Lucas's POV: the other day Nathan and Haley had us watch Lydia for them so that they can have a date night. It was nice to have Lydia because it gives us a small does into what life will be like with two kids, which didn't seem to bad . Today me and Saturday spent some times together before little man is here while Peyton was at red bedroom records doing some work. When I went to pick her up to go home her water broke so we left sawyer with Haley while me and Peyton headed off to the hospital after a few hours we finally got to meet our little man but within 15 minutes after he was born things turn bad. Little man turned blue and was needed some oxygen and the nurses and doctors took him away to the nciu which I went with him to make sure he was okay. About an hour later they ran some test and now they want to watch him for a little bit so I went back to be with Peyton
P= hey how is he
L= he is still a perfect little boy
P= that's good do they know anything yet
L= not yet they ran a lot of test and right now they are watching him for right now
P= all right that's good to know
L= well while I was with him I took some pictures would you like to see them
P= yes of course I would
L= all right here you go ( shows her the pictures)
P= he is so perfect
L= yes he is
P= hey maybe we should call everyone and tell them that little man is here
L= that's a good idea especially since Haley has sawyer
P= oh yeah and maybe we should tell them not to come for a while since we still don't know what's going on with little man
L= oh yeah good idea I'll call Haley you call brooke and then we will call everybody else
P= all right good plan
It takes us about a half an hour to call everyone and they understood to stay at home until we call again. Once we all got done calling everyone Peyton got transferred to another room and now we just wait until we hear from the doctors about our little man. About 20 minutes a knock at the door
DT= MR. and Mrs Scott
L= yes hey doctor
DT= good evening congrats on your perfect little baby boy
P= why thank you so how is he doing nobody has told us anything
DT= he is doing much better than before so that's good
L= did you guys figure out why he turned blue a few moments after he was born
DT= well we ran some test and we might have figured this out but I do have a question for you guys
P= sure what's your question doctor
DT= well I am wondering if anyone in your family have a heart condition
L= yeah I have HCM
DT= are you the only one who has it in your family or is it past down
L= it was passed down from my dad they said it's genetic why do you ask
DT= well the reason I asked is because all the test we did on your little boy showed some kind of heart condition we had narrowed it down to a couple but since you said you have HCM I think your son has the same heart condition as you
L= so our son has HCM
DT= yes he does I'm sorry to tell you that
P= it's All right Doctor at least we know what is wrong with him
DT= oh that's a good point
L= so when can we see him
DT= I will having a nurse bring him back here in a few minutes
P= all right thanks doctor
DT= it's no problem
The doctor talks over what little man's condition is going to be like and we go over how bad it is and everything like that. Once we go over everything she leaves us alone within 30 minutes the nurse is finally paying us back a little boy we spend some time alone with him about half an hour later
L= are you ready for everyone to come in meet this little guy
P= oh yeah it's time for everyone to meet this strong little man that we have
L= that's for sure
I decide to just send out a whole group text everyone and they all were super cited to meet him so we spent the last few moments of peace and quiet with our little man and be prepared to tell everyone the news about our little guy's heart condition. About 20 minutes later we both start hearing all the love ones come down the hallway toward our room.
P= I guess our family and friends are here to meet him now
L= oh yea they are so here ( knocking)
Both= come in
KR= look my baby boy had a baby boy
L= mom I can't believe you're here I didn't think you'd get here in time
KR= well I found a way I came in today and Haley said that you guys were already here so I guess I got here just in time
L= yes you did
P= hey Karen it's great to see you
KR= it's great to see you Peyton you look amazing for just having a baby
P= why thank you
KR= you're welcome are you guys ready for everyone else
L= oh yeah bring them in
KR= I will ( gets everyone)
BD= yeah we have a baby
P= Who wants to hold him first
HS= I would love too
KR= I called grandma gets to hold him first
HS= of course you can
P= well here you go grandma Karen ( pass him over)
KR= hey sweet little boy I'm your grandma
L= hey sawyer come here
SS= daddy
P= or you could good girl for aunt haley and uncle Nathan
NS= she was so well behaved and she had so much fun playing with Lydia
L= that's great to hear baby girl
JS= so uncle Lucas aunt Peyton what is my new baby cousin's name
P= well Jamie your baby cousin's name is River Kenneth Scott
HS= that's a perfect name for a perfect little boy
AS= that's a good name may I ask who came up with that name and is there any meaning behind the name at all
L= of course not skills the one who came up with his name is Peyton
P= in the meaning behind the name is river is after the river court which means so much to us and Kenneth is after uncle Keith since he means so much to Luke
KR= he would be so proud of you and would be so honored to have you name your son after him
HS= all right may I hold my little nephew now
KR= of course here you go Haley ( pass river to Haley)
BD= so tell us how much he weighed
P= well he weighed 7 pounds even
L= and he is 20 inches long
JS= I wonder if he will be tall so he can play and lose against me and basketball in the future
L= ( everyone laughs) we will have to see any future Jamie
P= hey sawyer can you come to mommy
SS= okay
P= I miss you so much
NS= so may I ask where are you guys wanted us to wait a little bit before we came
L= Do you think we should tell them
HS= tell us what is something wrong with him
P= well the reason why we had you guys wait was because something happened right after he was born
BD= what happened
L= well he started to turn blue and his stats started to drop
P= they had to give him extra oxygen and then had to take him away to the NICU to run some test
KR= so did they figure out what was wrong with him
L= yes they did
NS= so what's wrong with him
L= well sadly he has taken after me and has HCM
HS= wait that's crazy
P= I guess he wanted to be just like his daddy
BD= did you ask them why they never found it on any of the ultrasounds throughout your whole pregnancy
P= they just said it's very hard to find and besides it only shows up when they are born
HS= well as long as he was healthy that's all that matters
L= he is so healthy
NS= hey Luke I hate to break it to you but he kind of looks like me
L= no he doesn't
HS= Nathan don't say that you were only saying that because Luke teased you forever that Jamie was his
NS= fine that's true but he doesn't look like either of them
P= I think he looks like Luke a little bit
AS= well let's hope he plays basketball better than his father when he gets older if not his uncle skills will teach him on the river court
NS= I think he needs to be taught by his best so uncle Nathan can teach him well
P= ( everyone laughs) well we will see who knows he may want to play music when he's older just like his mom
L= no way babe he is a Scott boy he will be playing basketball
Everyone stays and gets to know river for about two hours then they all leave me , Peyton and river alone
Peyton pov: I still can't believe he finally got to meet a little boy, he was so perfect. I got very scared a few minutes after he's born when the nurses had to wash them away because his stats were dropping. Me and Luke will be on scared but the doctors finally gave us some answers a few hours later. Turns out he has the same heart condition as Luke does. I can tell when the doctor said that he felt a little guilty that her son has HCM like him. But I think river will be just fine. Everyone was able to meet him and Karen got to come back just in time to meet her grandson. It's been two days since I gave birth in the doctors are letting us both come home right now me and river are waiting on Luke to come and get us to bring us home 10 minutes later
L= hey babe
P= there you are where is sawyer I thought she was coming with you
L= well she was but she didn't want to leave she was having too much fun hanging out with her grandma
P= well I'm fine with that
L= so are you guys ready to go home
P= yes we are I am ready to see my girl be him
L= All right come here a little man ( puts him in the car seat)
P= he looks so small in there I forgot how small they are
L= I know so how are you feeling
P= I am feeling great this time around
L= that's good so let's get you home
P= let's go
We head home and we arrive within 10 minutes
L= he's sawyer moon we are home
KR= looks Sawyer who's here
SS= mommy and daddy ( runs to them)
P= hey baby girl were you a good girl for grandma Karen
KR= yes she was maybe next time I'll bring Lily long to hang out
L= please do I miss my little sister
P= so how is Lilly doing anyways
KR= she is so girly and she is a very smart kid and has tons of friends
P= that's great to hear
L= sawyer do you want to hold your baby brother
SS= yes I do
P= All right come sit on the couch next to me
KR= now hold out your arms like this ( shows sawyer)
P= are you ready to hold your baby brother
SS= yes I am
L= all right here you go ( sawyer hold river )
P= so sawyer what do you think of you a little brother
SS= he is cool
L= that's good to hear can you say river
SS= river
P= good job baby girl
SS= I love you river
P= how sweet are you
KR= hey Luke can I talk to you for a second
L= sure you all right with them both babe
P= yeah I'm good go talk with your mom
L= all right your the best
KR= yes she is
(Outside )
L= it seems like ages since we both sat out here on the porch together
KR= I think the last time was right after Sawyer was born
L= oh yeah so what do you want to talk to me about
KR= I just wanted to check in on you
L= you did what for
KR= well I wanted to know how you are since you learned that River has HCM like you do
L= I am doing fine
KR= come on Luke tell me how are you really feel
L= it sucks that he has a health problem and it's the same one as me I blame myself that he has it
KR= don't blame yourself it's not your fault
L= then who's fault is it mom
KR= it's really nobody's fault but you can blame it on Dan
L= I guess I can
KR= but think about it this way it's just makes river even more special this way and you and him can bond over what you have in common
L= that's a good point Mom
KR= awesome be glad you found out when he was a baby and not wait until he was 17 like I did with you
L= that's another good point
We can his mom step outside for a while when they come back in everything was good. Karen only stayed for five extra days and helped us get settled in after she left me and Luke were laying in bed together after the kids were sleep
P= hey babe may I ask you what your mom and you talked about when we came up in the hospital
L= sure she wanted to check in with me about how I feel about river having HCM
P= how do you feel
L= at first I was blaming myself for him having HCM just like me but after I talk to my mom she told me I couldn't blame nobody but if I wanted to blame anybody I can blame Dan so that made me feel better
P= makes sense
L= but river having HCM makes him more special . Also it let's me and him bond over what we have in common
P= well I am glad your mother help you come to terms with it
L= I am too
We lay in bed for a few and see if we fall sleep as we get ready to be alone or two kids by ourselves and deal with a Health condition with our baby boy
