"I'm here." Nix said to Four's back.
"Nix." he greeted her with a tone of surprise after he'd turned to face her, "Shouldn't you be back at the dormitory resting?"
"Who told you that?" she asked, feigning confusion and he stared at her with a 'really?' face.
"Eric." he replied a beat later as he folded his arms across his chest, she noticed that the other initiates on the roof, dauntless born included, had stopped what they were doing and were watching her with Four, "Susie told him you were to rest."
"She advised it." Nix corrected as she glanced around those watching before looking back at him and he raised a brow at her, "Besides, that was about combat training, not weapons handling."
Four shook his head before he looked around the roof briefly, everyone that had been watching quickly went back to training, "You were injured Nix...badly."
"I'm aware of that." she muttered.
Four stared at her for a long moment and when she couldn't take it anymore she sighed in frustration.
"Oh come on Four, shooting at some targets is hardly going to cause me anymore damage is it?" she said and she saw him exhale, "Please let me take part...I don't want to fall behind."
"Fine." he eventually said and she smiled at him, "But I'll be checking on you regularly."
"There's no need." she replied and started to head towards where Andie was.
"I'll be checking on you regularly." he repeated firmly, halting her, she stared at him briefly before giving him a reluctant nod.
She turned and headed for Andie again, smiling as she did and as she was approaching her, the girl was shaking her head, "You're kidding right?"
Her smile disappeared and she let out a sigh, "Not you as well."
"You're supposed to be in bed, Nix." Andie replied.
"And I'll tell you what I told Four, it's only weapons handling...that's hardly going to hurt me." she said with a grin but Andie didn't return it.
"Hey Nix." Kit said as he suddenly appeared, be slung his arm over her shoulder and she gave him a slightly nervous smile as the conversation she'd had with Eric about him popped into her head.
"Hi." she replied and he beamed down at her.
"Thought you were supposed to be taking it easy?" he asked her and she let out an annoyed groan which caused him to remove his arm from her and hold both his hands up in mock defence with a grin, "Sorry."
"No, don't be." she replied with a sigh then said, "I'm just fed up with everyone saying that I should be resting."
"It's only because we saw the fight." he said with a smile followed by a shrug, "You know?"
"Yeah." she said with a nod, "But lying in a bed when I know I'm able to train is silly...that won't win me any points."
"Forget about the score board for a minute and think about you." Andie snapped and folded her arms across her chest.
"I am." Nix replied, choosing to ignore the 'forget about the score board' comment, if Andie was in her position she'd be the exact same, "That's why I'm up here, now come on, we'd best get shooting."
"Hey stiff." a voice called out and Nix turned around, Sam was walking towards her with a grin on his face.
"Ugh." Andie groaned with an angry glare on her face then pointed her gun at him, "You've got some nerve."
"Whoa there." Sam said to Andie then looked at Nix, "Think you could, call off your guard dog for a second?"
"Dog?!" Andie demanded and he started to laugh.
"I didn't mean it like that...no offence." he replied then looked at Nix again with raised brows, she waited a beat then stepped to the side, Andie protested of course but Nix shook her head at the girl and indicated for Sam to follow her, he did and when they were face to face just a little away from Andie he smiled at her, "So, no hard feelings right?"
"No hard feelings?" she asked after a moment had passed, was he serious?
"That's your idea of an apology?" she asked after he'd nodded.
"Who said anything about an apology?" he asked with that smile still on his face, "Look, we're both hoping to pass the first stage yeah? And to do that, we need to fight each other and WIN...that's all I was doing."
"Yeah, my fractured ribs know that." she replied dryly and he made an 'ooh' face.
"I did that?" he asked.
"You did that." she confirmed.
"Oops." he replied after a beat then gave her a shrug, she scoffed and started to walk away but he he grabbed her upper arm and halted her as he said 'whoa there', she looked at his hand then up at him and he waited a beat before asking, "So...we cool?"
"No. We're not." she replied.
"Why?" he asked with a frown.
"Because. You kicked my ass around that ring." she told him.
"Yeah, I already told you why." he said and she held a hand up to stop him saying anything else, wisely, he kept his mouth shut then gestured for her to continue.
"You hurt me and enjoyed it." she stated and at first he nodded then shook his head with slightly furrowed brows.
"I didn't enjoy hurting you." he said.
"Yeah you did." she replied.
"I enjoyed the fight." he told her.
"Yeah, that's what I just said." she replied with a scoff and he shook his head.
"Not because it was you, I didn't enjoy HURTING you, I just...enjoyed the fight. I like fighting." he said then grinned and a beat passed before he added, "Sometimes I get...carried away."
"Clearly." she replied then scoffed again, this time in a slightly amused way.
"So, forgiven?" he asked after a moment and she narrowed her eyes at him.
"That depends." she replied.
He let out a sigh then smiled as he asked, "On?"
"Are you going to apologize to me?" she asked and he made a face like he was thinking about it.
"I don't apologize. For anything." he told her with a shake of his head, "But just know, I DO feel bad about it, and...I mean that."
She wasn't sure if the last part was sarcasm or not but regardless she said with a sweet smile, "If that was true, you'd, APOLOGIZE."
"Come on stiff, really? I have a reputation to uphold." he teased and she couldn't help the chuckle that left her lips, he then sighed dramatically and said, "Okay you know what, fine...I'm sorry for what happened in the fight, there, you happy?"
"I am actually, apology accepted." she replied with a smile and he grinned then held his hand out, she took it and they shook.
"Great." he said then made an amused sound, "And if you ever want some extra help with training...you know, it's the least I could do."
"I might take you up on that." she replied with a nod and he began moving backwards, pointing at her as he did and then he turned and headed for his friends, she turned and found Andie frowning and Kit, who was stood beside her, didn't look too pleased either. "What?" she asked them both.
"You didn't buy that did you?" Andie asked.
"Which part?" she replied.
"All of it." Andie said exasperated and Nix sighed.
"Life's too short to hold grudges, I'd rather just get on with things Andie." she said then looked at Kit, "And what's up with you?"
"You shouldn't have let him off so easily...he really hurt you today and it could have been worse." he replied.
"I've not let him off easily." Nix said then glanced over her shoulder at Sam who was talking with his friends as he trained, she looked back at Andie and Kit.
"Seamed like you did." Andie said and Kit agreed.
"Can we focus on training now? It's done and dusted, he apologized, let's just leave it at that." Nix said with a sigh.
"It seams that way, I think he's just waiting till you let your guard down and then he'll finish you off." Andie replied and Nix rolled her eyes and refrained from telling the girl to not be so dramatic.
"If that ever happens you can say I told you so." she said and Andie stared at her.
"This isn't a joke Nix." she said.
"Am I laughing?" Nix asked.
O
"Hey Sam." Nix said as she walked towards him, Four had just told them they were done for the day.
"Yes stiff?" he asked once he'd turned and saw it was her.
"When we were talking earlier, I forgot something." she replied.
"Oh?" he said as a grin formed on his face and when she nodded he asked, "What was it?"
Her reply was to knee him in the groin hard and he groaned loudly at the impact then doubled over slightly, some of the boys that were with him laughed and others protested angrily at what she'd done, one even went as far as to try and shove her away but Sam held an arm out and stopped him before he could fully put force into it.
"Leave her." he said in a strained voice.
"Nix." Four's voice called out and she looked up to see him heading for her with a look of disapproval on his face, when he was a few feet from her he stopped and said, "I saw that."
"You and everyone else." she replied immediately and he fixed a glare on her, she then cleared her throat, "Uh, what I meant to say was...really?"
Four rolled his eyes, "Really."
"It was an accident." she replied innocently.
Sam huffed out a laugh and she looked at him, he then grinned and looked over at Four whilst he straightened up to his full height, he inhaled deeply and exhaled before he spoke, "Yeah uh, I just...walked into her."
"He just walked into me." Nix told Four in a 'what can you do?' kind of way.
Four sighed with a shake of his head then walked away from them, Nix watched him go briefly then looked at Sam who was still grinning, "Now, we're cool."
Sam laughed at what she said and she walked away from him to meet a grinning Andie where she was waiting for her by the door to the roof.
