Ahh, back again so soon? Such a shock. But with my brainstorming parting out for a moment on my other stories, let's keep the train rolling over here! And so we continue our Quest, flying majestically away into the Sunset!...
Spoiler: Until we Spot a Restaurant
[X] Get Something to Eat, Magical Contests and Freefalls are EXHAUSTING
Now, let's see if I CAN write a cooking manga or storyline...
HUNGER, ON! Ready? GO, HUNGER!
You were laughing high above in the sky, a mystical artifact held in one hand and the clear cold air running through the other. And by everything you had ever felt, sworn by and longed for, this was the happiest moment of your life. Not because you had won a magical contest for the first time without serious harm, not because of the effortless escape you had pulled against your former opponents.
No, this was purely selfish. For YEARS you had felt stagnant, doing the same things over and over but still revolutionizing the greater world thanks to people making them slightly worse before 'upgrading' them back to standard just to earn more money you might never see, feeling like you had done the best you possibly could, greater than the regular person but no-where near the heights of others.
It...it depressed you, you could be frank about it this far above, held on wings of your own creation and viewing the City of Shining Lights glint in the light. You were a big fish in a small pond, comfy and content dreaming about world conquest while your parents actually got closer to said goal as a secondary benefit to their corporations. You talked a bit game, dressed like a villain and accepted that you were a jerk, but, well, that was all you really were. A Jerk at best.
Kogarashi raised you too well to be an uncaring sociopath like your upbringing usually would, Kristen showed you a world beyond the households and pushed you out of comfort zones with her mere presence, and you read FAR too much media and fiction to actually be balls to the wall effective Evil. It was one thing you had decided when you were a child, seeing and hearing stories about the topic, that you would change what being Evil was about. Not stupidly self-centered to the exclusion of everything, no trying to hide or claim otherwise to what you were, the world would see what Evil looked like. And enjoy it.
Evil was a concept as human as it was flawed, and you loved that too. But you were trailing off topic, possibly from high altitude. You decided to go a little bit further down just in case, now just circling the city and lost in thoughts.
Then came the Monks crashing into your life. Revelations of Actual Magical boys and girls, races for items around the world, mysterious organizations up the wazoo and risks of life and fortune at every turn. It was a story book concept but it was REAL and then...then Wuya.
The Ghost/Witch/Mentor who saw something in you and...what? Sticks around your house and occasionally lead you on world-wide expeditions with vague hints here and there? You should have been closer to her, questioned her more, learned how she does the things she does, but...but you were scared. The last time you asked her actual questions, you got a story that changed how you viewed the world, a shadow war, and found a sad old spirit. What if you poked somewhere worse? What if...what if she was wrong in seeing potential in you? Before now, such a thing would have broken you.
The key-word was of that sentence though, was Before. The Wing Road, which you had easily christened your new flight pack, changed everything.
Wing Road...it was a sign that you could go farther. Actually make things beyond the scope you had been trapped within for so long. Actually step towards Ruling the World. Actually...be happy and successful on your own. This was the freedom you felt. Freedom of option, of potential, and future heights. The Glass Ceiling was broken now, and you had no intentions of ever letting a new one form.
As you settled down in empty alley, the Wing Road folding seamlessly together with the quiet turning of gears, you took your first steps as a new man...
Only to immediately brace against the wall and clutch your stomach as it roared at its full might, feeling like it was already tearing away at your lining.
RIGHT! Adrenaline rush after rush, rapid breaking down and revolutionizing of flight technologies while in free-fall, and the fact that somehow eating things as two people failed to equal back to anything when coming back together. That'd take a toll on anyone's appetite, and damn if you didn't have as good a one as you should.
Luckily, you stumbled directly on the other side of a bistro that looked fairly nice, so you wasted no time straightening up as best as you could before entering the establishment.
It was a nice place, all things considered, but you were too busy shoving all the money in a waiters face as the Third-Arm Sash held a nice cup of frappachino as you sat back and waited for deliciousness.
Spoiler: Honestly, you could think of worse things to do in Paris.
Lounging around in a nice out of the way cafe with mystical items in your grasp, technology lifting you up to greater heights, and good food to fill you up. That's most people's life goals!
And then your meal came.
Spoiler: Oh, how it glistened.
A Steak Au Poivre with a side of crisp potato fries double battered and served with a side of Au Jus and coleslaw along with several types of pepper. You wasted no time tearing into the succulent piece of meat, enjoying the crispness and heat of the well seared steak combined with the subtle crunch of cabbage mix while the Third-Arm Sash shoveling in fries and drink in the rare pauses between. Before you knew it, you had finished the plate, three more ice coffee's and were steadily munching away on your fruit dessert you barely remember ordering.
Spoiler: You would also BRUTALLY murder anyone who tried to take it away from you.
With its thick sized strawberries, rich store made whip-cream with a lemon twist topped with CHOCOLATE and maraschino cherry ice cream and two vanilla wafers air-fried with cinnamon to mop up and scoop any remaining vanilla ice cream, it brought you back to life with its satisfying sweetness.
As you leaned back in your chair, utterly stuffed and content, you...were simply happy.
...For three minutes before you remembered something important.
"Oh SHIT, I FORGOT WUYA!"

I really went in an unexpected place with this one. I FULLY expected to make it a full on cooking segment where we either found and overpayed for a massive buffet of incredible food and maybe get a gluttony skill, but instead I gave some actual forethought into what WE, as Jack Spicer, have felt over the years. We are a person, with thoughts, feelings, Goals, and experiences shaping who we are.
And we just took our first step into another part of our life. Let's hope we have a long journey ahead of us.
