A/N: This story is going on it's own direction, I get an idea and I go with it, it might make it jump about a bit, but it makes sense in my head!

"Neal hadn't changed much when it came to how he treated me, yes, he tended to avoid me at all costs, Cora wasn't at all impressed with him, but his Grandmother had warned him that if he were to cause any more unnecessary fights with any of the Mills siblings, he would be shipped off to Boston to live with his Grandmothers sister, who despised children, it seemed to do the trick, for a while at least." Pearly white teeth bared as a pink tongue came out to wet red lips, "but we all soon found out, Neal included, that he was the least of our worries, movement had been happening in outside bigger cities, animal attacks, people going missing, Cora and Henry were worried, so worried in fact, that leaving Storybrooke, had become an option"

"NO!" Regina yelled at her parents, a family meeting had been called a few days after Cora had read about the 'animal attacks' in Phoenix, they had gathered the rest of their family for a meeting, one that not gone the way any of them wanted,

"Regina…." Cora began,

"No…you both cannot ask me to leave her behind!" Regina snarled, her needed no name, it was Emma, Regina tended to get awfully passionate about the blonde, "I will not leave her when there is even the smallest chance that they come here" Regina said, turning on her father, who held his hands up,

"I have to agree with you my darling, I too do not like the idea of having to leave Emma, nor any other human in this town, if the rumours are true" Henry said a small smile gracing his lips,

"It's true" August said, he was yet to voice his thoughts, "it was talked about for years, an army of newborns, the kind like no-one had seen before, terrorising the entire world, not just America, they planned to start covens in Europe, Asia, North and South America, all under the nose of the Volturi" August said, his eyes never leaving the pocket-knife he was playing with in his hands,

"How has the Volturi not caught wind of this yet?" Ruby asked curiously, August and Killian both chuckled, but it was Henry who responded,

"The Volturi, Rumple in particular, only concern themselves with affairs if it greatly affects them" Henry said,

"How does the possibility of our kind being discovered not affect them?" Regina said, with a little too much bite,

"Italy is far enough away that they have an excuse, but believe me Regina, if Rumple where to discover just how much you care for young Emma, then you can be assured that he would be here quicker than you can say Mary Poppins" Henry said, his eyes darkening, no-one ever asked Henry about his time with the Volturi, it was a time in his life that he preferred not to talk about, for whatever reason, he had treated that time of his life like another life, and in a way it was just like another life, but it was one that had almost cost him his family,

"Can we at least tell Emma?" Regina asked, desperately, she would tell her either way, but at least with her parents blessing she wouldn't feel as bad, Henry and Cora looked to each other before smiling,

"Even if we say no, my dear, Miss Emma would still be in the loop" Henry said with a small smile, he nodded,

"You can tell her, but Regina, this is something that could put her in even more danger" Cora said, Regina nodded to her parents, turned on her heels and was gone before anyone could stop her.

"Newborns…like new vampires?" Emma asked, Regina couldn't help but chuckle as she nodded, she had tried to explain as best she could to Emma what was happening, Regina didn't need to be able to read Emma's mind to know that she was worried, her jumping pulse point and her bulging eyes was enough to see.

"Yes…they are much stronger than we are, by a great amount, as they still have human blood in their veins, they could crush Killian as easily as if he was a twig" Regina said, she had never experienced Newborns, but August had, "August knows first-hand how deadly they can be, they can slaughter an army if given the chance, they let their thirst drive them, which makes then predictable but yet, unpredictable" Regina said, Emma was looking at her with wide eyes, Regina reached over and wrapped her arms around her, "I swear to you Emma, no harm will ever come to you" Regina said,

"I…I know I'm safe with you Regina, I just, this is all a lot to take in, first you and your family, then this, it's…it's a lot" Emma said, Regina for the first time since deciding that Emma Swan would be hers was having doubts about wither she truly should have brought her into this world,

"I…I understand Emma, if this is just too much for you, too much of my world for you" Regina said, her heart, if it truly was beating, breaking, Emma's head shot up so quickly Regina was nearly sure that it would have snapped,

"You better not be doing what I think you are" Emma hissed, Regina looked at her with wide eyes, the fire she saw in the greenish-blue staring back at her made her chuckle, Emma just got madder, "you think this is funny Regina?" Emma said, Regina calmed herself before Emma set her into the pier.

"I…I'm sorry, it's just….I love you so, so much Emma, I would never risk anything happening to you, and if that meant that we could no longer be together" Regina paused, a sour taste filling her mouth, "then so be it" Regina said, Emma looked at her with narrowed eyes, she understood Regina's worry, but she was not leaving her, she might not be able to do anything against these, Newborns? But she wouldn't be scared away from Regina that easily, she loved her, she loved her more than she thought she could ever love anyone, and she was not wasting that,

"No…me leaving you or you leaving me is not an option Regina, but promise me, that you won't go looking for them, or that if they do somehow find us, that you won't try and hide me away, I want to help Regina, you, Rubes, Zee, all your family mean something to me Regina and I…I couldn't bare it if something happened to any of them" Emma said, her voice starting to crack,

"Even August?" Regina asked after a few seconds, Emma laughed loudly,

"Yes, even Auggie" Emma said leaning into Regina and resting her head on her shoulder, Regina chuckling at the nickname Emma had bestowed upon her youngest brother before placing a kiss on her head and wrapping her arm around her, pulling her as close as possible, Regina would do anything to protect Emma.

"You've been spending a lot of time over there Emma" David said casually as he watched Emma pack her laptop up into her bag, she rolled her eyes and turned to look at her father,

"I know, but I can't exactly switch off in class and have a full blown conversation with them" Emma said with a smile, David chuckled and pulled out his wallet, handing Emma a twenty dollar bill, Emma raised her eyebrow and he waved it at her until she took it, pulling out her own and putting it in,

"Grab some pizza on the way there" David said, Emma smiled and nodded, throwing the strap of her bag over her shoulder and kissing his cheek when she walked past him out the door, David chuckled, shook his head and moved into the kitchen to make himself something to eat, Mary was at a meeting so it was him, a six pack of Budweiser and the Giants game.

"B…but a thunderstorm is coming" Emma said as she stood open mouthed in the Mills' kitchen, her eyes wide, Zelena chuckled as Cora walked over to her and wrapped her arm around her shoulders,

"Indeed, there is Emma, indeed there is"

Twenty minutes later, Regina pulled up to an empty field that was laid out like a baseball pitch, Emma's eyes went wide, now she got what the bags where for, and Ruby's choice of clothes,

"You're playing baseball?" Emma asked, excitement in her voice, Regina chuckled as she held her hand out to help her out of the Mercedes, Regina nodded,

"Yes, we play with the storm" Regina said, Emma looked at her curiously,

"Why though?" Regina chuckled once more,

"You'll see"
