"Wake up," Jamie's niece whispers while trying to wake her up, "she still sleeping," she says to the two mechs before leaving the room.
"I told you not to stay up late," Drift comments, seeing Jamie is awake but too tired to get out of bed, "come on, up. I'll carry you if I have to," Jamie smiles, getting Crosshairs to laugh, "you just want me to carry you," Drift smiles.
He gives in and picks Jamie up bridal style and carries her upstairs, wrapped in her red blanket.
He sits on the couch holding Jamie. Crosshairs sits next to him and watch the two kids explore their unwrapped presents. Jamie is handed a bag and three wrapped presents that are easy to tell our clothes.
In the bag are the transformers toys and model kit Jamie ordered. She let her mom take them, but Crosshairs and Drift think she thought her mom would wrap them.
"Still funny seeing the toys and other stuff around our species in this dimension," Crosshairs whispers to Drift.
Jamie's mom also got her a ring. Though it's not an expensive birthstone ring.
"Hmm, diamond, I wonder — ow!" Crosshairs comments as he gets elbowed in the gut.
"You're enjoying this way too much. Besides, it was cheap. I don't think the others would take it as an engagement ring, and I'm not sure if they know she doesn't care if we get married. Also, with how she doesn't want to say we're together...you know."
As Drift and Jamie get dressed for the day, Drift can tell Jamie is trying not to cry.
It's not any better than I know what's wrong. Drift dreads. That bad that being with the kids hurt, huh?
He hugs Jamie before they go back upstairs.
Jamie tries to keep busy with her writing as the kids play with their new toys. Both her guardians worry about how much seeing the kids upsets her. Something they'll have to talk about later. Drift didn't think Optimus would text asking how Jamie is doing after texting merry Christmas. He knows he can't ignore the text, but it's only ten in the morning, and he'd be ruining Optimus' and likely Ratchet's day.
"Go while she's not paying attention," Crosshairs whispers.
He watches Drift go down to the basement, hating he can't do anything but watch Jamie be upset, and Drift cannot give her what she wants.
Ten minutes pass before Drift comes back upstairs, not looking happy.
"Well, I ruined Optimus' and Ratchet's Christmas. Even if they wanted to know," Drift sighs, "I know she goes through periods like this often, but I hate how challenging her mental state is this time."
Crosshairs hugs Drift, hoping he'll relax before Jamie notices that Drift is upset.
An hour passes before Jamie's younger brother arrives, and the popular appetizer pigs in a blanket are done. While the two mechs know Jamie doesn't eat much, which could cause her not to eat dinner, they know how fast these go, they don't stop her from getting some pigs in a blanket.
Once Jamie gets a plate, her mom insists she sits back on the couch. Her younger brother got her and her parents' cards with gift cards. The three of them noticed he wrote 'mom' and 'dad' on the parents' cards, but Jamie's real name and last name were on her card.
"He's weird," Crosshairs whispers.
"It's a strange choice," Drift replies, whispering.
They then find out that strangely one last present for Jamie was saved, though, like the Transformers toys, this is not a surprise, but the three of them know the others will be surprised seeing a board game was made based on them. Drift waits until later to give Jamie his present.
Jamie watchess T.V. on her phone since only Crosshairs and Drift will watch what she's watching until dinner is done. She's fine for ten minutes before the two mechs watch Jamie go to her parents' room. They follow her into the room and watch her lie on the bed, and continue to watch T.V. on her phone.
Drift stands by the bed, seeing Jamie is trying not to cry. He sighs, frustrated. The two mechs listen to the family talk for twenty minutes before Jamie's mom wonders where she is. They're happy Jamie doesn't have to explain anything.
Jamie stays in the room until dinner, where she's quiet. She eats more than her guardians thought she would before feeling full. Jamie sits on the couch, hoping to go downstairs soon and trying not to tear up. It's a long hour before everyone goes home, and Jamie can go down to her room.
The three of them sit on Jamie's bed. Jamie tries not to cry as her two mechs hug her. Drift gets a small box from his bag.
"Look what Drift has," Crosshairs points at Drift, "I think he's going to do something."
"Crosshairs just wants me to," Drift quickly replies, "but this is from both of us, remember?" He sits on the bed and opens the box, revealing a silver band with four green peridot and three red garnet stones alternating, "because we both love you."
The two mechs don't know what else to say as Drift puts the ring on Jamie's right ring finger, not caring if that's not where a fashion ring is supposed to be. The three watch T.V. Crosshairs and Drift hope things will get better for Jamie come the new year.
