Bucky woke up to see Walker holding your arm out, pulling something out of his pocket. He pulled himself up and got a good look at what it was. He heard you pleading with him, telling him that you didn't want it. He stood, running to you, but by the time he reached you, it was too late.

"Let's see if Bucky will love you now." Walker said, pushing you into Bucky's arms. He caught you, falling down to the floor. He looked up at Walker, tears in his eyes.

"Why? Why would you do this?" He asked.

"You're a second rate super soldier. She's always been more than you, and now, she always will be." Walker told him. Bucky was going to say something, but you started screaming in his arms. Your veins felt like they were on fire. You were writhing in Bucky's arms and there was nothing he could do to help you.

"I'm so sorry, doll. God I'm so sorry." He whispered, cradling you to his body.

You had never felt pain like this before. It felt like your insides were being ripped out of your body. You wondered if Steve and Bucky felt like this when it happened to them. Your whimpers were breaking Bucky's heart and you finally passed out from the pain. He set you down gently, standing up and looking at Walker.

Bucky needed to let go. He needed to push his love for you back so he would have a clear head. So that he could make the bastard pay for what he did to you. Bucky closed his eyes and just let it all go, and Winter appeared, rolling his neck and his arm, glaring so hard at Walker he might have actually burst into flames.

"I told you I'd kill you if you touched her again." He growled, charging at John.

John picked up the shield and tried to block him, but all Winter saw was rage, so he just kept pounding on the shield relentlessly. Sam started to stir, rolling over, seeing you passed out on the floor.

You opened your eyes, and it only took a second before you remembered what happened. You looked around, and everything was clearer. You could hear kids laughing from miles away, you could hear the heartbeats of the other people in the room. You stood, finding that your foot was completely healed and your head no longer felt fuzzy from when you hit it.

John threw Bucky into a pile of cinder blocks, and started walking toward you. "You're finally mine." He said, taking his hand and sliding it across your cheek.

You just blinked up at him, someone that you were supposed to trust with your life, had done something like this to you. "Do you feel all that power, running through your veins? Use that. What happened to Lamar? Use that anger." John told you.

You closed your eyes, listening. You could hear everything that was going on in your body. Your heart was beating faster now, slightly faster than Bucky's even. Your brows furrowed and your head tilted, the copper smell of blood entering your nose. Your neck twitched and you took in several shallow breaths.

"That's it Charlie." John said. "Just let it consume you. Feel it. Be with me. Together we'd be unstoppable. All we need is each other." You opened your eyes, seeing Bucky get up, a murderous look on his face. Then you looked up at John. He was smiling down at you like you were the sun and you were the best thing he'd ever seen.

You took your hand and placed it on his and he smiled even bigger. You took his hand off your face and bent his arm back until you heard a crack. John screamed out in pain and you took that moment to kick him straight in the chest, sending him flying through the air, hitting a forklift and knocking him out.

Winter stepped up to you carefully, so he wouldn't spook you. He saw Sam stand and shook his head at him, telling him not to intervene. "Charlie?" He asked. Your head snapped in his directions and he put his hands up. "I'm not going to hurt you." Winter told you. He knew what it was like to wake up like this for the first time and not really know what's happening to you. Everything is heightened, all your emotions are at a hundred percent, and anything can set you off.

Winter put a hand on your arm and you snapped, throwing your fist at his face. He caught it, but wasn't able to catch your knee into his stomach. Sam started to come over to help, but Winter held his hand up. Sam would only get hurt if he got in the way.

Winter just stood there, letting her attack him, blocking what hits he could, and taking the other ones. I need to stop her Bucky. Winter told him.

I know. Don't hurt her too much, please. Bucky pleaded. Winter hummed and caught your next punch, spinning you around and putting you into a chokehold. You struggled against him for a few minutes before passing out. Winter picked you up bridal style while Sam grabbed the shield.

Bucky carried you all the way to Zemo's place, you hadn't woken up yet. After Winter had taken you down, Bucky forced himself back to the front. Bucky knew Zemo wouldn't come back to the apartment, too afraid the Dora Milaje would be waiting. He carried you into the bedroom and laid you down, pulling a blanket over you.

He pulled a chair up beside the bed and sat down, taking your hand in his. You slept for a few hours, while Sam went to meet with Torres. When he came back, Bucky was passed out, his head lying next to you on the bed, his hand still holding yours. You both looked tired, and Sam just wished that all of this would be over, because he knew you and Bucky needed a break.

Sam knelt down beside Bucky and gently shook his shoulder. Bucky jolted awake and looked at Sam, then back at you, checking if you were still okay.

"She wake up yet?" He asked. Bucky looked at him and shook his head.

"No. She should have woken up by now. I think Winter hurt her." He said softly. He shouldn't have let Winter come out when she was in a state like that, but he didn't know what else to do.

I didn't hurt her. Winter told him. Bucky sighed.

You don't know that. Bucky said.

I do know that, and so do you. She'll be fine, she just needs time.

Sam sighed, standing and patting Bucky on the back before heading back out into the living room. You started to stir and Bucky's head jerked in your direction. "Doll?" He whispered. You let out a little moan and slowly opened your eyes, looking around at where you were.

You sat up quickly, your eyes wide, taking quick, short breaths. Bucky jumped up and sat on the bed next to you, putting your hands on his arms. "Sweetheart, hey. It's me. It's Bucky. You're okay." You started shaking your head, backing up until you were against the headboard.

"No, no. I don't….where am I?" You whimpered, tears welling in your eyes. Bucky held his hands up in surrender, scooting closer to you.

"Hey. You're okay sweetheart. I'm not going to hurt you. We're at Zemo's place." You started to freak out again but he grabbed your hands. "He's not here. He's gone, you're safe" He said. You looked at him for the first time and realized that you were safe. You were with Bucky. Bucky was your safe place.

"Bucky?" You whispered. He nodded, smiling softly at you.

"Hi doll." He said, wiping a tear from your face. You burst into tears, flinging yourself at him, crawling into his lap.

"I'm sorry. I'm so sorry, for everything. For leaving, for siding with John as much as I did. I'm so sorry Bucky." You sobbed into his shoulder. He wrapped his arms around you and buried his face in your hair.

"No, sweetheart. I'm the one who's sorry. If I was more open, if I talked to you more, you wouldn't have left in the first place. You would have been with me this whole time. Everything that happened to you is my fault Charlotte." He whispered, followed by a choked sob.

You pulled back and took his face in your hands. "Bucky, no." You said softly. "I don't blame you for any of this. I left b because I felt like I needed to do some good, because I wanted someone to need me. I stayed with John and Lamar because I-" You stopped, sucking in a sharp breath.

Lamar. Lamar had died. "Oh God." You whispered, putting a hand to your mouth. Bucky pulled back and put his hand on your face. "Lamar's dead." You said, your eyes glossing over.

"I know. I'm so sorry sweetheart." Bucky told you.

You couldn't stop crying. Bucky had gotten you into the shower and helped you wash your hair, and the whole time you couldn't stop crying. He'd seen the bruises left by John's arm from when he took you, they were already starting to fade because of the serum, but they were still pretty prominent. You had to pull his head away so he'd look at you and not the bruises, beating himself up more. None of this was his fault. You had chosen to leave, to stay on John's side. He'd tried to get you to eat and drink something, but you couldn't. "Why can't I stop crying?" You asked. You really didn't think you had any left.

"It's a side effect of the serum doll. You're going to experience everything ten times more than everyone else. Your emotions will be heightened. Grief, happiness, fear...rage." Bucky said quietly.

"I didn't want this." You said softly.

"I know. I know, and I'm so sorry."
