Chapter Two: The Sleepover
That evening, Tails and Cosmo were sitting on the couch with a bowl of popcorn, watching funny cartoons.
-ON TV-
"Wh- Let me get this straight, I just won a fidget spinner, from being top of a fan club, and people are eating POISON INSTEAD!?" The monster yelled at the duck.
-TAILS AND COSMO'S P.O.V.-
Tails and Cosmo both laughed. Tails went to reach his hand in the bowl to find out that there was no more popcorn sitting inside of it. "Oh, looks like I gotta make more popcorn!" Tails said. "Okay!" Cosmo said, "That stuff's pretty good."
"Yeah it is! I'll be right back!" Tails walked into in the kitchen to get another bag of popcorn ready, then suddenly, the cell phone that he left on the kitchen counter rang. "Who could be calling at this hour?" Tails questioned to himself. He then picked the phone up and answered it. It was Sonic.
"Hey, bud!" The hedgehog greeted his best friend. "Oh hey, Sonic! Why are ya calling? Is something wrong?" Tails asked. "Yeah, it's...pretty bad." Sonic said in a serious matter. "What's wrong?" Tails said, almost worried.
"...Amy is a very terrible cook. She almost burned the entire house down." Sonic said. "Hey! I heard that!" Amy interfered. She then pulled out her giant Piko Piko hammer in an attempt to hit her blue-quilled crush.
"Yeah, so I just wanted to ask if we could stay at yours for the night? Thanks! Gotta go fast! Bye!" Sonic hung up, almost as quick as he could run.
"Okay...bye...?" Tails grew a funny look on his face as he placed the cell phone back on the kitchen counter.
"Who was that?" Cosmo asked as she entered the kitchen. "Oh, don't worry! That was Sonic, and...to a lesser extent, Amy. Apparently, she was trying to cook something and she...burned it." Tails chuckled nervously. "Well, are they alright?" Cosmo worried for a minute. "Yeah, they're fine! They're coming over for the night, too!"
"Oh, that's great!" Cosmo said excitingly. "We can all have that 'sleepover' thing you were talking about earlier!".
"Yeah! We can play games, watch movies, and have lots of fun!" Tails replied, also feeling excited that his big bro was coming over. Suddenly, someone was knocking on the door. "Oh, looks like they're here!" Cosmo said as she and Tails ran to the door. They opened it to find Sonic and Amy. Amy was still holding her Piko Piko hammer, and Sonic had a red bump on his forehead.
"Sonic, what happened to you?" Tails asked. "He insulted me." Amy said nonchalantly. "Don't worry, Tails. I'm used to it." Sonic said while rubbing the bump with his right hand.
"Okay, then...? Well, do you guys wanna have a sleepover with us?" Tails quickly changed the subject. "Sure, pal!" Sonic replied. "Yeah! I would love to see bonding time between you and your girlfr-".
"Okay! Let's go! What are we waitin' for?" Tails blushed as he quickly interrupted Amy.
Ten minutes later...
Tails gathered Cosmo, Sonic, and Amy, then they all sat on the floor in the living room. "Okay, maybe we should start with a game." Tails said. "Amy?"
"YES! Oh, I mean, uh...Okay then, sure..." Amy got very excited, because she wanted to play the game that she's been wanting to play for literal years, especially ever since she met Sonic. That game being...'Truth Or Dare'.
"What's 'Truth Or Dare'?" Cosmo asked Amy, since she didn't know too many games expect for the ones she played with Tails. Amy quickly explained the rules to her. "Okay, got it?" Amy said. "Um, I think so." Cosmo replied.
"Well, I'm just gonna go out into the kitchen, and make us some popcorn-" Sonic started to get up, since he knew where it was gonna go. "Oh, no you don't!" Amy quickly grabbed his arm, bringing him back down to the floor. "Aah!" Sonic exclaimed as he fell. He then looked at Amy, and grunted angrily. "I'll make a deal with ya, Sonic. If you play this with us, I will get you...ten chili dogs for tomorrow!" Amy tried to bribe him, since she knew that the one thing Sonic absolutely could not resist was the aroma and taste of a good chili dog. "Mmm...fine." Sonic grumbled, and he crossed his arms like a child would.
"Tails, truth or dare?" Amy asked. "Um...Truth." Tails replied. "Do you like Cosmo?" Amy came straight in for the kill. Tails blushed almost as hard as the color of Knuckles' skin. "Ooh..." Sonic said tauntingly, not helping the situation. "Uh...yeah. B-But as a friend! I swear!" Tails started to become extremely nervous and sweaty, hoping that the feeling of being put on the spot would end. "Eh, good enough for me!" Amy replied happily as she did her deed.
"Alright, Sonic...my turn!" Tails said with an impy grin. "Truth or Dare?" He asked the blue hedgehog. "Uh...Dare- No, wait!" Sonic replied nervously. "You can't second-guess, Sonic!" Tails taunted. "That's in the rules." Cosmo backed him up. "Ugh...f-fine...What is it...?" Sonic asked nervously. He was now the one who was sweating. "Kiss...Amy!" Tails got into full imp mode.
"Uh...uh...a-are you sure I can't second-guess?" Sonic asked nervously. "Just do it, Sonic." Cosmo smiled. The blue hedgehog started to shiver nervously as he slowly turned around until his eyes met up with Amy's.
"I'll make it fifteen if you do." Amy said with a smirk. Sonic closed his eyes and held his breath. He was then kissing her lips, but he didn't know it. He slowly went from having an afraid, squinted face to a relaxed, happy face. It lasted for about ten seconds until he let go.
"Whoa..." Sonic and Tails exclaimed at the same time. "That was shocking...you're actually a really good kisser there, Ames." Sonic said to Amy. "Are you saying that you used to think I was a BAD kisser!? Amy started freaking out. In a panic, Sonic quickly kissed her again, this time it lasted for only five seconds. "Okay, I forgive you." She swooned.
"Alright, Cosmo. Truth or Dare?" Sonic asked her. "I think I'll do a 'dare'." Cosmo replied. This time, Sonic had an impy face as he pulled out his phone. "Uh, S-Sonic...wh-what are you doing?" Tails said nervously. Sonic grinned as put on a one-hour mix of romantic music.
"Dance with Tails." Sonic said in an impy matter. While it was playing, Sonic got up to grab a can of grape soda from Tails' fridge. When he came back in, they were dancing as if they were at a prom. "Ah, vengeance sure is tasteful, isn't it, Tails?" Sonic taunted as he was sipping the soda. "Very funny, Sonic. Ha ha ha." Tails said sarcastically. And although he didn't want to admit it, he enjoyed dancing with the girl of his dreams, and wished it had lasted forever.
Later that night...
Sonic and Amy were resting on the patio outside looking up at the stars, and Tails and Cosmo were sitting on the couch tucked in a blanket watching more TV.
-ON TV-
"If you are looking for ransom I can tell you I don't have money," The man said. "but what I do have are a very particular set of skills. Skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you."
-TAILS AND COSMO'S P.O.V.-
Cosmo was scared, Tails held on to her tight and said "Don't be scared, I got you.". She was still scared, but she put on a brave face to impress Tails.
-ON TV-
The man continued. "I will look for you, I will find you, and I will kill you."
-TAILS AND COSMO'S P.O.V.-
Tails turned the TV off as he felt very tired. He walked back over to the couch where Cosmo had fallen asleep, and covered himself back up with her. He then wrapped his two tails around Cosmo to give her extra warmth.
About a few minutes later, Sonic and Amy came back inside the house to tell Tails that they were heading back home. "Hey, bro, we're just about ready to go-" Sonic saw Tails and Cosmo sleeping on the couch together, hugging each other.
"Um, should we...bring them upst-" Sonic turned to Amy. "Nah, let 'em go. They need the sleep." Amy said quietly. "Okay...you just wanted them to stay there because you like them bonding, don't you?" Sonic said as they were leaving. "Yep." Amy replied. Sonic opened the front door and closed it behind them as quietly as he could to not wake Tails and Cosmo up.
EPILOGUE
Tails woke up to check the clock that was by the lamp on the table next to him. The clock read "4:45AM". "Should we go upstairs to sleep?" Tails thought to himself quietly. "Nah." He then curled his tails back around Cosmo. She smiled as Tails went back to sleep.
