Summary: Suggestion from the Mandalorian terminator. Takes place a week after the previous chapter

One look from him was all it took M'gann to usher Dick into her house and lead him to her couch. Conner was out…somewhere, so it was just them and Wolf and Sphere.

"What's wrong?" Dick sighed and plopped down on the couch, running both hands through his messy hair.

"It's…Zee. We're having a fight." He groaned loudly and started tugging on his raven locks.

Nobody else could make him this emotionally confused. He felt a mix of anger, irritation, guilt, and yet somehow love.

He just needed someone to talk to, someone who cared about his relationship and was good at giving advice.

M'gann was the first one who came to mind.

It was no surprise that she was his initial choice. M'gann was the most open and caring person he knew. Plus, he was honestly much more comfortable discussing his feelings with his female friends, especially since his primary male confidante was no longer here to support him.

As Dick leaned back and groaned in frustration, the Martian frowned and wrapped an arm around his shoulders.

"What happened?" He sighed again.

"I don't even know, it was all just…we were going out and I got annoyed, I told her she was being distant and not letting me in, she told me I was being too hasty and not caring about what she wanted, we started yelling at her apartment, and I kinda stormed out. I-I know I was a jerk to her, b-but she was just…" he let out a rather annoyed groan, "unbelievable. Like, all I've ever done is look out for her and put her before me. How can she say I'm ignoring her feelings now?!"

M'gann stayed silent for a moment to soak in what she had been told.

"Well…maybe you should try to look at things from her perspective. I mean, she's probably just…cautious."

"Cautious about what? I thought we were both excited for this, but now she's asking me to give space? I-I wasn't even that forward…"

"I think I know why. Actually, Conner and I are having similar issues, from time to time."

"You are?" M'gann nodded.

"Reconnecting with him has been…slow. We both love each other, m-more than anything, but after the whole mind melting, he's still a bit slow to trust me. A-and he has every right to be. What I did to him…most people wouldn't ever forgive me for. The fact that I've been given a second chance is…" Grayson placed a hand over M'gann's own and she smiled, "I guess what I'm trying to say is…you made mistakes with her in the past, and while she's giving you a second chance, just remember that she's keeping things slow because she doesn't want to risk losing you again."

Dick was left speechless for a few moments to think that over. He hadn't ever even considered that.

In hindsight, it was so obvious. Zatanna had lost her entire family, and Dick was the only one she ever let into her heart since then. When he dumped her, she must have felt that same heartache she did when her dad was taken…and now that he was back, of course she was being closed off. She didn't want that same heartache to come back again.

He kinda hated himself for not realizing sooner.

M'gann must have sensed his tension, because she gave him a gentle squeeze and smiled reassuringly.

"Don't worry, if you explain yourself, then I know she'd forgive you. You two were made for each other." He smiled.

"Thanks. I guess I never realized…we're kinda in the same position here."

"Yeah. We both made mistakes, but we're both trying to make up for them." Dick hugged M'gann and grinned.

"I don't know what I'd do without you." The Martian laughed.

"And you won't have to find out. I promise."

He got up and scratched his arm awkwardly.

"Could you come with me? I…I guess I could use the moral support." M'gann stood up and smiled.

"Absolutely."

Dick rubbed his neck before knocking gently on Zatanna's apartment door. He looked back to M'gann worriedly, but she just shot him a reassuring smile and nodded.

The door opened gently, and the former Boy Wonder hesitantly walked in as Zatanna moved to the side. "H-hey, Zee…I…"

Dick noticed Conner standing in the walkway and raised an eyebrow in confusion. M'gann walked past him and up to her own boyfriend and started a mental conversation. The raven shook his head and turned back to the magician.

"Dick, I have to say-"

"W-wait, Zee, I just wanna-"

"I'm sorry." Both ravens chuckled slightly as they spoke in unison, and Dick took both of Zatanna's hands in his own.

"Zee…I'm really, really sorry about earlier. I was a total jerk, a-and I never really thought about why you were keeping me at arm's length. The truth is…I know I made mistakes, a-and I know I hurt you before, b-but I've changed, and I just hope you could let me prove that." Zatanna smiled softly.

"I'm sorry, too. I didn't mean to alienate you i-if I did. I was just worried. Wh-when we…split last time, I barely recovered. I couldn't risk going through that again, and I know you changed, b-but I just…"

Zatanna drifted off, and Dick pulled her into a hug, kissing the top of her head and gently caressing her hair.

"Zee, you're the most important person in my life. You have been since the day I met you. A-and I get it. After how I ended things last time, I know I lost your trust. But I wanna earn it back, if you'll let me?"

The magician smiled and kissed his Adam's Apple.

"I'd like that. A lot."

"So, what was Conner doing here?"

"I asked him to come over for advice. M'gann?" Dick chuckled.

"Same deal." Both ravens laughed together before Dick hugged Zatanna even tighter.

Conner and M'gann watched from the side, smiling as Dick tilted Zatanna's chin up to kiss her. She nudged him.

-What did you tell her?-

-What she needed to hear. You?-

-What he needed to hear. I guess we really were on the same page-

-Looks like we're not the only ones-

Conner draped an arm around M'gann's shoulders and smiled, turning their attention back to their friends, still locked in a deep kiss.

I'm sorry for the delay between postings, but I think it's better to post multiple chapters at a time in case one isn't satisfactory so there's at least something to enjoy with each posting.
