Chapter 2: a great friend

It was a warm Autumn day as pinkie stepped out onto her balcony. She inhaled the sweet maple air, and smiled. Shadow was inside observing Pinkie. Then, they both noticed a heart shaped envelope dancing in the wind. Pinkie had no idea who it was for and who sent it, until she saw what seemed to be pink wind. Her small smile turned into a huge grin as the envelope floated towards her. Pinkie caught the letter in her hoof, and turned around to shadow. She hopped back into her room.

"what's that?" shadow had finally noticed the pink envelope in her hooves, and He could only guess it was good news.

"it's a letter from my human friend!" pinkie pie replied, and bounced over to where he was sitting on her bed.

"What!?" shadow shouted with surprise. "I thought my world only had humans! And, how do you know they exist?!"

"Well this girl is a different kind." Pinkie shrugged. "she's been the only one to find our world. But, she did tell us about other humans." Pinkie pie stopped talking for a moment, but soon began to read the letter.

Dear Pinkie Pie,

I am ready to come back to visit you all.

I know you will be so excited, so I'm asking you personally to plan a party for my arrival.(though, I know you would anyway.)

Can you get innovations sent out?

Also, get Vinyl Scratch to get some speaker boxes set up.

"Wow!" Pinkie pie squealed with excitement. "This party is going to be huge!" She was hopping around her room, with the perfect plan already set in her mind.

Meanwhile, shadow was pondering this.

'a human? Here? How? Mmmm... Mabye...'

"Uh.. Shadow?" Pinkie stopped bouncing when she noticed shadow deep in thought.

"Yes Pinkie?" He snapped out of this thought, and looked up at her.

"Whatcha thinking about?" Pinkie wrapped a hoof around him. He put a hand on her hoof.

" just thinking about my guardian sister."

"your what now? I thought you didn't have any siblings." She rested her head on his shoulder.

"well, biologically, no."(except if you read the comics. Lol) "But, this one girl, she helped me through a really dark part of my life. We're so close that we declared each other brother and sister. It's been a while since I've seen her." Pinkie sat up straight.

"how come you haven't told me about her until now?"

Shadow rubbed the back of his neck. "it never crossed my mind. Except for now, I guess." Pinkie pie blinked, then smiled. She hugged shadow.

"I'll except that answer."

Shadow slightly flinched, but hugged her back. He was still not so used to this, it but didn't bother him. They broke from the embrace, and pinkie pie bounced down the stairs, getting ready for the party filled day tomorrow.

The next day, pinkie was awaiting her friend at twilight's castle. She suddenly felt weight in the air. It was warm, happy. She smiled from ear to ear.

She knew that I had come.

she looked up, and saw a small figure in the distance. A human. That Dark Brown hair and brown eyes no pony could forget.

"it's good to be back." I inhaled the sweet scent of Equestria. How I have missed it.

"Wensday!" pinkie screamed with delight. I saw her running towards me, and before I knew it, I was pinned down with a huge hug.

"hi pinkie pie! How are you?" I giggled, returning her hug. She let go, and we started walking.

"I'm great! Oh! And, while you were gone, some anthropomorphic friends came!"

I laughed. "I have a feeling who they might be." pinkie wasn't listening though.

she brought me to the middle of the town, where Vinyl Scratch and Octavia was setting up Vinyl's DJ booth on a huge stage. "Guys, you didn't need to go all out for me." I chuckled, and Octavia smiled.

"It wasn't me. It was vinyl." Vinyl appeared from behind the booth.

"Hey! It was both of our ideas!" I chuckled again at their banter.

"It's all good, you two. Keep it up!" I gave them a thumbs up, and they returned it with a smile.

"Come on wensday!" Pinkie motioned me towards another activity being set up. I grinned and followed her. "I'm coming!"

Later that day...

"Shadow?" Pinkie pie poked her head through her bedroom door, waiting for shadow. "You're coming, right?" She herd him grunt from the other side of the room and watched as he stood up to stretch.

"As long as it makes you happy, pinkie." Pinkie pie opened the door up, and hopped over to him.

"That's just what I like to hear!" She beamed, and gave him a quick kiss. He was a little surprised, but returned it with another kiss.

"So," shadow started, holding her hoof. "who's this friend of yours?"

Pinkie pie giggled. "I can't tell you silly! It's a surprise!" They started walking towards the door. Shadow rolled his eyes.

"Sure."

At the party, pinkie pie and shadow split up momentarily to not be seen together by Sonic and his friends. They didn't need to do this, but shadow felt it was for the best if they kept discreet from the public, even though they were seen together by twilight, Fluttershy, rarity, silver, and tails. Pinkie agreed with this notion. So every time they went to a crowded place, they split until they could meet up again.

The middle of town was littered with streamers and balloons. In all directions, there were many fun activities and attractions with lines already forming. Up ahead of him, he saw the food table, stuffed to the brim with all kinds of sugary sweets. Everypony seemed so happy, telling stories about this human. What shadow had gathered was that it was a girl, she was willing to help anyone who needed advice, and was fun to have around, even if she was shy at times. It was beginning to sound more like...

"I'm proud to say, I am back Equestria!"

That voice. Shadow turned to the stage. He knew who it was.

I was standing on the stage, smiling widely at everypony in front of me. Having so many who respected me, it was something I haven't had in a while. Then, my eyes caught the attention of him. It's only been a month since I've seen him, and I knew they were here, but I still was shocked to see him at a party.

His eyes went wide.

"Wensday?" Shadow whispered to himself.

All my introductions were over, so I stepped off the stage, and headed to shadow. Pinkie pie caught me on the way.

"do you like the party Wensday? It's a great party, right?" She asked me with excitement.

I stopped for moment.

"you've certainly outdid yourself this time, pinkie." I smiled at her and she smiled at me. I continued over, with pinkie pie by my side.

Now, shadow and I stood in front of each other. So many memories we held together... shadow found himself on the verge of a tear, yet he knew that he shouldn't be crying. He looked down, a blush on his cheeks for what he was about to do. Pinkie pie was oblivious to this, so it shocked her even more when shadow pulled me into a hug.

"Wensday! Sis, I missed you so much!" I gladly returned his hug, and had watery eyes myself.

"it's good to see you too. Even though it's only been a month." we both departed from the embrace, with little smiles on our faces. Pinkie's mouth hang open in surprise. But that wasn't the last of the surprises. behind her, sonic and his friends walked up. They saw me, and smiled big.

"Well, isn't it the one and only Big Sis." Sonic smirked, the tease directed at shadow. Shadow grunted, and I giggled, walking over to the group and gave them a hug.

"it's nice to see you guys too." I said nonchalantly. Pinkie pie, meanwhile, was a little shocked herself. But her bubbly demeaner come back fairly quickly.

"wow! You guys know wensday too?" Pinkie hopped up and down with excitement.

"yeah, it's a story." Tails answered after we all broke from the embrace.

"believe or not, this gal made shadow much more soft." Knuckles added.

"I'm not soft!" Shadow injected. They all rolled their eyes.

"sure you're not." Sliver grinned smugly. Shadow grunted again, and turned his gaze to pinkie.

"so, this party was for the best guardian ever?" He pointed to me. I cheeks flushed a slight pink. Getting complemented always made me blush, no matter who was complementing. Pinkie just grinned.

"it sure is!"

Then, The main 5 walked up to us all.

"can we hear that story?" Twilight asked me. I looked around, friends(and 1 family member) surrounded me. This...was my home away from home.

"sure. I got some time. In the next one." Of course, they were all confused, minus pinkie. For we knew, this story would be one of my most emotional experiences with the ultimate life form.
