Chapter 66

Don't Leave Me

Lily's POV

He risked his life to save my brother. Hermione had taken us to the Forest of Dean.

"Draco!"

He looked to be in so much pain. I looked at Hermione.

"There should be an apothecary satchel in my bag! Hurry!"

She quickly found it and handed it to me.

"Draco this is not gonna taste good and it might hurt but you need to drink this."

I helped him up and he drank. There was a look of disgust on his face and he cried out in pain. Tears filled my eyes.

'I know, I know!"

He took my hand and squeezed.

"Potter?"

"He's fine." I said.

After a while he passed out, I was assuming from the pain. I'd never been so grateful for being the daughter of the potion's master. Hermione put up the tent and then got Harry inside before helping me with Draco. We laid him down and I went to check on my brother. He had a bit of a bump on his head but he didn't have any cuts or bites. I covered him to keep him warm before going back to Draco. I sat on the floor next to the bunk and took his hand.

"Please don't leave me, Draco. I can't exist without you." I whispered.

Tears welled in my eyes as I kissed his hand.

"I love you."

I refused to sleep that night. I wanted to make sure he was alright. Throughout the night his breathing remained normal and the infection from the bite was gone. I smiled a bit and laid my head on his chest.

Dad, he's alive because of what you taught me. Thank you, daddy.

I couldn't find a way to stay awake anymore. I drifted off to sleep, still holding onto Draco's hand.

Harry's POV

I opened my eyes and everything was blurry. I felt around for my glasses and put them on. I saw Lily on the floor and Malfoy asleep on one of the bunks. I frowned but when I moved closer I saw the bandages. Lily looked exhausted so I went to find Hermione.

"You've outdone yourself this time Hermione."

She looked at me as I walked outside.

"What happened to him?"

She smiled a bit.

"He was the closest to you. You were unconscious and he made a run for you. The snake bit Malfoy's arm but we still managed to get away."

I looked back towards the tent. Lily had really changed him.

"I'll have to thank him properly when he wakes up."

She nodded.

"You wanted to know who the boy in the photograph is. I know. Gellert Grindewald."

"He was the one in Gregoravitch's wand shop. Speaking of which where is my wand."

She bit her lip and slowly moved the blanket. There was my wand... broken.

"I'm so sorry, Harry. I cast a curse and it rebounded."

"It's done. Just leave me yours and I'll take over the watch." I said quickly.

She didn't argue and I was glad.

Draco's POV

I could hear a voice before I opened my eyes.

"You're only seventeen."

That was Potter.

"Yeah? He asked when we were sixteen. It's not like we'd be doing it tomorrow."

Lily. I heard Potter take a deep breath.

"I promised I wouldn't get in your way. I still don't like him, there's a chance I never will... but I know you love him. And I've seen how much he loves you. You have my blessing."

I heard her run to him and I assumed she hugged him.

"But if he screws up he'll answer to me."

She laughed.

"I love you, Harry."

"I love you too."

Someone left, I knew it was Potter because Lily came back to sit by me. She took my hand and I opened my eyes.

"Lily." I said.

She looked at me and the biggest smile came to her face.

"Oh thank god!"

I sat up slowly and pulled her into my arms.

"I'm alright, love."

"Thank you, for saving Harry."

I smiled.

'You've lost so much already. I couldn't let you lose him."

She leaned back and looked at me seriously.

"But I can't lose you. My life wouldn't be worth living without you."

I took her face in my hands and pressed my forehead to hers.

"I'm not going anywhere. I would never leave you."

She threw her arms around me again and held me tightly. I closed my eyes and breathed in the sweet scent of her hair.

"I couldn't leave you, you promised to marry me. Remember?"

She laughed a bit and leaned back. I traced her lips with my thumb before kissing her. She moved her lips with mine and I pulled her onto my lap. She slid her tongue past my lips and I couldn't stop myself from moaning. I ran my fingers through her silky hair and then broke the kiss.

"If I don't stop now I won't be able to." I told her.

She chuckled and nodded.

"Please don't ever scare me like that again. I can't stand seeing you in pain."

I nodded and stroked her cheek.

"I love you, Lily."

"And I love you, Draco. Always."

I nodded with a smile.

"Always."

She looked at her ring. It was still on her right hand. I slowly took it off and then put it on the correct finger.

"I'd say this makes it more official." I said.

She smiled and nodded before I kissed her hand.

"You need to rest a little more. I want to make sure any poison or trace of infection is completely gone."

I knew better than to argue with her by now. I laid back but I pulled her onto the bunk with me. She curled up in my arms and quickly fell asleep. I wasn't very tired, but being there under the warm blankets, Lily in my arms and the soft sounds of the forest outside, I fell asleep again.

Lily's POV

I felt a little better when I woke up. Draco was fast asleep again. I smiled and kissed his cheek. I carefully got out of the bunk so as not to wake him. I went outside to talk with Harry, but he wasn't there.

"Harry?"

I looked around but I couldn't see him.

"Ha-!"

I stopped when I saw it.

"Dad!"

I ran to the Doe Patronus with a smile. I looked around but I couldn't see my dad. I sighed sadly and looked at the doe.

"You're not here, are you?" I asked softly.

I sank to my knees knowing the doe wouldn't answer me. But I knew dad could hear me wherever he was.

"I'm scared, daddy. Draco was almost killed, Ron's left us and Harry lost his wand. I've been trying to stay strong like you always taught me, but its just so hard. I need you." I said.

Silent tears rolled down my cheeks.

"It's so hard to hear people say nasty things about you when Draco and I are the only ones who know the truth. I act like I know what I'm doing, but I don't. Inside I'm screaming and wanting everything to just stop."

The doe started to walk away. I jumped up and ran after it.

"Wait! Come back!" I cried.

I ran as fast as I could after the doe. It led me a to a little lake. The ice was broken and I saw my brother's cloths on the ground.

"HARRY!"

Someone surfaced and dragged my brother up. It was Ron!

"Ron!"

I saw the sword of Gryffindor in his hand.

"He dove in for it. That thing was strangling him."

The locket was on the ground. I took off my coat and wrapped it around my brother as he started to pull his cloths on. I picked up the locket and looked at Ron.

"I think you should do this, Ron."

Harry immediately agreed.

Draco's POV

Lily wasn't next to me when I opened my eyes. Granger was asleep on the bunk across the room. She must have been outside with her brother. I sat up and rubbed my eyes. It was still cold but I could see the sun coming up. I walked outside for some fresh air and to give Lily a kiss, but she wasn't there. In fact, no one was there!

"LILY!?"

I heard her call my name and ran towards her. She flew into my arms and I held her tightly. She was so cold.

"What the bloody hell were-"

I stopped when I saw Weasley. More than that, I saw the sword in his hand and the broken locket in the other.

"You destroyed it then?" I asked.

He just nodded. I knew Weasley and I would probably never get along, at least not completely.

"Good."

Potter started calling for Granger. I smirked a bit because I knew she was gonna go mental on Weasley.

"IS everything okay?"

"Yeah, fine. Actually it's more than fine."

She came out and immediately looked at Weasley.

"Hey." he said.

Lily bit her lip nervously.

"You. Comeplete. ARSE RONALD WEASLEY!"

She started throwing things at him.

"You show up here after weeks! And you say 'hey'?" she looked around. "Where's my wand?"

I looked at Potter and he pretended not to know.

"I don't know."

"Harry Potter you give me my wand!"

"How come he's got your wand?"

She rounded on him.

"Never mind why he's got my wand."

She seemed to finally notice the hrocrux.

"What is that?"

He held it up."

"You destroyed it? And how is it that Harry just happens to have the sword of Gryffindor?"

Lily looked down for some reason. She took my hand but didn't say anything, nor did she look at me.

"It's a long story." Potter told her.

She narrowed her eyes.

"Don't think this changes anything." She snapped.

"Oh of course not! I only just destroyed a bloody horcrux! Why would that change anything. Listen, I wanted to come back the second I left. I just didn't know where to find you." He said.

I managed to keep myself from rolling my eyes.

"Yeah, how did you find us?" Potter asked.

He pulled something out of his pocket. I'd seen Dumbledore with it once before.

"With this. It doesn't just turn off lights. I don't really know how it works. Christmas morning, I was sleeping in this little pub, keeping away from some snatcher's when I heard it."

"It?"

I couldn't help but ask.

"A voice... your voice, Hermione." He said.

I looked at Granger, but she still looked angry.

"And what did I say?"

"My name. Just my name." I smiled a little. "Just a whisper, so I took it, clicked it, and this tiny ball of light appeared. And I just knew. Sure enough it floated towards me, right into my chest here," he covered his heart. "And I knew it was gonna take me where I wanted to go. I disapparated to a hillside, I had no idea where I was, I just hoped one of you would show yourself. That was when I saw the doe."

I arched my brow.

"What do you mean doe?"

"The patronus genius."

I looked at Lily and she went into the tent.

"What's wrong with her?"

I didn't know if I should say anything or not. Potter looked at me and I shrugged.

"I don't know. And I doubt she'll tell anyone. You know how she is."

"True enough. Doesn't mean I won't try."

He followed Lily into the tent and I saw Granger looking at me. I couldn't say anything, especially not with Weasley there. But I knew that the doe was Snape's patronus. He had to have been the one that led them to the sword.
