Well then... That happened. What happened? I don't know either. All I know is, I'm back and this story is back too.
The good news is, I got a new internet router. One that actually doesn't kick my wifi-connection out every 4 minutes. So that might make watching videos, and therefor writing fanfiction based on said video, fun again. (Legit I haven't watched a non buffering video in a good year, not fun)
Anyway! It's 3AM where I live, I have to wake up for work at 10AM, Imma cut this short.
Hope you enjoy, and sorry for the wait.
Disclaimer: I do not own Digimon Frontier or any of its characters. If I did, I wouldn't be writing this. I only own Sophia, Sonamon, Vibramon and any and all changes to the original plot as well as any characters that aren't listed on the digimon wiki page.
The digi-gang was taking a break on the steps of Toucan Paradise. They'd been looking for the Toucanmon for hours with no sign of them. After they'd followed the footprints to where the Ranamon merchandise had been dropped, they were at a loss. Not only that, but Koichi and Sophia had disappeared as well!
Koji had concluded the bird-brains must've flown off, leaving the gang clueless as to where to look. The most logical option had been Toucan Paradise, since that's where they'd last seen the Toucanmon, but of course that was too much to ask for.
'They probably have some secret hideout somewhere.' Takuya mussed, lying down on the bench. 'Or maybe this is their secret hideout and their real home is somewhere else completely…'
"Like Calmaramon…"
"Huh?!" That snapped Takuya out of his own thoughts and set him on high alert immediately. He jumped up into a sitting position and looked around for the danger. "Calmaramon? Where?"
Wait, why was no one else worried? Everyone stared at JP. Did he miss something? …Probably.
"I was wondering if you'd be scary like that. You know? Like when you got your Beast Spirit and all that…"
Zoe? Scary? What would that look like? Kazemon with like….really sharp teeth and razor claws sticking out her gloves? Actually, that's barely even scary!
"Stop that!" Zoe called out, snapping all the boys out of their thoughts. "I can't believe you would think something like that! I'm nothing like her!" She huffed as she crossed her arms and looked away. Really, those boys!
Naturally Neemon made the unfortunate mistake of commenting something unwanted, resulting in Zoe for a change snapping his pants.
Takuya stepped in, trying to defuse the situation before they actually got to see what a scary Zoe looked like. "He's not saying you're evil or anything. Just that Beast Spirits are hard to control."
"Yes remember what happened with Takuya?" Bokomon supplied, making Takuya wince a little.
'He just has to bring that up, doesn't he?'
Zoe released Neemon from her wrathful grip, walking back to her friends with an air of confidence. "I'll always be a cool and beautiful girl digimon. That I know."
"But, how?" Tommy questioned. After all, no one know what their Beast Spirit looks like before they get it… do they?
"'Cause I'm a girl!" Zoe struck a confident pose. "And girls know how to handle power when they need to."
This freaked out JP, Tommy and Neemon, who once again supplied them with a bad response. "Scary!"
They want scary? Alright…. She'll give them something to be scared of! "Knock it off!" Zoe screeched. "Having power does not make you scary!"
"Amen sister!"
A familiar voice called from the distance. The gang looked at the direction where it came from. There, running towards them, was a black lion digimon with Sophia on its back. It only took Koji one guess to know who that digimon was. Said digimon stopped in front of the group, kneeling to let Sophia slip off. It then was surrounded by data streams, turning back into Koichi.
The exhausted elder twin sank down to the ground against the water barrel. "Man. You guys were right. That Beast Spirit does take a lot out of you." he panted.
"Wow!" Tommy gasped. "You found your Beast Spirit?"
Takuya frowned in concern at the scrape Koichi had on his cheek. "Did you have trouble controlling it?"
Koichi, knowing Takuya's reason for asking, struggled with an answer. "Um… Well… I mean, yes a little."
"Don't worry Takuya. Barely any damage done." Sophia helped the poor boy out. "He was in control pretty quickly."
Seemingly satisfied with that answer, Takuya returned to brain storming. Where else could they look for the Toucanmon?
While Takuya did that, the others were more curious as to where Koichi and Sophia went of to. When the duo explained what happened, and about the pull Koichi felt, they understood. It's hard to ignore the pull that comes with your Spirit calling you, especially your Beast Spirit. It's happened to Koji, it happened to Takuya and it's sure to happen to everyone else.
"How did you manage to get control over your Beast Spirit exactly, young man?" Bokomon asked, practically ready with his book to write it down.
The one question Sophia was hoping they'd avoid as twin blushed spread over her and Koichi's face.
Luckily, they were spared the answer.
"Hey!" Everyone turned to Takuya, wondering why he'd yelled all of a sudden. "It's the Toucanmon!" He pointed to the sky where, indeed, the Toucanmon were flying away.
"Where are they going?" Tommy asked. They couldn't leave the island! They just couldn't! How were they gonna get the D-Tectors back if they fly away like that?
Sophia stepped forward. "They're going somewhere where they can sell the D-Tectors."
"What?!" "We have to stop them!" "They can't do that!"
"Guys look!" Tommy pointed. The others followed his gaze, seeing the Toucanmon landing on another island farther away. "They're landing over there."
"Right!" Takuya ran ahead. No time for a plan right now, they had to get there fast! "Don't let them get away! We can swim over!"
Zoe joined him in the run. "I'll race you there!" she said as their steps already started getting slower now that they were in the water.
Takuya barely had time to remember Tommy couldn't swim and turned around to tell him to stay, also noticing no one else was coming along, when he suddenly felt something around his leg. That something tripped him, making him taste seawater as he fell into the ocean. He quickly came up for air and looked at his foot, expecting some sort of log or seaweed around it. Instead he found some weird looking things...with claws? Were these paws?
Right as he asked himself that, the thing the paws were attached to rose from the water. Some...seal-like creature with an orange mohawk.
Takuya stared blankly at it. "What the heck is that?"
"That's Gomamon." The Gomamon answered.
"Well, whoever you are, let go of my foot, okay?" Takuya told it as he pulled it out of the Gomamon's grasp.
Gomamon didn't seem to mind too much. "Sorry, but we had to stop you guys."
'We?' The question was on the tip on Takuya's tongue, but before he could ask it more Gomamon popped up, answering his unasked question. They popped up from under water, all enthusiastically greeting the humans with a 'Hi'.
"Yeah, hi." Takuya greeted them back in slight annoyance. "What are these things anyway?"
Sophia rolled her eyes. "He just told you. They're Gomamon."
Bokomon took over the explanation, pulling his book from his waistband. "Gomamon are cute and curious, but if you get them mad they won't hesitate to attack. …But then again, what does around here?"
Huffing, Takuya went back to shore, Zoe and the Gomamon following him. Looks like they weren't gonna go to the island just yet. The Gomamon probably wouldn't have stopped them for no reason.
"So why did you stop them anyway?" Koji asked as they all walked ashore, meanwhile trying to ignore Zoe giggles while she cuddled one of the Gomamon.
The Gomamon that had grabbed Takuya answered. "We wouldn't be very good friends if we let you go out there." he told them. "The water looks so cuddly and inviting, but really it's very dangerous."
Takuya cocked his eyebrow curiously. It didn't seem very dangerous. "Um… What do you mean by dangerous, exactly?"
"Is there a dangerous digimon living in the ocean or something?" Koichi asked them.
The Gomamon shook their heads, and the warriors let out a sigh of relief. Thank God they weren't gonna need to fight some big bad digimon. "No, but just look." They did just that. "All that foam by the island is caused by a whole bunch of whirlpools."
Takuya gulped. "Whirlpools?" That wasn't good. He couldn't even see them from where he stood. How big were they? And how many exactly?
This was going to be a problem, wasn't it?
"Don't worry, we're safe here. But if you get too close, they'll suck you in and never spit you out." That didn't sound very reassuring. "And even if you could get passed them, you'd get slammed up against the cliffs that surround the only beach you can land on." Wait, there's a beach there? How did they know? "We know all about it because we used to live there." Oh, well that answers that question.
"So, is there some sort of secret way to get in there, or something?" Takuya asked them, picking up on the sad tone the digimon spoke in.
If possible, the Gomamon got even sadder. "No, I wish there were."
That's horrible. "You can't get home?" Zoe asked carefully.
"That's right." The downtrodden Gomamon sighed and explained everything to them. How everything was so wonderful. About the earthquake that happened when the small group left the island to play and gather food. "That's when the whirlpools started." he said. "We were cut off from our island and we haven't been able to get home since!"
Bokomon stepped forward with a theory. "I'd be willing to bet that the earthquake happened when the destruction of the digital world began." He sighed. Of course his influence also spread to here. "It seems there's no one Cherubimon's evil touch hasn't hurt…"
"Poor things…" Sophia sighed.
Koji, completely ignoring or oblivious to Gomamon's hurt expressions, asked them. "So you're saying there's no way to get across, huh?" That complicates things.
"Maybe we'll be able to find some kind of flying digimon who will take us to the island." JP suggested.
Takuya agreed that that was a good idea, even the Gomamon encouraged it. That settled it. They were going to look for a flying digimon to take them to the island.
While Takuya said goodbye to the Gomamon and thanked them for the help, Koichi was standing on the sidelines watching the whole thing.
Didn't it seem wrong to anyone that they would just leave the Gomamon like that? They obviously wanted to go home! It was clear by their voice, their faces, their eyes. That used to be them! Wanting to get home, but being unable to. The only reason they started looking for the Spirits in the first place was so they could find a way to go home! Sure, that changed, but that was still the case in the beginning!
A hand on his clenched fist snapped him out of his infuriated thoughts. Fingers rubbed against his knuckles until he unclenched his fist and took a deep breath. Getting mad wasn't going to help anyone.
"Have you calmed down now?"
Koichi nodded. "Yeah. Thanks, Sophia."
She smiled. "Don't worry. We won't leave them behind." she said. "Not if Zoe has anything to say about it."
Koichi was confused. That is until he heard Zoe speak. Apparently he had been stuck in his own head longer then he thought.
"Oh come on!" The Gomamon shrunk back a little from Zoe's tone of voice. "Are you trying to tell me you're not even a little sad? Watching all your friends from afar, not even being able to talk to them?" That hit the digimon hard. "Well, I don't buy it! Everyone gets sad without their friends!"
The remaining warriors winced a little, remembering the friends and/or family they'd left behind, unable to talk to or even see them. Tommy felt like he was back in the TV-Forest, calling out to his mom without her being able to hear it. Was that what the Gomamon felt like?
Man, they really messed up.
The happy facade of the Gomamon finally fell. "Yeah." one finally admitted. "We just try to ignore that 'cause otherwise we get all depressed…" Like now.
Well that's not what Zoe wanted, seeing all those sad and depressed faces. "Listen guys, I think I have a quick and simple solution to your problem." The Gomamon perked up in curiosity. "You're all gonna come with us!"
"Although I appreciate the sentiment, don't you think it might be a tad dangerous?" Bokomon asked the girl. They needed to think this over carefully, after all.
"Come on guys, we have to try!"
"We can't even help ourselves!" Koji snapped. "I mean, we don't even have our D-Tectors anymore. What good are we?!"
Sophia stepped up to Koji. "Did you forget that time you pummeled about 50 Pagumon with nothing more than a stick?" she asked him. "You were plenty good without Spirits then, why couldn't you be now?"
"Maybe because we're not dealing with little, bite-happy Pagumon anymore!" Koji responded.
"That's a great excuse if you wanna give up, but I'm not going to!" Zoe interrupted what was sure to become an argument. "Sure it's tough…but I believe we can do whatever we put our minds to." She turned back to the Gomamon, who were watching her in awe as she knelt down in front of them. "Come on you guys. Let's get you back to your friends, okay?"
The Gomamon were almost in tears. "After that speech I don't thing we could say no to you, even if we wanted to." The unofficial spokes-digimon choked, leaning into Zoe's touch.
"I hope it works…" Zoe murmured. The blonde quickly shook her head. No time to think like that! "If it doesn't, we'll make it work."
Takuya ans Koji shared a look. Talking in stares only, Takuya gestured to the Gomamon. With a sigh, Koji reluctantly relented.
Takuya smiled, stepping next to Zoe. "Zoe's right!" he exclaimed. "We can help each other out. We'll make it together!"
A small smile made its way onto Koji's face. "Even without our D-Tectors, I guess there's plenty we can do as a team." They have yet to discover what exactly they can do without their D-Tectors like this, but no time like the present to find out.
"You mean it? Really?" Zoe asked, almost in disbelief.
Tommy happily ran forward. "I can't swim well and I'm afraid of water, but count me in!"
JP shrugged, trying to play casually. "Hey, finding flying digimon is too much work anyway."
"And dangerous." Sophia said. "Imagine if Ranamon came back while we were flying. She'd knock us into those whirlpools!"
There was a beat of silence. They didn't think about that. Not to mention Ranamon wasn't their biggest problem, but instead her Beast Spirit now.
"I-it's decided then!" Bokomon called their attention back to helping the Gomamon. "…Finally…"
"Yeah, we're helping the Gomamon to get back home." Koichi chimed in.
Zoe teared up a little. "Guys…"
"Don't start crying, 'cause you know Tommy will just start crying." Takuya said in a lighthearted tone.
Chuckling JP added onto that. "Yeah and if he won't, I will."
Zoe let out a laugh in relief. They were going to help those digimon get back home! "Awesome!" She enjoyed the sound of Gomamon cheering behind her. "Then let's get to work everyone!"
So it was decided. They were going to built a boat to get a closer look at those whirlpools and try to find a path through it. If that didn't work, they'd find some way to make them stop. There had to be something causing the whirlpools after all. But that's future work, for now there was a boat to make.
Koji and Takuya were tasked with chopping down trees. There were big enough knives in the kitchen of Toucan Paradise to be able to chop trees. Huh, guess those bird-brains were good for something after all. When Takuya wasn't chopping them down, he was bringing the logs to a pile. From there Tommy, Bokomon and Neemon could bring those trees over to Koichi and Sophia, who would tie the logs together with some strong vines. Occasionally one of them would leave to gather more vines, or to help the Gomamon bring over the logs they found. Zoe found another use of Toucan Paradise, namely a large curtain that she could use as a sail.
All in all the work was evenly spread…with the exception of one. JP, who was originally asked to pile up the chopped down trees and help the Gomamon with their logs, was busy drawing in the sand.
Takuya passed by to put another tree on the pile when he saw him drawing. "JP, what are you doing?" he asked. He was a little peeved, seeing as he was doing JP's job.
"To make a good boat, you need a good plan." Was JP's response.
That seemed…reasonable? Takuya threw down the log to take a look at his plan. "So what do you got?" It was…way to complicated! How did JP expect them to make this?! "Great, JP. That should only take a few years to build."
"Nah." JP dismissed. "It's just like building a model ship, only bigger." He was so proud of himself.
Sophia rose an eyebrow as she walked back with a heap of vines in her arms. "Don't you have, like, pre-made, pre-cut pieces when you're making a model ship?" Sophia asked. "I don't think your logic works, JP. So please just gather the logs into a pile like we asked."
"Well, why don't you just fly over to the island to get the D-Tectors like I suggested?!" JP growled, just about enough of is work being criticized.
The brunette girl rolled her eyes. "Because we agreed it would be dangerous? This!" she gestured to the ocean. "-is Ranamon's territory. If she comes back while me or Zoe are flying, she could easily knock us or the D-Tectors into the whirlpools. And then we'll have bigger problems."
Not waiting for a response, she walked passed and to the half-built raft. She considered for a moment to walk over the drawing, but pushed the thought away. After all, she wouldn't like it if someone destroyed her drawings either.
It took some time, considering none of them ever built a boat before, but eventually they got there. A small raft with a palm-tree sail and a barrel especially made for Tommy. The fences of the Toucan Paradise were also used on the back of the raft as a sort of support. Now time to test it. The Gomamon pushed it slowly into the ocean and let go of it. Sure enough, it stayed afloat! The digimon, as well as the warriors cheered.
The goggle-headed leader jumped on board as soon as it was pushed back within range. "Here we go!"
The others followed him onto the raft. Tommy climbed into the barrel and Koji took the paddle. With the Gomamon swimming next to them, they left shore and were on their way to the island. It was a relatively quiet ride, aside from a bummed out JP complaining about how no one looked at his plans. Zoe enjoyed the ocean breeze, totally in her element.
Not long after they left the beach, the gang reached the first of the whirlpools. And boy what a sight it was.
The warrior of wind stared at it in disbelief. "So much for fun…"
"The Gomamon sure weren't kidding, huh?" Koji felt just a twinge of nervousness at the sight of the massive whirlpools.
JP agreed in a fearful tone. "They said it was bad, not horrible!"
Bokomon looked at the water, trying to see as deep as he could. "There must be something at the bottom of the sea that's causing all this."
"Well, maybe we can find it and fix it." Takuya suggested.
"And how? We didn't exactly bring any scuba gear." Sophia reminded him. 'Not that Toucan Paradise had any…'
Before Takuya or anyone could even think of an answer, they were suddenly surprised by a huge tidal wave! The group quickly found something to hold onto, Sophia grabbing Tommy's hand just in case and held their breath. It was the only thing they could do.
The wave crashed over them. The Gomamon quickly sprung into action. They weren't exactly water-breathing digimon, but they could hold their breath longer than the humans. So taking a deep breath, they dove down and started pushing the raft back to the surface. It breached the surface and stayed afloat again, thankfully.
The gang barely had any time to catch their breath before the next thing happened. Two familiar pillars of water shot out of the ocean.
A third one rose shortly after, this one with Ranamon standing on top. "Hi there, kiddy pies~!" she waved.
"Oh man!"
"Great! Now what do we do?" Takuya fretted. They were sitting ducks out here!
"Well, if y'all have any last wishes, now would be the perfect time to made 'em. Don'cha think?" Ranamon suggested sweetly.
"In that case, I wish you would go away." Sophia called out in a fright.
Ranamon's sweet smile turned into a nasty smirk, but her eyes were more trained on Zoe. To her knowledge, she was the only one with her D-Tector and thus, the only one with her Spirits. The blonde was her firs priority. Imagine Lord Cherubimon's face when Ranamon brings him the Spirit of wind. She could always finish them later when they were all helpless.
And it looked like the girl took the bait. She stepped forward, D-Tector in hand and ready to Spirit-evolve.
Although, JP had some different thoughts about it. "Don't do it Zoe!" he warned. "Don't you remember? You were no match for her last time!"
Zoe groaned in agitation. Why were they always saying that? So she lost once! Who cares?! She can learn from it and get stronger! "For Pete's sake!" 'Stop underestimating me!' "Am I the only one here with even a pinch of optimism?!"
"But Zoe-" Takuya tried to argue, but was prompty shut up by Zoe herself.
"Don't 'But Zoe' me!" she told him off. "Just figure out how to stop the whirlpools while I hold her off!" She gripped her D-Tector tighter. "Hope this works…"
"EXECUTE! SPIRIT EVOLUTION! …KAZEMON!"
Sophia and Koichi grabbed their own D-Tectors. "We'll help too!"
Data streams already surrounded their hands by the time Ranamon caught on. There were two more brats with their Spirits?! That could spell trouble. She quickly sprouted another waterspout and hurled it at the duo. It hit dead on, knocking them both off the raft.
"Koichi!" Koji yelled in a panic. Luckily his brother, as well as Sophia resurfaced quickly.
Unfortunately they were a little too close within the whirlpools' range. The two of them slowly got sucked closer. The Gomamon jumped into action, swimming towards them and pushing them to swim faster. When they came within reach of the raft, Koji held out the paddle, which Koichi grabbed onto. The elder twin took Sophia's hand, while Takuya helped Koji pull them in. Soon enough both of them were safe again.
"Let's both agree to never get that close to a whirlpool ever again." Sophia panted.
Koichi nodded. "Agreed."
That worried the others on the raft. The duo wasn't even that close to the whirlpools. Just how strong was their pull?
"DRAININ' RAIN!"
Takuya's eyes widened when he heard that attack. The others had heard it too and quickly turned to look at the fight. Takuya, JP and Tommy shuddered at the sight of the dark clouds. They still remembered the feeling of having all their strength and energy drained. It was not fun… And… And it was about to happen to Zoe. Zoe, who was flying above an ocean with strong whirlpools…
Too late. The draining rain hit its target. It sapped Kazemon's strength to even stay flying. She fell fast…right into a whirlpool. Dead-center.
"Zoe, no!" "Zoe!" Takuya and JP's cries rang.
They dropped to their knees, looking in the water for even the smallest sign of Zoe, all whilst calling her name. JP was ready to jump in and look for her from under water, Koji held him back luckily.
"It can't be…" Bokomon uttered. This couldn't be real. It just couldn't!
"What a bother." Ranamon's enraging voice sounded. They looked at her, only to see her relaxing on that dumb waterspout. "And here I thought I'd get a chance to test out mah Beast Spirit. It's really not fair…"
"You're toast, lady!" Takuya growled.
The water warrior just casually stood up and stretched a little. "Thanks, but Ah already had mah breakfast." She turned around to face them with a fake sweet smile. "Hey, maybe Ah can test out mah Beast Spirit on y'all~!"
"How about I give you a taste of my Beast Spirit?!" Sophia growled, reaching for her D-Tector…which wasn't in its pocket! She searched her other pockets, maybe she misplaced it.
Oh no… She remembered… That wave! She and Koichi had the D-Tectors in their hand when Ranamon hit them, and they were empty when Takuya and Koji pulled them back on board. Her Spirits, and most likely Koichi's too, were at the bottom of the sea!
Koichi must've had the same thought process as he stared back at her with the same horrified look.
Shit…
"Hey, look! The whirlpool's going away!" Tommy called out, pointing at the slowly calming waters.
Within just a few seconds, the whirlpool invested ocean was completely calm. There was no sign there had ever been whirlpools, not even a few waves.
It also caught Ranamon's attention. Who undid her hard work? "Now how in the world did that happen?" She was caught off guard by a sudden pillar of water burst from the ocean. One that wasn't her doing. "What is going on?!"
Bokomon caught onto the fact that this wasn't Ranamon's work. Who else could it be? Unless… "Oh my… Could it be?" Dared he hope?
Sure enough, when the water split apart in a burst of wind, Zoe was right in the middle of it. And flying…somehow.
"It could!" "It's Zoe!" "She's okay!"
"Yes, I'm back." Zoe announced. The wind her Beast Spirit provided to help her back to the surface kept her in the air. About time to let the eager warrior come out to play, isn't it? "And I brought a little friend!"
"EXECUTE! BEAST SPIRIT EVOLUTION! …ZEPHYRMON!"
Zephyrmon was… Wow, she was pretty. JP had nothing to be worried about.
"Wow, who is that?" Takuya was impressed by the digimon.
And so was Bokomon. "That's Zephyrmon! Legendary warrior of wind!"
Said warrior just casually hovered in front of Ranamon, enjoying the jealous inspection she got from the water witch. "You're pretty! Your Beast Spirit made you pretty!" Oh she was so jealous! Ranamon tried and failed to catch herself. "Well, of course it's not like you're prettier then me. I mean, that's not even possible!" Wait for it… "But just because you are prettier than me doesn't mean anything, you got it?!" There it was~ "Do you have adoring fans all over the world who worship you? I don't think so!"
Okay, as fun as this was, it's time to get to back to business. "You know something? For a legendary warrior of water, you sure give off a lot of hot air." Okay, after one snipe that is.
Much to Zephyrmon's enjoyment, Ranamon was pissed. "That does it!" she growled. "You're going down, sugah!" As Ranamon did a srange looking dance, dark energy gathered in her palm. When it was deemed enough, she shot it at Zephyrmon. "DARK VAPOR!"
Dark, acidic clouds surrounded Zephyrmon, who up until now still hadn't moved from her spot in the air. She just stared, unimpressed by the little display of mist.
Ranamon must've thought it some real effective move. "You're in for in now, girly. That haze will melt anythin'!" Ah, so it was haze. That was easily fixed. Zephyrmon simply controlled the winds to keep the haze from touching her. Wind easily carries away haze after all. "Have your feathers started moltin' yet?" The water warrior still thought she had the upper hand, when she suddenly noticed Zephyrmon was completely unharmed. "Wait a minute! How come you're not moltin'?!"
Alright, playtime is over. Zephyrmon let the wind carry away the haze further until it had completely disappeared. 'My turn.' "I think its time you leaned a little respect!" Red orbs enveloped her hands and feet...paws? Anyway! "PLASMA PAWS!"
The wind warrior headed straight for Ranamon, ready to hit her dead-on. Unfortunately the evil warrior raised her water pillar to dodge the attack. No matter. Zephyrmon went straight through the spout, destroying it and causing Ranamon to fall into the ocean.
Everyone on the raft released the breath they'd been holding. Zoe wasn't going on a rampage! That left only one thing to do… Cheer!
"Alright!" "I'll say!" "She's controlling her Spirit!" "She's amazing! Isn't she, JP?"
Oddly enough, JP didn't reply. Tommy looked away from the fight to see if JP was okay. What he found was…something that should have been expected and he didn't understand why he didn't think of it immediately.
JP was drooling at the sight of Zephyrmon. He must be really glad she didn't turn out like Calmaramon, huh? "Boy howdy!" Yup… Reeeaaal glad.
Someone who wasn't real glad was Ranamon when she got her head back above water. "Alright, that's it! No more pussy footin' around!" Data streams covered her. "RANAMON! SLIDE EVOLUTION! …CALMARAMON!"
The ugliest warrior ever jumped out of the ocean, cackling all the way. "Let the party begin!" She'd show them! Now that she had full control over her Beast Spirit, there was nothing that could stop her! Not even this dumb, pretty warrior of wind.
"Zoe! Get away!" JP exclaimed, fearful for his crush- his friend! Hehe…
"Kick her ass Zephyrmon!" Sophia encouraged, earning her a disbelieving glare from JP. "What? She's gonna fight either way, might as well be encouraging."
"ACID INK!" Calmaramon's more humanoid chest bloated up completely, filling with ink which she then spat towards Zephyrmon.
Luckily, the smaller warrior was too fast and dodged the attack with ease. Calmaramon tried again, this time managing to hit a rock instead. The warriors, both transformed and human, watched as the rock disintegrated where it was hit.
That gave the witch an idea. If she couldn't hit Zephyrmon when she shot at her, then she would hit her by shooting at those puny friends instead! "That's what'll happen to your friends!" She chuckled. "Ready kids?"
Like Calmaramon expected, Zephyrmon jumped in front of her puny friends to protect them. How predictable, jumping in front of the defenseless like some sort of hero. That's exactly why you should never bother with friends.
No matter. Her plan worked. The little brat was hit by her ink and it ate away at her wing. "Aw, what's the matter, little girl? Did Ah burn y'all up?" Oh, how she enjoyed that gasp of pain. How about a few more?
The ugly warrior spat more and more acid ink's at the defenseless humans, forcing Zephyrmon to protect them and slash through her ink. The winged warrior was so focused on protecting her friends from the acid, she didn't notice the tentacle coming right at her until it was too late. Before she knew it, Calmaramon had wrapped one of her tentacles tightly around her.
"I'm just too good!" she cackled as she tightened her tentacle, trying to squeeze every last breath out of the poor excuse of a warrior.
"That witch!" Takuya growled.
Tommy watched on in horror. "It's awful! We can't do anything!" 'I want Kumamon back…'
"Stop it! Let her go, you scum queen!" "Yeah, you ugly fish head!"
"What?!" Calmaramon screeched. She turned her ead to look at JP, who'd had the last word. "What did you say?!"
'Oh crap, oh crap, oh crap, oh crap!' That was all that went through JP's head as he backed off and grabbed onto the palmtree-mast. No way this wasn't gonna result in another tidal wave!
And Koji made it even worse! "You heard him!" NO! Why would he say that?! But Koji had a plan. Obviously insults had a distracting effect on Calmaramon. As a digimon obsessed with beauty, she seemed to not take name-calling well at all, which they can use to their advantage. "If we call her names and distract her, maybe Zephyrmon can escape." he whispered a simplified version to the others.
Takuya didn't seem very sure of it, but at this point it was better than doing nothing. "Hey, you slimy, dateless wonder!"
"You big coward!"
"If there was a beauty contest between you and a Sukamon, the Sukamon would win hands down!"
Koichi looked on as the others yelled insults. He didn't really know what to do or say here. Being pretty non-confrontational, he never really had called someone names. Should he think of something? Even the Gomamon had joined in!
"U-umm… You will lose your entire fanbase when they see that ugly head of yours!" He eventually decided to call out.
"Holy… That was brutal!" Sophia laughed.
And it was the last drop too. "Can it!" Calmaramon screeched. "You are so dead!"
Now distracted by the human warriors, she accidentally let her tentacle slack a little, which allowed Zephyrmon to escape her grasp. Calmaramon felt her escape and quickly realized what had happened. Curse those kids!
"HURRICANE GALE!"
Zephyrmon's attack hit right on target. The sharp blades hit the huge warrior relentlessly as the wind blew her backwards. Finally the wind got too strong for the water witch and she lost her balance, falling right back into the ocean.
"That's for picking on my friends." Zephyrmon told the fallen digimon.
"And go tell your friends they'll get more of that if they mess with us!" Takuya shouted tauntingly as the corrupt warrior struggled to climb up her own tentacles.
The moment she managed to gain back her balance, she turned around with a growl. "Now you're gonna get it!"
Her face was completely smeared with washed-off make-up. Apparently being a water digimon didn't mean you got water-proof make-up. Tommy, JP and Takuya screamed in fright at the sight of an even uglier Calmaramon.
"That's the scariest thing yet!"
Apparently Tommy's last comment was the absolute last straw. "Be quiet!" she screeched. "You brats are in for a heaping helping of pain!" She jumped into the air in a familiar position. Oh geez. "TITANIC TEMPEST!"
Zephyrmon quickly flew back to her friends, ready to get the raft out of there at a moments notice. But it seemed it wasn't even necessary. Like before, Calmaramon had no control over her Beast Spirit and just spun around aimlessly and randomly, until she finally disappeared out of sight.
'Team Rocket's blasting off again!' Sophia chuckled.
"What was that?" JP wondered. Calmaramon was in full control earlier. What happened?
Zephyrmon shrugged casually. "I guess someone can't protect her Beast Spirit yet." she said. "Now, let's get everybody back to that island."
Seeing as the sail was broken off in the tidal wave, Zephyrmon instead grabbed the mast, while the Gomamon grabbed the back and sides of the raft. Together they started pushing it towards the island.
Before they had even fully reached it, the Gomamon let go of the raft to finally go say hello to their friends. It was a beautiful sight to see all those Gomamon reunited, hugging and playing, some even nuzzling with each other. They'd really missed each other.
Zephyrmon pushed the raft onto the shore and finally de-Spirit evolved, taking a breather on the beach. The boys sure weren't kidding when they said a Beast Spirit takes a lot out of you.
"They're sure happy." Neemon made the astounded observation.
Though, Bokomon had to agree, this once. "And it's all thanks to you Zoe. If you didn't have the courage to stand up to Ranamon, none of this would be possible."
"Thanks." The blonde was glad to hear that.
"My pleasure."
Though there was one thing that was still very curious. "Hey Zoe, how were you able to control your Beast Spirit so fast?"
Until Takuya asked that question, Zoe hadn't even though of that. She'd been so laser focused on protecting her friends, that it didn't occur to her that she was in full control. "Well, just luck, I guess?"
"Not 'cause you're a girl?" Tommy teased, using her own words against her.
"Well, maybe…" After all, there were two girls in the group, and both had no trouble controlling their Beast Spirits. But it's much more fun to tease right back~. "But I won't tell~. A girl has to have…secrets~~!"
Takuya just stared with a deadpanned expression when she blew that kiss. "You feel as sick as I do right now?" he asked Tommy.
"No, I'm sicker…"
That backfired… "Guys…" Zoe whined a little.
"Me too!" Neemon unhelpfully supplied.
"Knock it off!"
Koichi and Sophia watch all of it unfold from their spot on the beach. "They sure seem to be having fun." Koichi voiced.
Sophia nodded. "Yeah, unlike us…"
Since the two of them had lost their D-Tectors in the ocean, the two of them had to wait by the seashore to get them back. A group of Gomamon had volunteered to go search for them, and they hadn't returned yet. Koichi had offered to wait by the seashore, so the Gomamon could easily find them. It was boring… So they relied on their friends for entertainment.
"Look at Koji blush. D'aww~!" Sophia teased the poor boy. "Hey Koichi… Didn't you want to tell me something earlier? Before the whole stolen D-Tector situation?" She vaguely remembered him pulling her aside to tell her something, but he never got to say it.
Koichi's eyes widened. "I completely forgot about that!"
"Eh, it happens." Sophia brushed it off. "So, what was it?"
Now Koichi looked uncomfortable. Was it that bad? "Someone called me on my D-Tector while we were riding on (read: in) Whamon." Sophia's eyes widened. The other warrior? "She wanted to talk to you, but you were… you know."
"Wait, why would she want to talk to me?" Sophia wondered.
"That's the thing." Koichi trailed off a little. "It- umm… She said her name was Rosalie… Rosalie Daneven."
Sophia's heart just about stopped. "Re-repeat that, please?"
"It's your sister, isn't it?" Koichi's suspicions were pretty much confirmed.
"Nononononononononononono… No. Just… Just no!" Sophia was pacing back and forth. "You… You are not telling me that my little sister is here. No!" her head snapped back to Koichi. "Is she okay at least?"
Koichi nodded. "She said she was okay. Except…" She needed to know. Sorry Rosalie. "Except she lost her Spirits."
"What?!" Sophia's shrill scream got the attention of the other warriors as well. The brunette quickly made her way to Zoe. "Zoe, can I borrow your D-Tector? I need to make a call."
Zoe, knowing about the call she got back in the cave, and seeing the worry in the other's eyes, handed it over. Sophia frantically pressed the right buttons and waited. The boys also gathered around them, curious as to what was going on.
Sophia barely noticed. All her focus was on the D-Tector and her sister. Soon enough the green symbol of the twelfth warrior appeared "Rosalie?" No answer. "Rosalie?" A little more worried, yet still no answer. Was she sleeping? Time for a wake-up call. "ROSALIE!" Still nothing. The symbol was clearly there. What was going on? "Rose, please answer."
Suddenly there was shuffling noises coming from the D-Tector. "I'm here, I'm here…" There was a little pause. "Sophia?"
"Rose! Oh thank god." Relief went through her like a flood wave. "Where are you? Are you okay? How did you end up in the digital world?!" And gone relief.
"I'm fine, Soph! Calm down." There was a sigh. "I'm somewhere called Trail Race Town? I was at a Burgermon Village before, though. As for how I got here... I got a message on my phone, followed instructions from a mysterious voice and ended up here- and that just sounded incredibly stupid..."
Sophia laughed. Thank her lucky stars… If Rose could be like that, then she was okay. "Yeah, following a mysterious voice does sound stupid... But it happened to us too, so it's not like I don't believe you." There was only one small detail she needed to know. "Are you sure you're okay? Koichi told me you lost your Spirits."
Ignoring the shocked looks of her fellow warriors, she listened to what her sister had to say. "Traitor…" She nearly snorted. "I'm sure. I'm sure. I've had help. But where are you guys? I'll come to you."
"No! No, I mean…" she glanced around really quickly. It seemed the others had left her alone somewhere between finding out there was a Spirit-less warrior and the concerned-sister-talk. Thanking them for the privacy, she turned back to the D-Tector. "We're about to move around again. We're still discussing what exactly we should do." Not exactly a lie. She could see Takuya, Koji, Zoe and JP discussing something a little away from her. "But… Can you get to the Autumn Leaf Fair? We're headed there."
There was a short silence before Rose spoke again. "Right. I'm sure I can find a Trailmon and head over there."
Sophia nodded. "Great. Though, be careful. There are a bunch of evil digimon out there-"
She was cut off by her sister. "I know… How do you think I lost my Spirits?"
The elder sister winced, knowing what it feels like to be without your Spirits now. "Sorry... I just don't want you to get hurt… I'll see you there, okay? Be careful."
"You said that already, but I will. See you there."
"Right." Suppose that's the end of that conversation. Err… "Ho- How do you hang up a D-Tector…?" Sophia fumbled a bit with the buttons. "Maybe..No."
Finally the symbol disappeared. She had no idea which button she pressed, but it worked.
The ponytailed girl took a deep breath, trying to calm her shot nerves. Her sister… Her younger sister was in the digital world, with no protection! They'd better make it to the Autumn Leaf Fair quick.
I hope I did Ranamon's accent alright. I'm not used to writing accents.
See you in the next part~!
