Authors notes: Welcome to The Legend of The Mistress. First, this is an alternative universe fic with some creative changes.
Some characters are much younger than in their respective series. Mainly, Missy appears to be twenty-five and Giovanni is thirty-two.
Secondly, the vast majority of the characters follow their cannons. This story takes place before Missy meets the twelfth doctor. Giovanni's story is very much the same until pokemon XY.
On other notes, the author is American. When I started this story I never thought I could get readers from around the world. I do my best to avoid putting in such things as temperature and distance. When I do, I do my best to add conversions in the writing.
There's a lot of wordplay in this, I do my best to keep the grammar and spelling good. So if you see something off, there might be a reason for it. Thank you for giving this story a chance.
The chapter's one through six were updated on March 18th, 2022 for readability and grammar. I've added some contextual dialog to better explain the world. The story itself is unchanged.
The Legend of the Mistress
Missy leered at the navigation screen, disgusted by the way these events had unfolded, she had been forced to retreat.
The Doctor had a nack of disrupting her plans, but he hadn't bothered to go this far before. He had the gull to destroy half their fleet. The Cybermen's response was just as logical as it was outlandish. They declared war on only two Time Lords left in existence.
The rumble of gunfire thundered throughout the control room. The tardis shields deflected the attack well, but this couldn't go on forever.
Hastily, she shuffled to the navigation controls. Her efforts were stalled by their force. The tardis violently shook with the onslaught. Unexpectedly, the ship lurched steeply in the chaos.
To her dismay, she grimaced before she slammed into the safety railing. This was the last thing she needed at the moment. Her ribs shifted, a tremendous pain followed as she stood back up.
They were starting to close in on her. The fire from their guns rocked the tardis violently.
Instinctively, she reached out and took manual control of the tardis. Her left hand clung on to what it could and her right index finger gracefully steered with the atom accelerator.
While she navigated the wormhole, her eyes scoured the course ahead. It seemed as though her luck was about to turn around, there was turbulence ahead.
It was going to be a painful affair. Her teeth dug into her lower lip as she accelerated. The ship rocked with the tenacity of an earthquake, as she exited the wormhole.
Her chest seared in pain as she pulled the time path detector from above. With great anticipation, she watched the cyber fleet. Her hearts raced as their ship's velocity halved. They kept their course and proceeded.
She released the atom accelerator and allowed the tardis to free spin. Her first problem was out of the way for the moment.
The Cybermen were notorious for their calculations and their precision to detail. It was only a matter of time before they figured out that she had exited the wormhole.
The stabbing pains in her side were a completely different affair. Missy crossed her arms before she telepathically engaged automatic flight controls.
The blue supergiant Rigel was a thousand light years ahead. With a few mathematical calculations and the correct use of navigations, she'd ditch the Cybermen.
The subtle jolt of a tremor disrupted her concentration. She froze as her chest started to throb.
A howl of an alert sounded throughout the control room. The onboard computer warned that she was being pulled off course. The pains that surged through her melded with her fury.
Wreaklessly she approached the screen. Her finger smashed in the orders for diagnostics.
As Missy analyzed this list of problems, she screamed in rage, " That's not possible!"
She immediately engaged the atom accelerator to maximum throttle. With her left hand, she navigated the tardis computer.
The tardis shields were deteriorating rapidly. If she failed to regain control of their power consumption she'd be stuck adrift.
The distorted sound of a grand bell methodically chimed a dull tune. The cloister bell's activation warned of a disaster.
Missy franticly began to search for the source of the problem. Her shields were failing, she hoped it was due to a disruption in the power supply.
Recall Circuit Activated
She spied a polygon warning light that flashed from a distant corner. The indicator light had an inconvenient placement on the control panel.
In all of her years of flight study, there hadn't been a single report of a failure. The only other way it could have been done was if Gallifrey had called her home, and that wasn't possible.
Missy's side was wrenched in pain. Her aggravation persisted as she struggled to maintain control. Her efforts were in vain. The ship started to rock violently, and as it did she lost her balance.
The room became a white void, Missy screamed as the light burned through her. The control room was filled with a yellow aura of energy, her vision was lost to the firey light as it engulfed the room.
After a moment the ship crashed. The tardis creaked ominously before it crept forward. With a jolt, it landed with a thud.
Missy took a few deep breaths as she recanted the day's events. She groaned with frustration as she realized the day had only begun.
As she regained her composure she realized her pain had gone. Naturally, her regeneration energy had healed her. This was a delightful and much-needed reprieve. While she indulged the peace she started to assess the ship.
Her coordinates were flashing rapidly, but her position in time and space was stable. She moved over to navigation and attempted to take off, but quickly discovered that the tardis was unable to de-materialize.
Missy cursed under her breath as studied the power gauge. She frowned as she realized that her tardis was out of temporal energy.
At least the tardis still functioned. The exterior cameras had activated a live view of the exterior came onto the screen. The tardis had crashed in a lush forest. An enormous butterfly approached the crash site. The insect flew cautiously near the wreak.
" A planet filled with oversized insects. What kind of a world is this?" Missy muttered as she opened the door.
She squinted as the sunlight overwhelmed her senses. Her vision quickly adjusted, she was repulsed, giant grubs struggled in the soil as they approached her ship.
The air above her buzzed, it wasn't the worst of worlds. She looked up small birds, ladybugs, and butterflies, fluttered above the crash.
A butterfly flew away from the party, the insect seemed fearless. It kept a modest distance from her. Then the butterfly spoke with great enthusiasm, " Hello there!"
Missy slammed the door in the insect's face. She buried her hands in her face in disbelief at what had just happened.
" Talking insects, what the hell?" Missy asked herself as stomped back to the computer.
Convinced that she was in a nightmare, she ran a test to see if she was in Dream Time.
She gawked when the tardis informed her that the test was negative. Slightly disappointed by this revelation, she concluded that the tardis was translating for these creatures.
She put the thought out of her mind, she'd be off this world soon enough. She promptly began a search for a temporal rift. The tardis computer hummed as it scoured the ages in search of a fuel source.
A temporal rift was the only thing that could recharge her ship. She wanted to leave this world more than anything else.
As the computer searched it informed her of other things. The date was September 17th, 2016 the time was 10:37 am. The planet was a world composed of a few continents and many islands.
This world was brimming with life. She learned that creatures known as pokemon occupied the planet. Their co-inhabitants were human.
Missy snarled as she learned of the discovery. Since she knew about humans, she decided to learn about pokemon.
They served many purposes in this world. A pokemon could be used for companionship, battling, defense, and could be used to travel the regions. Some pokemon such as pidgeot could fly people from city to city, others such as lapras could be used to travel the oceans, pokemon like dugtrio could be used to dig out of caverns.
The tardis completed its search for a temporal rift. When she read the report, her anger grew, there were no temporal rifts on the planet.
The objective feeling of denial sank in. She wanted to be sure, with the press of a button, scanned the planet again.
There were no temporal rifts, but this world had plenty of temporal anomalies. That became the subject of her next search. To her surprise, a pokemon was behind it.
The pokemon resembled a small green fairy. It was shown flying through a forest with its clear wings. It had large baby-blue eyes with thick black rings around them, they stared at her from the photo.
Celebi, the Time Travel Pokemon. This pokemon came from the future by crossing over time. Celebi wanders across time as a guardian of the forest. It is believed to replenish the forest it visits. The sight of a celebi is a good omen for travelers and trainers alike.
Missy looked over the picture as she memorized every aspect of the pokemon. She then searched for other time travel pokemon, but celebi was the only one. She scanned the timeline of this world and noticed rifts appearing and disappearing throughout its history. The time frames were mostly short. She needed to corner the pokemon.
She considered the humans, they used pokemon and she wondered how that worked.
She read a good deal about pokeballs and the pocket dimensional properties they held. How to catch pokemon and the process and rules involved.
The tardis informed her that catching pokemon was not an easy task. A trainer must first weaken a pokemon before an attempt could be made at capture. She learned that no pokemon was off-limits to a trainer, as long as they could capture it they could keep it.
She discovered that pokemon trainers cannot capture another trainer's pokemon with pokeballs. To be stolen they must be taken from their original pokeball. She read about poke stores where she could buy pokeballs. She discovered there were very few towns that did not have these establishments.
She telepathically had her tardis search for the nearest town. She looked back to the screen. She was located in the Johto Region and was a stone's throw away from the city.
A map appeared on the screen. She looked it over and remembered her location and directions to Goldenrod. She did some quick research on the town and discovered it was the largest city in the region.
Goldenrod City was home to a pokemon center, radio tower, game corner, pokemon gym, train station, and had a large shopping district. Goldenrod was the sister city of Saffron City in the Kanto Region. Intrigued by that fact, she clicked on the article for Saffron City.
Saffron City was the heart of progress in Kanto. The city was home to Silph Co. and other major industries. The city was home to two world-renowned pokemon gyms. Historically the city was best known for the invention of the pokeball.
Missy pondered over the information she had learned. All she needed to do was purchase some pokeballs, go out and capture a couple of pokemon, then battle Celebi. The concept seemed simple enough.
Feeling she knew enough to get by she grabbed a black purse and her umbrella from under the console. She checked the contents inside. She had a large black controller, some makeup, and a hairbrush. In her wallet, a piece of psychic paper and one credit card, The Master Card, universally accepted.
She took out her makeup mirror and looked at herself. She gasped as she gazed into the mirror. Her appearance hadn't changed much, but she looked much younger. She now appeared to be in her early twenties. Her blue eyes stared back at her pale face. Her auburn hair was tangled and a mess. She let out a sigh as she reached for her brush.
She carefully began to work out the tangles. She told herself everything had gone wrong today. It really had, what she needed was the Cybermen's technology, not to crash land on a planet with talking butterflies.
She set the brush aside. Her fingers skimmed the controls until she found the button she was looking for, the voice integrator button. She tapped it and accessed the language bank. A small list of languages appeared on the screen. She selected pokemon and promptly disabled it.
Missy walked back towards the door and opened it. She was still surrounded by pokemon. She grinned as she snatched the remote. Glee-filled reminiscence of her enemies running for their lives came to mind before she pressed one of the many buttons on it.
A sonic screech filled the area with a dreadful sound. All of the pokemon that surrounded her fled. Satisfied with the work she had done she tucked it away in her bag.
When she stepped down onto the grass her heel sunk into the mud. Her balance fell with it. She was drenched in mud. Frustrated and angry she got back up and stepped back inside.
She ripped off her heels while she walked back into the tardis. She stepped into a large wardrobe and chucked her shoes into a corner. She scrutinized her options before she chose new attire.
She placed on a pair of black pants. Snatched a pair of cute boots. She was wearing an ebony power vest and a white dress shirt. Her tie was violet and her jacket was purple so dark it could easily be mistaken for black.
The close went well with her slender figure. She put her hair up and had to admit she looked stunning.
She picked up her purse and emptied it switching all of her belongings to a small black satchel. The outfit would work for the journey ahead. She strapped her vortex manipulator back onto her wrist then hid it under her jacket. She snatched her umbrella on the way out.
She looked at the tardis. It had become a tall tree with pink fruits hanging off its branches. On the side was an image of a carved heart with an arrow through it. Missy recognized the marker for her tardis and remembered it for later.
She made her way into the forest. According to the map, a path was very close by. She found it and continued on her way to Goldenrod City.
The forest was dense, and even though the day was sunny the light barely penetrated the canopy. The shadow of the forest hadn't phased her at all.
The faint sounds of gunfire originated from the distance. What was going on ahead might be a concern. The roar of helicopters and automatic guns seemed out of place. When she arrived at the crest of the path, she was sure of it.
Many of the buildings in Goldenrod City were in flames. The city was in a bleak state of war. Red and black helicopters zipped through the sky. Bright laser beams ripped through the air as they shot at each other.
She noticed a red R emblazoned on the side panel of one of the helicopters. The sky was filled with various species of pokemon. They desperately attacked both factions in a chaotic frenzy.
In the distance, a large pillar of light reached into the sky before it stretched into space. It was unnatural, Missy could tell it must have been half a world away.
A red helicopter zipped overhead and flew low over the city. The rival faction was quick to shoot at it. She smirked as she watched the war, but the focus of her attention soon changed.
She listened to the soft footsteps of a beast running in her direction. She turned to the source of the sound.
A silver fox ran out of a nearby bush. Missy gazed upon the pokemon as it approached. It was one of the most stunning creatures she had ever seen. All nine of the pokemon's long and wavy tails ended with brilliant blue tips. The look of terror in its wide red eyes added to its luster.
Missy scanned the creature with her controller. She discovered that it was the pokemon ninetails, the firefox pokemon.
She wanted it and quickly ran after the fox in pursuit. She didn't have a pokemon, her controller would have to do. She grabbed it from her bag and shot at the pokemon's torso. With the press of a button, the controller unleashed a mild pulse of energy.
The pokemon froze in its tracks. The ninetails looked at her in terror. The pokemon's eyes widened as they gazed upon her.
I wish you hadn't have done that, Ninetails telepathically said, the female fox was truly startled.
Missy was caught off guard by this, the pokemon were telepathic? She wondered about that but put the idea to the side.
She was surrounded by chaos. She hadn't the slightest idea about anything that was going on. It was simple, she needed to retreat after she attended to this matter.
Oh, I couldn't help it, it's not every day you find such a gorgeous beast, Missy confidently replied, she did her best to conceal her urge to leave.
The sound of a helicopter approaching brought her attention back to the scene. The pilots peered at them from above.
Missy pointed her controller at the red helicopter. With the press of a button, the movements of the blades stopped. The helicopter had frozen in the sky.
The time stop held the helicopter in position, with the threat neutralized she tucked the remote away. The pilots looked at each other before they attempted to use their controls. Their confidence was fleeting at best.
A wave of pure energy put an end to her amusement. The sky began to turn a pale blue. A brilliant pulse of light ripped through the heavens and shook the earth. A heavy gust of wind howled past her. Missy watched as the surrounding forest began to radiate blue luminance energy.
It wasn't just the trees everything around them including herself and ninetails were slowly dissipating. She watched as the small particles of energy began to float to the sky. She had seen enough, it was a good time to leave this point in time.
Missy looked at ninetails, then made an offer, " Come with me."
To her surprise, the pokemon began to follow her. The pair ran back into the forest together. The fox managed to keep her pace as they fled.
The loud and choppy blades of a helicopter swiftly approached from the distance. There was a battle not too far ahead, reassured she disregarded the matter.
The pair dashed down the path. Soon the tardis was in sight. It was holding up well enough. It was slowly dissipating with the forest that surrounded it. Missy reached into her pocket and grabbed the key. When she reached her ship, she caught her breath.
Ninetails pounced as she stopped, the pokemon looked around frantically. That weapon is going to end the world.
Missy sighed, as she gestured to the tardis. " Relax, we're going to make it out of this."
Briskly she opened the door before she looked into the fox's panicked eyes. Missy gazed into the fox's eyes with the intention of total dominance. The fox's eyes dilated as she took in the emotion. It didn't take long for ninetails to calm down, it wasn't much longer before the pokemon submitted to hypnotism.
" Get in, sit down, and touch nothing," Missy softly commanded.
Slowly the fox complied. She appeared to be fighting every instinct to run as she stepped into the tardis.
Missy promptly shut the door. Mentally she accessed the chameleon circuit. She transformed the tardis into a small fountain with a celebi. Satisfied by the transformation, she parked herself on the fountain's edge.
With the roll of a sleeve, she checked the oscillations on her vortex manipulator. The time coordinates were fine, but the universal oscillations were locked.
The sound of many people running nearby heightened her senses. She'd figure it out later, right now she needed to leave. With a few calculations, she determined that taking the tardis in this manner would work.
With her greatest concern out of the way, she began to punch coordinates for ten years past. A red shot of energy whizzed past her. The ray had passed closer than she would have liked, she could feel the heat. Startled her finger slipped on the digits.
Ahead of her, a man dressed in a red suit approached. His eyes were concealed by red sunglasses, but his smirk was unforgettable. He raised his laser gun and aimed at her.
It no longer mattered, she was out of there. Missy could feel the pull of the time stream. She watched as time shifted around her and the tardis.
