Pairing: Koumei Ren x Kagome Higurashi

Feeling her shoulder suddenly being occupied by a chin, the miko blinked to her left to see the freckled general of the Kou Empire looking over her shoulder. A low sigh passed his lips as his eyes trailed the scroll in her hands.

"Long day, Koumei-sama?" She asked with a smile.

Koumei gave a pout as he heard the formal suffix added to his name. "Kagome, I told you that when we are alone you don't have to address me formally."

Kagome chuckled under her breath as her eyes returned to the scroll. She knew Koumei hated working, but with the Kou Empire going into war against Magnostadt, there was no time to rest.

Arms circled around her waist before she was brought back to a firm chest. Looking at the second prince closing his eyes while resting his chin on her shoulder, a small smile appeared on her lips. "Koumei-san, you can't fall asleep. We have to meet with your brother, Kouen-sama, later."

"Hai, hai," he yawned, "just let me be like this for a while."

Kagome set the scroll down on the table in front of her before she turned around inside Koumei's arms to face him. Cupping his cheeks into her hands, her lips gave a soft peck on his lips. "Promise me you will be careful when all of you leave?"

As the Kou Empire's miko, she was not allowed to go into war - much to her dismay - due to Kouen's orders, but the least she could do was give them support.

Koumei rested his forehead against hers before he spoke. "I promise. You have nothing to worry about."

"Please come back safe and sound."

The second prince chuckled tiredly before placing a gentle kiss on the miko's forehead. "I will come back to your arms in no time, Kagome." Closing his eyes slowly, he tightened his hold around her waist. "Now let me sleep for a few minutes before we have to meet with nii-sama."

"Hai, hai."
