BONUS CHAPTER! Because you all are amazing!
Previously on A Heya Love Story...
Antonio points to Naya's room door just as nurses rush past them and through her door while they hear the monitor sound. Antonio's eyes widen and he goes from dad to head doctor mode and bolts in while he holds a finger up for Heather to stay u til he knows what's going on.
The heart monitor blares once again creating a frenzy around her room.
"NO!" Heather says frantically as Antonio rushed inside the room telling her to wait outside.
"NO!" Heather cried out attempting to get a glimpse into the room but the door closed as the nurses and doctors were trying to see what made her heart monitor go off. The heart monitor was indicating that her pulse was rapidly spiking. Naya hated hospitals, especially when her wife wasn't with her so she was likely getting herself all worked up therefore triggering her monitor.
Heather was in fierce protective wife mode and was about ready to break down that God damn door if someone didn't let her in. She has had enough of being separated from her wife when she needed her most. If they didn't open that door in one fucking minute she was prepared to smash that door down and deal with the aftermath later. She was sick of this shitty protocol, nobody would keep her away from her wife another second. She knew how much her wife was terrified of hospitals and being secluded would only terrify her. The thought alone had Heather seething.
Just when Heather was about to kick open the heavy solid wooden door to the room her wife was in, she heard the latch on the door and saw Antonio peek through the and motioned for Heather to come over which she did promptly.
"The heart monitor went off because she's panicking, she keeps begging for you. She needs you. Try and calm her down, okay? We need to get her fixed up but she won't unless you're there. I don't know what the hell happened during the crash but she's so traumatized." Antonio sighs sadly and all Heather could do was nod urgently and scramble through the door.
Heather and Antonio walked into Naya's hospital room quickly. A nurse was getting her situated in the bed and another giving her some pain relief. Another older nurse was making notes in her chart.
Naya was laying on the flat white bed while the nurses were trying to clean and prep her injuries for stitches to control the bleeding but Naya was frantic and bawling.
"No! Oh my God! This hurts so damn bad! I need Heather!" Naya sobbed out and the sound of her wife in pain was enough to make her sob right along with her and also want to scream for someone to help her! Heather ran as fast as she could to her wife's bedside.
"My love, I'm here, beautiful. I'm here!" Heather rushed out and Naya opened her eyes since they were squinted tight in pain and made contact with those blue eyes since she had been begging to see since this nightmare happened. Naya sobbed trying to lift her right hand as much as possible to summon her wife as close as possible.
"Heather!" Naya choked out.
Heather sat on the bed quickly but softly so she didn't jostle her wife. Heather leaned down and pressed her lips softly but passionately to her wife's. Heather brought her legs up on the bed and ever so gently wrapped her arm behind Naya's upper back and was massaging her head, of course, all while being extremely cautious of her wife's gash on her head.
"Oh, beautiful. Oh, thank God!" Heather looks at her wife and just stares into her eyes has tears were running down both of their faces. "You scared me to death," Heather mumbled with tears falling from her blue eyes as she gently ran the back of her hand down her wife's cheek. "I'm right here with you. I'm not leaving." Heather assures as Naya tried to take a breath to calm herself but cried out in pain. Heather was alarmed because her wife was in excruciating pain and that was not okay with her.
"What is it beautiful?!" Heather said urgently but tried to be as calm and collected as she could manage given the circumstances and not try to get Naya worked up again.
"I ha...have broken ribs. Baby, it hurts so bad." Naya whined as she started wailing but winced as she did that because of the pressure and pain it put on her ribs and breathing. Heather felt completely helpless and powerless.
"Oh God, my love. Okay, I'm here." Heather said as she leaned over to her wife and kissed her on the lips as gently as possible but it wasn't enough for Naya.
"I need you. Baby, I need you." Naya sobbed despite the horrendous pain she was experiencing as her broken ribs were jostled around and her body shook with sobs. Heather knew she needed to calm her down and fast so she slowly and with barely any movement hoisted herself in the bed once again next to Naya and placed a section of the thin hospital pillow on her shoulder so Naya could rest against her without disrupting the wound on her head.
Heather sank further and eased her wife against her body and brought the arm up that was against the bed and lifted it over them to carefully massage her fingers on her scalp soothingly while her left arm was grazing and tickling her arms and cheek ever so gently.
"I've got you. I'm staying with you, beautiful. Lean on me while they fix you up. I'm here now. Your pain meds will kick in soon and they won't start anything until it does. I won't have you in more pain than you already are. No chance in hell. I love you so damn much, Naya." Heather whispered while running her fingers and massaging Naya's head not caring about the dried blood. She didn't care about anything but being there for her wife.
"Mhmm, I love you so much, Heather. Please don't leave me, please don't leave!... Oh my God, Sophia! Where is my baby?!" Naya said quickly getting herself worked up and Heather steadied her breathing hastily and reassured her of their daughter's whereabouts.
"Sophia is in the private waiting room with everyone and your family. My family is on their way. The entire crew is here too." Heather informed her wife and Naya couldn't help but smile knowing how many people really loved her and were sitting in a boring waiting room for her. "Sophia sobbed when she heard you were hurt and she cried herself to sleep after fifteen minutes of crying on the way here. Jenna and I were holding her since we were the ones next to her in the car. It was fucking heartbreaking!" Heather mumbled and Naya shook her head not believing this even happened. "Chris is distracting her and they are coloring and making some cards for you." Heather smiled and Naya gave a small smile back before wincing in pain.
"Naya can we finish cleaning you up my dear?" an older nurse asked and Naya squeezed her eyes together before clutching her wife needing to feel her closeness. Heather wrapped her arm around her wife and held her making sure to be mindful of her injuries. Antonio looked on seeing the monitor slowly return to normal now that Heather was by her side.
Heather began singing softly as the nurse was sterilizing and flushing the deep wounds before stitching them up.
I love you, I love you, I love you, like never before...
In the private waiting room, all their friends and family were waiting impatiently and anxiously for any details. Susan had texted Yolanda and said they were just getting into town and would be there shortly.
"Heather's family is almost here..." Yolanda breathed out just glad they got here safely. Their minds must have been spinning and they probably weren't in the best mindset to drive, the last thing they needed was another accident.
"Oh thank God. Hemo needs them." Harry said earning nods from around the room.
"How the hell is this happening!" Amber groaned out and rubbed her hands over her face.
"It's like in one split second everything can change..." Lea sighed, her arms wrapped around her legs in her chair.
"Do we have any idea who did this?" Cory asked looking around the room.
"No clue. Antonio mentioned there would be some police officers coming to the room this evening so hopefully, we will get some more information as well as find out what exactly happened with the accident." Yolanda asked while Diana handed her a cup of tea from the Keurig machine off to the side. "Thank you, sweetheart," Yolanda said appreciatively.
How are you two doing?" Chord asked looking towards Naya's two siblings. They both looked beat.
"Barely hanging on if I'm being completely honest. That phone call was hell. Whoever fucking did this and nearly killed my sister..." Naya said a mixture between overly emotional and pure fury.
"Let's just say they better watch out," Mychal warned eerily low.
"God, this is a nightmare..." Vanessa sighed while she was slumped in one of the chairs against the wall.
"Nay Nay..." Kevin said heartbreakingly.
Sophia rubbed her eyes and laid her head on the table and started crying. This was so much for her little mind and heart to process. She was tired, scared out of her mind, confused, and anxious.
"Mami..." Sophia whimpered and Nickayla quickly got up and lifted her out of the chair and held her close. "Kiki, I want my mami." Sophia cried heartbreakingly as shaking sobs took over her tiny body.
"I know sweetheart. Momma is making sure she's getting all better and that she wasn't in there all alone. You'll see her very soon Soph. Aren't you glad momma is with her though so she feels safe?" Nickayla comforted as she rubbed her nieces back.
"Yeah. Momma always keeps mami safe. I want to keep mami safe too but they won't let me in!" Sophia cried and Nickayla held her close.
"Very soon baby. You'll see her very soon. I promise." Nickayla assured.
After about five minutes, they heard a soft knock on the door and moments later saw a familiar face peek into the room.
"Where is Naya? Is she okay?" Becca pleaded and everyone's eyes darted in her direction looking incredibly confused why she would show up here after what happened.
"Did Heather not make herself perfectly clear to stay away from her daughter and wife. She would kill if she knew you were here right now." Amber said and Sophia tensed immediately squeezing Nickayla. The Rivera's we're clueless as to what was going on.
"Here..." Chris said holding out his arms for his goddaughter and Nicklayla passed her over while Amber filled the family in.
"She's in the back getting examined but this is not the time for this Becca. This is for friends and family only," Jenna said harshly and the Rivera's looked on with disbelief and anger completely understanding why the friends were reacting like this. Yolanda and Mychal glance over to Chris who is holding and distracting Sophia.
"Theyre all such good friends to Heather and Naya..." Mychal whispered to his mom
"They are angels. Every single one of them and they love that little girl. I'm so glad that Heather, Naya, and Sophia have that kind of love." Yolanda says as they watch Chris and Sophia playing I spy out the window that overlooked the busy city.
"Becca, from what I've heard you really shouldn't be here, it's not the time, we've all had a terrible day and don't need any more angst." Yolanda pleaded hoping the blonde would take the rather obvious hint and leave.
"I am her friend," Becca said crossing her arms. "We work together just like all of your work with her!" Becca said.
"Yeah, not close enough especially after the shit you've pulled," Amber growled
"Well, I'll wait with y'all and see how she is," Becca replied and everyone was about to protest and tell her there was no way she was staying when they saw Antonio come though. Everyone's heads shot up expectantly.
"Abuelo! I need mami!" Sophia cried as she reached for her grandfather who took her in his arms and placed a kiss on her cheek.
"She's in a lot of pain but it was a thousand times better now that Heather is with her." Antonio said as he glanced around and his eyes landed on the blonde girl he has never met and seemed to question who she was and how she knows Naya. It was pretty obvious to everyone he was curious.
Chris didn't want Antonio to go on with any more personal information until she left. That wasn't information that needed to be known to her.
"Antonio, I'm sorry but kindly hold on one moment." Chris said and Antonio looked confused before Chris went on. "Becca it's time to go." Chris urged and walked towards the door. Antonio was beyond confused.
"Why the hell?!" Becca tried to argue.
"Now! Leave! Nobody is in the mood for this shit today and I'm sure when Dr. Rivera finds out what you pulled with this family he won't hesitate to call security. Leave!" Amber said sternly.
Becca rolled her eyes and closed the door rather harshly before everyone turned their attention back to Antinio.
"Sorry sir, she's been causing trouble on and off set and I didn't want her to hear personal information about Naya. Please go on..." Chris urged and Antonio was still confused but knew somebody would explain sooner or later. He was extremely thankful for that group of people who were looking out for his family.
"She was given a dose of pain meds so the pain is much more tolerable at the moment despite the severe injuries. We will still have to go in to do X-rays tomorrow morning and determine if any reproductive organs were damaged when the piece of metal pierced her stomach." Antonio informed and everyone lowered their heads and cringed at the thought of the amount of pain their friend went through. Never mind the idea that something was damaged internally and she wouldn't be able to carry more children. That would kill them both.
"Nieta, do you want to go see your mami for a little bit?" Antonio asked Sophia softly and she nodded assuringly before glancing up at him.
"Abuelo I need to give mami cuddles so she knows not to be scared!" Sophia pleaded she was so much like Heather and was so protective of her mami. She must have learned and observed from watching how Heather treated Naya. Antonio and the others let out a smile at the sweet little girl.
"Oh, my darling! Don't forget your cards! Did everyone sign the group card?" Chris asked and Sophia smiled remembering the cards she made.
"Oh, I haven't!" Antonio said before setting Sophia down and walking over to the table where the handmade cards were. "Do you have a blue or red crayon Nieta? You know those are my favorite colors!" Antonio smiled and Sophia smiled and eagerly handed her abuelo a dark blue crayon and he signed his name making her smile with pride.
"Did everyone else sign my mami's super special card?" Sophia asked and everyone nodded with a gleaming grin. "Ok! Abuelo let's go! I need to give mami extra special hugs and kisses." Sophia insisted and Antonio lifted her and kissed his wife on the cheek letting her know Naya would be okay and once she is settled in her permanent room they can come see her.
Naya was finally in a place where she was somewhat comfortable after receiving the pain meds. She could still feel her wounds but it was nothing compared to the pure hell she was going through before and it took the edge off so it was bearable. The fact that her wife was next to her made the largest difference. The amount of comfort and strength Naya gets from Heather is unlike any medicine she could take.
"God, baby, I'm so glad your here. I needed you so bad." Naya mumbled as a tear ran down her cheek at the memory of screaming for her wife the entire time. Heather took a deep breath and trembled at the thought of her wife needing her and she wasn't there for her. "And this is not your fault so don't even go there..." Naya lightly scolded already recognizing her wife was starting to come up with ways to blame herself.
"I knew I shouldn't have let you go! I had this bizarre feeling all fucking day and it got worse the second you pulled out of that parking lot. I knew something was going to happen. Naya I know you better than I know myself. I could have prevented this...I could have..." Heather sighs out and starts becoming emotional when there was a light knock on the door. Heather wiped her tears as Naya kissed her shoulder. They both looked up and saw Antonio peek his head in and smile softly at the girls.
"Hey, you two. Mija, are you up for a little visitor?" Antonio grinned and a sunny smile came across Naya's face.
"Is it my baby girl?" Naya asked with an almost pleading tone. Antonio nodded slightly and the rest of his body slid through the door and Sophia was laying on his shoulder with her face inward. She was crying and her little fist was up by her eye trying to furiously wipe her tears.
"Mami..." Sophia cried and Heather opened her arms and Antonio brought Sophia to Heather. Sophia reached out for Heather who carefully leaned back against the back of the hospital bed so that she was propped up so they were only sitting back slightly. Heather adjusted Sophia in her lap sideways so she was facing her mami. Naya had a tear slide down her eye at seeing her baby girl after what could have been much more devastating situation for all of them.
Sophia leaned forward and with featherlight pressure, wiped the tear-off Naya's cheek.
"Mami I love you so much. I was so scared." Sophia said wiping her wet eyes. She was being so delicate and loving with her mami for only being four years old, well In a few days that is, she was an absolute treasure.
Naya dabbed her eyes and tried her best not to break down completely. Heather was watching their daughter and attempting to do the same. This girl just had such a kind and gentle soul. Heather laid on her side so there was enough room for Sophia to sneak in between them. She did it ever so carefully until she was on her side facing her mami and with Heather on her side behind her.
"Oh Mija, I love you more than anything. I'm so proud of how strong you were today. Momma told me you were so brave." Naya said sucking in a breath when she felt a pain in her stomach and leg knowing the pain medication was wearing off since they started her on a lower dosage. Heather looked at Antonio who knowingly nodded and he went out of the room to get more pain medication for his daughter.
"Your dad went to get you more pain medicine my love," Heather said massaging her wife's head.
"Oh no. Mami's owie is hurting!" Sophia sniffles as Antonio rushes back in a minute later and inserts the syringe of pain meds into his daughter's IV.
Once Antonio was finished he disposed of the syringe and removed his gloves before turning his head to his granddaughter who spoke up in a very caring but authoritative Heather-like tone.
"Abuelo can you give me that blankie por favor (Please)?" Sophia asked and Heather assumed she was cold so she smiled at Antonio and accepted the knit blanket that was folded in the corner. She put it over her daughter but Sophia instead sat up very slowly and carefully and draped it over Naya before kissing her on the cheek softly and laying back down.
"Thank you abuelo. Mami gets cold easily and especially when her tummy hurts. Momma said she has a bad tummy owie." Sophia says before sitting up to place a light kiss on Naya's stomach where the stitched-up wound was now underneath the blanket. "Don't be sad mami. We're here with you now. You were so brave. Like a unicorn." Sophia said and Naya couldn't help but stare in disbelief at her wife as unleashed began to fall down her cheeks. Most children would probably be begging to get out of a hospital and see their friends but their nearly four-year-old was just concentrating and doing everything she knew how to do to make her mami feel better.
"You're okay mami. Momma and I are here." Sophia assured and kissed the arm she was snuggled into which wasn't her bad arm. Naya wanted to melt at her little Heather mini. She knew this wasn't how most toddlers treated their moms but here she was having both a wife and daughter who loved her more than anything. It made so much of her pain go away.
I love you, I love you, I love you, like never before...
Sophia sang quietly while her tiny and gripped her good arm and snuggled against Naya. Her beautiful daughter thought to sing the song that they always same to her when she needed comforting. Naya looked up at her wife with watery eyes and mouthed, oh my god while Heather shook her head softly in awe at the precious little girl laying between them. Sophia looked up to Naya and kisses her arm.
"Momma?" Sophia said softly and both her moms looked down at her.
"Yes, my little love?" Heather said running her fingers through her daughter's long dark hair.
"Can you massage mami's head? It helps her get sleepy. Be super duper careful of her owie though, okay?" Sophia requested and Naya smiled almost shyly because her daughter was so damn perfect. Heather smiled widely and nodded she readjusted slightly and followed her three-year-old orders
"My nieta is coming for my job aren't you kiddo?" Antonio smiled with his arms crossed as he looked at the little family. Sophia turned her head and giggled.
"Oh no abuelo, that's silly! I'm only this many!" Sophia said holding up four fingers.
"Not yet baby girl. Still a couple more weeks!" Heather smiled at her daughter. Antonio smiles
"Does mami need anything else that you can think of Dr. Soph?" Antonio asked in a serious tone as if we were consulting with his colleagues. He knew how much Sophia liked to feel important. Naya and Heather smiled at their little girl who was really playing this up.
Sophia tapped her chin and thought this through before looking at her mami who was barely keeping her eyes open. Sophia smiled because her idea of having Heather massage Naya's has was working.
"Mami do your owies hurt right now?" Sophia asked and Naya shook her head and softly said no. Sophia nodded before turning back to her abuelo.
"Her owies don't hurt right now so the unicorn medicine is working!" Sophia said quietly but happily making both of her moms release a smile. It felt good to let a smile escape their faces. The afternoon had been pure hell for them as a complete nightmare that could have changed their life forever.
"Oh, that makes me so happy. Alright Dr. Soph, you come to get me if mami needs me okay? We will be transferring her to a private exclusive room here shortly." Antonio said and everyone nodded
"I'll have my peoples call your peoples," Sophia stated matter of fact and saluted her abuelo. Antonio and Heather let out a giggle but Naya could only smile because her broken ribs would become insanely painful if she moved too much.
Once Antonio shut the door, Sophia, carefully with Heather's help, tucked the blanket around Naya and they both kissed her.
"Sleep tight mami. Don't worry, momma and I will stay right here." Sophia assured softly and Naya opened her eyes briefly with a look of complete bliss despite the horrible day. Anytime she was surrounded by these two people she was safe.
"Te amo, mi amor. Thank you so much for being the best daughter in the world. Mami is so grateful for you baby girl." Naya says with watery tired eyes and Sophia kisses the arm she's snuggling.
"Te amo to mami. You and momma are the best parts of my life." Sophia says yawning too. Everyone was exhausted.
Naya smiles and glances up at her wife. "Love you, baby, thank you for getting here so fast. I need you so bad. Please don't leave me." Naya pleaded before she fell asleep. Heather looked over and saw Sophia was passed out as well. Heather settled and kissed her wife's head. Later tonight she wanted to hear what happened but she wanted her wife to rest.
"I'm never leaving you. I'm always right here." Heather whispered before succumbing to sleep.
About an hour later Antonio came into the private waiting room where all their friends were waiting and they were going to move Naya to a private room in an exclusive part of the hospital for high profile patients and visitors. Since the entire cast of a huge hit tv show was here Antonio got Naya the private suite with a larger hospital bed as well as an on-suite that's connected to the room so they could visit and be there without the fear of being followed and bothered.
"Hey, you guys," Antonio said opening the door. Susan, Andrew, and Ashley we're now in the room as well.
"Well hello, family!" Antonio greeted as he walked over and welcomed the three Morris' before taking a seat next to his wife in the chair against the wall. The entire group of friends had stopped their individual conversations to get the latest update about Naya.
"Oh Antonio, how's our girl?" Susan begged as she clutched Yolanda's hand leaning over to see Antonio in the chair on the other side of her.
"She's got some significant cuts and injuries. One of which was a large piece of metal that penetrated her abdomen near her ribs." Susan gasped and let go of Yolanda's hand to put both of her own hands over her mouth. Andrew was rubbing his face in distress.
"Dear God..." Ashley sighed. It was really damn hard for her not to run In there and take over her sisters care. The doctor in her was coming out and it was hard to be in a hospital and not be in work mode.
"We stitched it up for now but we may have to go in after we do an x-ray tomorrow morning to see what kind of damage was done internally. There have been injuries I've seen many times where the uterus or other reproductive organs are damaged and that prevents the woman from..." Antonio explains
"Having babies..." Ashley mumbled knowingly.
"No!" Susan cried out in a heartbreaking tone and Yolanda hugged her tightly. The thought alone was heartbreaking and nobody had told Naya this information yet so she had no idea that was a possibility.
"No, no! Everything will be just fine. There's no other option. Naya will be just fine." Susan stammered and Andrew was rubbing her back soothingly trying to be of comfort to his wife while trying to process what was happening himself.
"We are going to move her soon but the family can come in and see her quick before we transfer rooms and once we get upstairs we will move you all to a private waiting room up there and/or you can hang out in the on-suite room that's connected to her hospital room," Antonio explained and the group nodded and smiled. They were so glad they would be able to be with Naya.
"Alright you six, I'll take you to her room. Everyone else the transfer should take about thirty minutes once we get everything hooked up and set up in the new room then I'll come back and get you all, alright?" Antonio said glancing back to the crew.
"Thanks, Dr. Rivera" Diana said
"Antonio, please," Antonio replied with a friendly smile. "We will be back soon, in the meantime why do you all run to the cafeteria on the main floor and grab something to eat. I'm assuming your lunch break was cut short." Antonio said and they all looked at each other and agreed they were pretty hungry. Now that they knew their friend was alive and was going to survive it was a little easier to think about keeping food down.
Antonio, Yolanda, Susan, Andrew, Nickayla, Ashley, and Mychal all approach the room. Antonio is the only one in that group that has seen her so none of them really know what they are walking in on.
Antonio puts a finger over his lips and turns back to the door. If she was asleep they didn't want to wake her up. He knew Heather was still in there and it was useless to try and get her to leave her wife's side. It just wasn't happening. Antonio truly loved Heather like his own daughter. The way she stepped up for his daughter was nothing short of remarkable. Then there was miss Sophia. That girl was a diamond. Just the most stunning, precious, beautiful child to ever exist. She wasn't rough or bouncing around and acting hyper to see her mami, she remained soothing and loving. Antonio had never seen any child like that in all his years in medicine.
He opened the door softly and couldn't help but smile wildly as the rest of the family quietly followed him into the small hospital room. Once they came into the room they looked immediately at the bed expecting to just see Naya but we were met with a completely different sight.
"Ohh I can't..." Susan said with a hand over her heart.
She was glancing at the smaller hospital bed where Heather, Naya, and Sophia were all cuddled together. Naya was laying on her back with her head tilted to the side. Sophia was holding Naya's good arm and her face was also tucked into her mami's arm. The covers were draped over all three of them. Heather was on her side facing her girls with her stomach pressed against Sophia's back and her face right by Naya's. They were all snuggled together.
"Oh, would you look at that..." Yolanda whispered just taking in the view. Nickayla was taking a photo of the three sleeping on the bed.
"Seriously they are the cutest human beings in the world..." Ashley said shaking her head.
"No kidding...but dad is she really okay? Those look like a lot of stitches and some pretty intense injuries..." Mychal questioned. Antonio nodded.
"She went through a lot today. The pain alone was horrendous. She was screaming I was told. It was intense. We can thank God she is alive. I honestly don't know how she is but she made it. It's a complete miracle. The minute Heather came in with her she calmed down enough for the team of nurses to fix her up." Antonio said before sighing. "We still have that x-ray tomorrow to check her stomach and hopefully we won't have to do surgery to repair anything or worse..." Antonio said and both Susan and Yolanda grabbed each other's hands. The thought alone was too much to bear, let alone having to tell Naya.
Antonio walked over to the bed knowing he had to get Naya transferred and comfortable for the night in the new room. He patted Heather's shoulder softly until she squinted her eyes and looked around noticing her family.
"Hey..." Heather said tiredly and sat up slowly making sure not to jostle her wife and daughter. Once she was up she stretched her arms above her head before holding them out to hug her mother, father, and sister whom she hasn't seen yet since they arrived.
"Sweetie! How are you holding up?" Susan asked and Heather shook her head before crossing her arms and looking at her wife.
"Ma I almost lost her today...I...that call... Sophia's face, I can't..." Heather choked out and broke down in her mom's arms. Andrew rubbed her back while Ashley kissed her head.
"I can't imagine honey. We couldn't be more thankful for the outcome this had. Have you heard at all what happened?" Andrew asked and Heather and Antonio both shook their heads. Other than her injuries they had no idea.
"We will ask her tonight, the police will certainly be here to ask some questions at some point before visiting hours are over," Antonio said and everybody nodded.
"Are we going up now?" Heather asked looking at Antonio.
"Yeah. Do you want to grab Soph and we will get her wheeled up to the new room? I told your friends they can come up once we are up there too." Antonio said and Heather nodded.
Heather walked over to the bed and brushed some of the hair out of her daughter's face before kissing her cheek.
"Sophia, my love," Heather said just above a whisper. Sophia shifted slightly without loosening her grip on her mami's arm. "Soph they have to bring mami to a bigger room so you have to get off the bed but once we are settled in I'm sure mami would love for you to lay with her again, okay?" Heather asked and Sophia looked at Naya who hadn't woken up.
"Mami might be scared though and what if she wakes up and we aren't with her! Mami will think we left her! We can't leave mami!" Sophia pleaded emotionally. Everyone was teary because Sophia was being so strong and loving completely acting like her momma in this predicament. Everybody was in awe of that little girl.
"Baby girl, I promise we will follow the nurses and abuelo. If mami wakes up she will know we are right there. You don't need to worry my sweet girl. You have been so wonderful and perfect to your mami this whole time, angel. You have no idea how lucky we both are to have you." Heather said cupping her daughter's face that looked so much like her wife. Her dimples, her lightly tanned skin, dark hair, her nose, and lips but contrasted by her light blue eyes.
"I love you momma and I love mami so much. Okay...but we can't leave her. Abuelo we can't leave her. I'm a Doctor now so I make the rules remember?" Sophia said seriously making Heather and Antonio smirk while the others look on in confusion and amusement.
"Oh yeah, Soph went to med school and works here now..." Antonio said to the rest of the family just to clarify the confusion. The other five still looked on with amused smiles.
"I'm like super smart..." Sophia nodded affirmatively.
"Come on my super-smart child... Let's get up so mami can get in her more comfy bigger bed." Heather said and Sophia softly kissed Naya's arm before holding her arms up so Heather could pick her up.
About twenty minutes later they were on the 20th floor in their brand new room. It was like a hotel suite with a lounge area and a full-size hospital bed. There was an adjoining room with a full-size bed and bath as well. There was nobody in the hall roaming around so the cast didn't feel like they had to be stuffed into a sterile waiting room in order not to be seen.
Naya ended up waking up during the transfer and Heather and Antonio could tell she was due for another dose of pain meds. She initially panicked seeing both of her girls she fell asleep with suddenly weren't there but were quickly reassured in the elevator when Sophia patted her head softly letting her mami know they were right there with her which make both Naya and Heather smile.
About fifteen minutes it was just Heather and Naya in the room. The grandparents had convinced a very reluctant Sophia to come to the cafeteria with them since they knew she would want to go back to the room when the crew was up there. The cast was able to walk the halls and were out in the big common area of the private wing. There was a wall of glass windows that overlooked downtown so they were looking out and chatting about the fucked-up day they all had. Ryan was being kept in the loop through the group chat anytime there was new info. They didn't want one single person to be in charge of having to give all the updates so they did it on the cast and crew group chat so anyone could update whenever.
Heather was sitting on Naya's bedside and noticed she looked particularly pale and her hands were clammy.
"Are you okay, my love?" Heather asked just as the heart monitor flat-lined...
