Previously on a Heya Love Story...

The officers look at each other and then back at Naya and Heather hesitantly. Naya tenses because they both look like they have something to say.

"What are you both not telling us?" Heather asked and the male officer spoke up.

"We have information on the driver of the pickup..." he says.

"We have information on the driver of the pickup that I know you will both want to hear." the male officer declares and Naya and Heather glance at each other nervously. Not one bit of this sounded good, just by the look in the officer's eyes they knew.

Everyone around the room leaned forward but had anxious expressions on their faces. Nobody knew what the hell they were even preparing themselves for, but with the direction that their day was going so far, they predicted it wasn't going to be promising.

Naya and Heather looked back at the officer and held hands before he went on.

"Naya, do you remember seeing police around after the accident?" the female officer asked and Naya nodded her head immediately.

"Yeah. I remember looking up and seeing a large group of officers and maybe four or five police cars surrounding the pickup. That number is probably not exact but it was a large group." Naya said nervously. "What's going on?" Naya finished and Heather lifted the hand of the arm that wasn't wrapped and placed a kiss on her knuckles that had a bunch of paper-cut like scrapes all over.

"There was a report called in about a stolen Ford F150 white pickup that slammed into your car and upon reviewing the license plate we can confirm it was the same stolen vehicle. At this time we are trying to locate the driver." the male officer said and everyone's eyes widened in shock. This is not what they expected.

"Where is this person now?" Antonio asked urgently and the officer turned his head towards the dark-haired Doctor.

"They managed to escape on foot after the accident hence why all the police officers were surrounding the area. Originally we presumed that due to the harsh impact there was no way they could have gotten out of that unscathed, however, they were nowhere near the vehicle or in the area." the male officer replied to Antonio but Andrew looks terribly confused.

"Hold on, that's one of the busiest intersections in the damn city, how could a single person not see him leave?" Andrew asked validly and everyone nodded while looking back at the two officers for an explanation.

"We guess that they had a getaway car and another person helping them." the female officer said before leaning forward and looking at the injured woman in front of her. "Naya, do you have any enemies, unfriendly acquaintances, any stalkers or unruly fans, or anybody you can think of that may have a reason to do this?" the female officer asked carefully but urgently. The sooner they had a list of suspects the sooner they could find out who did this.

Naya froze her actions from fiddling with Heather's hands and tipped her head up quickly to look back and forth between the officers.

"Wait, are you asking if I know of anyone that would have tried to hurt or kill me?" Naya said in a terrified tone and Heather sat up and hugged her wife as gently as she could. She just needed to hold her close. A question like that would horrify anybody.

The group of people in the room all gasped as they cupped their hands over their mouth at the sheer thought of someone going that far and nearly behind successful at killing their friend.

"Hold up, there are tons of high profile stores on Sunset, why aren't you guys looking through every store's security footage that was around the crash site, one of them will surely tell us something. The person couldn't have just disappeared out of thin air! There's no way in hell they are getting away with almost killing my wife." Heather growls and holds Naya. Antonio and Yolanda can see the fire in her eyes and the protective tone in her voice.

"I'll let you know if I can think of anyone. Would you mind if I get some rest? My chest is hurting badly from all the talking." Naya winced and Heather nodded letting them know they were done for the night.

"Alright, if you happen to think of anything please call the station's number or preferably one of our personal numbers which are written on the back. Any information no matter how insignificant is helpful so please don't hesitate. Take care, Mrs. Rivera-Morris. We will talk to you soon." the male officer said and Antonio escorted them out.

As soon as the solid wood door to the large hospital suite closed Naya leaned back slowly in the bed and burst into tears. Her ribs and chest were throbbing because of it but she couldn't hold it in anymore. The fact that someone may have tried to deliberately do this to her and take her away from her family was way too much to take in.

Antonio and Yolanda looked completely broken as well as Andrew and Susan. Naya's siblings were hugging each other and the crew was all wiping their falling tears at the hell their poor friend has been through today.

"Oh, my love, come here sweetheart," Heather said as she laid down more with her wife and opened her arms. Naya carefully maneuvered herself into her wife's embrace while squinting at the pain. Once she was able to get comfortable she laid her head on Heather's chest and sighed and she continued to cry and let out all of her emotions. "I've got you, beautiful. I'm right here, okay. I'm not leaving you..." Heather says before she's interrupted.

"Me either..." A little high-pitched raspy voice says from the doorway to the on-suite. Everyone turned and saw Sophia standing there with her blankie and bunny in hand and once she heard her mami crying she ran over and used the passed bench that was against the foot of the bed to crawl up. "Oh mami. Don't be sad. We will keep you safe now." Sophia said innocently.

Heather and Naya were laying in the center of the bed and Naya lifted her head from Heather's chest to see her beautiful daughter being extremely gentle and sitting behind Naya on the other side so Naya was in the middle. Naya wiped her eyes even though she was still crying. She wanted to stop especially around Sophia but it was like she couldn't control it, everything was coming out at once.

"Ba...baby. Do y...you want to...sit between m...me and momma?" Naya stammered and choked out but Sophia shook her head and sat behind Naya and crossed her legs. She took her quilt and spread it over her mami making sure her feet her covered too. She grabbed her bunny from where she had put it on the foot when she was climbing up on the bed and leaned over to put it right in front of Naya so it was up against her chest.

"No, no mami. You get to be in the middle so we can make you not sad. Nobody will hurt you. Right momma?" Sophia said looking up at Heather who was really close to sobbing like her wife was. How can a child be this precious? Sometimes she swore there was no way Sophia could be real.

"You are so special and so right my little love," Heather said lovingly. Naya was still crying almost embarrassingly that she was letting all this out in front of her daughter but she honestly couldn't help it and Sophia being too sweet wasn't making it easier to stop.

Everyone was staring at them with their jaws dropped. This little girl was something out of a movie. She loved her mothers unconditionally and the three of them together were unbreakable.

"Oh my God..." Antonio breathed out. This tough doctor shell he had was slowly fizzling away the longer he watched the scene in front of him.

"My babies..." Susan said and Yolanda leaned on her shoulder as she wiped under her eye.

Never in my life did I think I would be blessed with a bonus daughter and Neita like that..." Yolanda said.

"Unbelievable..." Andrew breathed out as she hugged Ashley. The crew was all around the room taking in the sweet sight. Four years ago they coolant believe Naya and Heather were going to shake up this dynamic of their group and add a child to the mix but four years later they could never imagine their lives without this little girl. Of course, nobody knew Vanessa was sneakily recording. She always has the best sense for when it's time to press that record button.

Heather continued to hold a crying Naya while Sophia kissed her mami's head and petted her hair as you would do with a dog. Sophia was sitting cross-legged facing her mom up by her head and works lean over and placing gentle kisses on her cheek.

"Don't be scared to cry mami. I don't like to cry either but you tell me it's good sometimes. It lets all the bad feelings out. Today was a lot of bad feelings." Sophia said and everyone looked at this little girl in shock at her ability to make things so simple.

"I love you my Mija, so much," Naya said tearfully wiping her eyes on Heather's shirt.

"I love you more mami. Remember when we went to the store and they were all out of my whip cream and I cried because I was sad? It's because my heart was hurting and it made me feel better to cry. You can cry too and me and momma will hold you until you feel better and bunny will help you. Sometimes I tie his long ears in a bow and he gets mad but it makes me super happy so you can do that too if you want." Sophia said and the room lightly giggled at this little girl's ability to put a smile on your face while completely melting your heart at the same time.

Naya slowly with Heather's help rolls onto her back wincing ever so slightly at the tightness from her surgery and the pain of her broken ribs. Not to mention the stitches on her head, arm, stomach, and thigh. Every square inch of her body was in pain. Once Naya was on her back Sophia looked down at her mom since she was still sitting up cross-legged.

Naya can't help but smile through her tears looking at the face of her sweet, caring, empathetic little girl. How she raised anything so perfect and pure is beyond her. Sometimes she thought she was staring at an actual angel in human form.

"God, I just love you so much Mija. You are such a blessing." Naya said teary-eyed. Sophia bent down to place a kiss on her cheek and nose.

"I love you so much mami. Are you sleepy?" Sophia asked completely taking over as her mami's caretaker and Naya couldn't wipe the smile off her face even though she was still wiping tears.

"Very sleepy. It's been a bad day, Mija." Naya said not even trying to fib to her daughter. Sophia nodded and realized she and Heather were still in the clothes from the day and her momma was still in set clothes. Naya was wearing a hospital gown.

"Momma, we need to change into our cozy clothes and then we can snuggle with mami, okay?" Sophia said and Heather nodded. She succumbed and let her daughter rule the roost tonight because it was too damn adorable. Naya just looked on adoringly.

"I will go put on the super cozy jammies that uncle Kurtsy brought for me. Sophia says before kissing Naya on the cheek making her blush.

"Momma don't leave mami until I come back, do you promise?" Sophia said sweetly but sternly and Heather saluted. Sophia slid down the bed onto the padded bench before her feet connected with the tile floor and she ran to the attached bedroom where her pink glittery suitcase was.

While Sophia was changing everyone was giggling around the room asking themselves if she was real.

"Is she serious?" Lea smiles with her arms crossed and Susan looks at her and giggles

"She is such a treasure. I wouldn't even have to be her grandmother to say how exceptional she is." Susan says with a smile leaning against the counter by Yolanda.

"Naya that little girl loves you so much. I've never seen a child love and respect their parents as that girl does with you." Yolanda says and both Naya and Heather look at each other and smile because they knew how true that was. Their baby girl was everything.

They all looked toward the doorway when they saw Sophia in a two-piece pajama set with pink pants and a shirt with a unicorn in it. She held her brush in her hand.

"Kiki, Ashley, can you help me brush my hair and my teeth. The sink is too grown up. I'm short..." Sophia pouted and the girls got up and they were heading to the connected bathroom in the on-suite. Sophia looked over to make sure that her momma kept her word and was still by Naya. Heather giggled from here she was massaging her wife's head.

"Don't worry Soph, I'm not leaving mami until you get back," Heather assured her daughter with a smile and Sophia turned and ran into the bedroom to finish her nighttime routine. Naya shook her head.

"God I love her so much," Naya says and everyone smiles

"Yeah, I think she might like you too Nay." Amber winked and Naya smiles.

About five minutes later Sophia was coming out of the bedroom with her hair fluffed out and brushed. Her hair was so long and gorgeous and now reached her lower back. Her bright blue eyes and dimples were on display. Sophia was carrying a rolled-up gray knitted blanket that was super big but she was determined. She tossed it up on the bed before climbing up the bench and onto the bed.

"Okay momma now you can get cozy too. I'll take care of mami. I even brought her favorite blankie so she can have two!" Sophia said and Heather shook her head and held her arms out for her baby girl who crawled over to the edge of the bed where Heather was now standing and gave her a big hug.

"I've never been so proud of you in my life, beautiful. You have been so strong today through everything but most of all you've shown your mami so much love and understanding. You are so wise behind your almost four years." Heather said with a smile. "We love you so much, my little love. Thank you for being you, honey." Heather said and of course, everyone went from giggling back to wiping their eyes once again.

"I would do anything for my mommies," Sophia responded simply causing tears to fall from Naya's eyes again along with everyone else. "Okay momma go get in cozy jammies so you can come cuddle!" Sophia smiled and Heather did as she was told.

"Watch my girls!" Heather said gesturing to everyone as she walked into the on-suite.

"Okay, mami are you chilly?" Sophia asked and Naya nodded her head. Sophia nodded and crawls to the foot of the bed and starts spreading out the large knitted blanket over Naya until it was covering her. Naya was laying flat on her back. "Are you thirsty mami?" Sophia asked and Naya looked at her water and winced. "Yeah, but I can't sit up sweetheart," Naya said as a tear came down. Antonio walked over and helped her lean up while Sophia grabbed the cup with a straw and held it for her mami. Sophia set the cup on the table and petted her mami's head.

"Mami does it hurt?" Sophia asked sadly and Naya nodded wincing with tears knowing her medication was wearing off. Sophia looks up at her abuelo. "Abuelo, mami needs medicine. Can you go get some? They can't see me over the desk cause I'm short." Sophia said seriously and everyone couldn't help but let out a short chuckle, even Naya before she went back to wincing.

"Here mami. Squeeze bunny, he won't mind." Sophia says as she gives Naya the bunny and watches her squeeze it and Sophia sinks into the bed beside her mami and cups her face.

"Abuelo is getting you medicine, mami. You'll be okay." Sophia says as her little palms are on her mami's cheeks and she kisses her in the nose just as Antonio walks in with the syringe and walks over to put it into her IV right away.

"Mija, you should feel that kick in within a couple of minutes," Antonio says and Naya hums.

"Where does it hurt mami?" Sophia asked and Naya wipes a tear and pointed to her stomach. Sophia lifts the blankets and places the gentlest of kisses next to her large bandage where the large piece of metal was lodged. Naya smiled as Sophia places feather-light kisses next to every visible scratch and injury Naya had. Naya melted as did everyone else.

"You are the sweetest little girl Mija," Naya said lovingly.

"I just love you." Sophia shrugged and Naya had to take as deep of a breath as she could to will the tears away. Sophia pulled the blanket up a little more over her mami and sat cross-legged facing Naya who was laying on her back. "Close your eyes mami. Hold my hand so you know I won't leave you. I'll sing you our song." Sophia said and Naya sniffled and puckered her lips. Sophia smiles while bending down and placing a kiss on her mami's lips. Naya did as she was told and closed his eyes and she held onto her little hand. Everyone was nearly put to sleep by the softness mixed with the high raspy tone of Sophia's little voice. She held her mami's hand with one of hers while her right hand was petting her long hair.

For you, there'll be no more crying

For you, the sun will be shining

And I feel that when I'm with you

It's alright, I know it's right

To you, I'll give the world

To you, I'll never be cold

'Cause I feel that when I'm with you

It's alright, I know it's right

And the songbirds are singing,

Like they know the score

And I love you, I love you, I love you

Like never before

And I wish you all the love in the world

But most of all, I wish it from myself

And the songbirds keep singing

Like they know the score

And I love you, I love you, I love you

Like never before, like never before,

Like never before

Heather was watching the entire time Sophia was singing and stood in the doorway of the bedroom leaning against the doorframe. Naya had fallen asleep but Sophia never let go of her or stopped petting her hair. Heather approached the bed behind Sophia and hugged her from behind and kissed her cheek.

"That was the most beautiful thing I have ever seen, my love. I wish I would have that on video." Heather says and a minute later as she's brushing through her medium-length hair and hears her phone beep signaling a new message. She grabs it off the table and looks confused when she sees it's from Vanessa but her texts were always worth it so she opens it and clicks a video and it plays starting at the moment Sophia woke up and climbed on the bed hearing Naya sob to just seconds ago where Heather wished it was recorded. Heather looks at Vanessa and opens her arms which Vanessa walks into and they hug tightly.

"God I love all of you so much. Thank you for everything. You all have been our rock and we could not have done this without you." Heather said as she separated from the hug and went down the line to give every one of her friends the hug they deserved. "You all need to go home and get some rest. Here, let me call in Uber's for everyone who doesn't have a car." Heather says as she finished her line of hugs and was about to pick up her phone when Lea spoke up.

"Hemo, it's all good they are just staying at my house that way if something comes up we can all get here quick, and tomorrow we can all come together again. Just give us a call tomorrow when Nay is up for some company. Soph, you take care of your mami, okay?" Lea says with a wink and Sophia smiles back from where she is petting Naya's head and holding her hand. Heather looks back and smiles at her girls.

"You are all the best. Thank you so much! Get some sleep, we won't wake you up too early." Heather assures.

"Heather, we don't care. If something comes up with any of you three, you call us. Is that clear?" Amber said and Heather nodded with a smile. The four older adults looked on at the relationship the friends shared and were amazed at the intense bond they shared.

The friends waved and blew kisses as they all quietly shuffled out of the room and down the hallway.

"Alright Heather, you sure you'll be okay if we leave?" Susan asks her daughter who nods and goes to hug all four of them.

"And you're sure you don't want us to take Sophia with us?" Antonio asked and Heather looked at him.

"You really think Sophia will leave Naya?" Heather replied pointing behind her to where Sophia was kissing Naya's head and singing quietly to her mami. Heather blushed before looking back at the four older adults who were looking on with the cheesiest proud grins on their faces.

"Yeah, I'm guessing she wouldn't go for that." Yolanda giggled and walked over to her daughter and kissed her lightly on the head before cupping Sophia's face and kissing her on the forehead.

"Buenas noches nieta. Te amo. (good night my granddaughter. I love you)" Yolanda whispered to the little girl who smiled back and kissed her abuela's cheek.

"Noche noche abuela. Te amo. (Night night grandma. I love you)" Sophia replied before her abuelo, grandpa, and grandma say goodbye before reluctantly leaving. Heather could tell they hated to leave but they all needed rest after the day they've had.

March 10th, 2019 (Day after the crash)

Naya was able to get a little sleep because of the sleep medicine and pain medication they had given her for the evening. It was pretty restless because she would have flashbacks to the crash and her eyes would snap open take in her surroundings. This happened five or six times throughout the night. Every time it did, Heather would be caressing and comforting her right away. Her X-rays were moved to the next morning because the doctor they specifically requested to perform the X-rays and exam had an emergency surgery so they had the choice to use another doctor but they opted to reschedule for the following morning.

Around 10:00 am Chris, Amber, Jenna, Diana, Lea, and Vanessa came in. Susan and Yolanda had come around 8:00 am. The guys decided to give the girls some time. Chris always went with the girl's group.

The six friends arrived in the room and Heather was sitting on the bed holding Naya's hand while they talked and laughed lightly, well Heather would laugh and Naya would just smirk since it was too painful to laugh. Heather leaned over to place a sweet and tender kiss on her wife's lips, neither Heather nor Naya had seen the six of their friends walk in until Lea spoke up.

"Freakin Adorable!" Lea said bouncing slightly on her heels.

"I know! They're so darn perfect together" Vanessa replied

"Oh! Hi, ladies and Chris" Heather greeted as she noticed them for the first time but she never let go of Naya's hand and Naya kept a tight grasp on hers.

"Thank you guys for bringing breakfast, you are the greatest," Heather said with a smile

"That was really sweet of you all" Susan said from the far corner where she had been reading and watching the girls talk with a smile on her face.

"Sweet Barbara! Susan, you startled me!" Lea shouted

Heather and Naya rolled their eyes, "You should know by now, Lea that Ma likes to hide in corners and pretend to read while snooping on everyone."

"This is true. It's a guilty pleasure of mine that I don't actually feel guilty about." Susan said as she stood up and walked over to the six friends. "Besides I pushed you out of my body after what felt like twenty months and then you put me through twelve hours of labor. You owe me." Susan scolded

"Damn Ma, where's the love?" Heather asked

"It's actually in…" Susan started

"Stop!" Heather said rapidly, "There are way too many ways that you could respond, and knowing you I don't want to hear any of them." Heather finished while rolling her eyes.

"Smart move, it would have thoroughly embarrassed you in front of your friends and your wife. I can't wait to teach Sophia everything I know." Susan smirked, as Heather shook her head furiously while Naya smiled and looked on amused.

"Speaking of... Where's my little darling?" Chris asked looking around the room and they all seem to notice they haven't seen Sophia yet.

"My mom is giving her a bath in the spare room," Naya said softly. Heather smiled and kissed her wife on the cheek.

"How are you feeling? Did you need some meds? I don't want you to be in unnecessary pain, my love." Heather spoke while kissing her wife on the lips.

"I can definitely tell it's wearing off..." Naya spoke and Heather was pressing the red call button on the side of the bed before Naya had even finished her sentence. Susan was shaking her head.

"It's almost as if you like her Heather..." Susan asked while pouring herself a cup of coffee. Naya leaned her head back and smiled. She missed this dysfunctional family dynamic. Everybody's been on pins and needles the last twenty-four hours so it's nice to hear some joking around. Especially from her mother-in-law.

A male nurse came in a moment later and gave Naya more pain medicine before updating her chart and leaving the room.

"He was hot...Chris" Susan winked

"Oh my God! Ma! Would you stop it?" Heather whined while Naya and everybody else had smiles on their faces.

"Actually Susan, you'll be pleased to know I've been on a couple of dates recently!" Chris said and Susan looked shocked.

"With the same fella?" Susan asked and Chris nodded. Susan clapped like Sophia would while bouncing on her feet she pointed to the coffee machine. "Grab a cup and meet me at the window seat. I need details!" Susan ordered and Chris didn't skip a beat.

"Phew! We dodged the bullet!" Diana said and all the girls laughed before Susan shouts from across the room

"Yeah right! When my sweet Christopher has given me the 411, I expect updates from all of you. Nice try though...Even you Naya! Susan said as she settled in her chair by the window. All the girls groaned and Naya tilted her head up and looked at her bonus mom in confusion.

"I'm not dating anymore..." Naya said

"You better not be..." Heather smirked

"Really? No lucky duck on the side to keep my daughter on her toes?" Susan starts and Chris shakes his head and laughs.

"Not yet, but the day's still young..." Naya jokes and winks at her wife who playfully glares at her.

"See now, Christopher, that's an example of a semi-functional relationship..." Susan explained and the other five friends laughed.

"If my wife and daughter don't kill me, that woman will," Heather muttered

"Heard that!" Susan shouted

"Of course, you did" Heather let out then turned to look at Naya who was looking at her with raised brows as well as the other five other girls. "What?" Heather asked looking at everyone.

"Don't say stuff like that Heather!" Amber exclaimed, "You both scared the shit out of us yesterday. Half the time we didn't know if either of you were going to survive this..." Amber finished

Heather sighed, looked back at Naya, and squeezed her hand, "Sorry, my love. I shouldn't have said that." Heather mumbled

"Whipped" Susan mumbled making Chris smirk as he brought the coffee cup up to his lips and the other friends look at her with smirks. God, Susan was a riot. Heather rolled her eyes and leaned back in the bed as Naya rolled her eyes and smiled. It's true. Heather was so damn whipped.

The day went pretty smoothly. Naya was in a significant amount of pain from her major surgery and her extremely tender wounds throughout her body so the pain meds she was receiving were a godsend. Heather was, of course, the best wife ever and Sophia was the most precious thing to ever exist and nobody could deny it.

It was a little after 5:30 pm and the nurse and Mychal were helping Naya stand and try to walk around a little bit. Sophia went to the cafeteria for a snack with her grandparents and Mychal agreed to stay with Naya. Heather refused to leave if Naya would be alone, that was out of the question. Mychal had convinced Heather that he hasn't gotten a ton of time with his sister so this would be a nice time for the two which made Heather give in.

It was important for Naya to not stiffen up her already tense muscles and keep her lungs moving for very short periods so the nurses decided they would start tonight just by walking from one end of their hotel suite to the other and starting very small. The older female day shift nurse was also beside them. Naya loved her. Was probably around fifty years old and was so sweet to them.

"You've got it Naya, well done! Go nice and slow now, this will help you gain your strength back little by little" the nurse smiled as she and Mychal were both helping Naya walk from the bed to the chair against the wall.

Naya was honestly struggling not to pass out. The pain was severe but she knew that she had to fight through it. Naya convinced an extremely reluctant Heather to go get herself something to eat with Sophia and their parents. Naya wanted to be able to show them some kind of improvement when they all came back into the room. When Naya had eventually made it to the armchair it should have felt incredible to exude a little energy and walk around a bit but she physically felt worse and she must have looked it too.

"Naya, are you feeling alright? You look really pale, sis. I'll be right back." Mychal said quickly before jogging out of the room and into the hallway.

The family was walking towards Naya's room when they saw Mychal jog out of it and speak to a nurse with alarm on his face which made Heather run towards them. The nurse ran with Mychal into the room quickly followed by Heather and the rest of them which included Sophia who was on Andrew's hip.

When Heather got in there the first thing she noticed was that Naya wasn't in the bed. She looked over at the chair that Mychal and the nurse were crowded around. Then the nurse ran out of the door quickly.

"What's wrong? Why's she in the chair?" Heather asked quickly while walking over to the chair that Naya was sitting in. Heather crouched down and grabbed her wife's right hand. Her hand was clammy. In fact, her face was clammy as well.

Naya didn't look good at all. She was as pale as she had been when her lung was punctured.

"Physical Therapy wanted her to get to the chair today. She did but after she sat down she looked like this." Mychal answered, "I knew it was too much too soon."

The nurse came back in with three others to get her back into the bed. They ushered everyone out of the room and closed the door but of course, Heather stayed, nobody could tell her to leave right now. Nobody said anything while they waited. Sophia was getting really nervous and jittery since Ashley took her and kept her out in the hall while they checked Naya.

After about five minutes the door opened and the three extra nurses left. The family quickly shuffled into the room. Naya was back in the full-sized bed while the nurse injected pain medicine into her IV. Their siblings went into the side room with Sophia to get out of the way and keep her entertained, or at least try to. Sophia wanted to be by her mami. When the nurse finished she explained that she had given Naya pain and nausea medicine before she updated her chart and made her way out of the room.

"Hey, beautiful" Heather said as she looked at her wife and grinned a little as Naya opened her eyes and smiled "There's my beautiful girl. We talked about this...you need to stop scaring me!" Heather scolded and Naya smiled

"Sorry baby. Damn, I'm tired and my limbs feel like jelly" Naya croaked out, her throat feeling extra dry.

"Do you want some water, my love?" Heather asked and Naya nodded

Okay, hold on a sec" Heather said and reached over to grab Naya's cup off the side table and held it for her wide to drink from the straw. "Hey, Ma, can you grab me a cold washcloth from the bathroom cabinet?" Heather asked and she looked over quickly when she heard a high-pitched voice from the bedroom doorway.

"Oh, I will Momma!" Sophia squealed and Yolanda followed Sophia to the bathroom so she could help her. Naya and Heather smiled at that little girl

A minute later Sophia ran out Into the main room with a cold wet washcloth and climbed on the padded bench and up to the bed.

"Mami are you feeling better?" Sophia asked with a frown. She hated seeing her mom in pain. Naya was honest with her little girl.

"Mami's hurting but I'll be okay. Thank you for taking such good care of me baby girl." Naya said with a smile. Sophia kissed her forehead.

"You're my mami and I'm your Sophia," Sophia said simply and Naya shook her head at this amazing young girl. She still doesn't know how she made something so perfect.

"Close your eyes mami. This will make you feel better..." Sophia said as she did such a good job at dabbing the washcloth all over her mom's face, neck, and arms. Heather couldn't be more proud of this little girl they raised. Honestly, Sophia's amazingness had never little do to with them though, Sophia has something inside of her that can't be taught. She's just a living, breathing angel. There is no other way to describe it.

My love, tomorrow we are going to clean you up and get all that blood and everything else out of your gorgeous hair, okay? I know you will feel so much better." Heather said and didn't notice how Chris, Lea, and Sophia looked at each other with a knowing look. What were they thinking? Can't be anything good with those three...

By 7:30 pm their friends had left for the day and it was just Heather, Naya, and Sophia in the room.

The night shift nurse and doctor, Heather and Dr. Banks, had come by the room around 7:15 pm and done a simple examination. Heather watched that man like a damn hawk the entire time he had his hands on her wife.

They checked Naya's surgical incision as well as her other major wounds and stitches, as well as examined her shoulder that was out of place from the impact. After they looked at her shoulder, Dr. Banks, who was being extra professional and attentive after what he had said the previous day, asked Claire to bring in an arm sling. Naya bit her lip and grimaced in pain as they maneuvered her arm, which hurt like hell, into the sling. Heather massaged her head and Sophia stroked her other arm with her tiny hands while kissing her cheek. Naya had no idea what she would do without her girls.

"It looks like your due for another dose of pain medicine," Claire said as she looked at her watch once they were done and back at her chart to see when the latest dose was administered, "I'll go get some." She and the doctor left

A minute later, Claire came back in and gave Naya some pain meds through her IV. Claire had been extra careful to not be too talkative with Heather once she found out that Naya was Dr. Rivera's daughter. After Claire left the room, Heather walked back over to Naya and sat down on the bed by her wife and daughter.

"You scared the crap out of me today, my love" Heather said bluntly and Sophia nodded

"Mami I was so scared. My heart was hurting when yours was hurting." Sophia somberly stated with a frown making both women want to cry.

"I'm sorry baby. I'm sorry Mija. I pushed it way too far but I really wanted to show you some improvement." Naya couldn't meet Heather or Sophia's gaze and see those worried looks on their faces. Naya was disappointed in herself because she had really wanted to have improved at least a little bit but she just kept messing up and scaring Heather and her daughter.

Heather reached over and lightly lifted Naya's chin so that she would look at her. "My love, healing takes time. You can't rush your body. This just happened yesterday! If you push yourself too far then you could end up even more injured and I can't have that. Please be careful." Heather pleaded as she stroked her wife's cheek

"Yeah mami! I and momma worry so much! I can call abuelo if I need to!" Sophia scolded with her little hands on her hips as she sat cross-legged on the bed.

"I'm so sorry, Dr. Soph. Please don't tell abuelo..." Naya pouted and played along with her daughter's threat.

"Oh no! Not the lip!" Sophia says and surprises both of her mommies when tears well up in her bright blue eyes. Heather instantly bends over and wipes her tears still startled by the sudden change. Naya is sitting there with her eyes wide and her pout only got bigger after seeing her daughter tear up.

"Oh, sweetheart, what's wrong?" Naya said rubbing her knee with the palm of her hand.

"I don't like when you pout because it means your sad and it makes me sad because I love you so much..." Sophia sniffles out and rubs her wet eyes with her little fists. Naya and Heather share a look of complete awe and motion for Sophia to lay between them.

"Sophia, can you look at me, mi amor?" Naya asks and Sophia wipes her blue eyes before looking up at her mami. "Sophia, when you were growing in my belly I knew you were something completely special and unique. There was never going to be anyone or anything like you." Naya said as she kissed her daughter's hair as she said on her good shoulder. "Sophia, you are the bravest, most courageous, loving, empathetic, little girl, with the oldest and most loyal little soul I've ever seen in my life. Sophia, you are me and momma's entire world. You are our pride and joy, our greatest accomplishment, we just love you so much and thank you for being here for me since I got all my owies" Naya finishes, and Sophia wiped her eyes and kissed Naya's jawline. She grabbed Heather's hand and they all cuddled together.

"I love you mommies. You make me super brave and strong so I can be super brave and strong do you too. I love my mommies so much. More than unicorns and whipped cream...and that's a super-duper lot!" Sophia explained as the girls smiled and snuggled close. Heather say up and stacked two pillows under Naya's arm in the sling is she could rest it before she raised the bed railings for the night which was a hospital requirement.

Just after 8:30 pm, Heather's phone started ringing and it was an unknown number. She hated these but decided to answer anyway. Naya looked over at her as she hit the speakerphone and held the phone out in front of her. Sophia was sound asleep between the two of them.

"Hello?" Heather said into the phone.

"Heather?" A voice that sounded terribly raspy almost like a person would sound if they've been screaming and yelling all day. This person barely had a voice anymore.

"Who is this?" Heather asked as Naya looked at the phone with a puzzled yet spooked-out expression. Nothing else was said on the other line.

They heard a lot of muffled shuffling around and what seemed like faint yelling in the background. Naya and Heather looked at each other both alarmed and confused before the line went dead and Heather looked at the screen to see that the call was ended.

Who was this? Whoever that was on the phone knew exactly who Heather was...
