There were some days that Téa too wasn't sure she felt okay. Atem was Atem… and Yugi was well Yugi. They were different people, yet sometimes she couldn't help, but think about if circumstances had been different. If Yugi has been alive, and Atem has been dead like she had thought had happened, would she and Yugi have been together? Would she and Yugi have been walking up to receive their high school diplomas together at graduation this Sunday? Would she Joey, Tristan, and Bakura have been able to enjoy this momentous occasion together? How would they have celebrated?

When graduation on Sunday came, it was all a blur. When Atem was called up to the stage by the name Yugi Mutou, Téa's stomach clenched so hard. She has been doing so well in her response to hearing his name every day for attendance with Atem in his place, but it all came back. When she saw Atem accept Yugi's diploma in his place, just for a fraction of a second she thought she saw Yugi. This was supposed to have been Yugi's moment after all. Sure, Atem had finished up his last year albeit at a much less rigorous workload than Yugi, but it had been Yugi who persevered through the three years before. Yugi did those three years all while sometime along the way dealing with a new inhabitant in body and having to save the world a couple of times. This moment was supposed to have been Yugi's.

Téa always tried so hard to cheer Atem up, that sometimes she forgot that Atem's feelings were a little too valid. There were many things that he had taken over that were supposed to have been Yugi's.

When the two of them met up afterwards, their families came to congratulate them. Téa had been happy, but when she turned and saw Yugi's parents congratulating whom they thought was their son, she stifled a sob that would have come.

'I'm stronger than this.' She told herself.

Their families celebrated and took pictures the rest of the day. The dinner has been happy for the most part, but when everyone finally went home and Atem and Téa retired to their bedroom, Téa couldn't hold it in anymore.

Tears slipped from her eyelids and a sob broke out as Atem cocooned his arms tightly around her. "I know." He whispered into her hair.

This time, it was her who needed comfort.

There were some days that she needed more support, some days it was Atem who needed more comfort. The good thing was that these started to become less and less. They were just healing.

Mrs. Mutou has convinced them to go to therapy sessions together, because this grief and trauma of the crash and the loss of their friends was too great to handle.

The therapy helped. A lot.

As for their future plans, Téa had missed the prime time of the college application cycle and was too distressed to even consider sending in her applications once she was out of the coma. As for Atem, well college wasn't even a thought after the accident.

Atem and Téa decided to take a gap year. That was the logical choice as it would allow themselves to fully heal and not worry about the challenges college life would bring along with the already existing pains they had.

The summer days tickled on shortly.

Slowly, but surely Téa and Atem began to heal. One never fully heals from these types of things, but to feel whole again, to push past the sorrow and pain is always attainable.

And Atem and Téa were surely on their way.

Missed me? I has some technical issues and wasn't able to write for a bit, but I'm back now! I'm hoping to finish this story off soon. This was more of a transitionary chapter and I'm excited for what will happen soon :)
