Coco: Hey, everyone, I know it's been a very long time since I posted for this story, and I apologize for that. But I guess most of you are used to me not posting for long periods of time...sorry about that. Anyway, due to it being a while since my last post, I have a surprise for you! It's a three-chapter-update! That's right. Not just one chapter, but three. I know it doesn't really make up for the time you've waited, but I hope you enjoy them all the same.
Also, I'm not sure if you remember or not, but a while back I had you guys vote on a second Fairy Tail story to choose who would be paired with my new OC. Well, that is in the works and the pairing decided is Gajeel/OC. I have most of it worked out with my main character being changed around what how I had previously decided. But I have her and my two main supporting characters all figured out. I don't want to overload this new stories with as many ocs as Rizzo's story, but I didn't want to create my Dragon Slayer OC all on her lonesome, so she does have two friends backing her up. But enough about that. You'll meet them soon enough.
Now, shall we get started?
Rizzo grinned getting ready to fight the large creatures when someone else decided to butt in.
"Ice Make: Lance!"
Long pointed shards of ice shot forward hitting the large creatures to force them back. While the ice didn't manage to pierce their thick hides, they were disoriented for a second. As Ulva and Leona looked behind Rizzo with wide eyes due to the new player, Rizzo sighed. Of course, he just had to butt in. She turned her head to frown at Gray as the ice-maker wizard was standing in the entrance to the large room.
"Two against one seems a little unfair, now doesn't it?" He asked with a frown on his face. "So, how about we even up the odds?"
Ulva just smirked silently in reply as she didn't care if a new plaything wanted to join the fight. It just meant more fun for her and her pets. Leona on the other hand looked unpleased. She didn't want to fight anymore members of Fairy Tail than she had to.
"Hey, Popsicle, you're not needed here, so beat it, would ya?" Rizzo asked as she gestured for Gray to move on.
Gray, of course, ignored her and moved to stand beside her, which had Rizzo frowning even more.
"Don't be stupid," Gray said getting a glare from Rizzo. "We can't be fooling around. We have to find out how to stop the Abyss Break and these two are some of Phantom's strongest. So, we need to hit them hard and move on."
Rizzo sighed though couldn't really argue with Gray. Like Ulva had pointed out, she and her sister were told to squash the opposition as soon as possible to keep things in their favor. Well, Fairy Tail needed to do the same to protect their guild. Meaning a team up was necessary. She couldn't take the time to play around with the two Phantom wizards.
"Fine," Rizzo said. "We'll call a truce for now, Frostbite. But once this fight is over, we part ways, got it?"
"Don't have to ask me twice," Gray said as he got back to back with Rizzo.
Leona sighed shake her head before pulling out a clear orb. Though there seemed to be something within it, but it was too far away for Rizzo to tell what it was.
"Overbite, return," Leona called.
The large green lizard looked back at the wizard who held out the ball. The lizard gave a loud screech before it was enveloped in a white light. It disappeared with the light shooting back into the orb. Rizzo watched as Leona placed the orb on to her belt, which had several white orbs attached along with it. She pulled out another one to roll within her grasp.
"You should recall your Sang Buaya, sister," Leona cautioned Ulva. "Considering our opponents."
Ulva gave a scoff as she crossed her arms over her chest. A look of complete confidence over her face.
"My beast will fair just fine, Leona." Ulva retorted.
Though Rizzo wasn't so sure about that as the large crocodile like creature still seemed a bit out of it from Gray's attack. And it had just been a warning shot.
"You will regret your decision," Leona told the younger twin. "A novice wouldn't make the same mistake."
"It's not a mistake," Ulva shot back. "If my Sang Buaya was weak like your coddled pets then maybe I would agree with you, but my beasts are superior."
Leona shook her head as if in disappointment before tossing up the white orb in her hand.
"I call upon the mighty Salamander," Leona called out. "Come forth, Shula!"
Another blinding light appeared with another lizard appearing once the light died away. While the other lizard who had become before it had been about the height of an average male human, this lizard was about the size of a child just a year or two pass the toddler stage. It was reddish-orange as well with a creamy-white belly and a small horn sticking out the top of its head. Though the most interesting feature of the creature were the flames dancing on the back of its tail. It let out a screech at Gray and Rizzo who sort of just blinked at the thing.
"Aw, it's kind of cute." Rizzo said.
"Reminds me of a certain fire breathing moron." Gray commented with a deadpanned expression on his face.
Rizzo rolled her eyes at Gray before the two gasped having to duck down when the little guy blew a torrent of fire at them. They remained crouched on the ground while staring at the lizard in mild surprise.
"Wasn't expecting that," Rizzo said.
"He really is like that fire breathing moron," Gray scoffed as he stood straight again. "And I know just how to handle those types."
He placed his hands together as he took a familiar stance. Rizzo stood back for a second to watch what would happen as Ulva's beasts finally seemed to gain its bearings. It snarled at Gray; obviously upset about the sneak attack from earlier.
"Oh, don't worry, pal." Gray said. "I haven't forgotten about you. Now, Ice-Make: Saucer!"
The swirling ice-made saucer whirled towards the two lizards with the sharp edges seeming to buzz as it spun. Before it could react its intended targets, however, the smaller of the two reptiles opened its mouth. Another burst of flames shot forward and while Gray's ice has withstood Natsu's fire before at least long enough to land some kind of hit, his ice seemed to melt instantly under the fire the salamander had created. Though Rizzo too was a bit surprised how easily the small creature turned Gray's ice into water, she noticed how the reptile made sure not to be hit by the water as it jumped back.
"What the hell?!" Gray shouted in shock.
He then gasped when seeing that while he was distracted by the smaller reptile, the crocodile moved in. He took a swipe at Gray with his long-jagged claws, but Rizzo sent a blast of sound magic from her guitar to hit the beast. It sent it tumbling backwards, but it didn't seem as phased as it had been when Gray's ice magic had hit it earlier. Gray moved back next to Rizzo as the pinkette narrowed her eyes. She was beginning to understand why Leona had switched out her beast and tried to get Ulva to do the same.
"Hey, Gray, I have a plan," Rizzo said as she nudged the ice-maker wizard's shoulder with her own.
He looked down at her curiously as she had a large grin on her face. Though before they had time to conversate, Leona sent her beast forward. It spun in the air with the flames on its tail burning with more intensity. The more intense flames and the spinning it was doing turned it into a pinwheel of flames that were heading right for them. The Gray got into a stance to counter, but was shoved out of the way by Rizzo, who switched over to her violin, causing him to gasp. Rizzo played a quick tune with wind shooting forward to force the fire lizard off target. It hit the ground hard with the marble floor cracking from the impact. The lizard sat up shaking out its head, which was most likely ringing from the hit.
"What the hell are you doing?!" Gray snapped at Rizzo. "I had it!"
"Oh yeah?" Rizzo asked with a bored look. "I don't think so, Ice Princess. You just stay out of my way and worry about beating the weaker sister with that ice of yours."
She gestured to Ulva nonchalantly as she said this, which had Ulva's eye twitching in annoyance. Gray looked as if he was about to retort in argument, but paused for a second. He looked at Rizzo closely for a second before looking to the crocodile who seemed to be eying him warily as it stood in front of its wizard. His eyes then went back to Rizzo as something dawned on him. A grin soon spread across his face, which Rizzo mirrored.
"Got it?" She asked.
"Yeah," Gray said as he got ready to fight. "Got it."
"Good," Rizzo said. "Now, let's kick ass."
Away from the action, Blaze remained with Team Shadow Gear in the Magnolia Hospital. As he kept watch over his wounded guildmates, he stared pensively out the window.
'I shouldn't be here on guard duty,' He thought as he crossed his arms over his chest. 'I need to make sure nothing happens to the target; not babysit weak fairies.'
As far as he was concerned, the members of Team Shadow Gear have little to offer him or his master. Their magic was basic and their skills average at best. However, to keep up appearances, he did what Master Makarov asked him and remained behind to watch the three.
"You don't want to be here," Levi's voice roused him from his thoughts and had him turning to look at her.
The tiny bluenette was sitting up in her hospital bed with a small smile on her face as she looked at him. Next to her, Jet and Droy were snoozing away in their own beds. They had finally fallen asleep after the nurses had given them something to make them calm down. They had been really riled up when hearing Fairy Tail went to war with Phantom, and wanted to join their guildmates. But seeing as that they were still on the mend, it was decided to give them sedatives since they wouldn't listen to reason.
"I thought you were asleep," Blaze commented as he looked back out the window.
"Hard to sleep when you're brooding so loudly over there," Levi quipped.
Blaze's brow rose in mild surprise as he glanced back at her. Did she really just poke fun at him? He certainly wasn't used to that, but despite the unusualness he felt over the tease, he felt his lips turn up slightly.
"My apologies," Blaze said. "I will try to brood more quietly."
Levi chuckled at his words before her expression turned a bit serious as her glaze turned to look out the window as well.
"I want to be with them too," Levi said to continue her previously made statement. "I'm worried."
Blaze looked away from Levi once more as he felt a bit of guilt rise in his chest. If this girl only knew, Blaze wasn't worried about Fairy Tail. If the guild fell at the hands of Phantom, so be it. It would be less work for him later on. All he cared about was snagging Rizzo Sweeney and maybe a couple of useful magic abilities along the way to take to his master.
"You could go and help them," Levi said. "They need you more than we do. We're fine here."
"Master told me to stay with the three of you." Blaze said. "Besides, if another one of blasts from earlier comes barreling through, I'm your best bet on getting out of here alive."
He said this all matter-of-factly as he gave a casual shrug of his shoulders once he crossed his arms over his chest.
"Then go help stop Phantom before they can fire again," Levy suggested. "I don't know your magic power, but if you're so confident in your abilities, you have to be strong, right? So, please, help everyone else. Help Lucy."
Blaze sighed as he stared at Levy who looked back at him imploringly. Her eyes were even beginning to water as she pleaded with him to do something other than stay with them.
"You don't want to be here anyway," Levi reminded him. "So, go, please."
Blaze ran his fingers through his hair. He would be disobeying Master Makarov if he left the three wounded here alone. However, if he was truly going to blend in as a Fairy Tail wizard, maybe he should disobey his orders and go help the others. From what he's studied of this odd guild is that almost none of the members ever seem to do as they're told. Especially when their friends seem to be in danger.
"Fine," He said getting Levy to look at him happily. "But that means you're in charge. Make sure those two idiots don't do anything stupid when they wake up, and if danger does come, it's on you if you don't get to safety in time."
Levy's smile only grew, which had him averting his gaze. He shook his head though as he went to leave. However, he paused as a thought came to mind. He turned to Levy once more while walking right up to her bed. He leaned down to look at her, which had the bluenette turning slightly pink.
"To make sure that everything I just said was clear, I need you to promise me to do your best to stay safe in my absence." He said seriously as he rose his left brow at her.
Levy sweat-dropped at his tone while almost feeling as if he was treating her like she was a child.
"I promise!" She said. "Just go already, ya jerk!"
She hit his shoulder for emphasis and he looked at her rather unimpressed in return.
"That was a bit uncalled for, wasn't it?" Blaze questioned though he stood straight. "But if you have this much energy, I suppose you'll be fine."
He then left without further words while guessing one of the weak fairies was good for something. With her permission, he now could enter the fight and thus remain at the target's side.
'And maybe collect some of Phantom's top wizards' magic as well,' Blaze thought.
"Ice-Make: Cannon!" Gray casted as he shot an ice cannonball at the crocodile in front of him.
It managed to smash the ice with its mighty tail, but it also flinched back as it shook its head. It made a noise of distress almost before roaring in pain when Gray managed to land a hit with a second attack. Ulva growled in annoyance as she watched her Sang Buaya struggle against their opponent.
"You're not so tough." Gray taunted. "You get a little cold and you can't seem to even function."
The Sang Buaya snarled at Gray before flinching when Ulva cracked her whip.
"We're not done by a long shot!" Ulva said. "Now, San Buaya, hit him hard!"
The fight continued between the two wizards as over on the other side of the room, Rizzo fought against Leona and her beast. Rizzo jumped out of the way from Leona's beast before playing a fluid tune on her violin that sent a blast of water at the reptile. It hissed making sure to avoid the liquid as it retreated closer to its master. Rizzo grinned.
"Don't think I've missed your weakness, little guy." Rizzo said. "So, ice has no affect on you, but water seems to be a big no-no, am I right?"
Just to prove her point she played the same tune on her violin to send more water barreling towards the reptile. It jumped up out of the way while seeming to be extra careful of not getting its tail wet. Rizzo chuckled as she saw she was right.
"And I guessing that your little pet from earlier is weak to ice like your sister's crocodile friend." Rizzo continued as she looked to Leona. "It's true that magical creatures are tough opponents and anyone able to tame them is pretty impressive too, but your beasts have obvious weaknesses."
Leona frowned though wasn't surprised that Rizzo had figured it out. She had seen how closely Rizzo had been observing the fight thus far. While the girl was known for causing a lot of damage and chaos during her fights, she still seemed to make sure to fight smart.
"You're right," Leona said. "The beasts do have weaknesses to certain things, like different elements. But to make up for their weaknesses a true Beast Tamer fights alongside them. They are not tools. They are allies. Meaning you're at a disadvantage because it's two against one."
Despite the fact Leona was right, Rizzo's grin only widened, which perplexed the older woman.
"Looks like Lucy was right about you," Rizzo said causing Leona to stiffen. "You're not a bad person. I get why she wants to help you."
Before Leona could demand to know what Rizzo was talking about, she was brought back to the fight at hand by Ulva's Sang Buaya being sent flying right into her Salamander. Both beasts hit the wall which crumbled around them to bury them slightly in rubble.
"Shula!" Leona called out in worry before pulling out another orb. "Return."
Shula was covered in a white light before he returned to the orb that Leona had summoned him from. Though she seemed worried about her companion, Ulva was steaming mad.
"How could you have lost?!" She snapped at the Sang Buaya who was still trapped underneath the half-fallen wall. "It's pathetic. When I bought you, I was promised the best!"
The Sang Buaya whimpered as it struggled to break free from where it was trapped. Its whimpering only seemed to anger Ulva who was quick to snap her whip at the trapped creature. It whined at the strike as Rizzo and Gray watched with wide eyes. Ulva went to strike the creature again, but Leona put herself between her sister and the Sang Buaya. The whip hit her raised arm and wrapped around it tightly, which brought blood from her flesh. Despite that she grabbed hold of the whip tightly with her hand as she glared at her sister.
"Enough," Leona said firmly. "We do not raise our hands in anger at the beasts. I know mother taught you that."
Ulva glared back as she pulled against the whip thus digging the other end farther into Leona's arm.
"And she knew best, did she?" Ulva retorted. "Last I checked mother was killed by one of her very own beasts. She died as a worthless excuse for a Beast Tamer."
Leona's expression turned livid and before anyone could even blink she jerked the whip forward, which sent Ulva up in the air and heading right towards Leona who close-hangered her younger twin sister. Ulva grunted falling to the ground as Leona finally released her whip. Ulva frowned looking up at her sister looking ready to retort, but the words died in her mouth when seeing Leona's dark expression.
"If you ever speak ill of our mother again, I will do much worse." Leona said. "Moreover, if you're going to keep insisting on wasting time, stay the hell out of my way."
Rizzo and Gray who were standing next to each other again just blinked at the family drama. Maybe their opponents would take each other out.
"Now, I'm done playing," Leona said to the two Fairy Tailers. "While I don't agree with this fight between our two guilds, I can't afford to lose. Father would have our heads if we disappoint him."
She brought out two more orbs as she spoke, which had Rizzo and Gray getting ready for what might come.
"Come forth, Squall, Digger!" Leona called.
The blinding lights appeared once more and once they disappeared, two small creatures were left behind. These weren't of the reptile variety either. One looking to be an armadillo like mammal and the other a really, really round pink thing with floppy rabbit-like ears.
"They look really cute too." Rizzo said.
Though as soon as the words were out of her mouth, the pink creature opened up its mouth letting out a wail so loud it shook the room. Rizzo and Gray cried out clutching their ears while not even noticing that the other creature dove underneath the floor. Rizzo's used to loud noises. She plays with amplifiers constantly, but that didn't prepare her for the high-pitch screeching she was now being forced to hear.
Before Rizzo could even think what to do, the other creature popped out of the ground through a whole of its own creation. It was curled up and spinning like a ball as it hit Rizzo head on. She grunted falling back as the creature disappeared under the floor once more. It was back again shortly, however, as it hit Gray next. This action continued with the screeching creature keeping them immobilized as the digging creature picked up speed and started hitting them rapidly with its very solid, heavy body.
As the Fairy Tail wizards struggled against this new attack, Leona watched on with an unreadable expression. She didn't want to do this. In fact, she hated this entire situation. Phantom Lord and Fairy Tail shouldn't be fighting like this. She didn't have a choice in the matter, however, which is why she'll end this as quickly as possibleā¦for the sake of both sides.
'I'm sorry, Lucy,' Leona said. 'But you're wrong about me. I'm not a nice person. I'm a coward. I'm just someone trying to save their own skin, and that's why your friends will suffer.'
Leona then snapped her fingers with the wailing noise increasing in volume as the pink-creature opened its mouth wider. Rizzo grit her teeth together curling up in a ball as she felt blood start to drip from her ears. That wasn't the only problem though. Each hit she took from the other beast was wearing her down and each hit seemed to double in strength. At this rate, she was sure she and Gray's bones would be broken.
She lifted her head to look up at Gray who was trying to force himself up; not even trying to cover his ears from the noise. This wasn't good at all. They needed to find some way out of this. The others were counting of them. They couldn't fail here. Not with what's at stake. She then looked above her as the ground-creature popped out of one of the many holes it has made once more. It was spinning right at her. She braced herself for impact, but it never came as an ice wall was made in front of her. The creature bounced back hitting his fellow beast thus stopping the screeching.
"Rizzo, now!" Gray shouted.
Rizzo was quick to react knowing the brief moment he has created for them was short. She brought forth her guitar and amps with the latter falling with a loud thump behind her.
"Let's see how you handle a taste of your own medicine," Rizzo said then slammed down on the strings of her guitar.
A loud blasting of music came from the amps behind her and hit Leona, Ulva, and the two beasts with them. All four hit the hall hard behind them, and while they were unable to move Gray used his maker magic to freeze the group to the wall. Rizzo paused in playing, but only long enough to switch out to her violin as her guitar and speakers went away.
"I think one more attack ought to do it." Rizzo said. "Ready, Frostbite?"
Gray just smirked as he got into the usual stance to prepare for the final attack. Rizzo started playing her violin quickly with the space around them filling with raging winds. Around Gray's hands the temperature dropped as the ice started forming.
"Song of the Dancing Wind!" Rizzo played as Gray shouted. "Ice-Make: Lance!"
The two attacks mixed creating a raging blizzard of ice that hit their opponents head on. It caused the entire room to shake as the wall the beast tamers had been pinned to crumbled down on top of them. When seeing the two down for the count and the beasts had returned to their orbs, Rizzo let out a cheer.
"Yeah, and that's how we take care of things in the Fairy Tail guild!" Rizzo said with a grin.
Gray chuckled at her enthusiasm despite the fact they both felt like hell. They were going to be bruised for weeks that's for sure. Not to mention probably partially deaf.
"Gray, Rizzo!" A booming voice shouted behind them.
The two wizards turned their heads seeing Elfman, Mirajane, and Craylee making their way over to them. When they reached the pair, Elfman gasped when seeing the partially buried beast tamers.
"Whoa, you took out the Porla twins?!" He exclaimed.
Gray and Rizzo exchanged a glance at his question before turning back towards him.
"What was that?" They both asked in unison and rather loudly to boot.
