Hello loves!

I.O.N.

Enjoy!

Alix sat rubbing her new hook against the rail of Duusuu, trying to keep from marring the beautiful wood. It was an odd adjustment to make, she was used to having two hands which she could use to craft watches of an almost royal caliber. But now she was down a hand and didn't know how to use its replacement. Sighing gently Alix grabbed the peacock brooch she had worn for years. The symbol of her right to this captaincy. Alix rubbed her fingers along the beveled edges where jewels in the fan sat sparkling in the dying light.

Logically she knew she could still be a good captain with a hook. Yet even still, a part of her, the part that once tried to warn her, told her this was a sign. Had they not gone missing they would be nearing thirty like the rest of their friends. Maybe her missing hand was the universe telling her it was time to look for the next Paon.

"You know, a serious face like that is never a good sign," Kim said as he dropped down next to her. "So what's rattling around in that tinkering brain of yours?"

Alix rolled her eyes and nudged his shoulder, already feeling just a tiny bit better with him being there. "I'm wondering if I should have let you fall from the clock tower when we were kids."

"Nah you would have missed my awesomeness too much!"

Alix laughed as he tried to side tackle her. "Now seriously." He said once the laughter had worn off, "What's got you giving the sea your contemplating thousand-yard stare."

With a deep sigh, Alix removed the hook from her stump and tossed it lightly to Kim, "I saw this coming once."

"What?"

"Losing my hand because of Dylan. Waking up to the realization that my pirating captain days are over."

"Now hold on!"

"I know I could still be a captain with a hook for a hand numbskull. Part of me is saying that I call it a day. Find my successor, train them up, maybe finally go back and see what happened to everything."

"You want to go back?"

"Maybe. I don't know." Alix leaned back to stare at the rapidly appearing stars, "Just kinda feels like it's time ya know?"

Kim leaned back too, "Maybe," then he turned to look at her, "but maybe not. Let's see what happens at the copycat trials before we do anything hasty."

"We?"

"If you seriously think any of us would let you go back alone you clearly don't know the people we've called family for technically fifteen years as well as you think you do."

"You think they'd want to go?"

"Probably. They've known us long enough to be curious even if they don't ask."

"Okay then." Alix smiled, "After the trial."

Much talk. Very dialouge.

Comment what you thought!
