Chapter 15. The Calm Before…
The fire inside the tent roared as William and others leaned onto a war table.
"Gregor and Higur, I need you on the ram pushing it through the gates" Gregor nodded as he looked over to Higur who smiled slightly and popped his neck. "Kastumoto, you and Emily will go through the left walkways and clear the archers while Sayori and I will go down the right way" nobody spoke as they all leaned off and away from the table as William popped his neck and looked around. "try to get some sleep tonight, we attack at first light" everyone nodded and walked out of the tent as William walked over to a small side table and poured a mug full of meade.
William walked out of the meeting tent and looked around, the others were already dispersing a good amount around fires or retreated into tents. The snow crunched under his boot as he slowly walked to his tent and walked inside to the sound of crackling drowned the crunch of fresh snow. "if we win tomorrow, what becomes of this alliance between you and me and Higur? And how do WE stand?" William shifted in his chair as he squeezed her hand back.
"I've given it a lot of thought as well" William took a large gulp from his mug and took a deep breath as it went down his throat. "Ivar being the threat I see no reason why those involved would break ties when we finish dealing with him" Sayori looked at him, waiting for the answer to the questions on her mind. "if you'll allow I would like to keep those ties in place as long as we can, but with your brother in the way, it might prove difficult to keep alliances" Sayori nodded as she looked at the fire. "he doesn't exactly like me" she looked over to William and raised an eyebrow as a smile broke out.
"well when we first met, I didn't either" William nodded as he stood up and finished his mug before he walked over and poured another.
"would like something to drink?" Sayori shook her head as William put the jug down and sat back down. "anyways, in regard to the alliances we made with each other, I would like those in place as long as we can, Kastumoto and Higur have become people I can safely say I trust"
"and me?" Sayori looked at the fire as she felt a blush start to creep when William moved his hand to her leg and squeezed.

His paldrons, painted yellow and black fit on his shoulders and adjusted to the proper spots, his gauntlets slammed into place, as he then moved to the Elner chest piece and matching standards fell on his torso and strapped in perfectly as he grabbed his sword and helmet before he stepped out and noticed the sun starting to rise. William took a deep breath as he looked over to the side and saw Gregor fully armored and walking along side a freshly warpainted face of Higur and Trygve. William looked down to his Loran helmet and looked at the yellow paint on one side and put it on just as Gregor and Higur walked up to him.
"were waiting for your word William" Gregor held his hand out For William as they clasped forearms together, William tightened the grip on the hilt of his Sword in the scabbard before he saw Sayori walk out of her tent.
"let's finish this" Gregor smiled and slammed his helmet onto his head as they all walked down the way to the ram Emily and Kastumoto already waiting as the massive army or men and women ready to march and move on the bastion. William turned over to Gregor and nudged his shoulder. "so much for the calm" Gregor chuckled and grabbed his Halberd and looked forward.
"and now the storm"
