Day 7

"It's been a week since we entered the time chamber and progress has already shown shown fruit." said Raditz to nobody in particular, merely recording logs into his scouter to keep track of their progress for future reference, if there was a future after all of this. "It's still far too difficult to move in these weights in 100 times gravity but I can feel it getting easier with each day. Nappa is currently in the healing pod after yesterday's training."

He walked out of the control room and walked into the healing chamber, seeing Nappa currently resting, not actually needing to heal. It's not that the beds weren't comfortable, the floating sensation inside the pod helped keep the nerves from relaxing too much compared to lying down on a bed after a hard day's work. After checking in on Nappa, he'd head into the gravity room and turn it on, just barely managing to stay on his feet.

"I've learned how adjusted to human life I'd become, having the urge to play music while I'm training. Unfortunately being in a room outside space and time makes the radio worthless and while I thought listening to the music I'd saved to entertain Nion would help me be reminded of her, but the sheer childish tunes are enough to drive me to my wits' end."

Raditz would start doing backflips in the intense gravity, straining his body and making his instincts demand he go Super Saiyan to handle the pressure but denied his body the relief, needing his body to adjust to the pain and strengthen from it. He managed to keep this up for 10 minutes before collapsing onto his back, unable to move under his own weight, feeling a crushing weight on his ribs with every breath. 5 minutes later, he'd hear the door open as Nappa would come in, reaching down to help the saiyan back to his feet. "You know, it's a waste to just lie down under intense gravity. You may as well get some sleep."

Raditz would turn off the recording of his scouter as he pondered an idea. "That actually gives me an idea. What if we slept in this gravity? It would ensure we wouldn't feel the sudden jolt of changing gravity every time we leave the room."

"Hold on, you telling me you can change the gravity inside the entire ship instead of just this room?" asked Nappa, who took a bite out of a slab of meat that he'd brought with him. "Wouldn't that function be incredibly dangerous considering you bring your kid in here?" He'd quickly finish his breakfast and immediately start throwing punches into the open air.

"You bring up a good point, though I already took that into consideration when I had Bulma work on this. I have the gravity controls locked when Nion enters, to make sure she doesn't go pressing buttons and becoming a saiyan pancake." He'd take a deep breath and start firing energy blasts around the inside of the room, swinging his arms to make them gyrate and move at random, making sure none of them actually hit the walls of the ship. Anytime one would come at him, he'd try to hit it, though stumbles every time due to not having full mobility.

Nappa would deflect each of the bolts of energy that swirled around the room when they entered arm's length. "You're a real good parent Raditz. I don't think there existed a saiyan man in history that took better care of their child than you." He deflected two bolts at the same time and watched a third come straight for him, opening his mouth to fire a mouth laser to disperse it.

Raditz got flashbacks to the few memories he had of his dad, Bardock, and how he was surprisingly kind to him, at least when his mom, Gine, was around. Well, kind in terms of a saiyan anyway. Thinking about it, he'd have loved to spar with the man at least once before Freeza eradicated their planet and his family. "Yeah, not a one."

Day 49

"The training has progressed incredibly in the past 6 weeks. I'm able to move more with the weights on in 100 times gravity and have started to breathe easier as well. Nappa's also improved considerably, getting better at energy control the more he practices. It's become clear why this man, who never even considered actual training, was known as a Saiyan Elite, he has real potential."

As he said that, the entire ship shook as the sound of Nappa screaming could be heard from outside. Raditz looked out a window of the ship, seeing the mentioned saiyan outside in the void of the Time Chamber, surrounded by chunks of crumbled ice that had formed form the unstable temperature shifts.

"He's gone outside the ship to train his techniques in an open environment so not to destroy the ship and leave us too damaged to move. Even so, the sheer pressure he gives off is already enough to show that he's dead serious about becoming stronger and getting his revenge on Cell. Either that or the Time Chamber has made him lose all sense of control. Which reminds me, I haven't gone Super Saiyan in over a month. It worries me that I might not be able to transform every once in a while but I don't want my body to adjust to it just yet. I first want to see how far I can push myself in this state before testing the new shift in Super Saiyan."

He turned off the recording and entered the main gravity room once more, staring at the gravity controls before turning it on to 150 times, grunting as he was pushed down, but didn't find himself on the ground. "Well, I suppose I don't have to go that far. Kaio-Ken!" He amplified his energy by 50% and stood up straight, hardly feeling the strains caused by the increased gravity. "Just a few more weeks, that's all I need. After that, I might even be able to take on Cell as he is now." As he powered back down and once more struggled against the weight on his body, he began to do a few squats, hurting his legs by lowering his increased body weight down on them and straining them trying to force that weight back up. I wonder how Nion is doing? I'm sure she's fine, it should have only been about 3 hours for her since we went in.

Day 161

"Training took much longer than anticipated but I've finally done it. Even in 500 times gravity, I feel normal even wearing this much weight on my body. I haven't yet seen the fruit of my training just yet but will report more upon resting and sparring with Nappa."

Raditz cut off the recording and walked over to the gravity machine. Before dialing down the machine, he took off one of the bracers dropping it and watching it cave in the floor upon landing, starting to wonder just what kind of results he should expect just from that. Not wanting to damage the floor anymore than that, he took each piece of equipment off his body and set it down gently, taking a deep breath after taking off the chestplate. His hand twitched over the gravity controls, a bit worried as to how he was going to adjust to such low gravity after feeling heavier than a moon. He dialed the gravity down and took a deep breath, never remembering being able to breathe this easy before.

The door would then open as Nappa walked into the room. "So, you've finally decided that you didn't need to train like that anymore?" He asked, seeing Raditz in nothing but his base armor/gi combo. The larger saiyan himself looking more muscled than before himself and his beard had grown out, having forgotten his razor back at Capsule Corp. "Let's get you healed up and then we can start training for real."

Raditz looked at himself and repeatedly open and closed his hand, his body feeling absolutely weightless. "No, I don't think I need it. Let's head outside and we can go all out." Without any hesitation, he started walking for the exit, hardly noticing how fast he was walking.

Nappa looked rather concerned at Raditz's confidence but it also got him rather excited, rushing outside after him. Nappa would shake his head as the irritating effects of the time chamber washed over him but set that feeling aside due to his anticipation of a real fight against Raditz after 23 weeks. "Alright, let's get to Super Saiyan and let our hearts out!"

Raditz looked around, not looking as bothered by the effects of the time chamber, taking a deep breath. "Not just yet. I want to test my defenses and see if my body really has toughened up after all that." He'd then get into a ready stance. "Hit me with your strongest blast!"

Nappa did a double take to make sure he wasn't hallucinating. Never had Raditz wanted to do something so reckless and it was throwing the Saiyan Elite off. Nappa, however, wouldn't back down from this challenge as he flexed his muscles and unleashed his strength, a surge of power blowing off him and pushing the ship back a little. "Don't go blaming me for anything that might happen." He reared his arm back, gathering energy to his hand, creating a glow of crackling red around his hand. "Take this! Bomber DX!" The brute fired his signature attack at his partner, who spread himself out and braced for the hit as the collision created an explosion and smoke.

As the smoke cleared, Raditz simply stood there, his armor completely broken though his body seems to only be scratched from the full power attack. He sighed in relief as it became clear that the training clearly worked as intended, his body not even feeling numb after taking the blast head on. "Alright, that's a good enough wake up call. Let's do this for real." He'd take one more deep breath before transforming to Super Saiyan without hesitation, hardly noticing the shift in power.

"Alright! I've waited weeks for those words!" He roared out as he also took the Super Saiyan transformation. The force of two Super Saiyans was enough to push the ship and knock it over. "First move's mine!" He charged forward at full speed and thrust his arm at Raditz, aiming for his center to reduce the chances of the Saiyan managing to dodge the attack. It came as a huge surprise when he'd find his arm hit nothing but air, coming to a stop a meter from his intended destination as he turned around, his opponent simply standing where he had transformed, no signs of having actually made a move. "When the hell did you have time to dodge?"

Raditz looked at his hand and waved it around a bit, seeing a small afterimage effect. "Alright, so my speed has significantly increased alongside my speed." He'd turn around and clench his fist, leaning his weight on his right foot as he prepared to charge forward. "Now it's time to test my strength." With one strong push, he'd charge forward and head to the saiyan, moving as fast as he was able. He'd then become surprised as Nappa was nowhere to be found as he moved, surprised his partner was able to dodge so well. His surprise would only increase as he turned around and found that Nappa was still standing in the same spot. It wasn't that his partner was able to dodgem it's that he himself had become too fast and he hadn't properly adjusted to it.

Nappa turned his head to where he was detecting Raditz and could see the look of shock on his face. The brute fell silent for a few moments before bursting out laughing. "Now I can see why Kakarot refused to use that training. Can't use properly practice in such a confined space." He'd take a deep breath and turned his head before firing off a powerful mouth laser while sweeping his head to the other side, blasting the surrounding area around Raditz, forcing him to dodge while using his hands to unleash a barrage of energy into the sky to hit the retreating saiyan.

In a rather effortless attempt to dodge the sweeping blast, Raditz quickly found himself in the sky, staring down a swarm of attacks headed his way. He took a deep breath as he held out one hand towards the incoming attacks before screaming, firing a ball of energy from his hand that missed all of Nappa's attacks. He'd then close his hand, causing a reaction in the attack that caused it to explode and fragment, shooting out in all directions, dispersing the blasts. "Let's call that one the Wednesday Grenade." Less than a second from speaking, he felt a fist collide into his cheek from above, sending him to the ground. He'd get back up to his feet with little hesitation and rubbed his cheek.

"Getting a little careless aren't we? Cell isn't going to just stand around and let you show off your new arsenal." cried out Nappa from above as he lowered himself to the ground. He took a large breath as he prepared another mouth blast. Raditz would raise his arms up in preparation to fire a counter-attack. Nappa would then throw his head forward but rather than open his mouth up wide, he'd purse his lips to leave only a small opening, firing a small but fast blast akin to Freeza's Death Beam. Raditz would stiffen at the sudden variation of the brute's attack and instead crosses his arms to guard against the blast as it would create an explosion upon contact. Nappa would not relent however as he surrounded both hands in crackling energy before bringing both hands up, unleashing a Blast Geyser with twice the radius.

Raditz grunted in pain as he was caught in the center of the blazing attack. The pain made it difficult to move and he knew that Nappa's level of control had improved enough to keep this up for a minute at the very least. With little options at his disposal, he'd grit his teeth and cry out in pain and rage as his aura flared up around him exerting his energy all around him to leave a small bubble within the raging inferno long enough to fire off a Double Sunday at Nappa. The brute was forced to drop his focus on the attack and dodge out of the way, narrowly dodging the impact, though was still knocked back by the explosion. Once freed, Raditz dropped from his Super Saiyan state, taking a deep breath as it became clear that despite how powerful his body had become, he needed to adjust to it before he can properly fight, especially someone as powerful as Cell. He'd put his scouter back on and turn on the recording. "Follow up report on the results of training. Despite the excellent results of the training method, it leaves you with a complete sense of loss of connection to the body. Would not recommend for Nion when she hits the proper age for gravity training, assuming we manage to defeat Cell after this." He'd then cut the recording right after.

Nappa walked over to Raditz and crossed his arms. "Not being super confident are you? We have 6 Super Saiyans in total. There's no way Cell's going to win against all of us, and you know it."

Raditz took the scouter off as he stared off into the white void. "I guess it's not that we can't finish him, but that we might not all make it this time." He'd turn and start walking to the ship, working to straighten it back up. "After all, with Piccolo's fusion with Kami, we no longer have Dragon Balls to revive ourselves and everyone Cell killed, not to mention we don't have a way to find where the Namekians are now to use their Dragon Balls."

"Well when you put it like that, it sounds like there's a guarantee that one or more of us are going to die." Nappa walked over to help put the ship back up, feeling responsible for knocking it over. "I can't blame you truthfully. I've seen how he was able to overpower Vegeta in his perfect form, and judging by his demeanor he was holding back the whole time. And with no way to know what all he's capable of, all we can do is train."

Hearing that last part sparked an idea in Raditz, taking another look at his hand as he gets that same afterimage effect. "Yeah, you might have a point there. But we didn't spend nearly half a year in here to train and then believe all hope is lost. Let's show that overgrown cockroach that we're not just sidekicks, but full blown warriors!"

Day 358

"One week left until we've used up all the time allotted to us. Nappa and I have shown tremendous progress in our training. Estimated chances of success against Cell without casualty have increased from around 28% to 76%. I've long since discussed my plan against Cell to Nappa and while he's still against it, he shows no signs of stopping me. After today's spar, our plan is to properly rest for the next week, then leave the chamber. This will be my last entry. It's been an excruciating year, but I think seeing Nion after all this time will put me at ease."

Raditz turned off the recording and took at deep breath, leaning against the wall as a wave of exhaustion suddenly washed over him. While having the ship certainly lessened the stress to his mind, being alone with just Nappa, who did most of his training solo anyway, left the saiyan with a small case of claustrophobia. He shook his head and hit himself in the chest, something he hardly felt by now as his training had made his body incredibly sturdy. He stepped outside and saw Nappa in the white void, arms crossed as he had clearly been waiting for this fight for at least a couple minutes. "Sorry to keep you waiting, I had to finish some things up."

Nappa slammed his fist into his palm as his aura was already started to release from his body, grinning as he couldn't contain his excitement at this point. "You better believe you kept me waiting. 20 whole weeks of only training, drives a guy mad you know. Now you better be in proper control of yourself this time around because I'm not pulling any punches."

Raditz pressed the button on his ship to change it back into a capsule, knowing that they were likely to destroy it in their fight if left out. He'd then fly over to the chamber entrance to set his capsules by the door so he would know where it was. After that he'd step back out into the voice and stare at Nappa, narrowing his eyes in determination to not hold back. "Oh don't worry, I'm fully ready to take you on at max power." With very little hesitation, he transformed to Super Saiyan and rushed at Nappa.

The brute didn't show any surprise or hesitation as he transformed as well, holding up both his arms up to block both the simultaneous kick and tail attack from his friend. He'd respond by flinging his fingers upward, creating a Blast Geyser under both the saiyans in a radius too large to dodge. Both saiyans would leap out of the geyser on opposite ends, unharmed from the attack as they'd both prepared barriers around their bodies to withstand the infernal technique.

As the flames dispersed, they stared at each other with excitement, neither planning to back down. Nappa was the first to strike as he swiped his hand to the side, creating a series of rapid-fire explosions leading their way to Raditz from all directions. The saiyan responded by slamming his palm against the ground, spreading his energy into the ground, the white floor starting to change to a magenta-like color that spread from around Raditz before being engulfed in electrical energy, the attacks cancelling each other out. Raditz would feel his tail twitch and his gaze shifts, wrapping his tail around Nappa's arm as the brute tried to sneak up from behind, Raditz responding by shooting his leg backwards, striking his friend in the chin and knocking him back.

Nappa began to chuckle as he wiped the blood from his lips as he opened the palm of the hand being held by the tail, a small energy ball the size of a marble revealing itself before flashing and detonating into an explosion that knocked both saiyans away from each other. Each got back up with very little delay, taking deep breaths as that last attack knocked the wind out of them, both of their armor damaged and showing scratches on their body. "You certainly have gotten better. Your response time is almost supernatural."

"What can I say?" asked Raditz, shaking his head to regain his focus. "While I was still trying to readjust my body to my power, I relied solely on my instincts to be able to move around correctly. Now I can rely on them while also using my body to its fullest. Speaking of which.." He turned his gaze to his right arm, weighing the pros and cons of his move before deciding to go for it anyway, knowing he can rest in the healing pod for a week. "I think it's about time I hit you with my best technique!"

At the declaration, Nappa was shocked to hear it. He'd been with Raditz for almost an entire year and had never once seen him use the technique known as the 'Doomsday Finish'. While he was ever so curious to witness what it could do, this was still a match that he knew he wanted to win. "Then I'll just have to hit you with all I've got too. With all the energy control I've been doing, the Bomber DX is now far stronger than it's ever been!" He held his hand behind him as energy started pulsing around his arm, charging up his signature move.

Raditz flared his aura out as he was letting out his full power. His aura would then start collecting itself around the saiyan's arm, causing great pain despite all the training. Even so, it was far more bearable and didn't break his concentration, or his body, to get it to this point. The energy would continue gathering to his hand as it started collecting into a small. swirling sphere of yellow energy, Raditz taking deep breaths as he's ecstatic to have gotten to this point without his arm breaking while gathering the energy. "I hope you're ready for this!"

Nappa grinned as his eyes went wide with pure joy, ready to hit his friend with everything he's got. "Here I come Raditz!"

The brute rushed forward, quickly closing the distance as he brought his arm forward to fire his technique. The strategic saiyan didn't back away or try to dodge as Nappa came close. He simply threw his arm forward as if he intended to throw the sphere.

"Bomber DX!"

"Doomsday Finish!"

The colliding energy while the attacks were less than from a foot away from each other as they were unleashed would then result in a bright flash of light, creating a tremendous amount of force that flung both saiyans away from each other and to the ground, crashing painfully. As they looked up at the point of collision, both saiyans looked in total disbelief as they witnessed a tear in the very fabric of chamber's space-time. The tear didn't last very long as it would close itself as the energy dissipated, both looking to each other after it disappeared and began to laugh, unsure how else to feel about such an accomplishment.

Day 365

As the saiyans both awoke from their beds, they didn't seem to interact with each other as they both started dressing themselves, Raditz in his gi/armor combo while Nappa put on a brand new yellow and black gi that Chi-Chi had made him and Vegeta months ago but neither of them dared to actually put it on. It was surprisingly cozy and was easy to move his body in compared to his armor. Turning to Raditz to get his opinion, the saiyan only gave a smirk and a thumbs up. The two of them had a large and quiet breakfast before finally heading out of the ship, turning it back into a capsule and began walking for the front door.

Nappa stared at the ground for a moment before turning to look at his training partner. "Are you absolutely sure about this? It's not necessary for you to do and there's a good chance you might die because of it. We don't have a way to bring you back if you die, and you did promise your daughter that you'd live through this."

Raditz sighed as he stepped right in front of the door before turning around. "I'm entirely certain. Cell is an enemy that can't be defeated by pure strength alone, a strategy is needed if everyone is to survive and the only way to do that is by learning about what Cell can do." He turned back around and grabbed the handle to the door. "So the day after tomorrow, I'm going to fight Cell myself before his Tournament even begins."

Holy crap this chapter gave me such a migraine. To give you a summary, I kept coming up with a serious case of writer's block throughout the year on how to write this chapter as it's incredibly limiting on what I can do as I was trapped in one place with the two characters that actually change this story from the canon. Not to mention back in January I managed to get a new full-time job so that ate away a lot of the free time I once had. In the end I had to put this story on hiatus. In an ironic way this kind of works out as it'll have been an entire year for our characters while one year has passed for us as well. I know I could have down this chapter a lot better but I couldn't work with my usual flow due to having to stop and start at different points every couple months. I hope you liked it anyway and I will try to ease back into working on this again now that I've gotten a hang of my job.
