I don't own Alta.

Great. You're back said Aang.

What's for dinner? Asks Aang.

We've got a few options said Sokka.

First, round nuts and some kind of oval-shaped nuts said Sokka.

And some rock-shaped nuts that might just rock said Sokka.

Dig in said Sokka.

Seriously, what else have you got? Asks Katara,

They hear a rumbling noise.

What was that? Asks Sokka.

The noise sounded again.

It's coming from over there said Yuka.

Shouldn't we run away from huge booms, not towards them? Asks Sokka.

They go to the source of the noise and it's a young Earthbender.

An Earthbender said Katara.

Let's go meet him said Aang.

He looks dangerous so we better approach cautiously said Sokka.

Sokka, relax he looks like he's around our age but I do agree with the cautious thing said Yuka.

Hello there, I'm Katara said Katara.

What's your name? Asks Katara.

Nice to meet you said Aang.

I just wanted to say hi said Katara.

Hey, that guy's got to be running somewhere said Aang.

Maybe we're near a village said Aang.

And I bet that village has a market said Aang.

Which means no nuts for dinner said Katara.

Hey, I worked hard to get those nuts said Sokka.

Yeah, I hate them too said Sokka.

Scene change

Great hat said Aang.

I'll trade you some nuts for it said Aang.

Hey said Katara,

Scene change

Boy: hi mom.

Where have you been Haru? Asks his mom.

You're late said his mom.

Get started on your chores said his mom.

Hey, you're that kid said Katara.

Ah said Haru.

Why did you run away before? Asks Katara.

Uh, you must have me confused with some other kid said Haru.

No, she doesn't said Aang.

We saw you Earthbending said Yuka.

They saw you doing what? Asks Haru's mom.

They're crazy mom said Haru.

I mean look how they're dressed said Haru.

You know how dangerous that is said his mom.

You know what would happen if they caught you Earthbending said his mom.

Man: open up.

Fire Nation. Act natural said Sokka.

What do you want? Said Haru's mom.

I've already paid you this week said Haru's mom.

Soldier: the tax just doubled.

Soldier: we wouldn't want an accident would we?.

Soldier: fire is sometimes so hard to control.

Soldier: you can keep the copper ones.

Nice guy said Sokka.

How long has the Fire Nation been here? Asks Yuka.

Five years said Haru's mom.

Fire Lord Ozai uses our town's coal mines to fuel his ships said Haru's mom.

Their thugs said Haru.

They steal from us said Haru.

And everyone here is too much of a coward to do anything about it said Haru.

Quiet Haru said his mom.

Don't talk like that said his mom.

But Haru's an Earthbender said Katara.

He can help said Katara.

Earthbending is forbidden said Haru's mom.

It's caused nothing but misery for this village said Haru's mom.

He must never use his abilities said Haru's mom.

How can you say that? Asks Katara.

Haru has a gift said Katara,

Asking him not to earthbend is like asking me not to waterbend said Katara,

It's a part of who we are said Katara

You don't understand said Haru's mother.

I understand that Haru can help you fight back said Katara.

What can the Fire Nation do to you that they haven't done already? Asks Katara.

They could take Haru away Like they took his father said Haru's mother.

But said Katara.

Katara just drop it if they want to live that way then that's their business said Yuka.

He walks out of the room.

Yuka said Katara.

Scene change

My mom said you can sleep here tonight, but you should leave in the morning said Haru.

Thanks. I'll make sure Appa doesn't eat all your hay said Aang.

Aang notices Yuka in the corner.

Yuka are you ok? Asks Aang.

Yeah, I just hate seeing people use Firebending that way said Yuka.

A bit later.

I'm going for a walk said Yuka.

After walking around for a bit Yuka comes upon Katara and Haru trying to help an old man.

Yuka helps Haru hold back the dirt and brace the frame of the mine.

Yuka said Haru.

Less talk more holding the dirt said Yuka.

It's not working, we have to get help said Katara.

There's no time – pull harder said Haru.

Haru YuKa, there's a way you guys can help said Katara

I can't said Haru.

Are you nuts said Yuka.

Guys, there's no one around to see you, it's the only way said Katara.

Guys, you did it said Katara.

Katara get away from him, he's a Firebender said Haru.

It's ok Haru Yuka would never hurt anyone said Katara.

It's ok Katara I knew I would have to face something like this eventually said Yuka.

Haru I understand if you want me to leave the village said Yuka.

What so you knew he was a Firebender?! All of you? Asks Haru.

Yeah, we did but I said Yuka would never hurt anybody on purpose with his Bending, in fact, he rarely uses it unless absolutely necessary well I mean apart from starting our campfires said Katara.

Haru I know the Fire Nation has hurt a lot of people and destroyed many lives and families but I can tell you I'm not with the Fire Lord, in fact, don't even know if I was born in the Fire Nation homeland or one of the colonies said Yuka.

How could you not know? Said Haru.

You see six years ago my father found Yuka in a lifeboat barely alive and when he woke up we found he had amnesia he can't remember anything before we found him said Katara.

Really? Said Haru.

Yeah, the first ten years of my life are blank said Yuka.

Ok, but can I at least tell my mom said Haru.

Haru the fewer people that know about my Bending is better said Yuka.

It must be hard to not be able to practice your element said Haru.

It is but I know that not everyone will see Firebending in a good way it's just caused to be much damage, pain, and suffering said Yuka.

But the way you Firebend wasn't like other Firebender it was actually kind of cool to watch said Haru.

Katara seeing Yuka is actually making a friend leaves the two boys alone.

Thanks, I practiced with Katara in the south pole said Yuka.

Why? I mean she's a Waterbender said Haru.

Because she was the only other bender in the tribe said Yuka.

Really I thought the south pole was full of Waterbenders said Haru.

No that's our sister tribe the northern water tribe the southern water tribe has been raided by the Fire Nation for decades and all the Waterbenders have been taken away sad Yuka.

I'm sorry to hear that said Haru.

Don't be this was before I was adopted into the tribe said Yuka.

Scene change

It was so brave of Haru and Yuka to be there to help that old man.

You must have really inspired them said Aang.

I guess so said Katara.

Everyone should get some sleep said Sokka.

We're leaving at dawn said Sokka.

Dawn? Can't we sleep in for once? Asks Katara.

Absolutely not! This village is crawling with Fire Nation troops. If they discover you're here, Aang, we'll be eating fireballs for breakfast. Good night said Sokka.

I'd rather eat fireballs than nuts said Katara.

What about Yuka? Asks Aang.

He looks like Fire Nation so they'll probably think he's one of them and leave him alone said Katara.

Good night said Sokka.

Scene change

So you don't remember anything of your life before the water tribe? Asks Haru.

Well, to tell you the truth in the last couple of months I've been periodically having these headaches followed by a flashback of my younger self whenever someone says or does something specific said Yuka.

Sounds like you're regaining your memories of your old life said Haru.

Old Man: That's them! That's the earthbender and the firebender!

The soldiers pushes the old man out of the way and approached Haru and Yuka.

The boys go without a fight.

Scene change.

They arrive at the Prison rig.

Warden: so we have more Earthbenders and a traitor.

I'm not a traitor said Yuka.

Warden: take him to the water room.

Scene change

Katara? Said Haru.

Haru, Yuka said Katara.

What are you doing here? Asks Yuka.

It's my fault you two were captured. I came to rescue you both said Katara.

So, you got yourself arrested? Said Yuka.

It was the only way to find you guy said Katara.

You got guts, Katara, I'll give you that said Haru.

Come one, there's someone I want you to meet said Haru.

Katara, this is my father, Tyro. Dad, this is Katara said Haru.

It's an honor to meet you said Katara.

Have some dinner, Katara said Tyro

Eruhh said Katara.

It's not as bad as it looks said Katara.

Erahh said Katara.

It's still pretty bad though said, Tyro.

Prisoner: Tyro, the prisoners are complaining there aren't enough blankets to go around.

I'll talk to the guards. In the meantime, make sure the elderly are taken care of. The rest of us will simply have to hope for warmer weather said, Tyro

If you don't mind me asking, what's your escape plan? Asks Katara.

Excuse me? Said, Tyro.

You know, the plan to get everyone off the rig? What is it? Mutiny? Sabotage? Said Katara.

The plan? The plan is to survive - wait out this war. Hope that one day some of us can get back home and forget this ever happened said, Tyro.

How can you say that? You sound like you've already given up said Katara.

Katara, I admire your courage and I envy your youth, but people's lives are at stake here. The Warden is a ruthless man, and he won't stand for any rebellion. I'm sorry, but we're powerless said, Tyro

We'll see about that said Katara,

Katara said Yuka.

Earthbenders! You don't know me, but I know of you. Every child of my water tribe village was rocked to sleep with stories of the brave Earth Kingdom and the courageous earthbenders who guard its borders. Some of you may think that the Fire Nation has made you powerless. Yes, they have taken away your ability to bend, but they can't take away your courage and it is your courage they should truly fear! Because it runs deeper than any mine you've been forced to dig, any ocean that keeps you far from home. It is the strength of your hearts that make you who you are, hearts that will remain unbroken when all rock and stone has eroded away. The time to fight back is now! I can tell you the Avatar has returned! So remember your courage, earthbenders, let us fight for our freedom said Katara.

Scene change

Your 12 hours are up, where's Haru and Yuka? We've got to get out of here said Sokka.

I'm right here said Yuka.

I can't said Katara.

We don't have much time, there are guards everywhere. Get on said Sokka.

Katara, what's wrong? Asks Aang.

I'm not leaving. I'm not giving up on these people said Katara.

What do you mean you're not leaving!? Said Sokka.

We can't abandon these people. There has to be a way to help them said Katara.

Maybe she's right. What do you say, Sokka? Said Aang.

I say you're both crazy said Sokka.

Last chance, we need to leave – now said Sokka.

No said Katara

I hate when you get like this said Sokka.

Come on, we better hide before we're spotted said Yuka.

We don't have much time. What are we gonna do? Asks Sokka.

I wish I knew how to make a hurricane said Aang.

The Warden would run away and we'd steal his keys said Aang.

Wouldn't he just take his keys with him? Asks Sokka

I'm just tossing ideas around said Aang.

I tried talking the earthbenders into fighting back, but it didn't work. If there was just a way to help them help themselves said Katara.

For that, they'd need some kind of earth, or some rock... something they can bend said Sokka.

Not gonna happen this entire place is made of metal said Yuka.

No, it's not. Look at the smoke. I bet they're burning coal – In other words, earth said Aang.

It's almost dawn, we're running out of time said Yuka.

Are you sure this is gonna work? Asks Katara.

It should. These vents reminded me of our little trick back at the village said Sokka.

We're gonna do the same thing but on a much bigger scale said Sokka.

There's a huge deposit of coal at the base of the silo, and the whole system is ventilated. Aang closed off all the vents except one. When he does his airbending, the coal only has one place to go – right back here said Sokka.

Soldier: There's the intruder!

Stay back, I'm warning you said Sokka.

Katara stop! You can't win this fight said, Tyro.

Warden: Listen to him well, child. You're one mistake away from dying where you stand.

Here's your chance, earthbenders! Take it! Your fate is in your own hands said Katara.

Warden: Hahaha! Foolish girl! You thought a few inspirational words and some coal would change these people? Look at these blank, hopeless faces. Their spirits were broken a long time ago. Oh? But you still believe in them? How sweet. They're a waste of your energy, little girl. You've failed.

The Warden turns to walk back into the rig. As he does, a lump of coal hits him in the back of the head. He turns in anger.

Haru with prisoners standing behind him, twirling some lumps of coal above his raised left hand. His expression is severe. the Warden, who launches a blast of fire at the boy. The gout of flame is about to engulf Haru, who braces for death when it is blocked by a wall of coal.

Tyro is in an earthbending stance, who has clearly stepped forward to protect his son.

Warden: Show no mercy.

The Fire Nation line charges forward, unleashing a wall of flame.

Tyro and the three nearest earthbenders, including Haru, block it with a huge wall of coal. The coal absorbs the flames.

For the Earth Kingdom, attack said Tyro.

Tyro slams the palms of his fists on the deck of the rig, throwing the wall of coal forward towards the Fireline.

The Fire Soldiers deflect some of the rocks with flame.

One on one the earthbenders block fire attacks with coal shields and knock out firebender by striking them with huge lumps of coal thrown at high speed. Heaps of burning coal now litter the deck.

Katara, Sokka,Yuka, and Aang are rushing forward.

A Fire Nation soldier enters the screen, but Sokka cuts off the head of his spear with his boomerang and throws the spearhead with a small shaft still attached to it to Momo who is flying close overhead. Momo then collects spears as they are thrown by Fire Nation soldiers, rendering them harmless.

Tyro and Haru raise a huge amount of coal and then mash it between them to create a and Tyro throw the boulder at the door into the rig. It blasts a boulder-shaped hole in the door.

Get to the ship! We'll hold them off said, Tyro.

Warden: Do not let them escape!

The Warden rallies a few of his troops and they begin to barrage the exit with flame.

Aang, Katara, Yuka, and Sokka trying to exit when they see the flames hit the wall in front of them, they turn and Aang airbends a small tornado into existence, the end of which is aimed at the firebenders.

Guys, throw me some coal said Aang.

Sokka and Katara start dropping chunks of coal into the top of the little whirlwind, which accelerates down the wind tube and exit at high speed towards the Warden's men. Then all get knocked down.

Tyro and two other earthbenders who earthbend the entire coal dump, with the Warden and all his men on it, out of over the open water.

Warden: No, please! I can't swim!

Don't worry, I hear cowards float said, Tyro.

Tyro drops them all into the ocean below.

Scene change to several Fire Nation ships, now under the command of the former prisoners, steaming away from the rig. Appa with Sokka and Aang swim next to the point ship.

Katara, Tyro, and Haru are on the deck of the point ship. Katara beams, looking back at the prison they leave behind.

I want to thank you for saving me. For saving us said Haru.

All it took was a little coal said Katara.

It wasn't the coal, Katara, it was you said Yuka.

Thank you for helping me find my courage, Katara, of the water tribe. My family and everyone here owe you much said, Tyro.

So, I guess you're going home now? Asks Katara.

Yes, to take back my village. To take back ALL of our villages! The Fire Nation will regret the day they set foot on our land said, Tyro.

Come with us said Haru.

I can't. Your mission is to take back your home. Ours is to get Aang to the North Pole said Katara.

That's him, isn't it? The Avatar said Haru.

Yup said Yuka.

Katara, thank you for bringing my father back to me. I never thought I'd see him again. I only wish there was some way...said Haru.

I know said Katara.

My mother's necklace! It's gone said Katara.
