Everyone knew that something was about to happen. They all had a gut feeling. They were all standing in the foundry, waiting for the news to finally hit Oliver.
"Oliver" Felicity said trying to get his attention but he was so out of it she thought she shocked him to death
"Give me a second to process this information" Oliver said while pacing back and forth in front of Felicitys desk
Felicity was hoping Oliver understood what she was doing. It took her a long time to come to her decision. Everyone was taking it ok, but Oliver. Well everyone was putting on a brave face for Felicity. They didn't want her to go but as she always says 'Her life, her choice'. Everyone was looking at Oliver, waiting for that thought bubble to explode from the information he just heard.
"If your going, so am I" Oliver said while stopping his pacing and staring right at Felicity
"You can't, the deal I made was very specific" Felicity said not backing down
"Either I'm coming or you're not going at all" Oliver said with as much emotion in his voice
"Oliver, I have to do this. When we went to Central City, Dr. Wells said something to me that bothered me" Felicity said
"You mean Barry's mother's murder, evil murdering speedster who had you by the throat threatening to kill you Dr. Wells" Oliver said walking around Felicity's desk to invade her space
"The one and only" Felicity said looking to the floor remembering what happened
They had just defeated another meta human that crossed into Central City from Starling City. Felicity thought she imagined it, she was rubbing her eyes, breathing in and out. But nope it was real. Felicity found Dr. Wells secret room by accident while snooping around Star Labs. She just wanted to get away from Oliver for a little bit before they got back. Their awkward relationship didn't help much, not when Cisco said something to make it even awkward. She just swiped her hand on the wall, when a door opened up. She walked in cause it's Felicity, she has to snoop around. She walked over to a stand with a weird crystal on it. She went and touched it. It came alive with stories about her. Some exciting and some horrible she couldn't breathe. One in particular got her interest.
Felicity Smoak-Queen youngest CEO in record history, has died. Her famous husband and Co-Owner non other than Oliver Queen has issued a statement with us regarding his wife's passing. 'She was my light, loosing her has been the worst that can happen to me. But I know she had a wonderful life, doing what she loved most. Geeking out about the newest technology, consuming so much coffee, you think it ran in her blood. But she always enjoyed being around family, helping family weither they wanted it or not. I'll miss my Girl-Wednesday.'
To say that was a lot of information to absorb was an understatement. Felicity was in tears. But what scared her the most was the date on the news letter. The date stated was almost 2 years from now. Just before she started to leave, she turned just enough to catch an open door to the side. She opened it and inside hung the reverse flash suit. Felicity just about ran from the room, swiping her hand on the wall to close the door on her fast moving legs. She reached the elevator just when the team arrived and Dr. Wells wheeled in the corridor by the elevator. Oliver spotted her first and was on guard from not just her body language but the serious scared look. But before he could reach her, Wells was out of his chair and had a scalpel to her neck.
Thats when all hell broke loose. Oliver had an arrow notched, Digg had his gun out, Sara was in a fighting stance with her bo-staff, Cisco and Barry was so energize with the speed force with what he was seeing.
"No one move or Felicity dies." Well instructed
"Dr Wells what are you doing" Cisco said
"I believe Ms. Smoak here knows why I'm doing this" Wells said slowly backing him and Felicity up to the central terminal.
"I'm sorry Barry" was all Felicity got out before Well moved the scalpel closer to her neck, nicking her just a little to draw blood
"Why are you sorry" Barry asked looking right at Felicity
Felicity was staring at Barry too, when a few tears fell down her cheek. Barry knew right from there why she was sorry. Barry spent so much time solving his mother's murder that he never thought the answer was right in front of him.
"Here's what's gonna happen, Ms. Smoak and I are gonna go for a walk. You follow us, she dies" Well said and speed off with Felicity into the room she just discovered
"So I see you saw your news letter, how convenient. I'll let you know something else too. You didn't just die, you were murdered. History books in the future have you alive and well in my timeline. So something from here to then changed I guess." Wells said getting Felicity even more scared
"Normally I would kill anyone who knows who I am, but you're also a variable that needs to live, as I told you before. I saw great things from you" Wells said with his suit on
Wells speed back into the main corridor, left Felicity in the room and speed back out before Barry came speeding in after him. Barry didn't check on Felicity, he knew someone from her team would.
"Felicity are you ok" Oliver said rushing in running his eyes up and down looking for any injury
"Felicity" Oliver said again sense he didn't get her to respond
"What" Felicity said looking up at Oliver coming out of her memory of that night
"I asked you, What did Wells say to you?" Oliver said sitting on her desk now
"I can't tell you" Felicity said getting up and grabbing her things
"Why can't you tell me, you're leaving me to go, god knows where. With no reason why, and you can't tell me." Oliver screamed
"If I told you, not only would you not believe me but it would cause a butterfly effect, heck me knowing is causing a butterfly effect." Felicity stopped at the stairs
"You mean everything to me, please don't go" Oliver begged
Felicity turned around with as many tears down her face as Oliver and everyone else. This would be the last time she saw them for a while.
"I'm sorry this is something I have to do alone. Someday you'll understand why I did it" Felicity said and turned going up the stairs she was gone in an instant
1 Hour Later
Felicity finished packing the rest of her stuff. She heard the knock on the door, she knew who it was which made it all the more real. She walked thru the living room and to the door. She opened and smiled at her friend.
"Hi Barry" Felicity said
"Are you sure about this?" Barry asked
"You and I both know why I'm doing this. I have to or else I'm dead in the next year. If it changes what's gonna happen in the future, then I have to. Not for my sake, but for my families. I'm trusting you Barry not to tell Oliver my reason why, or tell him or anyone where you're bringing me. If they found out, they would come and get me and if that happens, my plan will have been for nothing" Felicity said looking around her home
"I left a note for everyone, including into Digg's my storage space to put all my things, and leaving Sara my lease to my apartment. The only one who doesn't know I'm leaving is my mom. Which I'm leaving to you to tell her. Tell her ive had a roller coaster of things happen and I just need a little break from reality. So I'm going to do what I always said I would. Im gonna explore the world, relax, read all the books I pushed behind. I won't call or message her for a while but I'll write her in my journal about everything." Felicity said tearing up
"I've spend most of my life looking for who killed my mom. I've found him, and he ruins not just my life but your's too. I'm so sorry Felicity. This is something I never saw coming." Barry said leaning on the back of her door
"I didn't see this coming either but I've processed it and I'm gonna beat it. If it means being away from my family for a while, then so be it. I know we will be with each other again. Let's just hope my plan works." Felicity said with a sigh
"Do have everything you need?" Barry asked
"I won't need a lot where I'm going" Felicity said picking her bag up and taking one last look around her apartment
"Lets go before I change my mind" Felicity said wiping her tears
Felicity locks her door and takes her key off her keychain and drops her key in the mailbox by the door for Sara. Digg has the other copy she made for emergencies so he can come and get her stuff out for Sara to move in.
Barry speeds them to a place in the middle of nowhere.
"One last thing before you leave Barry, I don't want you to bring me anything, I don't want you checking in on me, I know I'm asking a lot. But I have to do this myself. The only time you should see me is now and the day you pick me back up in almost a year if I'm still here that is" Felicity said looking at the setting sun
"I guess this is goodbye. Please be careful and I hope your plan works, if not Oliver's gonna kill me if he finds out I knew where you were, why you were doing this" Barry said while hugging Felicity goodbye
Barry sped off and Felicity was left watching the sun slowly going down. She has to move quickly cause her daylight is slowly closing. She has a lot of work to do for her plan to work. She takes one last good look at the sun.
Some would say it's Beautiful and others would call it Purgatory.
