Incrilix: I'd just like to say hello to you all, and I wish everyone the best for 2021!

Oh and I feel kinda retarded for not really explaining what fenrir would sound like, If anyone has played 'Evil Within' I was going for the whole Ruvik voice cause it sounds really great...

Anyway hope you enjoy the chapter.

~Patch~

Location: Qrows Office, Signal academy.

Silence...

For the past hour within qrows office, it had been nothing, but utter silence

He had to give qrow some credit though, his office which had a standard desk with two high tech monitors, a glass touch pad, two leather black and red sofa chairs, one for qrow himself, seated behind his monitors, a large window directly behind him which overlooked the courtyard two stories below, the walls, which were all painted red were devoid of any decorations other than a few wall shelves and digital file slots, the other chair to which he was currently seated on. was placed directly in front of the desk giving him a rather perfect view of his host if he bothered to look.

Other than qrows natural fragrance, his office was rather spacious, and leaned more towards practicality than anything else.

"wha-? why the hell am I analysing a scent?!" fenrir inwardly cringed, having no idea why someone's scent was important, outwardly, he remained cool and calm, acting as if the man sitting across from him was non-existent.

"Enjoying yourself, are we?"

Well until he made his existence known.

Forcing back a scowl, his head currently turned away from the person sitting in front of him, giving him a sidelong glance his eyes narrowing perceptively as he scrutinized the man.

He was middle aged with a light complexion, tousled grey hair and thin brown eyes hiding behind a pair of shaded glass spectacles, what the man wore was a unzipped black suit showing a buttoned up vest and green shirt underneath, he also wore a pair of dark-green pants and black trouser shoes for footwear.

Turning his head, fenrir leaned back into his chair, gaze now firmly set on his host, his bangs making his gaze all the more sharper, mouth set into a thin line, Trying hard to ignore the annoying smile he had on his face.

With what ozpin thought was a warm smile, he felt it was high time he introduced himself, seeing as they werent able to make a proper introduction before since this meeting wasn't exactly sanctioned to take place.

In short, he really shouldn't be here.

"Well. It seems I should be the one to introduce myself, seeing as we were rushed into my colleague's office before I was able to properly greet you," Nodding his head down in a gesture of greeting. "My name is Ozpin, and you are?" He asked kindly, hoping to atleast reassure the boy he wasn't in any trouble, and could relax a bit.

"What do you want?" Fenrir asked bluntly, golden irises blaring, his time and patience for enigmatic people being rather strained.

Ozpin was a bit stunned by the agressivenes of his attitude, a slight frown marring his features, he was used to meeting alot of students who had quite the introverted and standoffish attitude, but the boys question was strange, it had sounded as if he thought they were bargaining for something in particular.

Smile returning albeit a little strained. "What I want, is merely your name, nothing more." he spoke softly, eye's never leaving fenrirs as he took a sip out of his mug.

Fenrir continued to stare at the man unblinkingly, obviously not sold on the answer he was given. "Hn, well I'll ask again. what do you want from me?"He asked coldly, fenrir had absolutely no intention of having idle conversation.

Even with the coldness of his tone, Ozpins smile never faltered, his posture all too relaxed, as he regarded fenrir with a slight chiding stare.

Taking another sip from his mug, before placing it down onto the desk in front of him, twisting the mug around to show him the beacon emblem hidden on the other side of his mug.

Fenrir turned his head slightly, narrowing his eyes at the emblem, the gold hues in his eyes dissipating as he realized who he was actually speaking to.

"I believe now is the time you introduce yourself, no?"

Eyes flicking back to ozpin's own, a little bothered by his smug look now, he was torn between acting atleast a little shameful for being rude to the one person he actually needed to impress to get what he wanted.

The other part of him refused to submit to a man he didn't know, and who's intentions could be yet another problem added to his list.

Giving ozpin a narrowed stare, "That answers where you're from, naturally answering a piece of my question from before, so thank you." He offerred bluntly, a hint of gratitude in his eyes.

Ozpin gave fenrir a confused look. "A piece?" he asked, a frown marring his features as his curiosity was slightly stroked.

Closing his eyes, fenrir waved the man off disinterestedly, "It doesn't matter, a piece is better than nothing, keep your ulterior motives." He said with an air of finality, his tone coming off a little condescending.

Ozpin looked at fenrir with a look of suprise, before he closed his eye's letting out a small chuckle, "haha! very well, I'll do just that, now, if you don't mind, your name please?" he asked kindly.

Giving ozpin an intense stare, this man was persistent. "Fenrir Lycidas" He answered honestly, fenrir had to admit, the man must have the patience of a rock.

Staring at fenrir with a more relaxed look, exhaling lightly as he leaned back in his chair "Hmm... very good, given how difficult it was just to get your name, i'll get straight to the point." Ozpins eye's narrowed, his expression becoming more serious. "I want you at beacon academy."

Fenrir was genuinely taken aback by this, not at all bothered that he likely looked stupid with the dumbstruck look on his face.

That's it?...

"Heh, not gonna give him that grandiose speech about the life of a true huntsman? Oz, you're losing your touch."

Closing his eyes, chuckling softly at that all too familiar sarcastic voice, Ozpin Leaned foward as he rested his elbows on the desk while folding his hands infront of him "Only a beautiful lie is best left grandiose, whereas the truth is almost always an enigma." Opening his brown eye's, to stare at fenrir with a knowing look. "Yet some truths, can be plucked. if you have the right... sources."

Fenrir didn't bother to show any outward reaction at first, still reeling from his earlier suprise, when he was fully able to process what the man had just said, his blood ran cold, his eye's merely flicking from qrow leaning against the wall by the door his entire posture relaxed and unguarded. back to ozpin who continued to stare expectantly, waiting for his reaction.

Reaching into his coat, cautious of qrow as he saw him flinch from the corner of his eye, he pulled out three throwing knives between his fingers before slowly placing them down onto the desk, his eye's firmly trained on ozpins own.

Qrow grunted quietly as he pushed himself off of the wall lazily, moving over towards the window, gazing at the courtyard below, cautiously watching a few stragglers walk out the gates, before flicking a button on the side, blacking out the glass entirely.

Fenrir's eye's flicked over towards qrow momentarily before returning to ozpin, shielding his nervousness well behind a stoic front,

Fenrir let his eyes drop to his knives, then back to ozpins own, "What do you know?" He asked, he didn't know if they knew absolutely everything, but even if they knew something it was still disconcerting.

Qrow resisted the urge to groan, already feeling oz's suggestive stare on him. "Yeah, I'll pass, you wanted the information oz, not me, you tell him." He honestly just wanted to go to a tavern or bar... or honestly wherever, meetings really weren't his forté.

Ozpin let out an exasperated sigh, shaking his head disapprovingly, he should've known qrow would refuse, reaching into his coat before pulling out his scroll connecting it to the the glass touch pad gesturing fenrir to grab it. "Take a look, all the information of you is on this dossier, and please let me know if my informant missed anything?" The unspoken 'I doubt he did' was clearly received, seeing as the first thing fenrir did when he took a look was frown.

Scrolling through all the info they had, he was suprised they were able to gather so much, most of the things they had even he didn't know about himself. Alot of information seemed to be missing or blocked by a verification code.

Atlas report: All private information, on miners 6A56 and 6A74 are restricted only to the schnee companies overseers, Tampering with said information will be seen as a criminal offense punishable by immediate incarceration. ( Q: verification required.)

Winter's report: Something just isn't right about how this investigation was handled, too many blanks, and evidence that looked as if it were left there like bird seeds for us to pick at. The accumulating deaths of so many faunus during the massacre fifteen years ago was an absolute scar to Mantle's history! It had me questioning why? why had it taken so long for the atlas military to mobilize just to put Ulysses down, given Ulysses was merely a smaller military branch composed of lighter trained soldiers who worked more as security, a single operative could have easily resolved the situation before it even escalated to the point it did, further into my investigations however it seems several slave miners were silenced during the massacre, I'm certain they may have held crippling information capable of destroying the reputation of someone very important. (Q: Wouldn't put it past a schnee, well not this one, this one's ok.)

Unknown file: We of the Ulysses brigade! stand ready to elimate any and all threats to our great society! our targets have been sent to us from $#@$$ @#$# himself, all able bodied men and women will rally at our specified rendezvous points. (Q: Verification Required.)

Fenrir refocused his gaze on ozpin, his former expression of stoicism gone, as he now regarded the man with an accusatory glare. "You're looking more and more like a peddler of secrets, than a teacher at beacon academy. what interest do you have with this information anyway?" He questioned, the sharp bite in his tone not missed by either of the recipients in the room.

Staring at the boy with a patient smile, not at all affected by fenrirs apparent increase in agitation, raising one finger. "Firstly, To be clear I am the headmaster of beacon academy, it's my job to be well informed about who I accept into the school," now flicking up a second finger, completely ignoring fenrir's indignant look as he explained his position to the boy. "Secondly This information benefits you alot more than it does me, now please swipe to the left on the pad, you're not finished reading yet."

Glare abating slightly, his curiosity winning over his anger for now, giving both men in the room a confused look, less so for qrow seeing as he was already chugging his flask like there was no tomorrow.

Swiping the pad, he honestly shouldn't even be all that suprised with what he saw.

Winter's notes

Log one: This one's been a massive thorn in Atlas operations for months, I've kept my eye's on him ever since his killing spree began, after he killed a specialist, well, that's when I decided to take a more active role in his activities, he is responsible for undermining several of atlas's operations alongside the infamous Adam Taurus, projects that were nearing completion had to be extended or were absolutely scrapped because of the amount of lien he was costing the Atlas government it is absolutely imperative we ascertain this target.

Log two: I nearly had him in an abandoned dust mine far off into to the slopes of the mountains. I had several scouts survey the area for me beforehand , we had thought it first to be a hub for many of the fangs units surrounding mantle, given the amount of white fang members seen trafficking dust out of there it was a reasonable source to follow through with, naturally killing two birds with one stone.

However I was foolish to go in alone, the utter lack of defenses and the amount of dust cannisters left around should have left a clear indication. He baited me, and I fell for it like a god damn rookie, he had rigged the entire mine to blow, and with the amount of dust in it, it would've been a catastrophic explosion that neither of us would have escaped from, it was either him or the bomb, as luck would have it I'm still here, but seeing as he escaped I wasn't all that lucky.

Log three: It was either fate or another bout of luck for me that he showed up again. I was tasked to defend the council members from an all out assault from Adam and his forces, Adam had led the main charge, his hound had snuck in through the vents, He was an absolutely deadly opponent, He was swift, precise, not a move wasted as he tried to kill me, but unfortunately for him, I was far more experienced than he was, he had bogged out as soon as I had gotten the upper hand so I wasn't able to capture him, count that with our losses however, it's clear that they still won that day.

Log four: Two council members, and seven specialists now lie dead because of our absolute incompetence throughout the year of the white Fang's successful operations, I pleaded to the general to take action but it wasn't until his own attempted assassination that he had finally started to take this faunus alot more seriously, The white fang had never been this bold before, attacking the general within his own military compound with a well thought out sneak attack that none of us were prepared for, Adam was nowhere to be seen, so it was a likelihood he let his hound off the leash, again I fought him to save someone and once again he escaped... but he was far better than before.

Atlas military orders: I will leave this note as a warning to any military personnel intending to even consider the notion of going after this criminal. I will find him and capture him myself elimination of the target might be required if he decides to be a nuisance. His current location is entirely unknown, he's been off the radars for awhile now so it's highly likely he's no longer in atlas territory, nevertheless any plans to interfere in my operation, trust me. you will regret it.

Ozpin continued to stare at fenrir with an analytical gaze, gauging his reaction to the information he was given, noticing the slight twitches his eyebrows would make, the glaze in his yellow orbs showing emotions his face just wasn't able to reciprocate, the most noticable.

Was regret...

Ozpin took another sip from his mug, blatantly ignoring qrow gesturing to his wrist, indicating the amount of time they had left, "Please, enlighten me fenrir, was it easy?" He questioned.

Fenrir placed the pad down gently, closing his eye's as he exhaled softly, a question he was all too familiar with by now. tukson had asked only once and the answer was always the same.

What's done is done...

Ozpin's eye's softened slightly understanding completely what the young faunus was going through. "hmm, It's never easy holding onto something like regret, especially if it's one that's left you with blood on your hands." Standing up out of his chair mug in hand, fenrirs questioning eye's trailing him as he made his way to the window flicking the switch with his cane the window's returning to a clear tint, the students below wandering about talking and laughing without a care in the world. "You regret the lives you've taken that's plain to see, but have you ever come to consider that your regrets are also your accomplishments." Turning his head to stare at fenrir from the corner of his eye, brown gaze cryptic as he awaited the boys answer.

Fenrir stared at the man with questioning look, "So you're saying... I should be proud of the things I've done?." He asked slowly, wondering if the man had any clue of what he had just said.

Ozpin spun around placing both hands on the hilt of his cane, a smile on his face not a single drop of coffee spilling from his mug. "In a way. yes," He replied a tad too cheerfully. waving his mug dismissively as fenrir gave him a rather sour look "But that's beside the point, yes in one set of eye's what you did was wrong and any punishment you receive would likely be quite severe and rightly justified." He said, aptly reminding fenrir of the certain ramifications he will have to deal with in the future.

Staring at the man with a look of acceptance, fenrir understood what he had done would one day be the end of him, retribution being rather cruel when it wanted to be, but it didn't really mean he would just place his head on the executioner's block and accept it so easily.

He regretted the things he did, but not the reasoning behind some of them.

Picking up one of the knives on the desk and spinning it along the palm of his hand, capturing both fenrir and ozpins attention. "And you should obviously know kid, that most faunus see you as an inspiration to the cause, a shining example of what faunus are truly capable of, In most cases, they think the sun shines outta your ass, with that killer resistance crap, and in saying that, that should explain the second pair of eye's thing, right oz?" Qrow slurred dully, grabbing the knife handle mid spin before placing it back down, he couldn't be bothered waiting for ozpins build up into something great, he wanted to get this this over and done with so he could get to the bar already.

Knowing his luck though, he'd probably never get outta here.

Staring at qrow with a deadpanned stare, "Qrow, I understand your need for bluntness, but please, add a little more vigor to your inputs, that was absolutely atrocious." Ozpin chided qrow lightly, a strained smile on his face as he was a little sour that he had blatantly taken the suspense out of what he wanted to say next.

Shrugging nonchalantly, qrow's disinterested look being rather self explanatory on how he felt about it.

Sighing lightly in an exasperated manner, ozpin knew full well that both fenrir and qrow were starting to become more impatient by the second. "Hmmm... I do believe I have dragged things out a bit." He thought as he made his way back over to his seat, finding it high time he ended this little secret meeting.

Seating himself back down comfortably, placing his empty mug down on the desk, staring back into fenrir's expectant gaze, "Carrying on with our earlier discussion, yes qrow was correct, you were a hero amongst them, but given current circumstances it really isn't looking so well for you." he said, his serious demeanor showing yet again.

Gazing back into ozpins piercing gaze his eye's showing an even greater sense of confusion. "I don't get you, you ask for my name, yet it seems that was a waste of time given you know more things about me than I know of myself," his voice may have remained leveled but the scowl forming on his face was a sign that fenrir's patience was thinning. "You want me to go to beacon academy right?" Sitting up in his chair, yellow eye's narrowed as he searched for any sense of hesitance from the man. "I'd probably endanger many of your students in more ways than one, whether it's from my own volition or the problems at my heel, you will benefit nothing."He said a tad bit harshly, his mouth set into a thin line, his tone implying he wasn't all that convinced that ozpin understood what he was allowing into his academy.

Ozpin remained unchanged, his look of calm never once faltering a certain gleam in his eye as he regarded the boy with a look befitting his position, "Young man, you misunderstand, you have problems yes, many students that come to my academy do, what I intend to give you is a solution to your problems in the form of a proposition." He wasn't usually someone that was often stern, but it was likely the only way he was going to get through to the boy.

Fenrir raised an eyebrow at that. "What sort of proposal?" He asked,

Tapping the ground at his side with his cane an enigmatic smile on his face.

"One of which regret is a past time and the future is purely beneficial for us both."

~City of vale~

~Two days before Beacon Academy Initiation.~

Location: Tukson's bookstore.

Left eye twitching uncontrollably, face scrunched up in irritation as he tried in vain to keep his annoyance in check, "So let me get this straight, the headmaster himself went to see you personally while you were in patch attending signal, to say you were accepted into beacon?" Tukson asked, the slight strain in his voice should've been a clear indicator that he was not in the mood for fenrir's antics.

Was he annoyed that, fenrir had come back a month ago, waltzing into his bookstore, not a care in the world offering little to no information into what he got up to during his time at signal, his only words being 'Hey tukson, I need a job again'.

No, in fact he kinda missed him being around, his quiet nature and poor work ethic in his store being quite humourous to watch when it came to older women teaching fenrir about etiquette and how he needed to present himself more adequately.

Seeing him flustered for a change was too good to pass up.

Was he angry that he had unknowingly blasted his identity to all of remnant when someone had recorded his fight with another huntsman, uploading it onto the web as it went viral for two days straight.

Again... no, the video itself was flagged and taken off of every videoing site known to remnant after those two days, and given no one had come to his door to blow his head off it was a likelihood that noone important saw it.

And seeing as the kid got his ass kicked, it was good he was getting some teachings in humility.

No, no, the main reason for why he was Currently annoyed was not because of what he did, no...

It's what he's doing, that's absolutely irking him!

Currently seated on one of the chairs in the back of the bookstore where the living room was situated, Fenrir was busy tinkering away with howl, the blade itself lieing flat against the table, it's mechanism taken apart into pieces for a better way to oil and clean the joints and springs, fix any problems with the electronics and trigger system, and clean out any excess in the barrels.

Eye's narrowing slightly in concentration, fenrir usually found rewiring the tricky part, if each wire were to be put in wrong, or in the wrong place, the entire mechanism could combust, no they had to be put in perfectly if it were to work adequately.

"Can I have that dust cutter please?"

Giving the kid a glare, tukson stared at the outstretched hand, gesturing for him to pass him the tool, "Fenrir no, now stop what you're doing now and pay attention." Tukson all but ordered Fenrir, finally becoming fed up with his evasive and non-caring attitude.

The kid already ruined his coffee table, what more could he do.

Turning to tukson, his eye's narrowed, most would take this as a sign they had screwed up and pissed him off, but tukson knew that this was fenrir's way of giving him undivided attention in a respectful manner.

Closing his eye's, letting out a breath to calm himself, "Look, fenrir, All I want is an explanation, so I can decide whether or not we need to be cautious, I mean come on! this situation just reeks of hidden motives" Opening his eye's, his Expression stern, "So tell me, how much of a mess did you land yourself into now?" Tukson asked, the seriousness of his tone, setting the mood..

Tapping the side of his blade, confusion lingering in his eye's, "Hm? I wouldn't really know how to answer that." fenrir muttered more to himself than anything.

Glaring more heatedly at that reply, "It's not really that hard to just say 'Oh no tukson, I guess we're really fucked!' now is it?" letting out an irate sigh, running his hand through his hair in irritation, "Geez, see.. I told you we should have packed for vacuo, it's so much simpler there." tukson muttered exasperatedly, he wanted to say I told you so, but that wouldn't get them out of this situation.

Glaring back, his golden eye's alight with smouldering indignation, "I didn't say we were fucked." Turning away from tukson's questioning gaze. "We're pretty much at a crossroad now."

Staring at the kid strangely. "Meaning?" Tukson questioned curiously.

Squeezing the trigger hearing the tell-tale 'ping' letting him know the trigger system was active, turning back to tukson taking in his expectant frown, in all honesty he didn't know how to put it, he couldn't just tell tukson he was a useful resource and be on his way.

Tukson deserved better than that.

But telling him everything would just unnecessarily put him at risk and make it seem like he was placing all of his problems onto tukson, when he'd already honored the agreement and paid him back in full.

Running his thumb along the flat of his blade, "It's not your problem tukson, you've done more than enough for me, once I'm gone you can do what you like." Fenrir muttered distantly, his eye's tracing the engravings in the blade trying to lose himself into a well needed distraction.

Tukson glared at that, finding his guarded attitude at the moment more irritating than his ruined coffee table, "Don't give me that bullshit fenrir! come on, we're far past debts and deals, so come on, spill it."

Closing his eyes, letting out an airy sigh, the man never made things easy. "Damn it! fine, I get what I want, which is a place in beacon academy, however," turning his head lopsidedly towards his grizzled friend staring at him tiredly, "They know everything about me, every single detail, right down to who I was within the white fang." he muttered.

Tukson stared at fenrir with a concerned look. "So what? you're saying they'll use that information against you, if you don't do what they say?" he inquired, trying to make sense of this without making any assumptions.

Humming in confirmation, "Possibly, the proposal itself seems to rely on information, I gather one thing, they reward me with information regarding my past." After he finished, fenrir couldn't help but narrow his eye's noticing the slight twitch in tukson's posture.

"Tukson? what's with the twitch?"Fenrir questioned, eyeing tukson suspiciously.

"It's nothing, it's just cold."Tukson replied bluntly, berating himself for slipping up.

Scowling in anger, his gold hues shining in fustration, "Now that's bullshit, now you're being a hypocrite." He voiced evenly, but even Tukson knew he was pissed off.

"Jesus fen! it's not enough to satisfy you, I'm sorry." Tukson exclaimed bitterly, the sad look in his eye's spelling out what he really wanted to say.

Fenrir gripped the blade handle tightly, looking as if he wanted to pursue the subject, closing his eye's, letting out a steady breath to calm himself, "That's not fair, but Fine, I'll leave it... for now" he said, the sharpened stare accented with the edge in his tone left as a reminder, that this was far from over.

Looking unfazed by his temper flare, tukson turned around and started walking away, his intent, to get some much needed sleep... teenagers were god damn stressful to deal with.

Especially this one...

"Life's not fair fenrir, hence why I'm stuck with you, I'm off to bed, so I want that coffee table looking brand new by the morning."

Staring at his retreating form with a dumbfounded look, they still had so much left to talk about, and with so much left unsaid it'd likely lead to a rather uneeded sleepless night, added on it'd likely take awhile to clean the table, in all honesty fenrir could admit that he was feeling rather petty right now.

"Asshole..."

Really petty...

Location: Beacon academy

Ozpin gazed down at the forms on his desk with a hint of satisfaction, marred with something more... ominous, yes in time each individual would aid him in furthering his goal, how much time however depends on when 'She' acts.

'Hmm she rules the board at this current time, and she knows it too, she'll wait for me to make my move. hmph! she was never one to play fair.' Ozpin thought, an amused smile on his face as his eye's gained a certain shine in his glasses as he read over his recommended applicants.

'Hmm? this year is looking rather promising with the turn out of so many gifted candidates, I would say the year is brimming with potential'

Smiling to himself at that thought, Qrow rarely received anything rewarding from anyone, so as a token of appreciation, he will keep a close eye on his niece's progress.

Smiling as his eye's landed on the bottom, his gaze becoming more intenses, 'Oh yes, and I could never forget about his little protege either.' Ozpin thought cryptically, it would be best if Glynda never saw his file just yet.

He would take full responsibility, if the boy ever slips up.

Leaning back in his chair, taking a small sip from his mug, a relaxed sigh leaving his lips.

"A bit more time my dear, I hope you dont hold it against me."

Chapter end.

Bloody hell! I got this chapter done too! thank god for that!

Now, I'd like to say thank you to whoever reads this story I'm entirely grateful since there are so many other wolf-faunus fics better than mine, my aim is merely to satiate my own little fantasy, but I do hope it pleases you guy's aswell.

Expect in the next chapter fenrir's initiation into Beacon... and someday friendship... or maybe not.

But no, please all of you stay safe, and I wish you all the best for 2021!
