Chapter 70

A Brief Measure of Peace

Draco's POV

Relieved was not a strong enough word for how I felt. I thought that Weasley's brother and his new wife would throw me out. They did the opposite. They brought me inside, gave me a cup of tea and a blanket. Lily was on the couch, her eyes looked so tired. I went and sat down next to her, wrapping the blanket around us both. She had dark circles under her eyes. I set the tea down on a table.

"Is there a spare bed for her to sleep in? She's so tired and she needs... deserves a good night's sleep." I said.

Fleur smiled gently and nodded. I picked up Lily and followed Fleur.

"You'll all be safe here."

I nodded my thanks and laid Lily on the bed. She took my hand and looked into my eyes.

"Please don't leave me." she whispered.

I held onto her and and she pulled me into the bed with her. I wrapped my arms around her and moved until I was in a comfortable position.

"Go to sleep, darling. No one is going to bother us here. You can sleep uninterrupted and dream about the future. I'll hold you all night and all day if need be."

She fisted her hand in my shirt and buried her face in my chest.

"I love you."

I smiled and kissed the top of her head.

"And I love you. So much." I told her.

After she fell asleep I realized how tired I was. I closed my eyes and carefully moved so I could lay my head on the pillow. I could hear the waves outside and I quickly fell asleep.

Lily's POV

I woke up in what seemed to be the middle of the night. Draco was sound asleep beside me, his arms holding me close. I smiled softly and listened to his heartbeat. After a while, I felt him rubbing my back.

"Draco?" I asked softly.

"Lily? Did I wake you?"

"No."

"You alright? You looked so tired."

"I was. I still am a little but I don't want to sleep anymore."

I looked up at him and touched is cheek, the stubble there rough on my skin. He closed his eyes as I moved my fingers down his neck and across his throat. The sound of the waves outside was soothing. I traced over his lips before softly kissing them, while my fingers trailed down his chest.

"That feel really nice." he murmured.

I reached the hem of his shirt and slowly slid my fingers under it. His hard abs and chiseled chest felt incredible and he seemed to really be enjoying himself.

"Your touch is always so gentle. So soothing and warm." he said.

I kissed him again softly and I felt him stroke my cheek.

"It's the little moments like this that makes this whole war worth fighting. So that we can have more time like this, just the two of us. Without having to worry about the dark lord or death eaters. We can just live in peace together." I said.

He stopped my hand over his heart and opened his eyes.

"I'll buy you a house in the countryside. Wherever you want."

I smiled.

"You'll sing for our children. You'll sing that lullaby for them and we'll tell them every day that we love them. We'll see them off to Hogwarts and write to them."

Hearing about what we planned to do in the future was what kept me going. It gave me the strength to keep fighting. I moved my hand out from under his shirt and he brought it back to his heart.

"We could even get a puppy."

Tears filled my eyes.

"Gypsy. She's still home at Spinner's End."

Draco tightened his hold on me.

"I'm sure she's okay. Cats are intelligent animals." he told me.

I knew he was trying to make me feel better, but I missed my cat. I sat up and pushed my hair back.

Draco sat up and put his arm around me.

"I promise the first thing we'll do when this is over is go and get her."

I looked at him and nodded.

"Do you think we'll end up going back to Hogwarts?" I asked him.

He looked down and seemed to be thinking.

"Maybe. And if we do I need you to promise me something."

I nodded.

"Don't leave my side. You stay with me. If I lost you..."

I gently took his face in my hands before kissing him softly.

"You'll never lose me. But if it makes you feel better then I promise."

He nodded and kissed me again. I moved my hands up his chest and wrapped them around his neck. We sank back into the bed and he leaned back slightly.

"I don't think we can do this here. I mean... the Weasley's already hate my family."

"But... Draco I need you. This is the first normal night we've had in a while."

He looked around and then smiled. He rolled off me and took my hand.

"Come with me."

He opened the window and climbed out before helping me out. He summoned a blanket from the chair and then led me away from the house. It was chilly but as we moved away from the water it got a little better. Draco laid out the blanket and added a cushioning charm. We laid down and he took my hand.

"Look up there." he said.

There were so many stars. I smiled and took a deep breath. For right now there was no danger. Draco turned onto his side and then gently turned my face towards his.

"I love you, Lily."

"And I love you." I said softly.

He kissed me and traced my lip with his tongue. I opened my mouth to him and he moaned softly. I raised my hand to his cheek before moving to the back of his neck. I tangled my fingers in his soft blond hair and he moved on top of me.

"I promise you the next time we do this we'll have a bed."

"It doesn't matter to me, but a bed does sound nice."

He smiled and kissed me again. I slowly moved my hand down his back and then under his shirt. His skin was smooth and warm. He moaned as I pushed his shirt up. He broke the kiss so he could take his shirt off and I immediately started to run my hands all over him. He leaned back on his knees and unbuckled his belt, sliding his trousers down to his ankles. I took off my shirt but he had me keep my bra on.

"Just in case they come looking for us." he whispered.

We crawled back through the window and got into bed. She shivered a bit so I waved my wand and the window closed and the blanket covered us. I looked at her and she smiled at me with so much love in her emerald eyes. I kissed her forehead and held her close as we both drifted off to sleep.
