"…Ah, yes. I see you lying in a grassy field, watching the sunrise, by the side of a man whose name starts with S. You seem to be completely blissful about something."

So said the fortune teller at the fair a few days later. Oh, gee, I wonder what I'm blissful about, I wanted to say. I'd also been told other things, but of course, me being who I am, this is the part that stuck out.

That's really the only thing that caught my eye at the fair. There seemed to be a fair-exclusive currency that you could turn in for prizes, but I'd taken a look at said prizes, and none really seemed to strike my fancy.

Sam seemed to be a different story. The entire time I was there, he was at what looked like a slingshot game, and one look at his face wiped away all doubt that he was intent on winning enough "star tokens" for something.

When I'd found Abigail, she was just kinda standing in the middle of everything and looking around.

"Hey!" I said, walking up to her.

"Oh, hey!" she replied. "…I beat all the games. Now what?"

"Wait… you can do that?" I asked, baffled.

"Yeah," she nodded.

"…Anything you want that needs star tokens?" I asked.

"Not really," she shrugged.

"Huh," I replied. "Fair enough. I didn't see anything I wanted, either."

"Have you gotten your fortune told?" she then asked.

"Yeah, actually," I answered.

"Ooh, what was your fortune?" she asked excitedly.

"That while I'm not perfect or fearless, I'm becoming a formidable warrior," I said. "Also that the farm's looking to be a healthy one if I keep taking care of it." I decided to omit the part about the man whose name starts with S. Abigail was already on to me as it was.

"That's cool!" Abigail said. "…Mine said something sorta weird, but sorta exciting at the same time."

"Ooh, what's that?" I asked.

"It said I'd go on a grand adventure with a man whose name starts with S," she said. "And that I'd be super happy about something while doing it."

Well, so much for omitting that part.

"Wait… really?" I asked. "I was actually told something similar, except mine said I'd be watching the sunrise in a grassy field. Also with a man whose name starts with S."

"…That's fishy," she said with a laugh. "Especially with… you know."

"Yeah, seriously," I agreed. "I wonder what the fortune teller's gimmick is."

"Same here," she agreed.

So that was interesting. I'm not sure what Abigail ultimately thought of it, but I shrugged it off. I'd received weirder predictions before.
