"I knew before anyone said his name who I was looking at, I could feel the fear radiating off all of them, especially Regina, and you didn't have to be a vampire for that"

"Let your hair down" Regina whispered into Emma ear, Zelena hissed,

"It's too late for that Regina" Zelena said, her hand landing on Emma's, "no matter what happens Emma, no harm will come to you" Zelena said, Emma nodded, the fire in the red head's eyes making her believe it.

"You have no business here" Henry's voice sounded through the open air, the red eyes of the blonde man landed on him, Henry glared at the man who was in every sense his maker,

"That's no way to greet old friends" the blonde man hissed, Henry growled and went to take a step forward, but Cora stepped in front of him,

"What my husband means is, we have never seen you around here before" Cora said, her hand moving to grasp her husbands, she knew who the blonde man was, and not just because of Henry's reaction, she had done her research, what little she could, on James, mostly it was conversations with both Ruby and Belle under the nose of Henry but she done her research on the man had had twisted her husband's arm and made them into what they are, she would never have let Henry live this life on his own, but she would not bow down before the man that made that possible,

"We are simply passing through" the red head said, "I am Victoria, this is James and our friend, Pierre"

"We are.."

"None of your business" Killian snarled, his eyes locking with James', James growled at Killian and both Ruby and Zelena pulled him back when he went to step towards the blonde man, they all still stood in front of Emma, no one any more the wiser that she was there,

"Killian, enough" Cora said glaring at her son, who simply nodded his head at his mother, Cora turned back to the three and started up a conversation with them, Henry glared at James, his eyes never leaving the red in front of him,

"We apologies, we didn't mean to interrupt" the Pierre said,

"Well your hunting did" Henry snapped,

"Henry, I said enough" Cora said, "No harm is done, however as I said before, this territory is already claimed, we live not far from here"

"Is that so?" the woman said, "the humans that were tracking us we managed to shake them a while back, east of here, you should be safe" Victoria said, Cora nodded,

"Thank you" Cora said,

"Perhaps…you could use three more players?" Pierre said as he looked around, Henry went to open his mouth, but Cora squeezed his hand,

"Why not, a few of us were leaving, studying to be done" Cora said with a forced smile, Pierre chuckled, his red eyes never leaving those of Cora's amber, "my children like to win by any means at this sport" Cora added,

"We'll take our changes" he said, Killian who was holding the ball threw it at Pierre, but it was caught by Victoria,

"I throw a mean curve ball" she said with an evil smile, Killian smiled, his just as evil,

"I think we can handle that" August said with a forced smile, Pierre and Victoria started to laugh, Cora turned,

"Take her home, the three of you" Cora said looking to Regina, Killian and Ruby, Regina nodded and pulled Emma behind her, as Emma moved a gust of wind caught her hair, James who had turned suddenly stopped and turned back, he sniffed the air deeply, snarled and looked at Emma,

"You brought a snack" James snarled as he crouched down and bared his fangs, Emma was pushed behind Regina and Zelena while the rest of the Mills crouched down in front of her,

"She is under our protection" Henry snapped, his own fangs bared, "and you would do well to remember that" he said glaring at James,

"No human is under the protection of vampires" James said snapping his mouth shut, Killian took a step closer to him as did the rest of the Mills' family,

"This one is" Cora said, who placed herself in between her son and James, "this game is over" she said,

"I…I think that would be wise" Pierre said, "come James" he said as he stood, James who's eyes never left Emma's was snatched by the back of his jacket, "I said come", James growled and puckered his lips at Emma, Regina snarled and went to move but Killian wrapped his arm around her to stop her from attacking him, Henry stood up and placed himself in front of Cora who rolled her eyes, the Mills' and Emma watched as the three vampires disappeared back into the forest, none of them feeling any less anxious.

"You cannot have her on twenty-four hour lockdown Regina" Cora said as she ran her hands through her hair, the entire Mills family was in the family room, a wide open room just off the kitchen, Regina was sitting on the sofa , Emma's head, who had fallen asleep, in her lap, a light blanket thrown over her, Regina was watching Emma, her fingers running up and down the blonde's arm as she slept, she smiled when Emma would groan if she stopped, and chuckled when a small smile would form when she started again,

"What if she stays with us for a few weeks?" Ruby suggested, she stood behind the sofa her sister sat on, the Mills siblings didn't seem to want to leave the blonde's side, with Zelena sitting at her feet Emma's feet, which had been placed in her lap, Killian sitting on the arm beside her, August stood beside Ruby behind them, with Belle sitting on the floor in front, Cora and Henry stood at the fireplace, where a roaring fire was ablaze, the pride that surged through both parents at the scene, the Mills siblings had formed literally a shield around Emma, no one was getting near her, never in all there time as vampires, did either of them expect this, yes their children had tried and failed to make friends with humans, it was too hard for them, now looking on, they couldn't help but think that if anyone, human or vampire, wanted Emma, they would be quite shocked to see just how many people they would have to get through to get to the blonde, and all they would have to do, is ask Neal Cassidy.

"We can't ask her to do that Ruby" Cora said with a soft smile, "we can't ask her to leave her family like that:"

"But if it keeps her safe" August added looking down at Emma and then to his parents. Cora and Henry where most shocked with August and how quickly he had taken to the blonde, August wasn't as long without human blood as the rest of them, and still had trouble being around them without wanting to bite them, hence why he spent most of his time with Zelena or Killian who tended to keep him in check and always knew when he was starting to struggle, but he had taken to Emma after the initial awkwardness of their first meetings, he was as protective of her as the rest of.

"She should choose what she wants to do" Henry said smiling at his son who just scoffed,

"Here at least we know she will be protected, there is no way the Nolan's will let us camp outside their house" August added, crossing his arms over his chest, Ruby ran her hand up and down his back and squeezed his shoulder, offering a small amount of comfort to her brother,

"I would feel more comfortable with her here Mother" Regina said, finally looking up from Emma, the look of sorrow on her face made them want to pull their daughter into their arms, they had no doubt that if crying was a possibility for them, Regina would have tears streaming down her cheeks,

"We couldn't explain that to her parents Regina, why she suddenly has to spend weeks here? No school project would require that" Cora added with a small, yet sad smile, Regina growled and gripped the blanket tightly that lay over Emma, Cora walked forward and squatted down in front of her daughter, taking her hand and unclenching it, "we will come up with something darling, I promise you, Emma will never be alone, if we have to, we will keep to the shadows, even if we have to keep it from her, she will always be protected. She is one of us now" Cora said, Regina locked eyes with her mother, shock on her face,

"No harm will ever come to her Regina, I don't know how many times we must say this, but we will say it as many times as you and Emma, need to hear it. Emma, is, in every sense, yours Regina, she is not your possession, but she is one with you, we knew it from the minute we met her." Henry reached for her hand, "You have her heart Regina, much like she would have yours. She is a Mills, and Mills' protect each other if it is the last thing they do"

"How serious is this?" Emma asked after swallowing the bite of pizza, Cora smiled at her,

"It…it's serious Emma, we..we think that perhaps…"Cora paused not exactly sure how to go about the subject of a 24/7 watch on the blonde,

"Perhaps it would be best, if you had, a.." Henry paused, much like his wife, not sure how exactly to go about it,

"We think you need protection" Regina said bluntly, having rolled her eyes at both her parents. Emma looked to Regina her eyes wide,

"Protection…from…from the vampires today?" Emma asked, fear starting to take a grip on her, her face paled considerably making Regina reach for her,

"Yes…I…we feel that it would be best if you were to stay here, but Mother and Daddy feel that it wouldn't be possible with your parents" Regina said, Emma looked to Cora and Henry who were looking at her with worry etched on their faces, Emma looked to the rest of the Mills family who had similar looks on their faces,

"Should I be worried?" Emma asked, when she received no answer immediately, she fell against Regina, "fuck" Emma said, everyone couldn't help but chuckle, Emma had rarely cursed in front of them, if not ever, it was a change,

"We won't lie to you Emma" Cora said, sitting forward, "yes, you are in danger"

"But no..:

"Harm will ever come to me" Emma finished for Henry, " I know" Emma said locking eyes with the elder Mills and smiling, "I trust all of you, I feel safe with all of you, but, he could still get to me?" Emma asked,

"Yes, that is why Regina is suggesting you stay with us, if only for a small time" Cora said, "we can protect you here, there is, things, that can help that would not be able to be done at your home" Cora said cautiously, Emma smiled,

"Magic?" Emma asked, a small smile gracing her lips, Cora and Henry looked at each other with wide eyes, then looked to Regina who wouldn't met them, Henry chuckled and shook his head,

"Yes, Magic, our home has a protection around it" Henry began, "no other vampire can cross onto the land surrounding us unless they are invited by us, that, is something I have to thank The Volturi for" Henry said with a chuckle,

"No, I will not be thanking them for something we would have figured out how to do for ourselves eventually" Cora added, causing everyone, including Emma to laugh.

"I…I would feel safer being here" Emma said after a few moments, Regina sagged with relief, relief washed over all the Mills family, Emma looked to Regina, "what do I tell my parents though, I doubt a school project is going to be enough?" Emma asked, not realising she had repeated Cora's words earlier that were said to Regina, having no idea who to even begin to explain this to them.

"Leave that to me" Henry said with a smile.
