Chapter 77
They Live In Us
"These deaths will not go unpunished. I know that this pain will never go away, but it can help us fight. My father taught me that. Voldemort killed him this night, for protecting me. For protecting my brother. You all thought he was no better than Voldemort himself. You were wrong. We can't let him win. I'm not afraid anymore. I will fight to my last breath if I must. My father once told me that I was a Snape. That life would knock me down, but that I would always get back up. I'm getting back up. What will you do?"
Draco stood up and took my hand. Ron stood up next. Then Hermione, Luna, Neville, Pavarti and the others.
"They will not have died in vain. But Voldemort will." Neville said.
I nodded and then heard marching. I went outside and the others followed. Voldemort was walking forward with his death eaters.
"Ah, sweet Lily Potter."
"It's Snape. Lillian Rose Snape." Ron said.
I looked at Ron in shock. He smiled with a nod and I smiled back.
"At last, my brother stopped you."
He laughed at me and pointed to Hagrid. Harry lay dead in his arms.
"Harry Potter is dead!"
"No. He's still with us. They all are. They live in us! In our hearts! And you destroyed your last horcrux. I'm not afraid of you. My father taught me better. You're the one who's afraid. You're afraid to die, to be forgotten. You were afraid of Dumbledore and you're afraid of my brother. And it's your fear that makes you weak. You will not live forever, Tom Riddle."
Draco's POV
The way she was standing, the way she was talking, I knew Severus Snape was still alive. He was alive through his daughter. She took another step forward.
"Your lust for power and control will be your downfall. Come on Tom, you know that I'm right. Nothing can save you now." She said.
She was scary, just like Snape. If not more so.
"It seems I didn't really kill Severus, did I? It looks as though a part of him still stands before us now. His beloved little girl. His 'legacy'. Shall I send you to him then, Snapeling?"
"I'll see my father again, but not today. He wants me to do more with my life. And after I kill you, I'll do just that." She said.
I smiled at her. And she was going to be my wife. She walked out further.
"Hit me with your best shot. I know a lot more curses than you, lord noseless."
I almost laughed and he glared at her. One of the death eaters went forward but she easily got rid of him.
"My father didn't raise a coward." She said.
Another death eater came and another after him. She took them all out.
Lily's POV
I could feel my dad there with me. I wasn't afraid.
"I wonder what your father would think of this? Oh wait, wasn't he a muggle?"
He fired at me but I blocked.
"Is that all you've got?"
"Stupid girl! Your father isn't here to save you now."
"You have no right to talk about my father. He was ten times the wizard you could ever be."
I heard people whispering behind me.
"Her dad was scary."
"Insolent half-blood!"
I didn't say anything. I just stood ready to fight. That was when my brother rolled out of Hagrid's arms. I smiled and he looked at me. I nodded and he started to run. A lot of the death eaters started to apparate away. Draco pulled me back and we ran back into the castle. As he pulled me away I saw Neville pull the sword of Gryffindor from the hat. My eyes widened and he ran at the snake.
"NEVILLE NO!"
Voldemort threw him back and he flew into the wall.
"He's not dead but we will be if we stay out here. Come on!"
He grabbed my wrist and we ran.
Draco's POV
I heard someone say traitor and turned. My mother was cornered. Lily saw it too and she actually tackled one of the death eaters. I killed them both and then pulled Lily up before hugging my mother tightly.
"Come on! We have to keep moving!" Lily said.
As we moved into the Great Hall I heard my aunt's demented laugh. She was trying to kill Potter's girlfriend. I ran forward and blocked my aunt's spell. Before I could do anything further, Mrs. Weasley stood up.
"Not my daughter you bitch!"
The tone of her voice actually made me shiver. She fought my aunt and killed her. I actually smiled, happy that she would never darken my mother's life again. Or mine for that matter.
"Draco!"
Lily ran to me and took my hand.
"Where's the snake?"
We ran back into the hall and looked around.
"Ron! Behind you!"
I saw Weasley duck just in time to avoid the snake. Granger threw a rock at it and it started to chase them down the stairs.
"Where's the sword!? Where's Longbottom?!"
I couldn't find him and Lily didn't answer. She was looking into the courtyard where Potter was facing the dark lord. She ran out and I couldn't stop her. Weasley and Granger were cornered and the snake was coiled to strike. I found the sorting hat but the sword wasn't there. I was about ready to just try magic when Longbottom charged forward. The snake unhinged it's jaw and went forward. Longbottom swung and and I cast a shield around Weasley and Granger. Longbottom killed the snake and it just exploded. I looked back outside. I ran out and stood next to Lily. The two of them cast their spells once more, green hitting red. And the green was forced back into the dark lord. The elder wand flew from his hand and Potter caught it.
"He did it."
Lily took my hand and we watched... Voldemort die. This time, there was no way for him to come back.
