Summary/disclaimer: Time for another chapter of Spark of War. Enjoy the 900-word chapter. I don't own Avatar, Nick, Michael Dante DiMartino, and Bryan Konietzko do.
Hao grunted as he thought about what happened next. He sighed and shook his head before listening to his soldiers, curious as to how the fight had gone.
"Sir, we found you on the battlefield!" One of his soldiers reported as he groaned and slowly sat up. "We've also reported the Earth Kingdom forces retreated to a more secure position." The soldier added to which Hao could only roll his eyes while shaking his head and then started to look around.
"Did we get any good news from that at all?" Hao questioned, causing him to look up from the cot he was on.
"Well, uh…" Hao heard before he looked at the soldier closer. "Your Hawk got a few letters from someone." The soldier reported as he turned towards the radio.
He knew only one person who'd contact him like this over Razor Beak. It was her, it had to be her. That led to a LOT of questions in the back of his mind, but he decided to answer them later on.
"Go and reinforce the frontlines," Hao ordered, curious as to what had happened while he was tired at the end of the day.
He watched Razor Beak fly in, landing atop his roost in front of him. Hao looked at his friend with a smile as he gently patted the animal atop the head a moment later.
"Hey, buddy," Hao said, sitting up as he shook his head and started to pet him, running his fingers over the animal's head. "You got some letters from Ty for me?" Hao asked, patting the creature atop the head once more.
He turned, exposing the letters on his side to his owner. Hao was quite amused to see these letters, most of which seemed to be from Ty Lee. He knew for a fact that things were going to be slowly building up sooner or later. Still? That didn't help him when he thought about it.
"Go get some food, bud. You deserve it." Hao stated, dismissing the bird who left to handle some important things like bothering the other staff across the base.
Hao unfurled his scroll, he hummed as he began to read it, there were 6 scrolls, half of which belonged to the military, half of which belonged to Ty Lee. He focused on Ty Lee's first. He didn't care much for the nauseant military officers who didn't seem to care about him or anything like that.
'Hey, Hao! I don't want to bug you! I know how you are, always fighting on the battlefield against the rest of the military and stuff. I heard when it comes down to it? You're planning on coming back to the circus. Anyway? Since I know you love talking with me when you can? I sent 2 other letters; this one has tickets to our next show. The others are just talking… Anyway, keep your aura bright!' Hao thought to himself as he read the letter.
A pair of tickets were pressed and folded onto the piece of paper, making Hao chuckled as he shook his head once more, smiling when it came to it? he knew more for a fact that her letters would be coming more frequently when he thought about it. Razor Beak often went to get Ty Lee's letters first, meaning he'd be talking to her majorly.
Hao sighed and sat down, pulling out a letter and starting to write a response. He was brought out of his thoughts by Razor Beak emerging behind him onto her perch. She turned to look towards the fire bender who was quite curious as to happenings from his pet.
"I thought I said you should get some food, buddy," Hao said, resting a hand behind him as he rubbed at his temples.
This was going to be a long day. One filled with a lot of pain, but that was just part of being a general. He should remember he had plenty of duties to attend to, plenty of work to be done, and such.
"Skree…" Razor Beak stated as he shook his head and then started to think about what happened. "Skaw…" Razor Beak added which caused Hao to roll his eyes, patting the bird atop its head.
It looked at the firebending general, nudging him playfully as he thought about his next move. He needed to think about it, the Earthbending army wouldn't wait and allow him to simply plot against them, it would be easier when things happened at the end of the day.
Hao could only really think what this next mission would be. Hao was continuing to write, his pen moving the paper while he thought about what his words would be.
He cracked a smile once more, there were plenty of things to tell Ty Lee and only so little time to do it.
