Kagome's P.O.V.
I stared down at Inuyasha in absolute shock, my mouth gaping a bit. How could he do something so terrible? Was it because I decided to help Koga?
Thinking about that made me a little angry. I mean, Inuyasha was the two-timing bastard, not me. And wasn't he the one that broke it off with me? My look of horror slowly began to turn into one of disgust. I watched on as Inuyasha looked at the blood on his hands, with a shocked look on his face. Koga leaped down with me still in his arms before gently putting me down next to him. Why was he so quiet?
"You stay right here, Kagome," Koga said to me with a gentle tone. His voice was gentle, sure, but I could tell that he was angry. I hated when people covered their emotions. I just want to comfort him… but maybe people deal with things in their own special way. I made a bit of a face, but I couldn't help it. I knew how to hold my tongue, sometimes, but my expression always showed what I was feeling. "Is there something wrong?," he said, looking into my eyes tenderly. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw his right hand- the same arm he put the jewel shard in- clenched and shaking with rage.
"No, Koga, I just…" I trailed off, keeping quiet. Miroku, Sango, Inuyasha… I could feel everyone's eyes on me, even Shippo and Kirara were staring at Koga and I interact. I'm pretty sure everyone, even innocent Shippo and thick-headed Inuyasha, could tell that the relationship between us had changed. What had been a spark when we first met had long budded and began to blossom into something special. Our body language, the way he was looking at me with that sparkle in his eyes… Everything about us was giving it away. I began to blush, remembering how we almost kissed before coming here. I wasn't so sure if I wanted to reveal our new… development to the world just yet. I mean, when Inuyasha and I started to add to our friend group, upon meeting each one of them, they each figured out that there was something 'special' between Inuyasha and I… and now each of them know he dropped me like a rock. Inuyasha often made it obvious that he didn't want people knowing that we had something, going so far as to even insult me and yell reasons why he wouldn't be with me. Not only did my heartbreak sting, I also have the humiliation to go with it. What if Koga ended up dumping me, too?
My thoughts were interrupted by the feeling of Koga's strong hand gently gripping my waist. He brought me closer to him until our chests were almost touching. "Everything will be fine, Kagome. Don't worry your pretty little head over a single thing."
"It seems Kagome and Koga have gotten closer since we last saw them together." Sango said. There was a light blush spread across her cheeks, watching the passion between us. Miroku hummed thoughtfully.
"You're right about that," he said matter-of-factly. "I have to say, I'm happy for both of them. Koga must be over the moon at the fact that he finally got her after pinning for her for so long."
Sango nodded, looking at the monk. "Mm, and Kagome deserves something good after what Inuyasha put her through."
"That's very true, but… You don't think she's using Koga as a rebound do you? I mean, she's always pretended not to notice his advances, so why be all gushy with him now?"
"... I really hope you're wrong, Miroku. Kagome's not that type of girl."
I blushed even harder, my ears even turning red hearing Miroku and Sango, and I could feel Inuyasha's gaze burning into the side of my head. Even so, I couldn't keep my eyes off of Koga. I didn't know how to feel. Should I push him away? Everyone watching us like this… Was it really what I wanted? I bit my lip softly, my heart and my mind saying two different things. I didn't want to look like a fool in front of everyone again. Before I could say anything, Koga brought me closer, bringing me into a firm, but gentle embrace. He held me tenderly, my face in his chest. I could hear his pounding heart. His right arm was around my waist, his hand holding me gently while his other hand held the back of my head and gently pressed my head to his chest. "Koga.." We were only like that for a few moments, but it felt like forever. Time seemed to stop. Inuyasha and our friends watching us, the scent of blood heavy in the air, the dozens of corpses at our feet… Nothing seemed to matter in those few moments he held me.
Koga's body was hot, most likely with rage, but I could feel his muscles relax, and he seemed to calm down a bit. After those few moments, he let me go and turned to Inuyasha before taking a few slow steps towards him and his tail swaying to the left. I didn't dare look up at the both of them; I could still feel Inuyasha's intense gaze on me.
"Well, Inuyasha… Is this your way of seeking revenge?" I could hear the anger in Koga's voice begin to rise. "Kagome wants to be with me and in turn you kill my brothers?! How despicable can you get?" I finally felt Inuyasha's attention veer away from me.
"Tch, don't act like she's some prize to be won in the first place," Inuyasha glanced at me and we made eye contact for a split second, "As if I'd go through the trouble of slaughtering a bunch of mangy wolf demons over her."
"Care to explain why you're covered head to toe in their blood, then?" Koga began to scowl deeply.
"Listen, they were dead when we got here. Before I knew it, they rose from the ground and started attackin' me," he explained. "This is some kind of set up, I swear. Naraku's scent is all over this place."
"... Do you really expect me to believe that?" Koga snarled. To me, it did sound phony. Inuyasha certainly is a good liar… but I wouldn't be surprised if this was Naraku's doing. Koga possesses shards of the Shikon jewel.
"Koga, we know you and Inuyasha aren't the best of friends, but please believe him!" Sango called out.
"Sango's right," Miroku added, "He may not be the smartest guy in the world, but he wouldn't do something this terrible to make you angry on purpose."
"Yeah!" Shippo cried. "And he knows Kagome cares about you so why would he do something so terrible if he still loves her?" Miroku swiftly covered Shippo's mouth before he could say anything else. Let him say what he wants, Miroku. We all know Inuyasha doesn't love me. He never did. I looked at the kitsune before averting my gaze. Does Inuyasha really love me?
"I don't love her! That's impossible!" Inuyasha's gruff voice rang out. I missed hearing him talk. What am I saying? I looked up at him, and while he was speaking, there was that same twinkle in his eyes as Koga had… Maybe he does…
Suddenly, Koga's fist flew towards Inuyasha's head, and the other dodged it just in time.
"Quit yer blabbering!" Koga held his fist, the power from the Shikon jewel shard coming off his knuckles in waves. "Stop makin' excuses and getting yer friends to cover up for ya!" Koga led an assault of kicks and punches against Inuyasha before landing a swift kick to the hanyou's stomach.
"You want a fight, huh?" Inuyasha said, bringing out Tetsusaiga. "Well, bring it on, skinny wolf. I've had a bone to pick with you ever since we met." He smirked, holding his sword.
"Oh, yeah? Well now I have more of a reason to take yer life. This is not only because you hurt my Kagome, but it's revenge for the deaths of my brothers." Koga's voice was filled with pure disgust. Inuyasha held up his sword to block Koga's powerful punch, but Koga overpowered him, pushing him back. "You murderer!" The sheer power of the collision sent intense waves through the area, ruffling my kimono and messing up my hair. I crossed my forearm in front of my face so nothing would get into my eyes.
When will all this fighting stop?
I feel like Koga feels a little ooc in the beginning of this chapter but I feel like his love for kagome is so strong that even through his rage of seeing his comrades dead, he wants to make sure she's safe and okay before anything :) thanks for the reviews yall
