Louisiana, September 13th, 12:10 P.M.
Sitting across Harley from the other side of the glass Hunter leaned his head on his hands. They were playing charades and Harley's answered were either Joker, Arkham, Gotham, Bud, and Lou, or this one.
"Mad Love." Hunter answered.
"Oh, you are good! Don't even need a Lasso of Truth." Harley said amazed.
"Mine's called the Lasso of Enticement remember." The prince replied sighing as he began to raise three fingers.
"Three words." Harley said before she whistled, "Blonde cutie alert!"
"What, no." Hunter said referring to the game.
"No, behind you blonde hunk with the blue eyes." She nodded her head gesturing to someone behind Hunter.
Looking over his shoulder he saw Icicle Jr. with some blonde teen, "Tommy Terror I presume." He sighed before looking over at freeze who sat with Icicle Sr., Captain Cold, and Minister Blizzard. The ice villain met his eyes with an icy glare before turning easy. Hunter sighed before turning to Harley.
"What's wrong, Wonder Welp?" She asked concerned.
Hunter argued with himself whether or not he should tell her, "I did something bad."
"I thought that was a given." The clown laughed.
"No, I mean something that went against my beliefs." He sighed burying his face in his hands, "Even though I did it for the right reasons it feels so wrong. As an Amazon, I was raised to value love above all else to protect and treasure it. But I manipulated it and used it for personal gain."
"The Bat put you up to it huh?" Harley immediately assumed.
Hunter immediately shot his eyes up to her, "I don't know what-"
"It's to be expected from a mind like his." Harley said getting a curious look from Hunter, "Oh yeah Batman has a serious case of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Dissociative Identity Disorder with anger issues along with a touch of narcissism."
"And how did you come to this conclusion?" Hunter asked.
"Well. . .oh a brawl!" She suddenly said excitedly.
Over his shoulder, he saw Ojo pinning Jr. to the floor before Tommy pulled him off and punching him to the floor. Brick and his goons approached the two younger villains as he cracked his knuckles. Hunter looked up at the guards in their watchtower only to find them watching. Rolling his eyes he stood up and approached the commotion.
"Oi kiddy what you doing?" Harley exclaimed.
Watching Brick getting Tommy into an armlock from behind, "Evening the odds." That was all he said before he broke into a run, "Brick!" The larger man turned around to find a knee colliding with his face. The villain let go of the younger man as the three of them fell to the floor. Hunter rolled onto his feet and dashed at Ojo.
Ojo looked at Tommy and pointed at him, "I know him he's-" He was about to say before Hunter flipped forward and slammed his brackets down against his helmet with a loud clang.
Looking down at the man Hunter stepped over him. Ojo groaned as he began to get up but Hunter slammed his foot against his neck, "Stay down unless you want me to crush your larynx." He threatened.
"Not wise at all."
Hunter looked over his shoulder to see Brick rushing him. Before he could tackle the young hero Tommy hopped on his back and covered his eyes. Hunter took the opportunity to run at Brick and deliver a dropkick to the larger man's abdomen. Brick coughed as he stumbled back before Tommy flipped over him and threw him into three goons.
"Not wise, not wise at all." Hunter said approaching Brick before raising his leg straight to the air before arching it down slamming it down on Brick's temple knocking him out.
"Enough!" Icicle Sr. finally ordered, "Kid's got guts. The kind of guts a man wouldn't mind seeing in his own kid." He said looking at Tommy.
"Nice to see you too dad." Icicle Jr. groaned returning to Tommy's side.
"Get over here!" He ordered.
The two teens began walking towards Sr. and his gang before he said, "Not you Terror!"
The blonde stopped in his tracks as Jr. approached his father. Hunter looked at Freeze before he began to walk away. Walking past Tommy their eyes briefly met he had intense blue eyes they reminded him of Conner. Feeling Tommy's gaze on his back he glanced over his shoulder to see the blonde quickly look away.
Hunter smiled to himself. It was much like when he and Conner would glance at each other. Whenever either of them would get caught they would quickly look at the other. He especially loved it when Conner would scratch the back of his neck in embarrassment.
Glancing back at Tommy once more he saw him scratch at the back of his neck as Conner does. He paused and turned to face Terror fully. The blonde glanced at him and their eyes met once again but this time they locked onto each other. He's seen those eyes, he knows those eyes.
"No way." He gasped.
Tommy looked away from him and towards the glass. Hunter followed his gaze and saw Tuppence Terror who gave him a nervous smile. He blinked in shock, "M'gann?"
"Hi, Hunter." She said telepathically, "It's good to see you."
Hunter made sure not to keep the shock inside.
"Hi, M'gann. What are you guys doing here?" He asked.
Hunter sat down across Harley, "Rock paper scissors?" He suggested and Harley shrugged.
"Mission." Conner answered, "Batman wanted us to see if the ice villains were planning."
"Shoot!" He and Harley exclaimed revealing their hands. Harley won with scissors.
"Strange, he's tasked me with the same mission as well." He replied with a frown, "He didn't say anything about you guys."
"He never said anything about your involvement." The martian said.
"Not much involvement, I don't even know what they're planning yet." Hunter admitted.
"Shoot!" Hunter lost with paper.
"I heard Icicle Sr. say that they're going to break everyone out." Conner said.
"I miss my super hearing." Hunter said sighing, "I got the whole Suicide Squad investigating them and I even got a man in the inside."
"Who?" McCann asked curiously.
Hunter hesitated before he chose rock.
"Mister Freeze." He answered, "I convinced him with unsavory means. I don't want to talk about it, Meg." He quickly added.
"That's good that means we have the jump on them." Conner said before he asked, "Are you alright?"
Hunter allowed a small smile on his face, "Shoot!"
"Better than you think. I've made some friends here actually like Harley, Croc, and Chato." He replied.
"Chato?" McCann asked.
"El Diablo." The Amazon clarified, "He's a really good Uno player."
"You've made friends with these criminals?" M'gann asked skeptically.
"They're victims of circumstance, life dealt them bad hands." Hunter replied, "I'll explain later when we stop Icicle's plan."
"Wanna go another round?" Harley asked, "I wanna keep up my winning streak."
"Hey, sidekick!" Looking up he saw Wilcox looking down at him, "Therapy session with Professor Strange."
"Maybe later." He gave Harley a small smile before getting up and walking away.
"It was nice seeing you guys."
Sitting across from Professor Strange Hunter kept his gaze outside the window. The man gave Hunter the creeps and the worse way. He reminded him of Batman in the sense that he knows much more than he lets on. He's hiding something.
"Did you feel out of place on the island?" Hugo asked.
Hunter sparred him a glance before returning his gaze to the window, "I was the only boy on an island full of women you do the math."
Hugo wrote down on his clipboard before asking, "So you're saying that if you were around a strong male presence growing up you would've had a better childhood?"
"Amazons are a race of fierce warriors, my grandmother, their Queen, is the fiercest of them all, my mother can lift an eighteen-wheeler with one hand and my father was a spy for the allies." Hunter replied rolling his eyes, "The lack of a strong parental figure isn't my problem and before you ask, yes my father was involved in my childhood."
"Let me rephrase." Hugo took off his glasses and began to clean them, "Do you believe you would've been happier as a child if you were around more boys?"
"I had a happy childhood." Hunter snapped defensively, "Would I have liked to have someone I could relate to around my age? Yes of course but that doesn't mean I wasn't happy."
Hugo hummed before he continued, "And how was puberty?"
Hunter stammered before he sighed, "This is not how I imagined my afternoon. It was confusing." He shrugged.
"You just said your father was involved in your childhood."
He was beginning to get irritated, "He died when I was younger, old age."
"And how old were you?" The professor asked.
"Thirty-two but physically I appeared to be nine years old." He answered tapping his fingers against the chair, "No one taught me to cope with puberty. My mother brought me an anatomy book, we read it together at first but it quickly got awkward so I decided to read it on my own."
"You appear to be fifteen now so you must be at least in your sixties." Hugo muttered, "So you had to navigate your early teen years alone. Do you feel that may have had repercussions?"
Hunter gave the man a curious look, "Like what?"
Hugo leaned forward on his desk, "You had to go through puberty alone, figuring out all the changes your body was slowly going through on your own. You've stated that on each encounter that you've tried to defeat Ares alone. I feel that you think you need to unnecessarily place the weight of such responsibilities entirely on your shoulders."
"I had to face Ares on those occasions because no one else was strong enough." Hunter quickly replied.
"Is that true, was there no other members of the Justice League present?"
"I mean Red Tornado was there but-"
"I believe you have an inherent need to prove yourself not just to the league or the Amazons but to yourself." Strange said, "You believe you are unworthy of these abilities you possess because your gods didn't grant them to you." Hunter stammered before he looked away, "I hope we can touch upon this on our next session."
Hunter laid on his bed tossing and turning. He couldn't sleep. His session with Professor Strange replayed in his head over and over. Did he feel a need to prove himself? He's never really thought about it but perhaps he did it on instinct. He's always tried to find a place with the Amazons, the league, and with the team. Maybe he's onto something.
"Was all of that true?"
Hunter blinked in surprise before he replied.
"You listened in on my session?" He asked calmly.
"Sorry." She apologized, "I was going to inform you that we changed the plan but you were in the middle of your session. We're going to stay and prevent the breakout instead of leaving."
"That makes sense." He replied, "I'm fine it's all nonsense anyway."
"Is it?" M'gann asked, "On the island, you charged at Ares without a second thought. I've never seen you like that before. Then you did the same thing in the cave despite being injured. Perhaps there's some merit in what Professor Strange said."
Hunter raised his hand and swung his father's dog tags above his face and sighed.
"All my life I saw the differences between myself and everyone else. I'm different from the Amazons and I'm different from people of man's world. I've always tried to find my place amongst them whether that means being a prince, a warrior, or a hero." He closed his eyes, "I've always fought to find my place so that I can belong there and here but now I'm not so sure. I've fought to prove myself for so long I don't even know when I'm doing it now."
"Maybe to find your place you don't need to fight." The martian replied, "Maybe you need to slow down to find the path you're supposed to take." She suggested.
"Maybe you're right." He smiled before he asked, "How's Conner holding up?"
"As good as expected, he's sleeping right now." M'gann answered, "I should sleep too, big days ahead."
"No kidding, good night."
The next day during lunch Hunter sat next to Harley from across the glass and Diablo sat across from him. He's told them and the rest of the squad of the breakout. Normally most of them would be all for it but with the bombs in their necks, they knew that if everyone else breaks out they'll be left behind. Hunter convinced them to aid in stopping it to shave off a few more years from their sentences. He's only left out that M'gann and Conner were involved.
"Cut off Missy Frosty's informant as you told me to." Harley whispered, "That should slow down their party for now."
"Good, the more they wait the more time we have to prepare." Hunter replied eating his mashed potatoes, "Diablo, you sure you can handle five ice villains at once?"
"I can handle 'em." He said confidently.
"I'll take your word for it." The prince replied before he glanced up at Superboy who was looking at him. They looked at each other for a moment before Hunter smiled and looked away.
Conner smiled back before looking down at his food. Icicle Jr. saw the exchange, "Dude, trust me you don't want nothing to do with Harley Quinn. I mean she's hot and hall but she takes crazy to a whole new level."
Conner blinked before he looked over at the aforementioned clown to see her stick two straws in her nose and pretend to be a walrus. Hunter chuckled at her antics before she sneezed causing the two straws to fly out her nose, "I see what you mean." He smiled discreetly as Hunter laughed.
Suddenly a commotion erupted from the men's side of the cafeteria. Everyone looked up to see Freeze standing above Icicle Sr.. Hunter squinted as Freeze glanced at him before his collar began to shock him. Freeze's icy blue eyes looked up at Hunter and gave a nod.
Hunter gasped, "It's happening now." He whispered before he turned to the other two, "It's happening now."
"But we cut off Frosty's mole." Harley replied.
"Looks like Sr. doesn't want to wait." Diablo said as the guards escorted Freeze away, "What do we do?"
"For the next step, we need the whole squad together." Hunter muttered, "When we're being escorted back to the sub levels is when we make our move."
Walking down the hall Task Force X were for me into a line as they were escorted back to the service elevator. Walking in the opposite direction of them was Freeze. The taller man gave him a quick nod before Hunter hummed in confirmation. The Amazon began to breathe deeply in anticipation as he saw the elevator in view.
Hunter silently watched as one of the guards pressed the button for the elevator. He glanced over his shoulder at Harley, Copperhead, Croc, and Diablo who all nodded. Looking ahead to Boomer and Deadshot he saw them breathe deeply as well. Everyone is ready.
Hearing the ding of the elevator Hunter exclaimed, "Now!"
The whole squad sprung into action. Hunter kicked the nearest guard in the throat before raising his bound bracelets against his temple. Harley flipped into the air, wrapping her legs around a guard's neck before continuously head butting him. Croc used his size and way to bulldoze down two guards while Copperhead hopped off of his shoulder to deliver a dropkick to a third guard. Deadshot and Boomer worked together and knocked out four guards. All the while Diablo stood amongst the chaos.
"That all of 'em." Harley said blood staining her forehead.
"Now what, hero?" Copperhead asked before the entire hallway turned red and the alarms went off, "Oh."
"If they're going to cause a break you they'll need their powers back." Deadshot stated before their collars powered down, "That'll do it."
Croc broke off his collar before breaking off Hunter and Diablo's. Diablo quickly clasped his hands around the chains on Hunter's bracers. Feeling the metal beginning to weaken he used his strength to break the chains and free himself. Looking around he saw the whole squad freed of their collars.
"Deadshot, Boomer, get to Waller's office. The controls for the collars are in there go and protect her." He ordered before turning to the others, "Harley, Copperhead, you two find Frost and stop her. Croc, Diablo, you two with me."
The squad split into three groups and ran through the prison. Hunter's leading his group down the halls to cellblock holding Icicle Sr when he gasped. Grabbing Diablo and Croc, he flung them down the hall before he quickly ducked beneath slashing claws. He saw a blur of orange before a furred foot kicked him across the face sending him back down the hall.
Looking up he saw Cheetah smirking down at him. Looking past her he saw Croc and Diablo getting ready to attack her, "No, I can handle her stop the prison break!" He ordered and the other two nodded before continuing on their way.
Getting to his feet he glared at Cheeta before rolling up his sleeves, "I've longed for this opportunity." She growled.
"As have I." He replied before he spoke to M'gann.
"Guys I got a Cheetah problem won't make it for a while yet."
"I'll help." Conner quickly offered.
"Don't blow your cover." Hunter replied, "I've been waiting for this."
"Guys my cover's blown I-" M'gann yelped.
The connection cut off, "No." He muttered before a roar caught his attention.
Hunter quickly reacted narrowly missing the swipe at his throat. He quickly answered back by grabbing her wrist, pulling her forward he deliver a powerful headbutt. Cheetah recoiled in pain before she growled. Hunter smirked before his feet lifted off the floor.
"Until next time." He smirked before he flew down the hall in the opposite direction, "I'm coming M'gann."
In a burst of speed, he zig-zagged across the halls. Cheetah had to find a way into the male wing of the prison but where. Flying down the hallways he looked around to find anything that Cheetah could've used. His search came to an end when he found a hole in the wall.
"Found you." He muttered walking through the whole, "Now I need to-"
A deafening scream flung him across the room and against the wall. He covered his ears as he looked up to see Silver Swan. He smashed his hands into the ground. Lifting a section of the floor he used it as a makeshift shield.
"Stop this Vanessa!" He exclaimed as the sonic scream ended, "This isn't you." He said standing up.
"And how would you know who I am?" She demanded, "Your mother ruined my life, I had a future and she ripped it away from me!" She yelled before she let out her sonic scream.
Jumping across the room he narrowly avoided the scream. Lifting a metal desk he threw it at her but she sliced the desk in half with her wings. Flexing her wings, Silver Swan, charged at him. Slashing her claws at him he quickly blocked the attacks. Spinning around her razor-sharp wings swung at Hunter who quickly flipped over her. Grabbing the base of her neck he slammed her head into the ground, knocking her out.
Letting go of her, Hunter stood over Silver Swan. He moved to leave before he paused. Looking down at her wings he leaned down before breaking off a bladed feather. Twirling it around feeling its weight he nodded. Flying out of the room he continued with his search.
Flying down the halls he heard a voice, "Drag her to the laundry room." It was Killer Frost. Flying towards the source he found M'gann in her disguise being dragged down the hall. She was being held by Devastation with Killer Frost and Giganta.
This will be difficult now more than ever with Devastation involved. She was born from clay from Cronus who sculpted her. He and his mother were the ones who put her in here. Looking down at the blade in his hands he gripped it tighter until he bled. Watching them enter the laundry room he quietly followed.
Taking a deep breath he burst into the room surprising the three women, "Release her now!"
Frost looked to the two other women, "Handle this."
Devastation rushed forward bulldozing through the washing machines and dryers. Hunter flew forward grabbing a flying dryer and swung it at Devastation's head. The large woman stumbled back before Hunter swung the machine at her again but this time she grabbed his wrist and delivered a powerful blow to his face. Hunter bounced across the room hitting the wall.
Standing up Hunter glared at the three women. Frost blasted a nearby wall with ice before Giganta grew to the point where she had to crouch to fit in the room. Devastation charged once more at Hunter but this time he was ready. Ducking under the swing of her punch he used his blade to slice at the inside of her thigh. She cringed in pain before Hunter swung the feather upward swinging the blade across her chest. Devastation growled in pain and rage before Hunter jumped high and flipped forward delivering an ax-kick to her temple.
Devastation fell to the floor but Hunter didn't have time to catch his breath when a blast of ice sent him flying. Frost smirked as she forces him against the wall, "Not bad kid but you're still only a sidekick."
Hunter used his bracers to block the blast but they slowly began to freeze. He grunted as his arms begin to freeze before a roar erupted from the room. Everyone looked over to see Cheetah, "Enough Frost. The little prince is my quarry, move before you get caught up in my hunt."
Frost scoffed ending her assault, "Fine I don't care as long as he dies."
Frost left Hunter frozen against the wall. The prince panted ad he eyed Cheetah. The villainess purred as she approached him. She dragged her claws across the ice before she pressed them against Hunter's throat. Hunter looked over her shoulder at M'gann before he spotted a camera.
"This may not be the hunt I wanted but I'm still getting the game I deserve." She purred raising her hand.
"How?!" Hunter quickly asked causing the woman to cease her attack, "How did you make me see Ares? I know you have something to do with it."
Cheetah smirked, "Seeing as you're about to die I don't see any reason in hiding it." She said lowering her hand, "You see Circe and a person called Doctor Cyber came up with a plan to not only kill Wonder Woman but destroy her and everything she stands for." Hunter glared as the woman continued, "Breaking Ares out of jail was just the first step the second was you."
"You wanted me to lose all trust the people once had in me." He replied figuring out their plan, "But how?"
"Poison and Circe developed a hallucinogen out of Scarecrow's fear toxin." Cheetah explained, "You saw your greatest fear and as any Amazon, you didn't run or cower but fought against them and hurt many innocent people in the process." She let out a laugh, "I heard you even killed a little child."
Hunter snapped his head up, "I. . . l killed a child?" He stammered before he shook his head, "You're lying!"
"Now why would I do that?" She smirked before raising her hand.
Hunter looked into her eyes before he saw it. She wasn't lying, it's the truth. Bowing his head he began to pant in panic. He did it he killed a little child.
"Quit playing with your food and kill him!" Frost yelled.
"Watch yourself Frost or else." Cheetah growled before a white glow blinded her.
M'gann regained consciousness just in time to see white light engulf the room. She gasped, "Hunter?"
On the other side of the wall, Conner stood over Icicle Jr. as Mister Freeze froze both Mammoth and Blockbuster. The older ice villain played his part in the break-in before turning on the others. He allowed Deadshot and Boomer to get Waller to safety and ambushed Jr and Sr's muscle.
"The break out is a lost cause now." Freeze declared, "Now Wonder Warrior will tell me where my wife is."
"We still need to-"
An explosion shattered the wall to the woman's wing. Five figured flew out of the smoke. Conner and Freeze ducked for cover as the smoke cleared. Looking at the floor Conner saw Killer Frost, Cheetah, Giganta, Devastation, and M'gann who lost her disguise.
The clone rushed to her side and lifted her head off the floor. M'gann groaned in pain before she gasped and shot up, "Hunter!"
Conner's heart began to beat rapidly, "What happened, where's Hunter?!" He demanded.
M'gann didn't answer but only looked at the flames, "He lost control and-" Conner's heart dropped as another small explosion roared. He felt fear and despair at the thought of never seeing Hunter again. He let go of M'gann and stood up, "Conner wait!"
The Kryptonian didn't listen as he charged into the flames. Running into the inferno he looked around for Hunter, "Hunter, Hunter where are you?!" He called through the roaring of the flames.
Pushing nearby debris out of the way he spotted Hunter and his heart immediately ached. The prince was lying face down on the floor unmoving. Pushing past the debris he rushed to Hunter's side. The prince had burns trailing up and down his arms and up the left side of his neck.
"Stay with me." He begged before lifting Hunter into his arms.
Conner tried to get through the flames but the fire burned higher. He didn't want to risk hurting Hunter. He growled in frustration looking for another way out. He only stopped his search when Hunter stirred in his arms.
Conner looked down to see Hunter's eyes open, "Conner?"
Conner crouched down lifting Hunter upright, "Hey, yeah it's me."
"You shouldn't be here." Hunter whispered as he tried to remain conscious.
Conner blinked confused, "I had to have you."
Hunter shook his head, "I don't deserve it, not after what I've done."
Conner cupped Hunter's face, "It wasn't your fault, you hear me." He said sternly making Hunter look him in the eyes, "You would never do that."
Tears welled up in Hunter's eyes, "I killed a child, Conner."
"It was Cheetah, Ares and Circe, and all those other bastards. They used you because they know hurting you would hurt Wonder Woman." Conner said calmly, "I know you, you're kind, gentle, good and I know it. I know it more than anyone else."
"But I-"
Conner's lips silenced Hunter causing the Amazon to gasp. Hunter didn't think before he kissed back. Wrapping his arms around Conner's neck he deepened the kiss. A golden glow emitted from Hunter's body healing his burns before a pulse of gold instantly put out the flames.
Without the flames, the others could see into the room as well as the display of affection. M'gann smiled as Freez rolled his eyes. Icicle Jr. looked up with a groan and saw the two still kissing, "Wait if you're with. . . then that means." He looked up to see M'gann dropping her disguise, "And he-" He looked at Freeze who aimed his arm at him, "Dad's going to kill me." He groaned before he was blasted with ice.
The two pulled away for air and smiled. Hunter looked at the other and immediately gasped, "Where's Cheetah?"
M'gann and Freeze looked at the floor behind them to see the woman gone.
Mount Justice, September 19th, 11:00 A.M.
After greeting Hunter, Conner, and M'gann Batman addressed the team and the league, save for Superman, "After catching Cheetah on tape confessing to drugging Hunter all charges against Wonder Warrior were dropped."
"And apparently El Diablo and Killer Croc apprehended Icicle Sr., Captain Cold and Minister Blizzard." Shazam added playing footage of Diablo transforming into a large burning skeleton as Croc bulldozed through rioters, "Croc is being sent back to Arkham and Diablo is getting a substantially reduced sentence."
"Same with Deadshot and Captain Boomerang who got the warden to safety." Flash stated as their mugshots appeared.
"Not to mention Harley Quinn and Copperhead who single handedly got the female wing under control." Black Canary played the footage of the two women fighting off the other inmates, "Quinn is being sent back to Arkham as well."
"And Freeze?" Hunter asked nervously.
"Apparently the prison break was a traumatizing experience and he pleaded insanity." Batman stated, "He's going back to Arkham with Croc and Quinn. But that's not all."
"Three prisoners escaped Bell Reve." Wonder Woman stated as three pictured appeared on screen, "Cheetah, Doctor Psycho and the Riddler."
"Finding them will be on top of our to do list." Green Arrow informed, "As well as figuring who Doctor Cyber is."
"That's not all." Martian Manhunter stated, "After Wonder Warrior was sent to Belle Reve, Amanda Waller made him a part of Task Force X. During his imprisonment, Task Force X was dispatched to break into the Fortress of Solitude."
"Dude, you broke into the Fortress of Solitude?" Wally whispered as Hunter blushed embarrassed.
"There they stole the Phantom Zone Projector." He explained as the image of the device appeared and Hunter immediately recognized it.
"That's what that was?" He asked aloud, "What is it?"
Green Lantern answered, "It's a device that creates a portal to a dimension known as the Phantom Zone. It was used by Kryptonians to imprison their worse criminals."
"So that's what Waller wants, an inescapable prison?" Robin asked.
"We understand that there's a new development as well." Wonder Woman said knowingly looking at Hunter and Conner who both blushed.
"That won't be a problem will it?" Conner asked unsurely.
"As long as you don't let it affect the team your personal lives are your own." Batman replied.
Hunter then smiled up at Superboy and took his hand in his own, "Of course not." The clone smiled back.
Washington D.C., September 21st, 10:47 P.M.
In a descending elevator below ground, Rick Flag stood across from Amanda Waller.
"Surprised when you called me." Rick said, "I would've thought that since you're not warden anymore we'd never see each other again."
Waller smirked, "You're not that lucky Flag." She turned to face the door, "Being warden was a means to an end. I had already set myself up for such a higher position." She said before the elevator opened, "You're looking at the new director of ARGUS."
Rick blinked in shock before following her. Following her into a sealed room he saw a light scan Waller before the door opened. Entering the room Rick was met with a large spherical room. The walls were lined with red lights surrounding a capsule.
"We lost a few members of Task Force X after the breakout." Waller said but she smirked, "But he will make up for them."
"Who is he?" Rick asked cautiously.
"The newest member of Task Force X." Waller answered, "General Zod."
