"No. We are not having Jane next to Mark and Marisa." Miranda said as she and Erin are going over the table seating for the reception.

"We are getting married in a month and why in the world did we put this off for the last minute?" Erin asked.

"I have no idea." Heather looks at the seating arrangement and fixes a few spots. The engaged couple look at the seating chart and it was perfect.

"Huh. Looks like a seventeen year old did our seating arrangement for us." Erin said.

"Thank you." Miranda said to Heather.

"You're welcome." Heather said.

"When does Christian get in?" Erin asked as Heather grabs her backpack.

"A week before the wedding. Can you make sure that no one scares him off? Please?"

"I can't promise you anything, but I will do my best."

"Thank you."

"Don't forget that you have PT." Miranda said as she stands up and puts her service weapon into the holder on her belt.

"I know. I've been going every day for two hours. Bye." Heather said then heads out. Miranda sighs and puts on her uniform jacket since she has a meeting.

"I have to meet with the DA." Erin said.

"For what?" Miranda asked.

"I don't know. Said that it was important."

"Hopefully nothing too big. Anyway, I gotta go. Compstat can't wait forever." They tenderly kiss.

"In one month, you will be my wife." Miranda said softly.

"And you will be mine." They kiss again then Miranda heads out.

"But there is one more thing." Erin said a few hours later while meeting with her father after meeting with the DA about a possible investigation into certain detectives in the NYPD.

"Miranda is on the list as well." Frank said then looks at her.

"Her entire squad since they have a 97 percent conviction rate and after what happened to Detective Moore, the DA doesn't want to take chances." He sighs.

"Then you should know something about Miranda." Erin scrunches up her eyebrows.

"What?" Erin asked.

Miranda and Nick get off the elevator and loosen their ties after meeting with Compstat about a double rape-homicide they worked on and got a conviction on.

"Damn." Nick said.

"I told you that Compstat is no joke. Now, I'm slowly starting to panic since they're now looking at every single case that we've done since I took over as CO." She said as Lisa walks over to them.

"Erin's inside your office. She looks pretty pissed off." Lisa said and Miranda sighs.

"Great. Just what I need. A pissed off Compstat and now a pissed off fiancée. Thanks." Miranda walks into her office and sees Erin relaxing on the couch. Erin looks over as Miranda hangs up her jacket.

"This a professional visit or a personal one? I would love the personal visit over the professional one." Miranda said.

"You're investigating Amanda Harris and the Chief of Police?" Erin asked and Miranda looks at her as she rolls up her sleeves to her white dress shirt.

"Who told you that?"

"My father. Miranda, you promised me that you wouldn't keep secrets from me after what happened with the Blue Templar."

"I was ordered not to tell you by your father. Why would he tell you about this?"

"Because you are possibly under investigation by my boss. You and your entire squad. I shouldn't be even telling you this."

"Hence why the grilling during Compstat. Can anything else go wrong?" Miranda asked then another ADA walks into the room.

"Alex. I thought we were meeting at the courthouse in the morning?" Miranda asked her.

"The judge called an emergency hearing while you were in Compstat." Alex said.

"Oh no."

"He is granting the defense's motion." Alex hands over the paperwork to Miranda.

"What motion?" Erin asked.

"Who granted the motion?" Miranda asked as she is reading the approval.

"Hunter." Alex said.

"He's got it out for me and my squad."

"What motion?" Erin asked again.

"The suspect is walking on a technicality that we forced him into confessing when we didn't. Did Hunter and the defense attorney check the tapes?"

"The defense attorney had them threw out. Gotta love Jack Boyle." Miranda sighs. She looks at the calendar and sees a date circled with a heart on it, which was the following day.

"Hon?" Erin asked and Miranda looks at them.

"Are you alright?" Alex asked.

"Yeah. We have the DNA evidence that matches the suspect, if Boyle didn't have it thrown out." Miranda said.

"Still in."

"We still have that. So the confession is thrown out, but since the case didn't go to trial, we can still arrest him and hold him until the trial, if you can get a remanded."

"Shouldn't be a problem, as long as Hunter isn't the judge on the case."

"Nick." The lieutenant walks to the office and looks at her.

"Go pick up Wilson. The confession was thrown out, but we can still arrest him since the DNA evidence and fingerprints point to him. I don't want bastard slipping again on a technicality, so you and your partner do everything by the book." She said.

"Yes ma'am." He said then walks out of the squad room with his partner.

"Hope you're in for a long night, Alex." Miranda said as she hangs up her hat.

"This have to do with the outcome of the Compstat? Or how my boss is investigating the entire squad?" Alex asked.

"Bingo. I have enough crap to deal with. I'll be lucky enough to make to to my wedding in a month."

"Well, you have to be there since I'm the one marrying you." Erin said, trying to joke with Miranda, but she wasn't having any of it.

"Not with the jokes today, Erin."

Frank looks over and sees Miranda walking into the office the following morning and he motions for the chair in front of him and she sits down.

"Sir, I'm willing to resign from the NYPD." She said and he sighs.

"That won't be necessary." He said as he walks to the window.

"I don't understand why the DA is coming after me and my squad. We do everything by the book and done all of the paperwork."

"I know. I spoke to the DA." He looks at her.

"If this is about Erin and I getting married, I will hand in my resignation right now because I already lost Erin once and I'm not going to lose her again."

"It's not about that. He was worried about the 97 percent conviction rate."

"Last time I checked, our squad had the highest conviction rate in the entire city, which is supposed to be a good thing."

"It is a great thing for our department and city. He's making sure that everyone in the squad is doing everything by the book because two days ago, Moore was found dead in his cell."

"And being his former commanding officer, his death falls into my lap."

"I'm doing everything I can to make sure that your squad stays intact." He said.

"But I may get the boot. I'm willing to be the dead man walking for a few days." She said as she stands up and he looks at her.

"I knew you would. I also know that today would have been Will's birthday."

"Yeah. Anyway, I will type up my resignation and wait for the message for me to give it to you." She walks out of the office.

As Erin is making dinner, she looks out of the kitchen window and sees Miranda on the back patio with her forearms on her thighs. She quietly sighs, knowing that Miranda is figuring out what to do with her job.

"How she doing?" Henry asked.

"There's something on her mind, but ever since she found out about the investigation, she has barely spoke a word to me at least." Erin said.

"Will's birthday was yesterday." Frank said and Erin sighs.

"I completely forgot."

"And with it getting closer to the wedding, she's missing her brother. Just like how Joe won't be here as well."

Miranda looks at her phone and presses the green button. She holds the phone up to her ear and sighs.

"I was wondering when I would hear from you." Doug said.

"Sorry Dad. I've been busy." Miranda said.

"I know. I know that you are missing your brother as well."

"If it wasn't for me to take the shortcut to the house, he would still be alive."

"And you also didn't know that a gang war would start up as well. Do you know how proud Will is of you?" He asked.

"Why do I put myself through this every year on his birthday?"

"Because you can't live with the guilt of him dying in your arms."

"Dinner's ready." She hears from the house.

"I gotta go, Dad. I'll see you soon." She said then hangs up the phone and heads inside. She pulls out Erin's chair for her then sits next to her.

Miranda looks at her phone as Danny looks at his and sighs. She stands up, wipes her mouth with her napkin.

"I gotta go." Miranda said as she stands up. She kisses Erin's head and heads out as Danny heads out.

"What do you got?" Danny asked as they walk down the stairs.

"Rape homicide." Miranda said.

"Oh boy."

"And FYI, it's the DA that ordered the investigation. Not your father." She gets into her car and heads out with Danny in the passenger seat.

Erin walks into the bedroom, changes into her pajamas then gets into the bed. She scoots over to Miranda and wraps her arm around her with her cheek against Miranda's, knowing that she's awake.

"You know that I'm here for you, baby." Erin said softly then kisses her shoulder.

"I know." Miranda whispered and holds her wife's hand. She feels the tears building up in her eyes and swallows a lump in her throat.

Miranda ducks for cover behind a dumpster as she pulls Will behind as the gunfire erupts. When the shooting stops, she carefully looks over the dumpster and doesn't see anyone.

"OK. I think we're good." Miranda said softly and looks at Will, who is not moving and is bleeding from his chest.

"Will?" She asked as she gets onto her knees and places her hand on the bullet wound, feeling his blood on her hand.

"Will, wake up. Please wake up." She said as tears fill up in her eyes.

Miranda shoots up in the bed then sits on the edge of it after that memory came faster than she expected. Erin sits up and wraps her arms around Miranda.

"I should have protected him more." Miranda said softly as her eyes fill up with tears.

"There was nothing you could have done, sweetie." Erin said softly and holds Miranda as the captain breaks down.
