CHAPTER TWENTY-SEVEN
When I woke up, I was feeling more well rested than I did in a while. The nausea was gone as if it never happened. Not only that, David was still beside me with his eyes closed as if he was truly sleeping.
I reached up to stroke his face. The synthetic skin was soft, but the frame was sturdy. There was not a single physical imperfection on him and I knew because I had thoroughly explored everything. That being said, he wasn't exactly perfect. He had the moral compass of a child and the curiosity to match it.
Tilting my head further, I placed a gentle kiss on the corner of his lips. He kept insisting that he didn't have emotions, but I was certain that he just didn't understand them. Eventually, I would convince him otherwise.
After sliding off his pants, I shifted over him and sank onto his cock. I let out a whimper, loving how he fit so perfectly inside me. "David…" I sighed, rotating my hips. So good… He felt so good…
As my breath quickened, I moved faster. He remained completely still with his eyes closed. It was as if he was merely a doll, but that was definitely not the case. There was nothing normal about him. "Love you… Love you… Love you…" I chanted as I was brought careening over the edge, convulsing around his squirting member.
I collapsed tiredly back on to his body and laid there with my head nestled at the crook of his neck. "I love you so much…"
When I looked up again, his eyes were open. "Did you enjoy that?"
"You know I did, but I do prefer you on top," I told him.
He hummed. "Very well."
In one swift movement, I was on my back and staring wide-eyed at him.
He grinned devilishly before removing the rest of the clothes I was too lazy to tend to. He placed my legs on his shoulders and began to thrust. My eyes rolled to the back of my head as he pounded into my G-spot. His name sang through the cavern and echoed down its infinite passages.
"Come, my beautiful doll…" he purred. "Come for me."
I let out a long whine before feeling my body convulse beneath him. My vision went black as pleasure was the only thing I could feel.
"...'back to me…" His hand caressed my cheek, until my eyes fluttered open to see him staring gently back at me. "Was that more to your liking?"
When I opened my mouth, I could only let out a whimper as he was still hard inside me and my body was reacting to it. I wrapped my arms around his waist and rolled us over so that we were still connected, but I was on top, resting in my favourite position.
"You know it was," I mumbled when I was no longer governed by the mind-blowing orgasm. I liked it when he was in control in bed and perhaps in other aspects of my life. Sometimes, it felt as if it was spinning out of hand. I didn't want to deal with being on this planet where I didn't know anything or anyone. I didn't want to have to keep this terrible secret that my child was an alien or that my lover is a murdering synthetic or that the baby in my womb could be anything. I didn't even know what I was anymore!
Tears began to leak out of my eyes and once the dam was broken, I couldn't keep it in.
He waited quietly for me to collect myself. His hands stroked down my back several times before resting on my waist.
"Don't leave me… Don't ever leave me…" I begged, clutching him tighter as I feared that my sanity would be whisked away if I didn't.
"You know that I will never let you go even if you want me gone. You are mine, Cassandra - your mind, body, and soul. Your will is for mine to bend and mould. Everything that you have is mine." He gripped my chin to tilt it towards him. His eyes burned like blue fire.
There were only two words I could utter at that time.
"I'm yours…"
…
I walked through his laboratory. Most of the items were made of wood, but I recognised several tools and scanners from the ship.
"Mmph! Mmph mm!"
Frowning, I looked to my left to see several cells housing familiar faces. Most of them were completely unresponsive, but the one in the centre, however…
I crouched down in front of him while he continued to struggle and glare. "Well, look at you… They told me you escaped, but… I guess that was a loose term for what happened to you."
When he opened his mouth to swear at me, I noticed that he was missing a very important organ. His tongue. He was never going to be able to use his filthy words on anyone ever again.
"You know… I never wanted this to happen," I began. "You were pushy and a little creepy, but… You are - were - part of the colony and every human is important. Why did it matter so much to you that I wasn't interested? You are a handsome man and the fact that you passed inspection to get on the Covenant indicates that there is something special about you. I am certain that you could've found someone who would love you or even fulfilled your sexual desires willingly."
He tried to spit at me, but the saliva ended up dribbling down his chin.
"I don't think the others really care about what happened to you anymore. They all seemed relieved that they didn't have to deal with the problem. At least you're still contributing to the cause, right? You're still going to be a part of progress. You won't be able to enjoy it, but it's something." I stood up with a sigh. "I hope you don't have to suffer long."
Jared's eyes slid over my shoulder and I felt his warmth press against my back.
David wrapped his arms around my waist and made it a show to pull me into a deep kiss. I moaned against his mouth, loving the display he was presenting to the man who accused me of exactly this.
"Mmm! Mmph!"
We broke apart and both turned to see Jared struggling harder, spittle flying from his mouth.
"I can assure you, Cassandra, he will suffer for a very, very long time," David growled, leering at the could've been rapist. "There shall be no mercy for the wicked."
With a press of a button, Jared's body seized up as electricity coursed through his body. When it stopped, he was limp with his head hanging.
I closed my eyes. "Did you really have to do that?"
"No," David simply stated. "I wanted to."
My heart leapt in my chest.
"Okay…" I quietly replied with a small smile on my face.
I looked at the captured colonists once more. Almost all the missing ones were there - Christine, Karen, Rupert, Milo… They looked like broken rag dolls with no realisation of what was happening to them.
"I hope you don't feel pain anymore," I whisper. "But know that this is for a greater cause." With that, I couldn't bear to look at them any longer.
Turning to David, I asked, "What are you working on now?"
"I'm trying to duplicate the results I had with you, but the parasite always attacks their brains first, which leaves them in this vegetative state. You, Cassandra, are my only perfect creation." He ran his hand through his various tools before smiling at me. "You are my gold standard."
I smiled back at him, feeling a soft blush paint across my cheeks. Wrapping my arms around his neck, I pulled him down for another kiss. "I love you, David."
He rested his chin on top of my head and allowed me to hold him for as long as I wanted.
"I should return soon," I whispered, lamenting the fact that we weren't going to have this kind of privacy at the colony. "Are you staying here?"
He paused for a moment. "No, I will be going with you."
I was elated to hear that.
We trekked back to where the others were milling about. They were all in their own zones, concentrating on tasks or conversing with friends. It was a wondrous sight to behold because it meant that morale was actually up. They were moving on from the incident with Jared and me and the storm.
"Miss Cassandra." Walter walked by to greet me with a smile and nodded his head at David. "Welcome back."
"Thank you, Walter," I breathed, happy to see him as well. I would hug him if I wasn't worried that it would attract unwanted attention. "Everything is doing fine here?"
"Yes, indeed." He gestured to all the new structures that were in the process of being built.
Even though we didn't have any grain to harvest yet, it was still a good idea to have a silo prepared. The last thing we wanted was to waste any food because we were unprepared.
I walked by everything and saw that most of the infrastructures were not reinforced with concrete. Perfect… I was confident that if another storm came, we would be in good shape.
As a group of construction workers passed by, I excitedly complimented all of them for their hard work. They grinned back at me, just as enthusiastic to talk about their accomplishments.
I made a full round to everyone who was working diligently. Hopefully, I was able to gain some good relations with them because as it stood, I knew most of them just viewed me as the daughter of Peter Weyland who disappeared with her family all those years ago. I hadn't gained their respect yet and I needed it.
"Cassie! Cassie!"
I turned just in time to catch the little girl in my arms. "Hey, Clara. Where's your mother?"
She shrugged. "She went to this guy and I was bored, so I walked around and found you." She gave me a toothy grin that made me smile.
"Yeah? And what do you want to do?" I asked as she pondered thoughtfully.
"I don't know!" She threw her hands up and let out a string of giggles when I began to bounce her in my arms.
I took her over to a small playground where the other children were playing. When I set her down, she refused to let go. Her tiny arms wound tighter around my neck. "Clara, what's wrong?"
She shook her head and sniffed. "I don't wanna!"
"Why not? What's wrong, Clara?" I gently removed her arms from around me to look at her teary eyes.
Her bottom lips quivered. "They're mean to me!"
She was being bullied? I could feel a hint of anger rise. "What have they done, Clara?"
"They… They all laugh at me because I don't have a papa! I d-don't know who he is and… And… " She started bawling and the rage within me boiled over. How could children be so cruel? Were they not taught better? Where were their parents?!
"Stay here," I told her, storming over to the guardians who were all congregated by the slides. "Are you their parents?" I gestured to the brats that were already gathered together and pointing at Clara who was still sobbing where I left her.
"Yeah? What's it to you?" Keith narrowed his dark brown eyes at me.
Several others were also regarding me with a sneer as if I wasn't worthy of their presence.
"Do you see your children there? Do you think this is appropriate behaviour?" I clenched my hands from shaking. "Clara told me that she's being teased and made a pariah because she doesn't have a father!"
"Well, you can't argue that," Cathy mumbled to her husband.
I quickly turned my eyes on her. "Yes, she doesn't have a father, but do you not have any sympathy? Any human emotions? You think she deserves to be bullied because of something she can't control?"
"Hey! Don't speak to my wife like that!" Wilson growled, stepping in front of her. "Why don't you mind your own business? You're not even her mother! She doesn't even care. You're just a fucking whore!"
"Hey…" Khaleesi looked uncertainly at her friends.
"A whore? Is this what you teach your children? You belittle people you don't know or understand? You start calling them names?" I spat. "No wonder your children ended up like this."
A pale hand came flying my way, but I quickly caught the bony wrist and squeezed. Cathy let out a gasp of pain and tried to pull away, but I held on tight. "Listen here. If you don't want to be set back into stasis, you will stop this immediately. I don't care what you think of me, but these children are the future. You teach them to be little shits and I'll make sure their lives will be Hell, do you understand?"
"Don't fucking touch my wife!" Wilson charged at me and I pushed her into him. They both stumbled to the side, but managed to stay upright.
"Just because you are Weyland's daughter, you think you can tell us what to do?" Christa scowled. "He's long gone! Weyland is nothing, now! You are one person and we are the future. We are the ones with children. You're a childless slut who's luring men in and calling them rapists!"
Was that what they truly thought of me? I had no interest in their male population, not when I had David and Walter. I would just love to feed them to my child. It would be a feast for him.
Since coming here, I had been training him to hunt in the wild, but… Perhaps a treat now and then wouldn't be such a bad thing. Besides, their children seemed to need a lesson that losing a parent is nothing to laugh about.
"I don't care what you think about me because this has never been about me. It's about an innocent little girl who is being bullied because she doesn't have a father and none of you seem to be willing to teach some human decency into your children. Perhaps once the school is set up, we can finally form a civilised community here." With that, I scooped up Clara and walked away from the useless wastes of space.
"We don't need them," I mumbled to her. "There are more children around here and we'll find you a nice group of friends, okay?"
She rubbed her eyes, nodding silently.
How could anyone hate her? She was such a precious little girl. And her mother! Ever since I met them, they were always separated. I had to tell her about what was happening while she was doing who knew what. Clara needed proper care, especially because she didn't have a father. She didn't have another parent to rely on.
"Jeff! Jeff!" I called to the musician who was deeply engaged in another conversation.
He smiled at me when I came over. "Cassandra! How are you?"
"About to bash some heads, but other than that, I'm fine," I huffed.
The smile disappeared and a frown replaced it. "What's wrong? It isn't…"
"It's not him. I haven't seen him since that day," I lied. "It's those arrogant, prejudice, nasty pieces of work by the playground! Have you seen Joan?"
"No, I haven't seen her since this morning. What happened?" He beckoned for me to sit down on the wooden bench by his stone hut.
"I'll tell you later, but… I know there are other children around, have you seen any? Preferably someone decent?" I asked, looking around.
He chuckled. "Yeah, come on. I'll take you to my son. I'd like to think he's decent enough. Taught him myself!"
The young boy was sitting beneath a tree with a book in his lap. He was a few years older than Clara and I had a feeling that he could protect the young girl.
"Erik!" He waved his son over, but the boy ignored him.
I lifted an eyebrow.
Jeff shook his head. "Sorry. Once he has his head in another book, he's hard to reach. I swear he's a good kid."
"I trust you." I smiled, setting Clara on her feet. She looked up at me, her eyes still red from crying. "Let's go meet Erik together, okay? If you don't like him, we'll leave."
She shifted her eyes to the blonde boy before nodding.
"Erik! Boy, are you hard of hearing? Wait until you're my age!" Jeff continued to try to get his son's attention.
Erik sighed and finally looked up. "I heard you. I just didn't want to reply."
That made Jeff red in the face.
"Hi, Erik. I'm Cassandra," I greeted the boy, kneeling down and trying to bring Clara to the front, but she was clinging tightly to my back. "This is Clara."
Erik glanced at her. "Hi."
I nudged Clara and she let out a soft, "Hi."
"Do you like books?"
Clara's eyes immediately lit up. "Yeah! My mom used to read to me all the time, but…"
"Can you read?"
She sadly shook her head.
"I'll teach you. Sit down." Erik patted the grass beside him and when Clara plopped down by the boy, I knew that she was going to be just fine.
"I'll be just over there if you need me, Clara." I pointed to Jeff's hut, but she was no longer paying any attention to me. Her wide, excited eyes were on the small print and she was clinging on to Erik's every word.
Jeff and I sat on the bench, watching the children. "He's a good boy… He looks just like his mother."
"I've never seen your wife, are you…?"
"I'm a widow," he stated. "I lost her shortly before this mission. I ended up drinking a lot and lost my job. There wasn't anything left for me there, except my son, so I thought I could have a new beginning here." The breeze ruffled his short, ginger hair. "It's going to be a long and maybe hard road ahead here, but… I think I made the right decision."
"I'm glad…" This was also my new beginning. I had lost everything on the Prometheus and gained all that I could ever hope for.
