, only to see a knowing look on her face, making his cheeks warm at being exposed so easily. Was he that obvious?
"I haven't seen her around any today," he murmured under his breath, disappointed.
"Yeah, it's because she's a little bit of everywhere. This place she rented out is really nice though, isn't it?" she asked, gesturing for him to look at it.
At the mention of the building they were in, he looked around, seeing the city of Tomoeda behind the glass windows that appeared to be the entire building.
The building was fancy with tables he was sure that Sakura decorated with its teal clothes and flowers on the table with blue marbles in the bottom of the vase.
There was a food table that had been set up by the receptionist who seemed to be around the entire event.
"It does. When are you guys going to do the announcements?" he asked.
Sakura would surely have to show herself for that.
"In a few, actually. Eriol is going to do it," she said.
A small smile formed on his lips as he realized how happy Tomoyo was about their pregnancy. He wondered if Sakura would be the same way if she were pregnant. "I guess that's your cue then," he said, nodding towards the front of the room where he saw Eriol standing.
As soon as Eriol tapped the glass a little loudly, causing a clinking sound and saying, "May I get everyone's attention," all eyes fell to the front of the room.
Syaoran looked around the room, trying to see if Sakura would be here before he spotted her in the back of the room by the exit door. When their eyes locked, she looked away immediately as if she did not see him.
Without thinking, Syaoran found his legs leading him to her like a moth to a flame. The look in her eyes said that she would bolt, yet she stayed in that same spot, hiding behind everyone.
"I would like to thank everyone for taking the time to come out today for this special event. I'm honored..." everything else Eriol said was drowned out the closer Syaoran got to Sakura, feeling like they were the only two in the room at that moment.
As soon as he reached her, she looked at him again, jumping as soon as he grabbed her arm gently. "S-Syaoran," she whispered as if she had just noticed him when he appeared by her side.
He frowned, not liking that look in her eyes that was impossible to read. "Sakura—"
"They're about to announce the big news—"
He opened the door, pulling her out of the rented room with him and walking to the nearest door, and pulling her inside with him. He locked the door behind him, turning to her, only to notice they had been in the men's restroom that just happened to be one stall and sink, thankfully.
"Syaoran—"
"What were your test results? And why did you tell Dr. Ruby to keep them from me?" he asked in a disapproving tone.
She pursed her lips, a familiar look he knew as her about to be stubborn. "I wanted to hear the announcement, you know? This could've waited—"
"Not when you've been avoiding me as much. I know you got my texts and calls," he said, holding on to her arm a little tighter.
"Let go..." she said quietly.
Immediately, he released her arm, not even realizing he had held on tighter in fear of her leaving again. "Answer the question," he demanded.
She looked up at him with an unreadable look in her eyes. "I did that because I didn't want you in my business and making decisions for me like you always do. You can be a control freak sometimes," she murmured the last part.
He scoffed, unable to believe she had just said that. "I'm a control freak?" he asked, looking at her as if she had lost her mind.
"You are, Syaoran. And when you don't have things go your way, you throw a tantrum or act like you've lost your mind. You just dragged me in here to get your way again—"
"My way? That's what you think this is about? What's my way, Sakura? Because it seems caring about you is me trying to get my way."
"I don't know!" she nearly yelled, making him flinch back at the tone he had not expected from her.
She rarely ever yelled and often times kept herself together, but something seemed off now. She had looked fine earlier in the room with everyone else there.
"You obviously dragged me here to make me tell you something I don't want to, which proves that you're trying to get me to do something—"
"Sakura, knowing your results has nothing to do with me trying to be a control freak. I just wanted to—"
"'I, I, I, I, me, me, me, me, me is all you've said this entire time you dragged me in here. I can't do anything without you trying to meddle your way into it and it's so frustrating. I feel like I can't breathe sometimes because every breath I take, I might say the wrong thing, or I might end up hurting you again or it might be something you don't like and—"
"Because I love you!" he said without thinking, feeling the overwhelming emotion take over, hearing her complain about how much effort he had been putting into her. "I love you so god-damn much that I don't want to lose you. I love you so much that I want to protect you and know that you're always safe. I don't mean to smother you and make you feel like you can't breathe with how I'm acting, but I can't help it, Sakura." He looked down, feeling ashamed of how strongly he felt about this woman.
"I want to give you what you want. Please, trust me when I say that because I wouldn't be going through all of this if I didn't care for what you want. You want a kid one eventually, so I'm trying to set that in motion for when the time comes. It's the same with everything else, just like if you truly want to go to Hong Kong, I will support you no matter how I feel about it. I have never intended not to support you if you had decided to go. You know I will be every step of the way behind you. I'm sorry for making you feel like I was trying to control you because I haven't been trying to. I want you to be happy with yourself, so that way, you will be happy with me. If going to Hong Kong will make you happy, go to Hong Kong. You taught me that and I believe that rule applies to you, just as much as you said the rule applies to me. I'm sorry for smothering you."
When he stopped talking, he looked at her, not even knowing that he had looked away while saying all of this. Even though he knew she would never feel the way he felt about her, he still felt that she had to know how he truly felt to understand why he tried to insert himself in her life so much.
Her mouth opened, but nothing came out, just as he expected her to do. The blush evident on her cheeks let him know the effect of his confession though.
He looked away again, feeling his cheeks warm at the silent rejection. "I'm sorry…I can't help how I feel sometimes. I wasn't trying to control your life by finding out the results though. I just wanted to know what we would have to do when that time comes," he said gently, moving closer to her so he could caress her face gently.
Her cheeks warmed under his palm. "I…will be fine when that time comes, okay? Are you going to get the reversal?" she asked softly, grabbing his hand on her face.
He frowned, realizing that told him absolutely nothing. Instead of confronting her, he decided not to press. "February 23," he promised. "I will get the reversal, but you have to promise to get an IUD until we are ready to have kids," he said.
She leaned into his hand, nodding her head. "At my time and with my money though..." she said quietly.
"Sakura, I'm not trying to control you, okay? It's so frustrating to hear that you would even think something like that because I'm worried about your health and the safety of it. I used my money last time because I suggested you get tested for any possible risks, which you've yet to tell me about. What came up that you're trying to hide from me?" he asked again gently, pushing her up against the wall to corner her. "Just tell me."
When her eyes cast downward, he knew it had to be bad news. "Sakura," he called sternly, making her look up at him immediately.
"I'm fine, okay? The only possible risks that could affect my birth would be that I have high blood pressure at times, but that's it," she said, sounding a little annoyed with him now for bringing it up again.
"What else is there? You're not telling me everything," he said, already knowing she was leaving things out.
"There is nothing else to tell you. I said that I'd be fine," she said.
He sighed and moved away from her for a moment, becoming beyond frustrated with the woman and her stubbornness. At times like this, he really wished he could control the situation. "Why have you been avoiding me then, huh?" he asked. "You wouldn't avoid me unless you had a reason to and it's painfully obvious that you do now."
"Because..." she started, making him turn to her. She looked so weak and vulnerable that it almost made him sick. He would rather see the uptight woman who acted like a stick was up her behind than this one.
"I told you I've been trying to make a decision for myself and—"
"I'm making it hard, even just by talking to me?" he interrupted. "What do you want, Sakura? Just say it."
"I want you to understand…—"
"Understand what, Sakura? That you'd rather go there than stay here?"
"No!" she said, surprising him with the volume of her tone again. "That I...only stayed in Tokyo for Eichii."
At the mention of that name, he looked down and glared at the floor. Nothing irritated him more than hearing about her ex over and over. He seemed to be everyone's favorite topic for the past few weeks. A part of him wished that he had not brought the man to the light. Something had told him that the man would be a never-ending topic once brought up. Now, here he stood, listening to the man being brought up constantly.
"Okay?" he encouraged to hear her point.
"I...have never truly put myself first and have always made decisions based on what other people want...and I made a promise to myself that I would try to put myself first after Eichii...and you...the moment I received the offer, I couldn't help but think of you. I almost said no on the spot because I knew how you would feel about it. I didn't want you to feel those things you did, so I didn't want to take it...but then I realized that I was doing exactly what I said I wouldn't do again. I was putting you before me and I..."
When she stopped, Syaoran looked up at her, seeing tears in her eyes. His heart was on the brink to shattering at that sight. Without any second thoughts, he moved over to her, grabbing her face gently so she could look at him.
With all his mental and physical strength, he forced a smile on his face to mask the pain of her going to that forbidden place. He had already promised that he would be behind her every step of the way. "I understand, okay? Just…don't cry. I'm fine with you going there. You should put yourself first for once, so I'm behind you all the way," he promised, caressing her face gently.
Staring in each other's eyes, Syaoran wondered who would actually be the one to drop the tears.
"Syaoran—"
He leaned down and captured her lips in a forceful kiss, wishing it would take all the pain away. He knew it never would though. Nothing could take this pain away; not even Sakura herself. When he felt her soft lips respond back just as aggressively, he deepened the kiss, knowing she needed this just as much as he did right now. He pushed her back against the wall beside the sink as soon as her slim fingers slid in his messy mane, pulling at his hair tightly. He ground his hips into hers roughly before pulling back from her lips to kiss down to her neck. His hand slid under the casual pink dress she had on, hooking his fingers around the side of her panties. He yanked them halfway down swiftly, feeling the urge increase the more his lips connected with her soft skin. He had to force his lips from her skin so he could move her in front of the restroom sink and mirror so they could see each other.
As if their minds tethered together, their eyes locked with one another as Sakura placed her hands on the sink and she leaned over, all the while hypnotized by his eyes. He moved behind her and leaned forward to kiss the back of her neck, letting his hand find its way back under her dress. Red stained her entire face as she bit back a moan and closed her eyes tightly.
"Open your eyes," he demanded huskily in her ear, toying with her bundle of nerves as his other hand moved to grab her chin gently. Her eyes slowly opened, locking with his as she let out an accidental moan, sending another surge of emotions to his arousal. "You don't want people to hear you getting pleasured in a public men's restroom by me, do you?" he rasped in her ear before taking the outline of it between his teeth.
Her breath hitched, making his fingers roll around the sensitive nub faster, causing her to let out a gasp and her fingers to clench around the edge of the sink tighter.
Nothing had ever been more erotic than watching Sakura watch herself being pleasured by him. Syaoran dropped to his knees behind her, throwing her dress up to her waist and spreading her cheeks before burying his face between them so he could lap at her dripping core. Sakura caught the moan that came out halfway as Syaoran lapped at her core like it would be the last meal he would ever have. His tongue never seized at its assaults on her, even when the volume of her voice rose, which only encouraged him to keep going.
A very small part of his brain told him that this was dangerous and risky, while the rest, along with his friend down south, told him that the thrill and danger only made him love the thought of them getting caught more.
A few more minutes passed before he came up, unbuckled his dark jeans, and pulled them down a little to free his aching arousal from its confinement. He positioned himself at her entrance, becoming one with her, unable to slow down at this point. His body pushed into hers quickly, not bothering to start slow like he usually would. His eyes trained on her face in the mirror, watching her parted lips pant his name quietly as he pounded into her relentlessly. His hand moved up to grab her covered breast with one hand while the other held her hip tightly so he could continue to find his release. The moment her body jerked and shuddered, milking him, signifying her climax, Syaoran sped up, hearing her tight hitch of breath, he could feel a sudden rush of his climax reach, sending him over the edge with her as he arched towards her back as he came.
He slumped against her back, panting softly against her before kissing her back gently over the dress. He pulled out of her slowly, a sudden feeling of guilt rushing through him like twin rivers merging together.
As if she sensed the guilt, their eyes locked through the mirror, her eyes equally as guilty as his. He had never fallen through with having sex with Sakura based off negative emotions he felt. Whenever they would have sex, it would always be because of intimacy and wanting to feel closer to each other. It was not like this time did not mean anything to him, but it was just out of pure lust and desire to have a release to forget about how he felt at that moment. He had never used her body like that before and nothing had ever made him feel more guiltier than that.
"I—"
He pulled her dress down and made her sit up from the position. "I'm sorry, Sakura," he apologized sincerely, still looking in her eyes guiltily through the mirror. "You're more than this—than a girl being fucked in a public restroom. I hope you know that was not my intentions to make you feel that way."
Sakura shook her head, turning to him now so he could look her directly in the eyes. "Of course I know that. This isn't your fault. I let it happen, so I'm to blame as well..." she said guiltily.
He frowned, leaning down to kiss her forehead. "You aren't to blame for any of this. I initiated that and it was wrong. It was so wrong, and I know better than that because I'm better than that. I thought I was, at least..." the last part came out sadly. He could not believe he had just done something like this to her.
"You are, Syaoran. You realize it was wrong and you're apologetic because of it, which you didn't used to be. I'm to blame this time because I wanted it too," she said, looking up at him seriously.
He swallowed the lump of guilt that was preventing him from responding to that, only able to nod his head. She had just told him that he was selfish and only thought about him, but now she was telling him that he was not said person he just implied he is because of his behavior just now. She confused him sometimes, but he knew when something is wrong with her, her moods would switch in a heartbeat. He just did not know what it was.
"Let's go on our 'first date' Tuesday during the time you'd normally come in for a session."
His mood perked at that statement a little. "Really? Will we really?" he asked, ignoring the nagging voice poke fun at the desperation in his tone.
"Of course, if you can. We can watch a movie...get dinner...no session. Let's just keep the day simple and peaceful," she said.
His heart almost did a few back-flips. "Of course I can. I will leave my pager at the hospital to make sure of it," he said.
She giggled, shaking her head. "You don't have to do all—"
A bang on the door stopped her from continuing, making them both jump at the impact.
"Come out, man! There's others who have to use it!" someone yelled behind the door.
"Shit." He pulled up his jeans quickly, buckling up his pants. Sakura did the same by pulling up her panties and smoothing out her dress.
Syaoran unlocked the door, looking as normal as possible before grabbing Sakura's hand, pulling her out with him as he avoided eye contact with the person.
"You guys are kidding me, right?" a familiar voice came from said person, making Syaoran look in the direction.
"A-Aki!" Sakura exclaimed, sounding surprised to see the man.
"Why the hell do you always squeeze your way into everything," Syaoran said, glaring at the man a little.
"I...am so sorry! I'm so ashamed of myself," Sakura said the last part under her breath, flustered, and covering her face in embarrassment.
"Please, for the love of Christ, fix your hair if you don't want people knowing what you two just had going on in a men's public restroom. Are you two crazy? You could be charged for something like this. Sakura, you know better than doing something like this," Akinari chastised, making Syaoran frown at that.
Syaoran could not tell if Akinari was trying to imply that he did not have sense enough to know this is wrong. It made him angry, nonetheless though. "Excuse me? Are you jealous?" Syaoran asked bluntly, staring at the man hard. He could not believe Akinari had just disrespected him in front of his face like that.
"What?"
"Syaoran, please, not right now. He's right," Sakura said, grabbing Syaoran's arm slightly to grab his attention.
"I just want to know. Have you been outside the door this entire time, listening to us?" he asked.
"Oh, come on, man, I don't need this right now. I really have to use it, so could you let me in?" Akinari said, sounding a little annoyed.
"You're being unreasonable," Sakura hissed at Syaoran, pulling him to the side so Akinari could walk inside the restroom.
Before Akinari closed the door, he looked at Sakura with a serious look in his eyes. "You really need to figure out what you are going to do," he said before she cast her eyes downward.
"We'll talk later," she said quietly before Akinari nodded and closed the door.
Syaoran looked at her, feeling a little jealous that they were possibly planning to meet later that day to talk about something he had no clue about.
"What was that about? What do you need to figure out?" he found himself unable to stop from asking.
He wanted to be in on their secret too.
She shook her head. "It's nothing to discuss here. We should head back inside before Tomoyo starts to worry about my whereabouts," Sakura said, already walking towards their party room before he could even respond.
A frown played at his lips, realizing Sakura was still keeping secrets from him, despite him expressing how he felt about her.
He hoped she would be ready to talk on Tuesday at their date because he would stop at nothing to get the information out of her.
He followed after her, letting it go for today so they could enjoy the rest of the party before he would have to go back to work.
A/N: I'm sucking so bad at updating because I think I already uploaded the chapter but haven't because I've had this chapter done for almost three weeks now .. So sorry! Thank you guys so much for the love and support you still give me though! I should have responded to all of the reviews last chapter already :).
I'm not going to lie and some of you might hate me a bit for saying this, while some relieved, buuuut, this story does not have long before it ends. I won't give a specific chapter number, but it is coming. I have a bittersweet feeling about it, but we won't focus too much on that since it's not completed yet. Like I said before, the story was originally only supposed to be around 25 chapters long, but look where we were now lol. I'm so sorry for that because I know some people hate reading stories that are too long! Thanks so much for those who stuck around!
Aside from that, what did you guys think of this chapter? Is Sakura really hiding something from Syaoran or is he just being the paranoid man he normally is? How will their first official date in public go? Why did Aki seem so grouchy? He better be careful messing with Syaoran like that when he knows his real name! :P. Oh! Syaoran confessed too in the moment! Not how I originally planned for him to do it in a men's public restroom, but it felt like the right time to for some reason as I wrote the chapter lol. What do you guys think? :P.
FYI, for those who read Everything Forbidden in the Law, I will be trying to fix the story for that one! Sorry for the inconvenience!
