Hopefully chapter 7 will be soon-ish? and please appreciate that I wrote half of this in drag cuz I had to stop filming stuff cuz my phone died!

Over the next few days Yaz spent as much time as possible hidden away in her room, she had to be careful not to raise any suspicions from her parents, but it seemed that they didn't want her around anymore than she wanted to be around them.

Each morning Yaz was driven to work by her father; even there she couldn't escape the influence of her parents, with her father's friends keeping a beady eye on her throughout the day, so that even on her lunch breaks she couldn't sneak out to see the Doctor. Instead she'd eat her lunch in the breakroom, half listening to the chatter going on around her. Then at the end of the day her father would be there waiting to drive her home. But Yaz didn't let this lockdown get to her though, because she knew that hidden away in her room was the secret phone, and thankfully it seemed to have an undying battery.

As soon as she was home she would shower to wash away the days stress like always, silently have dinner with her family, before disappearing into her room for the evening where she would watch Netflix or read a book until she heard her parents clattering around on their way to bed. After leaving ten minutes to ensure they had truly turned in for the night, Yaz would retrieve the phone and spend the rest of the evening chatting quietly to the Doctor. They talked about the events of the day and what sorts of people they had had to deal with, and as Yaz would feel herself getting tired she would ask the Doctor to tell her one of her tales, or explain something interesting to her. By the end of it Yaz would be drifting off and would sleepily say goodnight to the Doctor, before curling up and falling soundly asleep.

Even if her parents had managed to stop her from seeing the Doctor, they had been unsuccessful at stopping them communicating, if anything they were talking more each day than before. The fact that Yaz still seemed relatively upbeat, despite her current circumstances, had lead her parents to believe that the issue of her being gay was on its way to being fixed, simply because she was no longer being influenced by people like the Doctor.

All too soon it was Thursday.

When evening began to roll in Yaz reluctantly donned the dress her mother had chosen, and carefully applied makeup. Shortly before six there was a knock at the door, Amir was here to pick her up. Feeling like she had little choice Yaz was waved off by her parents, who were pleased to see her in the care of the young man. Their walk to the restaurant was slightly awkward, Amir talked a lot about himself, leaving Yaz to zone in and out of what he was saying.

Once seated at the restaurant, Amir's attention moved to the menu, which he stared intently at for a good ten minutes or so. Yaz didn't mind though, at least it was a break from his bragging about his job and how he was the best there, despite having only recently started. After their orders were placed, he asked Yaz a few basic questions about herself, not seeming interested in what she was saying or asking any follow up questions. Instead he started chattering on about a time his mate had had a run in with the police, seeming to think it the part where his friend punched one of the officers was hilarious. Yaz couldn't help thinking to herself that even if she was straight, she would find Amir just as bad a date.

Thankfully once their food arrived, he quietened up. Once the meal was done Amir insisted on them moving to the bar where he began drinking a variety of spirits; an activity that lasted a few hours. Any time Yaz would make an effort to leave he'd tell her that they had to have one more drink, and Yaz knowing that her parents would be hearing all about the date from Amir's parents, thought it was best to indulge him as best as possible. However, after the fours 'just one more drink' Yaz had had enough and put her foot down, insisting that it was time they left.

Upon standing, Amir wobbled a bit and put his arm about Yaz's waist, an action which caused her to tense up, but she figured she'd let him do it for the walk home, and then she'd never have to see him again. Once walking, Amir continued to chatter on, although his words were a little more slurred now, and Yaz didn't pay much attention to what he was saying, until he suddenly pulled Yaz into a side street. Her first thought was that he was going to be sick, but she felt herself being pushed up against the wall, Amir's hands on her hips, using his weight to keep her there. She squirmed, trying to get free of him, meanwhile he was spouting some nonsense about how they had really connected, and he could tell she was into him. Then to Yaz's horror, he kissed her, forcing his tongue into her mouth, she tried again to push him off, but she couldn't get her arms at the right angle to push hard enough. Feeling one of his hands begin to snake up her thigh, she twisted her body, managing to push him off enough to stumble away from the wall.

With surprisingly quick reactions considering the amount of alcohol he'd consumed, Amir grabbed her wrist and tried to pull her back to him.

"C'mon baby, no need to play hard to get" he said in what Yaz could only assume was meant to be a seductive tone, as she kept her body out of his reach.

"Look, Amir, I'm sorry to tell you this but any connection you think there is, there isn't. I'm gay, my parents made me go on this date with you. I'm sorry." There was a sense of urgency to her voice, she really hoped that Amir would be understanding, and they could go their separate ways. He didn't respond immediately, it was like the cogs in his brain were whirring, processing what she'd said.

Suddenly she felt his grip on her wrist tighten painfully, and he yanked he towards him, but there was nothing playful about it now.

"You mean you're a fucking queer?" the slur had gone, replaced by malice as he spat the words at her. Yaz felt her breathing quicken, her mind racing, trying to figure out how to get out of this. Before she had a change to respond, she felt his fist connect with the side of her face, her mind lagging a few seconds behind so it wasn't until she had hit the floor that she fully felt the pain of the impact. Amir was looming over her, he leant down and Yaz couldn't tell what he was going to do next, but she wasn't going to wait to find out. Her police training kicked in and after delivering a hard kick to his stomach with the heel of her foot, she scrambled up and ran, hearing him shout a flurry of abuse after her. She didn't have time to stop and think, she just ran, despite feeling blood trickling from her nose and tears blurring her vision before spilling down her cheeks.

Her body finally came to a stop and Yaz instantly recognised the door, banging loudly with the tears still running down her face. She prayed that she'd get an answer and not have to return home, she couldn't deal with that right now. Thankfully, moments late the door opened, revealing the Doctor, dressing in striped pyjamas, hair messy, and yawning.

The second she saw Yaz she snapped awake and panicked.

"Oh my god, Yaz are you okay?" Concern filling her voice as she wrapped her arms protectively around Yaz, not caring about the blood, snot, and tears that were dripping from her face. Yaz didn't respond, she just wrapped her arms around the Doctor and buried her head in her shoulder, letting the sobs shake though her body.

Chapter summary: Yaz continues to talk to the Doctor in the evenings, and even though life is kinda miserable, it makes things better. She then has to go on the date with Amir, and he's self-centered and a bit of an arse, and then proceeds to get drunk. On their walk home he sticks his tongue down Yaz's throat and gets a bit handsy, she then tells him she is gay and he doesn't take it well, hitting her in the face whilst saying hateful things. She gets away from him and runs off, finding herself outside the Doctors shop she bangs on the door. The Doctor answers and hugs Yaz as she cries.
