MAKE SURE TO READ THE SUMMARY BEFORE MOVING ON TOR THE CHAPTER. THERE'S SOME IMPORTANT INFORMATION.
Previously on WYKION: James and Lily met at Sirius's so-called-surprise birthday party. Lily brought Jackson along with her, who had been drunk at a previous party and got into a fight with his ex's boyfriend. To make it up to her, Jackson arranged a slow dance for Lily and eventually kissed her. For the first time. James saw that and couldn't move. He left the party. His girlfriend, Amy, towed along but was unable to understand the reason for his sudden anger.

CHAPTER 10
Amy was confused. She didn't understand why James had so suddenly stormed out of the party of his best friend. There was a certain redhead who constantly came to Amy's mind but she pushed those absurd thoughts out of her head constantly.
She thought of something to use as a distraction, "James," She pointed to a nearby scooter, "What's this?" She smiled at him, waiting for his response.
"It's a scooter! Can't a scooter be just a scooter for a while? There is no romantic story here! A middle class man rides it to work. That's it!"
"I...James, I was just trying to lighten the mood for a while...I didn't mean t-"
He let out a sigh, "I know. I-...I'm sorry. I shouldn't have yelled."
"Why are you so upset?"
"It's nothing."
"No. Tell me. "
With a frustrated sigh he said, "It's just that...I feel sometimes you can't see reality...or you can't face it."
"What do you mean? What can't I see?"
"Everything. For example, I'm sorry, but it didn't look like your parents can't live without each other. Frankly, I feel that they-"
"Shut up! Shut up. Just shut up!" James realized that maybe he had said more than he should've. And before he could do anything, Amy had tears glistening down her cheeks.
After a while, she said, "Dad...dad had an affair." She said reluctantly, trying to speak through the tears. "Mom left home...She came back just for me. They used to fight like animals everyday.
"The abuse, the violence...Alone in my room, I could hear it all. The two people I loved most...were miserable. All because of me. All the time. Every minute. So...I stopped seeing and thinking. I assured myself that they were happy, that they loved each other. And that all was well with the world."
James pulled her into an embrace, while stroking her hair. He added gently, "If you shut your eyes and can't see the world...it doesn't mean that the world can't see you."
"You're right. I've shut my eyes tight. And sure...I'll have to face reality someday. But don't force me to open my eyes yet...I can't."
OOOOOOOOOOOOOO
The night had James tossing and turning. He couldn't stop thinking about Amy. How bad he felt for her. At the same time, Lily's kiss kept replaying in his mind. However, he managed to fall asleep but before he knew it, the moon had left the sky with the softest kiss and the sun had risen.
"James!" Fleamont Potter called his son, "Amy is here."
James sat up in his bed, putting on a t-shirt as Amy entered the room with a very serious look on her face. She sat down on a chair near his bed.
"What's up?" James asked.
"James...I've been thinking. Especially after last night. I just- I realized that you love Lily."
James stiffened.
"Frankly...you two are just perfect. You really should be with her."
James wondered if what Amy said was true. But before he could think any further, suddenly, she burst out laughing as she wrapped her arms around him.
"Look at you! How could you fall for that?" She laughed harder.
When James didn't reply, "I'm sorry James. It was just a joke. Now come on-"
"What you said, it's true, Amy…I- I do love Lily...I have all this time."
"Okay, very funny. Now you've gotta stop joking."
James didn't say anything, he didn't know how to break it to her. There was a moment of silence. It was torture for him. But then Amy spoke after a while,
"I guess I knew all along..."
"I'm sorry Amy. I-"
"James, what's this?" She held up her palm near his face, just like she had when 4 months ago, James had insisted that he drop her home but she wanted him to go home.
James looked up at her hand, and for her sake, wearily asked, "What?"
She leaned in and gave him a peck on his cheek, "It's a Goodbye. Goodbye James," Amy smiled sadly.
OOOOOOOOOOOOOO
That night Amy had to, you know, "heal" her broken heart, so she went to the Three Broomsticks, where she bumped into Lily and Jackson.
Lily was off to the US for a fortnight. She'd even got her visa. (What? It's not that simple). But Lily wanted to stay a little longer.
"Why?" Jackson questioned, frowning.
"New York University has a film-making course. Since I'm going there, I might as well apply." Lily reasoned.
"How long is the course? "
"Three years."
"So you're saying that you want to live in New York for three years after marriage?"
"Actually, I was wondering...what if I did the course first? I mean, what's rush ri-"
"Hey Lily." Lily turned at the familiar voice of Amy D'amelio, a little surprised.
"Hey Amy, how are you?" She looked around Amy waiting for James to enter and stand next to Amy with love in his eyes, but he didn't come. "Where's James?"
Amy let out a humorlessly chuckle. "You didn't hear? We're not together anymore." Amy swayed a little as she answered Lily, the effects of her drinks taking over (yes, that's what getting "healed ₩" was).
"I'm sorry." Lily said, though she didn't know if she really was. After a while she asked, "Why?"
Amy snorted, "The oldest story in the world; He's in love with someone else."
"Oh...who?"
Amy smiled as she bent down and kissed Lily on the cheek, "Goodbye Lily."
OOOOOOOOOOOOOO
"Who was she referring to?" Jackson yelled at Lily in the empty parking lot as they were heading towards their car.
"I don't know!"
"Your best friend is in love with someone and you don't know? You expect me to believe that crap?"
"Oh my god, Jackson. Why does this even concern us?" Lily didn't want to talk about James being in love with someone.
"You said you two were close, right? Even your parents thought that you wanted to get married!"
"Yes, so what!"
He was silent for a moment, as Jackson took a step towards her and held her wrist. "Did you like him? Were you in love with him?"
"That's it! I'm leaving," Lily tried to free herself but he took a better grip.
"Don't try to ignore me Lily!"
"Let go of my hand, Jackson. You're hurting me!"
"I'm the one who's hurting! … Were you in love with him? Tell me Lily. Just this once. I promise I'll never bring it up agai-"
"I don't know! I don't know if it was love or something else!" Lily shouted. She didn't want to be talking about this. The world was spinning in front of her.
"But you know now, don't you?" Prodded Jackson, gently. "Answered me Lil. You're in love with him, aren't you?"
Asked minute passed. Moments flashed before Lily's eyes.
Her and James hating calling each other names.
Snape calling her a slag.
James comforting Lily.
James betting three KitKats that he would destroy Lily in the new video game his father had bought for him.
James losing eventually, and having to buy Lily three KitKats.
James tickling her.
James feeding her soup when her arm got fractured because Lily had gotten into a fight with Tommy for calling James names.
James and Lily running after each other. James scooping her up in his monster-big arms, trying the evil laughter, failing miserably and, you know, tickling her.
James comforting Lily when she got too stressed about the farewell party she had decided to throw.
James and the marauders dancing on the farewell.
Lily joining them.
James stroking her hair as she cried in his embrace about college getting over.
James finding Amy and falling in love with her.
James looking at Lily, and his eyes never wavering as he danced with Amy.
Amy telling Lily that he loved someone else. But not who...
Lily knew now, it wasnt Jackson she wanted to wrap his arms around Lily. It was James. It wasn't Jackson she wanted to protect her. It was James. It wasn't Jackson she wanted to dance with at Sirius's party. It was James. It wasn't Jackson she had wanted to kiss that night. It was James. It wasn't Jackson she wanted to take vows of life and death with. It was James. Lily knew now that it wasn't Jackson she loved.
"Yes...Yes I'm in love w-" But Lily couldn't complete her sentence. She felt a sharp pain across her cheek as Jackson's palm connected with Lily's face. He left her there to fend for herself, as he, unashamed, sat in his car and drove away.
I feel I'm choking in his sighs
I feel I'm lost in these arms
As lost as my path towards you
Somewhere, somewhere
Hides the magic
In every meeting of ours
