Kryptonian Nights 46

Supergirl is the property of DC comics and the CW. I am borrowing the characters for a little fun and storytelling. After All, what better way to show the love for hero's than to extend their adventures. Remember, all writers live off feedback.

Awake My Soul

"In these bodies we will live, in these bodies we will die. And where you invest your love is where you invest your life."

"Uff!" Supergirl exclaimed as her body hit the ground having been shot down with a ground to air missile. Pain flooded her system even as she attempted to shake off the impact. She watched them approach from the four sides.

"Surrender Supergirl! You will be treated humanely." Director Danvers and the DEO approached from her left side with guns drawn. Her sister, who once knew all her parts. Who was always in her corner, now against her or rather against Supergirl. Her memory wiped to protect Supergirl, only now to participate in her death. Kara pulled herself up to a kneeling position. Her hands bracing against the ground holding her steady. She could feel the blood flowing down the side of her face. The missile obviously had Kryptonite in it to help bring her down.

"Humanely, why should we treat the roach humanely!" Ben Lockwood growled out. Just in front of her, the Children of Liberty masked and armed with baseball bats, pipes, and chains. Lockwood, their leader had been released from prison by the President of the United States now stood before her unmasked with a deep smirk covering his face. They were ready to deal the Super a final blow.

'"Your time's up Supergirl! First that overbearing Boy Scout, Superman." Off to her right Lena Luthor and her brother, Lex, pardoned by the President. James stood with Lena. A betrayal that went deep in her. Lena's newest elite security with her armed with alien weapons and kryptonite bullets. Kara knew Lena wanted to reform the relationship with her brother. Lena's anger for Supergirl had pushed a wedge between her and her friend. The Super was sure she had been promised to them in some way. Strangely, Lillian had not been pardoned. She had attempted to reach out to Kara Danvers, but Kara had ignored her messages.

"Come on Supergirl. Time to give up." Cadmus's new leader, Senator Arnold, approached from behind. The Super took a deep breath feeling the blood flow inside her. She was bleeding internally. If Cadmus, Lena, the DEO, or the Children of Liberty got a hold of her she would be experimented on and dissected. Nia could not help her. Brainy could not help her either. There was really only one choice now anyway. She looked toward her sister. Once her protector, now her demise. She loved her sister. She knew this would destroy her when she recovered her memory.

"Alex." Supergirl said to Director Danvers causing her sister to look puzzled at the Girl of Steel. "Tell Eliza 'awake my soul'." Lena and everyone looked puzzled at Supergirl. Suddenly, there was a rumbling sound like a great roar coming from where Supergirl looked toward the ground. The earth shook as the last daughter of Krypton looked upward and shot into the sky. Before satellites could track her, before anyone could search for her, Supergirl was gone. The shock wave of her taking off threw them all off balance.

Seven months later…

"News reports from Washington are stating that President Baker has resigned after being implicated in a plan with Lex Luthor, the Children of Liberty, and Cadmus to genocide the aliens on the earth. Last night, the hacker, Dark Petrichor released across the internet and multimedia platform millions of pages of top secret and confidential papers from the current administration and leaders around the world with plans to genocide all aliens on earth. Included in the document dump were hours and hours of footage showing a great many leaders talking, agreeing, and involved in the destruction of not only aliens, but also multiple minority groups. Cries from the citizens of Earth and across the country here in America for the ouster and removal of all entities have caused chaos. Here in National City the head of LCorp spoke out against her brother. Lena Luthor made a statement earlier today saying she had been drugged and slowly removed from power from LCorp since the disappearance of Supergirl.

"This time has been extremely difficult. My brother, Lex, had been drugging me and removed me from the company. Even my former boyfriend, James Olsen, did not see the signs. His total buy in to Lex's ideas and statements has shaken me to the core. I cannot believe a man I thought as good and wholesome would want the death of Superman and Supergirl, let alone the entirety of multiple alien races on earth. I had built LCorp to be a force for good. Once again my brother, Lex, has taken LCorp and destroyed its mission. I have assumed control once more. The board purged this morning of those sympathetic to my brother's cause. Alien's are just like humans. There are good aliens and bad aliens. However, the good aliens out number the bad. We all have made earth our home. We must all, alien and human alike, strive to make it a better place."

"In further news National City FBI Director, Alex Danvers, has called for a coming together of the city after the removal of Assistant Director Colonel Haley for crimes against aliens."

"I know these are difficult times. I am asking the public at large. Alien and human to come together. Watch out for each other, report crimes against aliens and humans alike. We are good people. At times we may lose our way and let hate take control. Remember, for evil to take control; good men, good women only need to do nothing. We as good people have done nothing allowing evil to scare and push us into hiding. It is time to stand up for good. Good aliens. Good humans. It is time to root out hate and expose it to the light. Thank you." The camera follows as Director Danvers left the podium to shake the hand of a handsome African American man and to hug a young woman from CATCO.

"In other news, Russian premier, Alexei Romanov, disclosed today that the Red Daughter is not Supergirl…

"I do not know where Supergirl is or who Supergirl is, but the Red Daughter came to us two years ago out of the Siberian Night. Naked, lost, and with no memory of who she was or where she came from. She has since devoted her life to the motherland and support to aliens around the world who have been in need. Wherever Supergirl is we want her to know Red Daughter is here for her when she returns. We totally understand why she would leave earth. Wherever you are Supergirl, know that you are an inspiration to us all."

"Media Queen, Cat Grant, spoke today with CATCO reporter, Jamis Myling. Now Jamis Myling and Cat Grant."

"Cat, you have always been a major supporter of Supergirl even protesting her innocence during the attack on the White House which we now know was organized by Lex Luthor using Red Daughter as a fake Supergirl. How could you be so sure she was innocent?" Myling questioned the woman. The camera zoomed in on Cat's face taking in the seriousness and stubbornness.
"I will tell you now Myling that Supergirl has saved this world over and over again. She has sacrificed friends, family, and her own comfort to make sure we survived. How easy it is for everyone to forget Myriad and the Daxamite invasion. How people forget her disabling the nuclear Intercontinental ballistic missiles that almost hit the United States two years ago. Of the thousands of people she has saved. That's how I knew." Cat adamantly assured the interviewer and the world now.

"You saw the confrontation by her enemies when she disappeared from the world. Since then there has been no sight of her. Do you think she is alive? Do you know where she is? Myling asked, seeming a little desperate to see if the Media Queen knew.

"Yes, I believe she is alive. It's hard to kill Sueprgirl. She has shown over and over again that she will fight for what is right. That also means not giving up when it would be so easy too. As to your last question, no. I do not know where she is located. Just like you I have not seen her since that day on television when she disappeared from our world. But let me tell you that I wouldn't tell anyone where she was if I knew. She has been treated horribly after giving everything over and over for us." Cat argued back as multiple people cheered around National City in agreement.

"Do you believe Lena Luthor when she says she was drugged and mind controlled by her brother?

"Absolutely. I knew Lena Luthor before all this took place. She is one of the innocents swept up into this. Lex Luthor is a sociopathic, narcissistic evil man. He would kill his family to get what he wanted. So yes, I believe her. So should you as doctors have stated she had three different drugs in her body and a device removed from hre brain that would make her more malleable and obedient to him." Cat argued back to the reporter who had obviously not done her background work.

"Do you think Supergirl will return?" Myling asked of the Queen of all Media. Cat took a deep breath as she looked down at her hands. She was silent for a moment forming her words in her mind. She looked up and right into the camera forcing those watching to hold her eyes and listen.

"Would you return after being betrayed by the United States government over and over again? Would you want to rescue selfish, arrogant citizens who would stab you in the back after rescuing you from imminent death? Would you want to return after reporters, you Myling, questioned your purpose just months before? If I were Supergirl I would let you all burn in your own fire. I'd let you die for your lack of faith and ease of being persuaded she was evil when everything she has ever shown has been good." The reporter looked shocked as Cat Grant spoke. "Supergirl, if you are out there. I would tell you to stay away and enjoy your life without humanity's intrusive eyes. But I know you. We will await your return. You will always have a friend in me."

"In other news,...

MIdvale, the Danver's home, months later. Many months…

"You need to take up your mantle again. The world needs you now." Eliza said as she hugged her youngest daughter. Kara Danvers allowed Eliza to hug her as she stared out over the ocean. Kara was dressed in blue jeans, red high tops, a white t-shirt with a hoodie overtop. Her hair was down hiding scars on the side of her face. The Kryptonian shook her head as her metal braced arm shifted which caused her to grimace in pain. Eliza came around and sat in the chair opposite of her. Kara held out her arm as Eliza removed the metal bracing on the Kryptonians left arm. She set the bracer on the table and then took Kara's arm in her hands. She examined it from the shoulder down to the wrist. "You are healing well. Another month or so and the genetic changes should be complete as long as you get enough sun. The arm should be stronger than before you were injured. You should be completely healed by then. Are you still on that tropical island hiding away?" Kara nodded as Eliza rubbed some ointment into her arm. The Kryptonians' eyes fell closed as she rested safely in her mother's ministrations. "I wish you had come to me immediately after the missile. I could have helped you faster. There might have been less damage from Lex's formula. Even more we could have talked with Bruce. He might have been able to help." Eliza said as she replaced the metal bracer. Kara shook her head no as Eliza checked the cushioning at the joints making minor adjustments. Eliza double checked the elbow area worried she might have to change treatment there.

"It would have made you more of a target. What if someone had intercepted a message? As it was Lex's goons showed up here thinking I had sought shelter with you. No. Just look at what Alex had to endure even without her knowledge of who I was. I'm happy she has her memories now. I know she is due here later this week. Let her know I love her. Can you give this letter to her and this one to Lena?" Kara said as she placed both envelopes on the table and rose to leave. Eliza was quicker intercepting her before she could move but a couple of steps.

"You can't hide forever. Alex needs you to tell her everything is okay Kara. She needs to know you forgive her." Eliza said as she placed a hand on her shoulder. She needed to stall just a bit longer. "Your friends need you. Lena needs you." Kara shook her head as a soft sob escaped her lips. Memories of that day flashing before her eyes even as she placed her hand on the back of the chair. A loud crack was heard as her emotions got away from her for a moment causing her to lose control. "Hey. Easy Sweetie. Easy." Kara jerked her hand away from where Eliza covered it trying to get Kara to calm down.

"No, they don't Eliza. They need me to stay far away from them. Kara Danvers will continue to report from overseas and far away. Maybe she can die on a battlefield or in a foreign country where she is unknown and alone." Kara looked up at Eliza with tears falling down her face. Eliza's distraught look told Kara that her adoptive mother wasn't going to allow that to happen. "Because that's what it means to be the last daughter of Krypton. No one needs me. I brought danger to everyone. My friends abandoned me. This world tried to kill me and almost succeeded. No one needs Kara Danvers. No one needs Supergirl."

"You're wrong!" Eliza argued back fiercely as she pulled her younger daughter to her. She squeezed with all her might, afraid that if she were to let go Kara would disappear never to be seen again. "You have never run away. You have always faced them. I know it has hurt you, but you have never given up hope. I'm here. I will fight with you. Lena and Alex will fight with you, if you give them a chance." Eliza continued to argue vehemently against her young daughters views. "Why now? Why run now?" Kara looked at her earth mother allowing just a touch of pain to be seen in her eyes. "Kara, why didn't you say more? Why didn't you let me help sooner? You know I could have and would have in a second." Kara sighed deeply and sat down in the chair at the table. The fight going out of the Kryptonian.

"I'm tired of fighting alone. I'm tired of having to justify my existence to everyone including my sister. I am tired of being forced to share who I am and what I am because someone may get mad if they don't know. I'm tired of people sacrificing for me. I don't belong on earth. I don't fit in with my people on Argo. I'm lost. It's easier this way Eliza." Kara said as she tilted her head and watched the emotions flood across her earth mother's face. Eliza moved to kneel carefully in front of Kara.

"What does Alura say? Have you been talking with her daily like you were told to, to help get through this trauma?" Kara grimaced and nodded as she looked away. Her mother had argued with her repeatedly until she had finally shut down the communication device. The two Kryptonian Kalex's had watched over her without comment on her new home. Alura had tried to get through to her before she came to see Eliza, but Kara had blocked her out.

"She tells me the same as you. I need to move slowly back into my old life. Open up to Alex and then Lena. I need to take time to hear their side, speak to Brainy and Nia, and start reporting back here. She says I'm suffering from PTSD and depression like we thought. My Kryptonian physiology and mental properties do not allow for the medications that humans take to work. However, they are working on Argo to come up with something to help. She says that I need to be with people." Kara turned her face toward Eliza. "She said I should start here with you and work back into the Midvale home I once knew. I am not sure I can?" Eliza rose from the chair she had seated herself in while she waited for Kara to speak. She pulled Kara into a tight embrace. Eliza was determined to get Kara on the road to healing mentally, not just physically.

"You can do this. You're staying for dinner and to rest tonight." Eliza leaned back framing her daughters face when she went to argue. "No! No arguments. You've spent too much time alone at the Fortress and you spend too much time on that tropical island alone. Tonight, you will have dinner with me and rest. Come on." Eliza grabbed her good arm and pulled her to the couch. Kara was exhausted from the flight and arguing with Eliza. Two pillows were placed on the couch. Eliza helped Kara lay down to rest. She then tucked her in with one of the blankets from Grandma Danvers. Eliza sat on the edge of the couch and ran her fingers through Kara's hair as she hummed a soft low late afternoon sun filtered through the windows blinds shining down on the youngest Danvers warming her gently. It wasn't long before Kara's breathing evened out into a deep sleep. Nearby, the television played at a low volume even as a special report flashed red across the screen. Eliza looked up at the nearby television as it showed Lex Luthor being escorted back to prison shackled around the neck, hands, and legs..

"Young man you have a great deal to answer for in this life. Not just with the lives you've taken and harmed, but how you have attempted to destroy good solid relationships. I thought once maybe you could be redeemed, but I was wrong." Eliza shook her head as she heard the front door open. She shut off the television as Lena Luthor and Alex Danvers stepped into the room. They both looked toward the couch to see Kara resting. Both Alex and Lena seemed to relax once they saw her.

"Mom." Alex exclaimed softly as she moved forward to hug her mother. Lena walked over to the couch where Kara lay sleeping. She carefully reached out her fingers to run them over the reporters hair. It was then she noticed the metal brace on Kara's arm. Alex released her mother and then noticed the scars on her sister's face. "Mom, is she…"

"With rest, sun, and time she will recover physically. The scars might be permanent. We are not sure yet. However, Alura and I are more concerned about mental state." Alex looked sharply toward Eliza as her mother gazed down on her sister.. "Yes, Alura is working with me. She comes about once every two weeks. You sister was hurt deeply by Lex's missile." Lena looked up at Eliza. Fear and worry covered her features. "No Sweety, it's not your fault. Your brother is a master manipulator. Kara knew it would eventually come to this, though, she didn't expect so many groups to attack at once. Come into the kitchen and I'll explain." Eliza motioned to the nearby kitchen table.

"I'd like to stay here if it's okay with you Eliza." Lena replied softly as she continued to caress Kara's hair. The reporter seemed to know she was there as she moved closer. Even with all that had befallen them Kara's heart still sought out Lena. Eliza nodded pulling Alex with her as she started dinner. The attacks had come at a terrible time. Lena and Kara's relationship had moved into a deeply loving had declared their love for each other even though Lena had explained why she desperately had been trying to cure cancer. Kara had agreed she needed to find a cure for Lex. Lena had been taken by surprise at Kara's response. The support had been exactly what she needed. She had not expected Lex to be able to drug her or then use suggestions from an implant he had placed against her brain in the night. Kara had noticed a difference in Lena right away. The young Kryptonian had commented on it. Lena had brushed it off. Time had allowed for Lex to assert his control. Kara had never given up on Lena. Until that day they had shot her out of the sky. She had seen it then. The part of Kara that loved without measure seemed to die right in front of her. "I'm sorry Kara. I'm so sorry. I'll never be able to make it up to you. I love you so much Kara. Shhh, rest my love." Kara's eyes shot open seeing Lena. Her eyes went wide with fear remembering the day she had been cornered.

"No! No you can't be here. You can't be near me." Kara yelled even as she jumped away from Lena. Lena fell to the floor as Kara attempted to escape. She moved toward the door only to be tackled by Alex. The two sisters tussled on the floor as Kara desperately tried to escape. "No! Not again. I will not be trapped again. No." Kara yelled still believing the people around her were out to get her. Eliza rushed forward even as Lena backed away in shock. Alex took an elbow to her ribs as Kara's leg kicked out causing a lamp to crash to the floor.

"KARA! STOP! " Eliza yelled as she came to Alex's aid. The older sister held Kara's arms tight. Eliza knelt down quickly, grabbing both sides of Kara's head forcing Kara to see her. "Stop. Stop. They are not here to get you. They are not here to take you away. Listen Kara. Listen to me. Calm yourself…Shhhh, that's it. Come on. Easy! Easy! That's it. Slow, deep breaths." Eliza continued to minister to Kara. Eliza knew if Kara had been at full strength they would have not been able to contain her and most likely they would have all been injured. Kara's eyes fluttered shut as she tried to orient herself once more."That's it. Slow, easy breaths. Come on. Alex let her go." Alex released her sister and climbed off the floor. She held her ribs and limped over to where Lena leaned against the doorway shaking her head. "Slow and easy sweety. That's it. Come on. Open your eyes and look at me. Good, good girl. Do you feel you can stand up now?" Eliza inquired as she knelt on the floor working with her adopted daughter. Kara began to laugh softly. "What's so funny?"

"I think I broke my arm. The same arm from the day of the earthquake. God, why didn't I just let them kill me?" Kara said leaning back on the floor and closing her eyes again as tears leaked from her eyes. The weight of fear and pain made her want to fade into nothing. Lena and Alex blanched at Kara's words. They couldn't believe how fragmented their sister and friend was now.

"Because you are made of stronger stuff." Eliza argued back at her youngest daughter as she wiped the tears from the corner of her eyes. Eliza cupped her daughter's cheek reassuring her with a firm look as she knelt over her. Kara shook her head no.

"No, I'm made of stardust and hope. Nothing else is left anymore." Kara said as she attempted to rise off the floor. Lena and Alex held themselves back not sure if they would be reassuring to Kara or scare her more. Eliza helped her up carefully and led her to the table. She had Kara remove her shirt again so she could check her arm. Lena gasped when she saw the scarring and deep bruising that had not healed. Alex moved over looking at the scars that ran the length of her sister's neck down to the arm that was braced. Even Lena moved closer to see yellowish bruising down Kara's spine and over her kidneys.

"Well, I don't think you broke it. But it's pretty badly bruised now. I wish you'd stop injuring yourself." Eliza said as she reached behind her for a bottle of medication and a syringe. "You are at least here for the night. The damn island can wait." Eliza injected Kara's shoulder area with ease. "Your powers are probably gone right now. So you will have to wait till sunrise to restore them."

"What do you mean her powers are gone?" Lena and Alex asked at once. Kara kind of phased out too tired to explain.

"I'll explain during dinner. Help me get the table set for both of you. Kara. Hey, stay with me. Let's get some food into you. Okay?" The youngest Kryptonian nodded and took a seat at the far end of the table. Alex grimaced at how Kara isolated herself from them, but didn't say anything else. Once the food was on the table and it was set, Eliza served Kara. Then passed the bowls down the line as Lena and Alex took some. Kara finally started eating as Eliza explained how the missile Lex shot at Kara had affected her. Kara had been able to hide the worst of it when confronted on all sides at the time. But after her major push to escape she had fallen into a pain stupored sleep on an island in the Pacific for over two weeks. When she awoke she had attempted to fly and found herself powerless. She had fashioned a splint for her arm and then began a search for food. It had taken another three weeks until her power reserves were strong enough to make a trip to the fortress and have Kalex see how bad the damage was to her body. It was bad. While she had the power of flight, her freeze breath and laser vision were nonexistent. She had super speed but only for short bursts. After their use she would sleep for almost a day. It took so much energy to use them. She had just decided two months ago to contact Eliza. Eliza looked at her younger daughter. She had eaten what was in the bowl, but was falling asleep now. It wasn't near enough, but it would have to do until the high protein bars she had made arrived in shipment from the lab tomorrow.

"Excuse me." Eliza moved down to the end of the table. "Hey Sweety, come on. Let's get you into bed." Eliza helped Kara up and walked with her up the stairs. Alex and Lena watched them go.

"What are we going to do?" Lena asked Alex who had risen and moved over to the cabinet that held the whiskey inside of it. She pulled out the bottle and poured two glasses. She brought the bottle and glasses to the table.

"We are going to do whatever is necessary to bring her back to us. We are to blame for this. Whether of our own volition or not. We will have to take the time to rebuild our friendships and relationships with her." Alex said as she looked at the stairs her mother and sister had disappeared up. She knew this would take time. She didn't know if Kara could ever wear the mantle of Supergirl again. Eliza came back down the stairs.

"Lena could you go up and check on Kara's arm. I've given her something to help rest, but she seems to be in more pain than normal. I just want you to take a look that I didn't miss anything." Eliza said as she approached the table. Alex went to rise, but stopped when she saw her mother's signal.

"Of course, but you don't think that she will panic again." Lena said hesitantly even as she looked toward the stairs desperately wanting to be near Kara again.

"No, I think she will be fine Lena." Eliza said, giving her a side hug and pushing her toward the steps. "It's the second door on the right." She watched as Lena moved up the stairs and went to sit next to Alex. Alex got up and grabbed a glass for her mother. She poured her a double and set it down in front of her.

"I know. It was stupid. I should have never had my mind wiped. I should have quit and disappeared. I have let her down. I couldn't protect her. I would have killed her." Alex breathed out, angry at herself for what she had done when she hadn't known Kara was her sister. Eliza took a long draw on her whiskey and stayed silent for a while.

"Alex, I don't blame you. Kara doesn't blame you. You had no choice with what you knew. After J'onn removed the knowledge that she was Supergirl from your brain you were flying blind as they say. It's okay." Eliza said as she hugged Alex tightly. Alex let go of the tears and pain she had been holding inside.

"I should have protected her. I should have been there for her. I've always been there for her mom. Why then?" Alex choked out as she cried into her mother's shoulder.

"We're going to make this right Alex. We will get her back to where she needs to be. It's just going to take time. We need to be strong for her and honest. We will get her back to as normal as possible." Eliza assured Alex as she held her daughter. She looked toward the stairs and hoped all was going well up in Kara's room.

"Shhhh," Lena whispered as Kara whined in her sleep. She gently caressed her former lover's face. How was she going to fix this? How would Kara ever forgive her? She noticed Kara was sweating. She got up and went to the restroom. She found a pan and put some cool water in it. She grabbed a washcloth and returned to the bedroom. She set the pan on a chair nearby and wet the cloth. Slowly, but gently she wiped down Kara's face, neck, and arms. "I hope you can forgive me Kara. I love you so much. I made a mistake. I know that even with Lex drugging me and the implant you probably won't trust me. I'm just asking for a second chance, Kara." Lena bathed her love's neck. She leaned over to look at one of the wounds on Kara's face only to find her lips captured in a soft kiss. The kiss was brief, but helped reassure both women. Kara released Lena, trembling in her lover's arms.

"I'm scared. So much of my world has been shattered Lena." Kara whispered even as fearful eyes looked up at her former lover. "I feel so alone. I know we have a lot to talk about, but…

"But what?" Lena asked trying to figure out what Kara wanted, but had trouble asking for it even now. Kara looked away for a moment. She needed Lena. She needed her warmth and touch. She was so scared. She let out a shaky breath.

"...could you please stay with me. Just hold me." Lena looked at Kara for a long moment. She saw the battle behind those eyes she loved. A battle to trust once more. The CEO nodded letting her shoes drop to the floor. She moved across the room and removed her blouse and pencil skirt. She threw on a pair of sweatpants and a shirt that was on a nearby chair. Most likely put there by Eliza. Kara pulled back the covers as Lena crawled into the bed next to her. Lena kissed her softly.

"Kar.." Lena sobbed softly as the kiss was broken. The Super looked into Lena's eyes. It had taken a great deal of courage for her to kiss her former lover. She was still trembling as two memories of Lena fought in her mind for dominance. The one that Lex had corrupted and the one now before her.

"I'm not the woman you began dating. If you don't want to wait for me to get better, if I can ever become better, then you have to leave now Lena. Because I'm not sure how long it is going to take." Kara whispered to Lena who was now tucked in beside her. She opened her eyes working very hard to not see the memory from all those days as their relationship began to break apart from Lex's influence and that final day she was taken down by Lex's missile. Lena reached slowly forward to run her hands down Kara's jaw. There was a slight flinch, but Kara fought for control to prove to Lena that she still loved her.

"If you will have me. I'm kind of a broken person. Used by her family. The one person I trusted more than my life I betrayed. I'm not the best person to love." Lena conceded while she struggled not to break apart inside as Kara leaned forward touching her forehead to Lena's.

"I will take you. I will have you. Just don't leave me again Lena. Please." Kara said as she dropped her head down and burrowed into the space at Lena's neck. Lena held her close and closed her eyes.

"Your mine Kara. I'm not giving you up.I am going to fight to keep you at my side" Lena whispered as Kara slowly drifted off while Lena held her super girl. Lena laid next to Kara long into the night watching over her and making plans to prove her love.

Six Months later…

"Okay, we've set the red sun wristband Supergirl. The agents are all clear to come in. You just defend yourself and try to take them out. Understood." Agent Danvers came over Supergirl's comms.

"Understood." Supergirl readied herself. They had rented a warehouse for this scenario. So far Supergirl had done well with the fighting in the DEO rooms and such. There had been some small issues, but Alura had been there to help her work through them. Today, was going to be a little different. Only the most trusted agents were allowed to train with Supergirl right now. There were a few surprises planned to move Kara past her trauma. Alex just hoped it didn't backfire. Suddenly, the doors burst open from three different directions flooding agents into the warehouse. Supergirl was in rare form punching, kicking, doing a slide under several agents coming up behind them and taking them down. Another door opened that moment and Alex came through with another set of agents dressed as Children of Liberty. Kara stuttered to a halt. The image of Alex coming at her with the agents dressed as Children of Liberty sent her right back to the moment she fell from the sky from the missile and faced her worst nightmare. She never saw the stock of a rifle come up and strike her on the head. She dropped allowing the darkness to take her. Alex was at her side in seconds.

"Supergirl. Come on. Wake up." Alex tried to get her to come to, but she wasn't waking. "Stretcher. We need an evac on Supergirl now." Agents were rising off the floor from where the Super had laid them out. The young agent that had taken Supergirl down was looking at the floor as if he broke his favorite toy or lost his best friend.

Two days later…

"If you'd just listen to me. I expected it to happen, Supergirl. After what you've been through. It was expected you would have a flashback. It won't be the last one either, but they are controllable." Alex explained even as Alura, Eliza and J'onn stood nearby. Supergirl stood across the room staring out the window. She was dressed in a black workout outfit with an embroidered S over her heart. She had woken screaming and had almost thrown Dr. Hamilton and Alex through a wall. Lena had been delayed in her arrival which had caused more issues. Now a day later, she was trying to balance out what happened with the idea that maybe she shouldn't be Supergirl again.

"Can you guarantee it won't happen when you need me most?" Kara remarked as she watched a young boy be pulled back from the edge of the street down below. While her powers were back full force, her mind wouldn't let her do what she needed to do. Suddenly, she felt another presence behind her. She held herself in check recognizing the perfume and warmth. It was a hard won control after months of practice and meditation. Kara had accidently hit Lena once in one of her flashbacks. After that it had taken two weeks before Kara would even be near Lena. Lena wrapped her arms around Kara holding her tightly attempting to reassure her love. While things weren't back to normal with their relationship, it was better in ways than it had ever communicated and shared with each other more. It had gone a long way to knitting their relationship back together. Kara had learned Lena suffered as badly as she did from flashbacks and PTSD. Their extended family had become closer out of need and willingness to be there for them.

"No, we can't." Alura said as she spoke from where she sat at the table. "In fact I believe it could happen a great deal more often as you move forward with your training. Lena says that you are still having nightmares every few nights. You are also having trouble eating and you're feeling on edge at times. Especially when you are in a room with a lot of people." Kara tensed in Lena's arms frustrated that she had told them something they had spoken of in confidence.

"Please Kara, they needed to know. Please." Lena whispered in her love's ears. Kara placed her hands over Lena's getting ready to break the hold when she felt another hand on her shoulder.

"We won't leave you to fall. You are doing so well Kara. Don't give up. Please." Alex said gripping her shoulder. Alex ached for her sister deeply. There was no way to fix this, but go through it. Her sister would always have this problem, though with time and hard work it would lessen to the point of very few outbursts. "Please, don't stop because of this fall back." Kara dropped her head and shook it. She suddenly broke Lena's hold and rounded on Alex as her frustration got the better of her. Alex braced for what was to come.

"You think this is so damn easy! Not one of you in this room stood by me. Not one of you. Weeks, months of excruciating pain. No one to talk to because they would rather see you dead! They just want your body to dissect it, to tear it apart." Kara slammed her hand down on the conference table shattering the end off. She turned away quickly attempting to pull herself together. Alex took a risk, a big one. She stepped forward wrapping her arms around Kara. "I can't do this Alex. I can't be strong anymore."

"Yes, you can. I'm here. I'm sorry Kara. I'm here. I'm not leaving." Kara turned around in her sister's arms and held tight. She cried hard, deep heart wrenching sobs. Alex knew she'd have bruises in the morning, but it was a small price to pay for her sister. "You've got me Kara." Alex held on to her sister tightly as Lena joined them.

Four Months later…

"This is Charles Stanley with KNC1. Breaking news tonight, Lex Luthor has broken out of ADAX Prison. Federal and State authorities are currently investigating how Lex Luthor disappeared from the prison. Authorities believe he had assistance from people on the inside. You will remember that Lex Luthor was sentenced to five lifetimes in jail for the murder of two thousand of Metropolis citizens, the attempted murder of Superman, and over a four billion dollars in damage. We expect to hear from the President momentarily on this turn of events."

"Shit, Lena." Kara whispered as she glanced toward where Cat Grant was in her office. She nodded toward Kara who slipped out to warn Lena. She wasn't ready for this. She arrived at LCorp in seconds entering Lena's office from the balcony when her prints were confirmed through a biometric lock. Lena looked up from the desk smiling, happy that her girlfriend had decided to take a break to come to her. Lena rose, but caught the nervous fear in Kara's face as she approached.

"What's wrong?" Lena asked as she pulled Kara into her arms.

"Lex has escaped. I needed to make sure you were safe." Kara held Lena tightly fearing everything was falling apart. Lena wrapped her arms around her girlfriend reassuring her with everything she had that she was safe

"I'm safe. Stop worrying." Lena whispered as she ran her fingers in circles on Kara's back trying to calm her. Supergirl was trembling in Lena's arms. She couldn't have things go like they did before. She couldn't go through that again.

"But…" Kara began as Lena hushed her.

"El Mayarah. We do this together. I'm not leaving you. He will not get me again. Things are different. We live together now. Alex knows who you are. The Children of Liberty are locked up. Things are different Kara. We've installed the new security system." Lena assured her had spent months constructing new procedures and systems to combat if this situation actually happened. There was a knock on Lena's office doors. "Come in."

"Ms. Luthor. There is an Agent Danvers here to see does not have an appointment. She insists..." Jessica began as Alex pushed past her. Four other DEO agents were with her.

"Ms. Luthor, we have reason to believe you are in serious danger." Alex began when she noticed Supergirl holding Lena. Alex smiled in relief that Kara was there, but he could see the deep coil of worry in her sister's features. Supergirl was barely holding it together.

"What do you suggest, Agent Danvers?" Lena asked as she felt Kara release her. She turned to listen to Alex as Kara scanned the room. She then scanned LCorp floor by floor even to the sub basement.

"If you would be willing to accompany me, I think we can come up with a plan." Alex entreated the CEO. Lena turned to Kara. She knew Kara would not want to leave her. She just needed to make up a reason for her to follow her.

"Supergirl, I would feel safer if you accompanied me." Supergirl nodded and followed the agents out. Supergirl whispered to Jessica quickly who nodded her assent. She would not be caught off guard by Lex again.

Two months later…

"We are ten minutes out Supergirl. Hang on." Alex's voice came back to Kara as she took another punch from Lex in his Exo Suit. Lex Luthor, once more escaped from an inescapable prison. She had had enough of his escaping. She was going to finish this once and for all as soon as she knew Lena was safe as well as National City.

"You are pathetic Supergirl." Lex taunted her as she moved away from his next punch. "Your girlfriend will be dead soon, the people of National City will die, and you will be known as the loser you are."

"Supergirl, Lena Luthor is free and safe." Agent Vasquez came through the comms. Vasquez had been the lead in freeing her girlfriend. She had told Vasquez to come back with Lena or don't bother coming back at all. Without Lena, Kara couldn't function. Alura had identified a deep co-dependency between the two. Neither would break it, so they had found ways to live and work around when it became an impediment.

"I need to hear her voice Vasquez." Supergirl came back as she avoided another was getting harder and harder to fight back and avoid his punches with the kryptonite in his suit. Lena's voice shot through the comms like warm afternoon sun to the Super. It energized her.

"Supergirl, I'm okay. I love you. Now finish off Lex and get back here. I need you." Lena's voice echoed through the comms with a slight tremble. Kara lifted her head and her eyes glowed bluish white. Lex came at her with everything he had shooting kryptonite repeatedly. Kara let loose her heat vision hitting him dead center of the suit full blast until it exploded knocking Lex backwards. Kara watched him fall for a moment. She really just wanted to let him fall and hit the ground, but that wasn't her. She flew after him and hit him with her freeze breath encasing him in a block of ice. She caught the block and took off South.

"Supergirl, all bombs have been neutralized in National City. National City is safe." Agent Warrick came through the line as Supergirl took off toward the Fortress of Solitude.

"Affirmative Agent Warrick. Let Agent Danvers know Plan Epsilon is engaged." She'd had to rely on the DEO to release Lena and stop the bombs as she fought Lex. It had been so hard to trust Alex and follow her orders.

"Affirmative Supergirl." Agent Warrick's voice echoed back through the comms even as a soft voice confirmed Plan Epsilon.

"Kal, meet me at the Fortress." Kara called out into the night air. By the time Kara arrived at the Fortress Kal El was there. "I'm done with suffering from this one. I'm done with the humans not being able to hold him. Therefore, I am banishing him the Phantom Zone, but I am limiting his ability to move around. I am using a special coordinate holding area. He will be confined to one area. No others will be able to enter either." Ka El looked at Lex. While he understood Kara's thinking he wasn't sure that this was a good idea.

"Are you sure Kara? I want to be rid of him as much as anyone. But are you sure?" Kal El asked as he approached Kara. Kara pulled herself into her full height and turned to Superman.

"Kal, it's either this or I am taking him to Hells Asteroid. You choose." Kara vehemently argued back to her cousin. Superman looked at Lex. Hell Asteroid was where all intergalactic criminals were sent. It was an asteroid the size of Mars in a binary system. Lex would not be able to leave his section of the asteroid since that section would only be programmed with an Earth atmosphere. There were several aliens imprisoned there that would love to get a hold of him on top of it. There wouldn't be enough of Lex left to survive within a week. Superman nodded in agreement.

"Alright. He would never survive on Hells Asteroid." Superman walked away from Kara.

"Lex Luthor. You were sentenced to five lifetimes in a human prison. You chose not to follow that sentence and broke yourself out more than twice. Therefore, I am placing you in an unbreakable prison. You will serve out your sentence in the Phantom Zone." Kara Zor-El pronounced as Lex's eyes widened.

"You have no right to do this!" Lex argued even as Kara pulled up a hologram of the President of the United States.

"Lex Luthor, Supergirl has the authority to exile you to the Phantom Zone by order of the Judiciary Branch and me. May you spend your life times reflecting on your crimes against humanity and alien kind." The President pronounced as Kara hit Lex Luthor with the Phantom Zone beam. He faded from their view. "Thank you Supergirl.I apologize that we could not hold him and prevent him coming after you. Your assistance in this matter is appreciated." The President faded from view. Kara then moved over to the electronic counsel and imputed Lex's information. Many people thought that the Phantom Zone only held Fort Rozz at one point, but there was a small planetoid there too. Lex would have to fight for his food within his zone of restriction, but a person with his cunning should be able to survive. Since he was to spend five lifetimes in prison he would expire there. Kara would check on him in two hundred years. She stepped away from the counsel board as Kalex came into the room. Kal El stepped up next to her and pulled her into his arms.

"You are a much stronger person than I am. You are so amazing Kara. I love you cousin." Superman said as he hugged his cousin. Kara cried softly in his arms for a while.

Seven Months Later…

"You are officially seeing it live here on CATCO. CADMUS, the anti-alien organization has officially been taken down. The United States government in conjunction with the United Nations have officially destroyed the last known base. Here comes the President.

"Good Afternoon, ladies and gentlemen. I would like to inform you the CADMUS has been dismantled and no longer exists. Today, the US government will work in conjunction with other governments to protect aliens and humans alike. Congress has passed the twenty eighth amendment which allows for alien kind to receive all the freedoms and rights guaranteed to US citizens. Three fourths of the states have passed the amendment making it part of our Constitution. On top of that the United States signed on to the Human and Alien Rights clause of the United Nations. No longer will we allow our hatred to control the direction we move. We are one people, one world, one nation.

I would also like to take this time to talk about the new organization, AHC. The Alien Human Coalition will work together, alien and human alike, to protect the planet and create bridges between human and alien kind. I know there are many out there who think this is wrong. You must understand it is no longer just earth we deal with, it is interstellar worlds. Trillions of aliens on billions of worlds. We must learn to get along, protect ourselves, and prevent a future of strife.

God Bless America. And God Bless Earth.

"Well that's something." Lena said as Kara laid back in the chair shaking her head. They were on vacation in Bali. Lena had booked a private beach house with infinity pool. It was protected by a special security force of former DEO agents loyal to them both and military special forces who respected them.

"Yeah, the earth has come a long way." Kara whispered as she stared off into space. A shadow of the day she was attacked passing in front of her eyes. Lena moved in front of her, distracting her. The youngest Luthor was dressed in a black one piece swimsuit with a floral tunic unbuttoned. Lena straddled Kara in the chair and leaned down to kiss her. Kara pulled her in for a heated kiss until lack of oxygen forced Lena to break it.

"Don't go there. Don't slip into the past. We've worked hard for what we have now. You've retaken the ground you lost that day plus more. Leave the past in the past Kara." Lena urged her wife. Kara looked into the deep, forest green eyes seeing nothing but love and devotion. She had fought hard. She had fought to regain her ability to be Supergirl. She had fought to regain her ability to trust Lena, Alex and others. She had fought step, by step to control the anger and frustration. She had won. It had been slow with more tears and pain than she had ever suffered when Krypton had died, but she had won.

"Let's go for a walk on the beach. Just you and me. Mrs. Danvers." Kara whispered softly, kissing her wife once more. Yes, Lena was her wife. Married in a small, but beautiful ceremony in Eliza's backyard. Just their close friends and family.

"That sounds lovely, Mrs. Danvers." Lena rose helping Kara to her feet. They headed off toward the beach below. There wouldn't always be happiness and joy. But Lena and Kara were determined to work through any troubles in the future. Love would find a way together. El Mayarah.
