"Farewell, My Love"

Perfect.

Everything was going perfect.

Not that Sakura had to tell herself that every couple of seconds. Tomoyo had decided to throw a classic Bon voyage party with a Hong Kong theme at her house since they lived in a relatively large home. She had just decided to combine her birthday and going away party together. She and all of her friends from grade school had apparently set everything up behind Sakura's back and surprised her when she arrived.

Everything had been set up so nice with the red and yellow paper lanterns hanging from the ceilings. She had red, yellow, and blue streamer papers hanging decoratively high on the walls around the room. They were to represent the dragon dance that usually happened at festivals. The table cloths on the table was red with the Hong Kong flag symbol in the middle. There was a cooler that her best friend had filled with airplane bottles of alcohol, along with some Chinese food they had ordered. Sakura had had enough to drink, so she even had a nice, buzzed feeling.

When Sakura had arrived at the time Tomoyo told her to show up, the girls had helped her get ready and made-her up really pretty, so she felt like the star of the show. Everything was perfect.

So she wondered why she didn't feel like the star.

Sakura scanned the room for the one hundredth time since she had been there. He was still missing though. The very person who Tomoyo said had given her the idea and helped with setting things up to make the Hong Kong theme was not even here. She wondered if he had told a story when he said that he would take off at the hospital to be here with her.

Things were not making much sense. Syaoran never lied. It would not make sense why he would this time. He had been honest about Valentine's Day and him needing to work, so they would have to do something small that night he had gotten off work. And they did. They ended up taking a nice, hot bath with rose petals in the water and a bath bomb.

He had been honest about him pushing his reversal date up until she would be leaving since they would not be able to have sex until he completely healed. He had reasoned that it would be time where they could be getting their fill of each other since they would not be able to much anymore when she leaves. And reluctantly, she agreed, but still felt that he was using it as an excuse to push back the date of getting the surgery. It was not like they would start having kids right away. Quite the opposite, actually. She wanted them to be married first before they decided to start, but she had also done her own research to understand that the longer he waited to get the reversal, the less likely the success rate would be higher.

But, he had been honest with her, is where her thoughts were going with that.

He had said that he would be here as soon as the party started and that was two hours ago. All of her friends were here and everyone was having a merry time. So where was he?

"Hey, everything good?"

Sakura was snapped out her thoughts at the voice she heard over the music playing in the living room. She looked at her best friend standing in front of her.

"Sakura?"

"Everything's great, Aki. I'm just…a little out of it," she said honestly, offering him a slight smile.

"Tipsy?" he asked, smirking at her before handing a glass of wine to her.

She shook her head and accepted it, though it was a lie. She had been accepting any drink her friends would offer her in hopes of clearing her mind about her absent boyfriend. Clearly, it was not working. "No, I told you that I wouldn't be drinking much tonight," she finally responded.

"Drink. You're worrying, I can tell," Akinari said, nodding towards the drink to motion her to drink it.

"I am? You can?" she asked worriedly before taking a large gulp of the alcohol. She did not need people to start noticing her weird behavior.

Akinari chuckled and rest a hand on her shoulder and then motioned to the balcony with his head.

Sakura looked around at all the people there. It could not be any more than 20 people there, so maybe they would not notice her absence. They were all her friends from school, so they all knew each other too. Some of them were even rekindling with the other since it had been a minute since they all came together.

Sakura had kept up with all of them over the years, considering she had been one of the most popular girls in school. Everyone who came across Sakura always got along great with her. Her personality was just too loving. Plus, she had been the captain for the cheerleader squad throughout their entire high school. Everyone knew her. So it felt nice to be with all her friends from high school again.

Except one that was missing…

Sakura could feel her heart clench in her chest at the reminder of her deceased friend. She had been the sole reason Sakura went into this field of study. She wondered how life would have been like if Maya had never overdosed. Would they have still been friends now? Would she still have taken the opioids?

Sakura thought about the one time she had tried it after Maya convinced her to. Sakura was never one to be pressured into things she did not want, but this had been a little different. She wanted to understand her friend on another level. Her friend had been in so much pain living in an abusive home with a father who did things to her that he had no business doing.

Knowing what she knew now, Sakura wish she had said something instead of just watching her friend struggle. Sakura valued Maya's life way more than she valued their friendship; yet she had not shown that when she decided that she would keep Maya's secret about doing heroin and her father molesting her.

"Sakura?" A voice called her out of her thoughts.

"Yeah," she answered numbly as she realized she needed to get away from everyone in the house. She hoped Tomoyo would not mind her stepping out for a bit.

She drank the rest of her alcohol in one go before grabbing a beer by the table they were near.

They headed to the balcony, Sakura praying that no one would stop them to talk. She just needed some fresh air to clear her mind of Syaoran and the memories from the yesteryears with Maya.

She wondered what Maya would think of her and if she would be proud of her. Sakura had come this far because of her.

"Is it Li?" Akinari asked, closing the balcony door from all the noise in the house.

Sakura leaned against the railings, staring at the night sky. There were not many stars out tonight, but it was a full moon. "He told me that he would be here on time and I haven't heard anything from him. That's not like Syaoran at all," she said quietly, deciding to leave her thoughts of her friend out of the conversation. That had been her own secret that she refused to tell anyone about. That was a guilt she could live with on her own because she knew she should have told someone about Maya at the time.

"He probably just got held up at the hospital. He's the chief, all sorts of things could've come up," Akinari explained, moving closer to her.

She smiled, feeling her heart tighten with angst at how caring this man was towards her. She looked at him, feeling her insides warm. She would miss him so much. "You know…sometimes I wonder how things would have turned out between us if we had just gotten together some years ago," she said.

"Are you saying you regret choosing Li as your person?" he asked in a teasing tone.

She pushed against his shoulder with a smile on her face. "I'm not saying that. It's just…you've always cared about me so much," she said sheepishly.

"Of course I care about you. You're my cherry blossom," he flirted, throwing an arm around her shoulder and pulling her in his arm, holding her.

Sakura relaxed in his arms, letting him hold her. She definitely needed this right now after thinking of Maya. Maya usually lied deep into her subconscious all the time. She never really left Sakura's head.

"Li would probably lose his mind if he were to see us right now," Akinari said, chuckling as he rest his chin on top of her head. He was a few feet taller than her, so she rest perfectly under his chin.

"I can't get hugs from my best friend anymore because I'm taken now?" she asked, though she knew he had a point. Syaoran would never tolerate this.

"You know this is a lot different from getting a hug," he whispered quietly, causing chills to glide down her body.

Sakura knew there was some mutual feelings amongst them but was able to recognize it for what it was, like Akinari did.

They just were not…right together. They had the chemistry, but there was something that lacked between them. Perhaps it had been that the timing was always never right. The first time they tried to date, it had been some time after Eichii "passed away". Clearly, it had not been enough time.

And just when Sakura was ready to date again after so many years, she found Syaoran. He loved her and she loved him. Akinari had found someone too apparently, so there was nothing they could do.

But that was okay because they both understood that there was some mutual feelings there for each other but that's all there was to it. They would always have a special place in their heart for the other, but that was as far as it would get.

"So sue me for wanting to be held by my best friend who's been here with me through the most difficult times of my life and actually stuck around," she scowled softly.

He chuckled and leaned down to kiss the top of her head. "I'm sure that everything's fine and Li will be here soon," Akinari assured her. "I do want to ask you not to mention this to him though. He's gonna have my ass handed to me if he were to find out," he said the last part under his breath.

Sakura giggled before pulling back from him slightly to look up at him.

They stared in each other's eyes in silence for a moment, making her heart clench in anticipation. There was some message conveyed between them as they stared each other in the eyes.

'I love you.'

'I'm so happy for you right now.

'Nothing could make me happier than knowing that you're happy.'

It was so endearing that Sakura could feel her eyes watering as her body swarmed with emotions.

Sakura stared him in the eyes, letting them tell him how much she loved him too.

To her surprise, he leaned down to brush his lips against the side of her mouth, just missing her lips barely. "You picked the right man this time," he whispered against her skin gently before pulling back to look her in the eyes. "Happy birthday, cherry blossom."

She smiled, already knowing that. Hearing him reassure her decision still felt good, nonetheless. She nodded. "Thanks."

"Ahem."

Sakura jumped, hearing someone clear their throat behind them. She turned around and saw the last person she was expecting to come out here. "Syaoran-kun," she called, rushing over to him so she could hug him tightly.

He wrapped his arms around her briefly before pulling back slightly so he could look in her face. He moved a hand up to grip her chin gently to tilt her head upwards so she could look him in the eyes. "What was that about?" he asked softly, his amber eyes glancing at Akinari with a glare.

She shook her head. "Noth—"

Syaoran captured her mouth in a brief kiss. He pulled back and released her so he could glare at Akinari, though there was no ill-intent behind it.

Sakura could feel her cheeks warm at the display of affection in front of her best friend. Syaoran always did things like this to make a point.

She heard Akinari chuckle behind them, making her cheeks warm at the thoughts she knew her best friend had right now.

"I'm glad you could make it, Li-san," Akinari said.

Sakura paused at hearing the genuineness in his tone. There was no sarcasm, no malice or animosity that normally seemed present between the two. The statement sounded like there was some mutual agreement between the two that she had somehow missed out on.

Sakura saw a smirk form on Syaoran's face slightly. "Keep your hands off my woman," he said in a dark tone, though she could hear the playfulness underneath it.

"I'm leaving her in your hands then," Akinari said.

Sakura turned to him, only to see a smile on his face. "You guys have a little more time out here before everyone starts to notice the star of the show is missing," he said, nodding his head towards them before he walked back inside, closing the door behind him.

As soon as it clicked shut, the atmosphere changed between them. For some reason, the air suddenly felt thick and like she could barely breathe.

"I'm sorry I'm late," he said, moving closer towards her again so he could wrap his arms around her. "Happy birthday, kitten."

She relaxed in his arms immediately with a frown on her face. "Thanks, but what happened? You had me worried…" she said the last part sheepishly.

He leaned down and brushed his lips against hers gently before pulling back. "Something came up at the hospital, but it was just a small accident that needed my hand in it. I'm sorry I didn't let you know, I just got so caught up," he said against her lips, caressing her cheek.

She leaned into his touch unconsciously and gave him a reassuring smile. "I'm glad you could make it," she said sincerely.

"Of course I wouldn't miss this," he said, kissing her forehead.

She smiled. "What's going on between you and Aki? That was kind of weird."

"Just men stuff," he answered nonchalantly. "What was going on between you two before I interrupted? I didn't like that at all."

Sakura felt no need to hide what they had done so she relaxed even more. "Aki approves of our relationship. It may not mean anything to you, but it means everything to me to have his support. He's been here with me through…so much that he matters to me now," she explained.

They were quiet for a moment before she decided to look up at him to see his reaction. His expression was almost unreadable, considering he did not look happy nor upset by her statement.

"You're right, I don't care for his support and he doesn't matter to me," Syaoran finally said, his grip tightening around her body a little. "But you matter to me and this seems to make you happy, so I'm on your team."

Sakura could feel her cheeks warm as she felt his hand slide a little lower to the small of her back. They stared in each other's eyes for a little longer before Syaoran leaned down to close the gap between their lips again in a searing, passionate kiss. It nearly made her melt in his arms as his tongue made love to the inside of her mouth like other parts of him would do to her body.

Sakura could feel the chills glide down her body as his hand slid lower to the curve of her ass. He grabbed the plump flesh in his hand roughly, making a moan of protest slip past her mouth into his as their tongues wrestled.

Syaoran began to maneuver their bodies towards the railing of the balcony so he could press fully into her, but a tap on the window had her pull apart from him immediately. She could have sworn she heard him growl, but it could have just been her imagination since she was panting to catch her breath after that kiss.

"W-we should probably head inside. I'm sure that was Aki's way of saying that they're starting to notice me missing," she explained shyly, attempting to make her way over to the door of the balcony.

Before she could get too far, Syaoran had grabbed her wrist and pulled her back towards him, flush. He leaned down and captured her ear between his teeth teasingly. "What if I'd rather have you out here on this balcony howling my name while I fuck you so good while you watch the full moon, Sakura," he whispered in her ear suggestively.

Sakura almost went weak in the knees as she felt a flood of arousal rush between her legs. "Syaoran," she whined in protest weakly, though she leaned into him for support slightly.

He knew all her weaknesses and used them against her at any given opportunity. Like, he knew how she felt about him calling her name like that. He had to be the devil himself.

"Whining like that doesn't sound convincing enough," he teased, letting his hand slide under her mid-thigh dress so he could grab her bare ass over the lacy panties she wore. He let his tongue tease the top of her ear for a moment before he pulled back with a chuckle.

She released a weak protest before pushing against him lightly. "You're so mean," she pouted, her cheeks not cooling down even a little bit. He had her body on fire.

"We can pick up where we stopped when we get back to my place tonight," he promised, leaning down to peck her lips gently. "Don't think that I don't have something planned for the birthday girl when we get away from everyone."

She pouted and attempted to kiss back but he pulled away from her before she could.

"You're right, we should head back in before it's too late," he explained, removing his hand from under her dress and adjusting her clothes for her.

Sakura felt a little frustrated but agreed nonetheless because she knew he was right. She just did not like how he could toy with her emotions like that and make her want to attack him.

She caught a glimpse of his smirk before letting her eyes roam down his body to see his reaction to all of this.

He situated himself to hide his reaction to their activities. "Give me a couple of more seconds," he said, scratching the back of his head sheepishly with a chuckle.

She smiled and shook her head.

"Alright, let's go," he said after a minute, leading her back inside, which she followed behind him quietly.

As soon as the door opened, Tomoyo was at Sakura's side, pulling her inside the house. "There you are! Sorry Li-san, I know you just got here, but I need to borrow her because we are going to take pictures," Tomoyo said, pulling her away from him.

Sakura smiled at her best friend before giving an apologetic look to Syaoran.

Tomoyo dragged her to another part of the room where she had set up a photo booth in the corner with her other friends.

From there, she took Polaroids with everyone, including separate pictures and then a group picture. Tomoyo even pulled Syaoran over to take a few with Sakura before she announced that she would be putting all the photos in a photo album book for Sakura to take with her when she moved. Of course, she had been vocal about her wishing to keep the pictures for herself because of how "cute" Sakura had looked in them.

After all these years, Tomoyo still had an odd obsession with Sakura, though it was a lot tamer now.

Afterwards, Sakura was able to escape from Tomoyo's grasp and sit down on the couch. The alcohol was finally catching up to her because she was starting to feel lightheaded and like she just wanted to be behind closed doors with Syaoran.

Thinking of Syaoran, she wondered where he was right now. He was supposed to be by her side. He had already shown up late. She missed him.

Sakura paused at that thought.

It had to be the alcohol talking, she assumed.

"Excuse me everyone."

Sakura's head snapped in the direction of the voice immediately. Her eyes locked with Syaoran's as he stood in front of the fireplace, grabbing everyone's attention. Of course, everyone recognized who he was, considering that some of them had gone to school with him at one point, though not very long. Syaoran had only been in Tomoeda for a couple of years before he transferred from the way she had heard him talking to some of the guys. She still wondered how she had missed him going to school there.

Sakura stared at the man before her and just admired how good he looked in his nice, collared button-down and dark jeans that fit perfectly against his form.

She could just picture him bare naked and on top of her, pounding into her like she was everything he would ever need. She remembered when she would sometimes grab his firm ass to pull him closer and deeper into her and his mouth would find hers to dominate her mouth like it would be their last time kissing.

She could feel her insides stir and could not help but think about how good he would take her when they got home tonight. He really had her mind in the gutter standing up there looking so good.

"I would like us to make a toast to one of the most selfless people I'm sure we all know. Sakura is…going to do great things, so…" Syaoran looked her directly in the eyes and suddenly, she felt like they were the only ones in the room. "To Sakura's new journey?"

"To Sakura's new journey!" Sakura heard everyone in the room cheer as they all took a sip from their drinks after hitting their glasses together.

Her eyes would not leave Syaoran's though. She had enjoyed everyone because they had made her feel so special tonight, but she wanted to be alone with Syaoran now. It had to be the alcohol telling her that.

She smiled at him, and then everyone else before standing from the couch. She hated this much attention being placed on her but today was different. She had not been opposed to this.

"Thank you everyone for coming out and supporting me…I feel so special and honored to have all of you in my life. I am where I am today because of you guys, so…thank you," she whispered the last part shyly, feeling her cheeks warm even more at all the attention placed on her.

She may have been through a lot over the years, but there was not any other group that she would have rather spent her time and known more than she did this group.

She was sure that she would never forget anyone here or the one person missing.

She would always carry them in her heart no matter how long she would be staying away. She heard everyone giving her an applause and cheers from her friends.

Her eyes landed on Syaoran who had a small smile on his face while looking at her with so much love in his eyes.

She definitely would never forget them.

Syaoran's thumb caressed her cheek as she laid underneath him and rested peacefully.

She had fallen asleep hours ago and he had just been sitting up with his head resting on the palm of his hand watching her sleep.

They would have to be up in a six hours to take her to the airport and she would be leaving. They had decided to stay in her apartment last night since she would be leaving from here and all her things were here.

Syaoran could barely believe that tonight would be the last night they would be spending together. He had already kept her up all night making love to her, yet he still felt…empty, lost, and…something else.

Sex had always been his medicine. It always made him feel better. That had been the reason he turned to it in the past.

Now…no amount of times they had sex made things better. There was nothing that could fix this longing to have Sakura here with him anymore.

Sakura sucked in a breath before her face scrunched up.

Syaoran pulled his hand back quickly, but it was already too late because her eyes were slowly opening, revealing the emerald gems that always had him mesmerized.

"Syaoran," she called, turning to him.

"I'm sorry," he apologized, feeling guilty for waking her. He knew she had to be up in a few hours to catch her flight.

She shook her head slowly. "It won't be that much long before we see each other again," she said as if she had read his mind.

"I know," he commented quietly and caressed her face again with a masked face to hide his emotions.

"You don't have to pretend to be okay," Sakura said, sitting up on the bed so she could look him directly in the face now. "I hate that we will be so far away from each other too…I hate it so much that I've rethought about my decision a thousand times."

"You're going to Hong Kong and you're going to do great things with your research," he assured confidently. "You're right, it won't be that long before I come there to visit. I'm just…I love you."

"I know. I love you too," Sakura said.

Syaoran felt his insides warm at the confession and he leaned down to close the gap between their lips in a gentle kiss.

She returned the kiss and wrapped her arm around his neck, pulling him closer to her. He let his tongue slip past her parted lips and lazily engaged in a battle that neither of them tried to win. They just simply enjoyed the other's mouth with no intent to take things further.

Even when Syaoran let his hand move up to toy with her nipple, there seemed to be a silent agreement that they would not have sex again that night. They had done it more than enough tonight to know that having sex would not make things better. If anything, it made things worse because it was just a reminder that it would be the last time they would be able to do this until they saw each other again.

They broke the kiss and laid back down. Sakura laid her head on his chest and he wrapped his arm around her body, pulling her closer to him. He stroked her hair, letting his fingers seep into her auburn hair to massage her scalp.

"Tell me something that you've never told anyone before," Syaoran said suddenly when the silence never ended.

"Like what?" Sakura asked, letting her fingers toy with the light hairs on his chest.

"Just anything. What's a dirty little secret that you vowed to tell no one about?" he asked teasingly.

Sakura giggled, shaking her head against his chest. "It won't really be considered a secret anymore if I tell you," she said.

He squeezed her gently. "It could be our dirty little secret," he retorted.

"We already have our dirty little secret," she said, looking up at him so she could rest her chin on his chest to look at him.

He kissed her nose. "I'm not a dirty little secret."

"Anymore, but technically…you are since no one knows that I was sleeping with a client," she teased.

He chuckled and licked the tip of her nose uncharacteristically to punish her.

Her nose scrunched up and she moved back from him. "Gross," she said, wiping her nose.

"You're the one sleeping with clients," he teased.

She gave him a pointed look. "I would have never slept with a client before you showed up," she said matter of factly.

"Mhm," he said sarcastically.

Sakura rolled her eyes and then bit his nipple a little hard, making him yelp. "Ouch," he said.

"Don't test me," she said testily.

He chuckled and rubbed his nipple to soothe it a little. "So, a secret," he reminded.

Sakura sighed and looked deep in thought for a moment before she focused on him. "I tried heroin once."

Syaoran forced her to look in his face with a bewildered look on his face. "What?"

"Don't question my decisions as a kid," she said, attempting to lay her head back down on his chest, but Syaoran grabbed her hair gently, stopping her from doing so fully.

"You can't just tell me that and not give me more than that. How did that happen? You aren't still, are you?"

"Of course not! I was in high school and it was…with a friend," she said the last part quietly.

Syaoran noticed the shift in mood when she mentioned her friend. He held her a little bit tighter. "You want to talk about it?" he asked gently.

She shook her head. "You tell me a secret now though," she reversed.

"I've already told you my secrets."

"So, I know everything there is to know about you?" she asked.

"I don't know about everything, but you know a good majority about me," he said.

"Have you heard anything from your family?" she asked, changing the subject abruptly.

"Wei will pick you up from the airport," he answered her unasked question.

She nodded against his chest. "You really didn't have to do that for the one hundredth time."

"I know, but I did. He's going to show you around Hong Kong a little bit too. I don't want you being by yourself when you go out. Ever," he said the last part sternly.

He heard her sweet laughter before she looked up at him with a mischievous look in her eyes. "Are you afraid that I might meet some other Chinese guy, so Wei-san will be your watchman?" she asked teasingly.

Despite him knowing that she was only joking around, he could still feel the prickling feeling of jealousy surge throughout his body at the thought of Sakura meeting some other guy who could swoop her off her feet. They had already started on a rough patch, so it was very likely that another guy could because he had not in the beginning.

He tightened his grip in her hair a little but not enough to hurt her. "You know how I am about jokes like that," he said calmly, though he wanted to be so much more than calm.

She giggled, probably aware that she was getting him riled up. It almost seemed like she was doing it on purpose. "And what's that like?" she asked, staring him directly in the eyes as if she were daring him to say it.

"Keep talking about being with other men and you'll see," he half-joked. He would never hurt her, but he certainly would hurt the guy who tried to slide in.

"The only man…" Sakura kissed his chest in the middle. "…that I want to be with…" She began to kiss down his body slowly, moving her body down with each kiss.

Syaoran watched her like a hawk, not letting his eyes leave the way her lips caressed his skin. He had not planned for them to go another round because of two things. One, he needed to give his dick a rest. And two, not let sex be the solution to fixing things.

The way her eyes never left his as she kissed down his chiseled chest, set something off in his head.

"Say it," he demanded, knowing that she got off on him being dominating sometimes, just as much as he did. It was just something different about knowing that…such a strong, independent woman would let him in this way; let him see her vulnerability. He had never experienced being so openly vulnerable with a person who trusted him enough to be the same.

"The only man that I want to be with is you," she said, getting under the covers with the issue underneath it.

Sakura looked him in the eyes while under the blankets and waited.

"Prove it," he said, letting his hand guide her head lower gently.

As soon as her lips came in contact with his hot flesh, he closed his eyes and leaned his head back, forgetting about their conversation.

Only two earth-shattering orgasms for Syaoran and four for Sakura later, they had decided to call it a night since Sakura would have to be back up in a few hours.

She had been so exhausted that she had fallen asleep as soon as Syaoran pulled out of her and she cuddled close to him.

Instead of following suit, Syaoran ended up staying awake to watch her for the remainder of the night before he realized that the sun was rising.

All he could do was mesmerize everything about her from the soft breaths that left her mouth as she slept with her mouth slightly opened when laying on her back to the light hairs on her face.

He was not sure if he would be able to work today after dropping her off at the airport because he was beyond exhausted too. He just could not go to sleep because he feared that she might be gone when he wake up.

When the birds began to chirp outside, Syaoran glanced at the clock and realized it was time for her to wake up.

Syaoran watched Sakura as she interacted with her friends at the airport that morning. Tomoyo, Eriol, and Akinari had decided to send her off with Syaoran. Her flight would be leaving in an hour, but she had to go through the check-in line.

"I'm going to video chat you every single day and come to visit," Syaoran heard Tomoyo say to Sakura as tears welled in her eyes.

Syaoran could see the tears in Sakura's eyes as well, making him look away when the two embraced each other tightly. He always thought it was weird to intrude on moments like that between two people.

When it was Akinari's turn to bid her goodbye, Syaoran was sure to keep a close eye on the man's hands on Sakura just in case he tried anything funny.

Eriol was respectful, of course, so Syaoran had nothing to worry about with him. But when it came to him, he found it hard to show any of the emotions that he was internally experiencing right now. He would keep it all together though.

"I'll let Wei know that you're leaving," he said, letting his hand caress her cheek as he forgot about the people around them.

"I really appreciate this," she said, grabbing his hand on her face and leaning into his touch.

"My sisters will take you on a tour of the city once you get settled in too," Syaoran said.

She nodded. "I'll text as soon as I get off the plane," she promised.

Syaoran leaned down to kiss her lips briefly. "You better," he murmured against her lips.

She smiled against his lips and then nodded her head. "Trust me," she playfully demanded.

"Always," he said.

Someone cleared their throat, bringing them back to reality. Syaoran remembered they were in the airport with hundreds of people walking around and possibly watching them. He kissed her nose and then released her.

The intercom announced the next flight being Hong Kong.

"I guess that's my cue," Sakura said to them. She picked her bag up and waved goodbye to them before she headed to the escalator.

Her eyes locked with Syaoran's for a moment before she gave him a reassuring smile. It was reassuring enough to make him feel like they would be okay.

Her eyes told him that they would be alright, so he would believe her. After all, they had never been wrong about anything they said. So why would things be any different this time?
